Select the white background with Magic Wand tool.  Hit Delete.  Transparent background is denoted by the checkerboard pattern on your document.

  • How to make a white background Transparent

    I would like to to select the blocks and enclosed data to copy and paste in a poster, leaving out the white background.  In other words make the white background transparent.
    This is just a plain low res jpg.
    This seems like it would be pretty easy but not for me.  Is there a tutorial that could guide me through this?
    Thank you for any guidance you can give me.

    I'm probably not being clear about what I'm trying to do.  Here's a typical poster.  I use the magnetic lasso to select an image, copy and paste it resulting in this.
    This time it's to be a team picture with small head shots of each player, action photos in the background, similar to this.  I can do all that but I wanted the tournament chart to lay on top of the background with just the boxes and enclosed info showing.  I know I can use the magnetic lasso or the poly lasso but I don't have enough patience for that.

  • Collage: How to make the white background invisible?

    In the print module of LR5 my collages all include the white background when I export them. Does anyone have a link they could point me to that explains how to turn this off? Everything I have researched does not address this specificly.
    Thanks so much,
    Ashley

    You can make the background any color but not transparent. If you need a transparent background, for putting images on a web page or blog; you need to make the collage in Photoshop, Photoshop Elements or similar editing software.

  • How to make a .jpg background transparent?

    Windows XP; using Photoshop Elements 2.0 :  is it possible to edit a .jpg so that the background (white, in this instance) can be transparent so that when I copy the part of the graphic I want and paste it elsewhere (another layer in Photoshop or Illustrator) that the white background disappears and doesn't block out the layer underneath?  Thanks.

    You can also copy the picture,  including the white, to the destination picture. The new picture will be on a separate layer. On that layer delete the white portion which will be replaced by transparency. Depending on the particular case you can select the white and delete it; or select the subject, invert the selection and delete it.

  • How to make a BufferedImage background transparent?

    I try to draw an image from a BufferedImage to a JPanel, which the original image background is transparent, but when I draw on the JPanel, its background becomes black color. How can I make it transparent?
    My code is something like this:
    img = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage("tiger.gif");
    try {
    MediaTracker tracker = new MediaTracker(this);
    tracker.addImage(img, 0);
    tracker.waitForID(0);
    } catch (Exception e) {}
    int width = img.getWidth(this);
    int height = img.getHeight(this);
    bImage = new BufferedImage(width, height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
    bImageG2D= bImage.createGraphics();
    bImageG2D.drawImage(img, 0, 0, null);
    public void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
    Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D)g;
    g2.drawImage(bImage, 0, 0, null);
    Thanks for the help!

    Nekot,
    It would be a great help if you can share your code of 'transparent bufferedimage' with me. I have been trying to create a transparent gif since long. Now I think I can create a transparent bufferedimage and display it.
    Thanks,

  • Make .SWF player background transparent???

    Hello,
    I have created a small animated logo in flash and when I put
    in my DW project it shows the default flash white background.
    I remember about 2 months ago I found a way to make that
    white background transparent by typing a parameter in DW...But I
    dont remember what I typed...
    It was something like WMODE and then for the value
    TRANSPARENT or something.
    Can anyone please remind me how to do this. Thanks
    alot.

  • I have a line drawing (black on white paper) i have scanned and need to make the white paper transparent, maintaining the line drawing, can i and then HOW can i do this in PS?

    i have a line drawing (black on white paper) i have scanned and need to make the white paper transparent, maintaining the line drawing, can i and then HOW can i do this in PS? this is for my business logo. ive used it for years but with a solid background. id like to have it just be the drawing over my photos with a transparent background.

    First let me apologize for posting a reply that was only suitable for advanced users.  Photoshop is broad and powerful therefore has a huge learning curve.  In fact I would state no one knows and uses all of Photoshop.  When we first get Photoshop it intimidate us and we're very uncomfortable using it.  Many thing are not intuitive there in much learning involved.  After some time we begin to know something and we are able to do some thing.  Learning become rapid and we start playing in Photoshop.  It is very important to play with Photoshop.  Playing with Photoshop and asking for help with in forums like this IMO is the best way to learn.
    Photoshop Power lies in layers, selection and automation.  However it takes knowledge to use photoshop well so most powerful tool you have ins Photoshop is the gray matter between your ears.  Most at one time or another want to watermark or put a logo on their image.  So its best to automate this process. All run into a problem in the process. "Size"  We find our assets vary in size and aspect ratios. Landscape, Portraits, Panoramas and others. This complicates automation.  Vector graphics works best when size vary greatly.  If you can not work out how to create a vector solution like a custom shape.  Create your Logo and watermark large thing scale down better the up. Text scale well for text uses vectors graphics however if you rasterize text it will not scale well.
    I do not type or do English well so let me do some screen captures.  I can not stress enough how important Black, White, Grays and Blending is when it come to image processing.  Become friends with Multiply, Screen, Overlay and Luminosity blending.....
    However when there is a white or black background though you can blend them you can not add a style like a drop shadow, emboss or make it invisible setting fill to 0 so only the style is visible.  When there is contrast between the logo and background it is easy to separate the two. To select the background and delet it to have the logo with a transparent background.  Many tools can be used to create the selection hee I use my action kill white.
    Vector Shape would work better for scaling However it would be best to create the logo from scratch in a vector program like illustrator but I never had the resources to justify the Creative suite. I only had Photoshop.  Recently Adobe gave me and other a year subscription to the creative suite for our participation here.  I still have not installed anything but Photoshop,  A while back I found a program that can create vector patf for black and white art work.  It will not be as good as using something like illustrator. However vector paths can be edited in Photoshop and cleaned up some. Here is the PSD it 13MB because od the gradient http://www.mouseprints.net/old/dpr/AmPm24-7.psd

  • How to make opaque white transparent?

    I have a JPEB, black words, hand lettered, on white.
    When I place it into an InDesign doc, on a solid color, the white background, being opaque, covers the solid color.
    How do I make that opaque white into a transparent background? Two manuals do not give me a clue.
    Thanks.

    No.. Photoshop transparency is automatically seen in Indesign for .psd files. All you need to make the background transparent in Photoshop.

  • How Do I: Remove White Background From a Non-Standard Sized PDF?

    Hello. Been a little while since I was last here.
    My issue is pretty simple. I am creating a PDF in Acrobat Pro X from MS-Word 2007. My document is landscaped half-page sized (US), so dimensions are: 8.5" wide, 5.5" high.
    When I attempt to print to PDF, the dimensions come out correctly, but there is a white background which is the size of a landscaped 8.5" x 11" sheet. Against this background, the 8.5" x 5.5" area is situated (nearly) centered vertically, but "right-justified" horizontally (see image). I need to find out how to fix this.
    Here's what I know:
    In MS Word:
    For "Page Setup" (under Page Layout tab):
    - under Margins tab, orientation is landscape;
    - under Paper tab, "Paper size" is "Custom size", with Width 8.5", Height 5.5" ;
    - No changes under Layout tab.
    For "Preferences" (under Acrobat tab)
    - under Settings tab, "Conversion Settings" are a custom setting ("Advanced Settings"), with "Default Settings" of Width 8.5 inches and Height 5.5 inches.
    When I Print > Adobe PDF:
    For "Properties" in Print window:
    - Under Layout tab, "Orientation" is "Landscape" ;
    - Under Paper/Quality tab, "Paper Source" is custom with Width 8.5" and Height 5.5".
    - Under Adobe PDF Settings tab, "Default Settings" is "High Quality Print (Custom)" with (Custom) being the settings I set under Acrobat > Preferences.
    - Also under Adobe PDF Settings tab, "Adobe PDF Page Size" is custom with Width 8.5" and Height 5.5".
    The result is pictured above.
    The last thing I did before posting this was run Help > Repair Acrobat Installation in Adobe X. Any suggestions? You can't do worse than I have.

    If you want to remove a background and add a new one Photoshop Element for Mac makes it rather easy to do:

  • How to design a "white" background in "black and white" ad on pink newsprint?

    Long-time Indesigner here, but I have never had this dilemma before. Am designing a "black and white" newpaper ad for a major paper that has a pink section, i.e. it prints on pink newsprint. So I know this is black ink only, hence the "black and white"...but when the "white of regular newsprint is pink, I am getting stumped. I see in their rate card ads with a white background and black ink on top of the pink newsprint, which is what I want to do. The ad has facial tones of a major recording artist, and I do not want the highlights of her face going pink. So how to I ad a "white" layer underneath this ad? Deadline is now, so please reply ASAP. I have inquiries into the paper but it is the weekend and nobody is getting back to me.

    Have they got a rate card: Check it! It may list a "white knockout advert" rate. I think:
    that to overprint adverts onto pink is limiting i think its a separation (unless they only want/cater for 1 colour (black) ads) unlike yellow pages where the the standard directory colours are blue, green, red and black (err... obv because of the yellow paper...) yellow pages also offer white knockout adverts (then yellow available) and CMYK adverts.
    So: you got to make sure that the advert is designed per spec: as you may know designing for newsprint is a lot more technical than gloss mags/sheet fed etc. You can always see in a newspaper who (designer) got it wrong.
    All the info should be on the rate card: just check the CI too: as white knockout may be a lot more expensive.

  • How to make UIPagecontrol of UIPageviewController transparent?

    I am using UIPageviewController in my application where i want to make UIPagecontrol of UIPageeviewController transparent.
    While giving background color to clear color its not working but when giving background color to any other color like red itsworking fine.

    With this image, it will be easiest to select the white background.
    1. I would recommend using the Quick Select Tool. Select the white background.
    2. Because you want the lung guy on his own layer not the white background, you need to invert the selection. Select<Inverse.
    3. Copy the lung guy onto his own layer. On PC, press ctrl + J. If on a Mac, the shortcut is cmd + J.
    4. You can now copy/paste lung guy in the desired photo. Alternately, you can drag his layer from the layers palette and drop him into the other document. (If the resolution of lung guy doesn't match your image's resolution, he will shrink or expand as his layer will take on the resolution of the document he is moved into.)
    Note: I would not use the lettering as you can see where the lung guy's image overlaps. It will be an easier project if you redo the lettering in Word or use the Photoshop Element's text tool...maybe with text warp and a layer style....to add the text.

  • How to make a selection partially transparent?

    Hi. I open a jpg image in PS, use a quick selection tool to select what I want and then I'd like to make that selection 80% transparent. How do I do that?
    Thank you.

    One way is to convert the background layer to a regular layer, add a layer mask after making the selection, invert the layer mask and use the masks panel to control the transparency (density setting) of the selection.
