PS 7 to CS3 Upgrade version

I just got a shrinkwrap version of PS CS3 upgrade. I have a full version of PS 7 installed on my machine.
Can I upgrade to this version. Adobe supports upgrades from 3 versions back, but I read somewhere that after Oct 2008, I won't be able to upgrade to CS3 - It doesn't make sense. Can some one clarify? Thanks in advance.

I'm just chiming in so you will be sure to understand the above answers, which are correct.  CS3 is the last version that can be upgraded from version 7.  So you are good, assuming that the CS3 upgrade is legitimate.  Ask book store if they have a return policy.  There are many shrink rapped copies that look real and may even run for a few days.  Best advice is call adobe about serial number is best.

  • Can't find CS2 serial to install CS3 upgrade version (*@*! Yosemite)

    Hi all,
Am having to re-install my CS3 (old I know, but still does the job) after having to wipe my hard drive after making the mistake of upgrading my OS to Yosemite... trouble is, as it was the upgrade version (had to install CS2 first) I now need to enter my CS2 serial - which I don't have.
Still waiting for answer on the "Chat" service (customer support no longer 'does' customer support for this) and nothing in my products page in my Adobe ID so a little stuck at the mo !
    Any solution MUCH appreciated

    Hi Ned,
Thanks for the (extremely prompt!) answer - I've marked as "correct" as I reckon it would work (the installation dialogue box only required a valid CS2 serial and the one on the download link - 1130-0412-8377-1896-9751-5759 - should work, according to what the page states).
Fortunately I managed to find (an old sketchbook that I was using at the time that had a note of both my CS2 and CS3 serials so managed to finish my install from that... one advantage of hoarding old notebooks !
Thanks again, and much kudos to you !
NB. If anyone else has the same issue (re-installing the upgrade version of CS3) then there is no need to install CS2 first before installing CS3 - the system should know you had a valid CS2 and only requires the valid serial.

  • Installing CS3 Upgrade Version on a NEW PC

    Hello,
I've had a lot of problems contacting Adobe and hope you can help me.
I'm getting a new PC soon and want to install my copy of CS3 Design Standard. The disk here is an upgrade disk as I had the original creative suite (also an upgrade disk). Before that I had Photoshop 6.0, InDesign 2.0 etc.
How would I install CS3 successfully?
    Thanks!

How would I install CS3 successfully?
Probably not at all. New PC means Win 7 or Win 8 and CS3 is not compatible at all with the latter and exposes some not so minor issues with the otehr. Beyond that, if you feel adventurous, al lyou need is your CS3 and you will be asked for a serial of a previous product. Just expect this to be an unpleasant experience and don't say you haven't been warned. Of course you might end up happy like a kid on Christmas on the odd chance it may work without a hitch...

  • Can CS3 upgrade be used for 6.5?

Hi i'm currently using AE 6.5 pro(mac) and wondering if i can buy the CS3 upgrade version for it? I went down to the software store recently and the sales guy said i would need the full retail version because the CS3 upgrade needs at least AE7 installed.
Hope someone can help me on this and thanks!

The sales guy was incorrect. You can upgrade from version 5 upwards with current upgrade pricing.
You can upgrade from AE 6.5 Pro to AE CS3 for US $299.
You can upgrade from AE 6.5 Pro to CS3 Production Premium bundle for US $1199.

  • DW CS3 Upgrade

I've been using DW MX since it came out as part of the
Macromedia MX Studio but am finally thinking about upgrading at
last. I was just about to go and buy the DW CS3 upgrade version
when an assoc of mine said that the fact that it was part of an old
Studio suite means that it doesn't qualify for upgrade even though
the MX version technically does qualify. Can any of you guys and
    gals clarify please?

The Studio package offers not only Dreamweaver, but several
    other
programs at a considerably lower price than you would pay for
    each
program individually. In other words, you got Dreamweaver 8
    at a large
discount, so it doesn't qualify for an upgrade to Dreamweaver
    CS3.
However, it does qualify for an upgrade to one of the
    Creative Suite
packages, which contains several programs at a considerable
    discount.
    > Why to you fight against your own paying Customers ?
This is a user-to-user forum, so you're unlikely to get an
    official
response from Adobe here. However, what Adobe is doing is
    offering
continued discounts for customer loyalty. You got the
    advantage of the
cheap price when you bought Studio 8, and you'll get a
    similar cheap
price if you upgrade to one of the Creative Suite packages.
    But if you
want to switch to just using an individual program, you have
    to start
again. You can upgrade from a single program to a suite, but
    not
downgrade from a suite to a single program.

  • I have CS3 upgrade installed on a new Mac, the old one died. Can't boot it because it wants the version before CS2 serial

How can I retrieve my serial number that we paid $1,000.00 for on an older version? So we can use the upgraded one on my new one?

What OS is on your new Mac? I'm doubtful AE CS3 will even run if it's new!
The oldest version of AE that is okay to run on OSX v10.10 (Yosemite) is CS6 (After Effects version 11.0.4).
I'd recommend just upgrading to After Effects CC 2014. It's significantly cheaper than $1,000.00 (think $20 a month or $50 if you want the ENTIRE software suite)
The current version of AE is 13.1.1 - to compare, AE CS3 is version 8.0.2
If I remember correctly, CS3 was the first version of AE that even supported Intel processors on the Mac!
Anyway, in case it might work, the serial numbers should be on the case that the After Effects version 7 discs came in.
If you don't have a serial number on that disc and you were doing some form of online activation, you're in for some more fun! Adobe no longer supports CS2 online activation. Instructions for activating stuff from that long ago here: Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3

  • Requirements for Special Offer (CS3 Upgrade or Full Version?)

    Hello,
I'm thinking about upgrading from CS6 to Creative Cloud and have a question regarding the requirements for the special offer. On the website it says "Requires prior purchase of CS3 or later" and I'm wondering if I need a full version of CS or an upgrade? I have a Photoshop 6 (Full Version) and a "Design Standard CS3 Upgrade" - is this enought to qualify for the special offer?
That would also mean, I could sell my independet upgrade-packages of CS5 and CS6, since I would not have a need for them if I keep the CC-subscription.
    Thanks
    Jan

    Piotr,
Based on Dec9's comment, it sounds like an upgrade.
    However, you state:
had the licence transferred to me.
Did the seller furnish you with the "official" Adobe license transfers. There is paperwork involved, and did you get that? What does it say? Adobe makes it easy for a seller to transfer a license legally to another, and there is necessary paperwork involved. You should be, first able to see how Adobe noted the software, and if there is confusion, then will have something to use, when you contact Adobe C/S on licensing/Activation issues. Or, you'll have paperwork to use against the seller when you contact eBay.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Does an OEM version of Photoshop CS3 bought from a reseller qualify to get the upgrade version of Lightroom 5?

I wish to purchase Lightroom 5 at a discounted price and the upgrade version is attractive. I have an OEM version of Photoshop CS3 which I bought online downloaded from a reseller.  Is this OEM version accepted as eligible for the upgrade version?

As an alternative to the OEM route, the Lightroom+Photoshop bundle deal at $10 per month is hard to beat assuming you are not opposed to software as a subscription.

  • Adobe CS3 Upgrade on 2.4 GHz MacBook Pro

I am planning to purchase the new generation MacBook Pro in about a month.
My question is about Adobe CS3. I currently use CS2 on an older G4 PowerBook because I could not deal with the performance dip on the older MacBook Pro (1.83 GHz with 512MB RAM). So I have a licensed copy of CS2 for PPC. If I buy the Upgrade Version of CS3 at a much reduced price, will the transition to Universal work on a MacBook Pro? No more Rosetta? Performance problems solved?
I realize Rosetta probably struggled with my previous MacBook's speed and lack of RAM. But I don't want to go through that hair-pulling again. I don't get into that advanced PhotoShop, etc. of CS3 but I'm willing to upgrade just to have it Universal and be more reliable. And, of course, I'd like to save the $800 on having to buy the Full Version of the software.
    Thanks everyone for your feedback.
By the way, I had the same performance issue with MS Office for Mac. Almost 30 seconds to open Word! Anyone know if this becomes a non-issue with newer Macbook Pros??
    1.8 PowerPC G5 3GB DDR SDRAM Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Your problem your your previous MBP was simply RAM. 512MB when trying to use CS2 products is simply insanity. If you opt for a new MBP with the standard 2GB, better still with an upgrade to 4GB, then CS3 will perform extremely well. RAM us hugely important and one of the biggest bottlenecks in today's hardware and software requirements.

I'm trying to install Adobe Photoshop CS3 on a new ASUS ASM11BB001O computer equipped with 64-bit Windows 7.  I use a "bundle" approach, first loading Photoshop 6, then upgrading with CS upgrade and then CS3 upgrade.  The installation goes smoothly until I add PS CS, and then it balks at the "accept" Adobe conditions screen.  I have two other (Gateway) computers with Windows 7, 64-bit, on both of which the PS-6, CS-CS3 pathway worked fine.  Any thoughts on how to get this working?  Thanks

If your goal is to install and activate CS5 there is no need to install anything preceding it.  You will only need to have the serial number from the preceding version that you upgrade from (CS3 I guess).

  • Adobe Photoshop CS & CS3 upgrade issues

I have recently obtained an original disc of adobe photoshop CS and an original disc of adobe photoshop CS3 upgrade to install on my Imac which is running lion at the moment, only to be told that power pc programmes are no longer recognised. I was intending to install the  original Photoshop CS and then upgrade it to CS3, however due to this issue i cant install the original disc.
I have read that if i revert back to snow leopard then i would be able to install these programms without issue, but the question is then if i then update the OS system to lion, would the updated version of photoshop CS3 still work, being on the back of CS? or would it stop working?
If this updated programme does not work, am i better having a partitioned disc just to run snow leopard and to use photoshop, and if this is the case would i be able to access all saved images and files when running the lion side of the partition in order to sync these with i cloud and my ipad?
    regards

The bootable Snow Leopard partition is the way I would do it.
    Borrowed from Kappy,
    Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    7. After formatting is complete quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard being sure to select the external drive as the target.
Note that you will need a Snow Leopard DVD. The above will only work for you if you can boot your computer from a Snow Leopard DVD. If you have a new model that came with Lion pre-installed then the above will not work because a Snow Leopard retail DVD cannot boot your model.
Then install your CS and CS3 and run them in SL. If the images are stored in a seperate drive/partition then it should work seamlessly.

  • Installing CS3 Upgrade On New Laptop That's Not Had Full Install

    Frustrated!
Got a new laptop for Christmas. OS is Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
    My original full is Version 5, which has been upgraded to 5.5 - 6 - 7 - CS2 & CS3.
CS3 upgrade is currently installed on my desktop machine running Window XP SP2.
I'm trying to install on my new laptop as my 2nd install, but the installation keeps failing!
With each attemt I expect to be asked to stick the original install disc (version 5) to verify but that does not happen, it never asks for it!
I have tried both Run as administatror and also in XP compatibility mode with zero results.
Am I going to need to install the full version 5 and then go through installing upgrades until I get to CS3? I'm trying to avoid all that time if possible!

Near as I can tell you haven't named one specific error message in all your posts above.
Could you be a little more specific about what's going wrong when you say:
    Sapphire Studios wrote:

You've leapt to the conclusion that it's a problem with the software being an upgrade; I'd like to confirm that, that's all.
By the way, there were problems with even Photoshop CS5 working on some AMD processors up until an update was released (well after the initial release of PS CS5)...  Not sure if this has anything to do with what you're doing, but if even more modern versions of Photoshop didn't get along with AMD processors there could be a compatibility issue...  Did Photoshop CS3 specifically claim compatibility with the type of AMD processor you have, or is there too much of a time difference between them?
