PS and CPROJECTS implementation

We are running SAP since 1998, and already implemented many modules in the R/3 system and other SAP systems as CRM. We would like to implement a solution for project Management for our projects division, Which is a group that manage a big projects that involve a lot of logistics (material and Service purchasing) a lot of integration with MM and CO and involve a lot of contracting companies that should be managed. Currently they are doing the GANT in MS-Project with no link to R/3 and mange all material demand in R/3.
I would like to know if we should try to implement full project management in PS or to move forward to the direction of cProjects linked to our R/3 system.
We afraid that since the cProjects is out of the R/3 there will be integration problems we also not sure if the tool was originally designed for heavy scale projects with a lot of logistics.
What would you recommend?
Are there any reference sites with a similar profile to us that have implemented a solution based on cProjects?

Its would be good if u implement PS first and then slowly move to c-projects. This would be good in your case as u have already implemented others modules.
The reasons why i'm supporting the implementation of PS is:
1)c-projects is generally used for new product development and program management(managing large scale small projects under a single program.
2)The account integartion for c-projects is again depends on either internal order/WBS element (CO/PS) which are to be created in R/3
3)U can assign only resource cost(overhead) to c-projects all other cost are to maintain the internal order/WBS Element and shown in c-project.
4)All the funcionalities of c-projects are possible in PS.
5) For heavy scale projects with lot of logistics and accounting its suggested to have PS.
But if u want to use the unique functionalities of c-projects such as FMEA, control plans etc. which are very important for automobile industry (R&D), its better to go for c-projects

Hello Prashanth,
SAP xAPPS provides this feature. xRPM and cProjects are web based applications which are tightly integrated with SAP PS.
The configuration is done in R/3 backened for the same and front end is web based application. But note that they are not a part of SAP PS soln and are seperate apllications.

XPD and cProjects integration

Hi All,
We are implementing xPD 2.0 and cProjects 4.0.
The scenario of integrating the two is that, in the concept stage, a project in cProject will be created from xPD.
The master guide of xPD 2.0 states that "<i>You can connect additional back-end systems, such as SAP cProjects, to the SAP xPD landscape using SAP Exchange Infrastructure</i>". But this requirement is not mentioned any where else in the other documents.
Will somebody be able to highlight on this requirement?
Any inputs will be highly appreciated.

PL/SQL and Java implementation

Hi all,
We need to implement a fast solution for reporting to our existing web application. Application is totally based on stored procedures written in PL/SQL.
We have already java classes for drawing different types of charts
named Chartdirector (http://www.advsofteng.com/)
This library can create chart images in memory.
I have already read about calling java classes from PL/SQL and SQLJ too.
My questions are;
1. Is this safe to include classes to database and create
reports by using loadjava in real life. I mean not in theory, in real life?
2. Is there any experiments of the audience about this method?
3. Would it be any performance problems about this?
4. Should i prefer to use any Java container and jsps instead of this method?
I will continue to research for necessary steps after i could see the light :)

Yes.

Experiments and actual implementation - yes. It works. Granted, it does not always work as easy as running the Java code from the command line. But it does work.

This is a potential problem with any software code.
4. Should i prefer to use any Java container and jsps instead of this method?
To be honest, I prefer not using Java for web graphics as I'm not impressed with the quality and flexibility of the graphs generated. I prefer using (and paying for commercial use) for the JPGraph classes for PHP - and using that from PL/SQL (via Zend Core for Oracle).
Another option is to use SVG and generated SVG directly from PL/SQL. But this requires a browser plugin and SVG also does not look that great. (this is btw what Oracle's HTMLDB does and uses)

Differences between US and UK implementations for HR and Benefits

Need to know any information about implementing Oracle HR and basic benefits in Europe (France localization with rollup of others). I have HR, OAB implementation experinece in US. Want to understand the differences between US implementations and UK implementations. Any reference documents welcome.

Thanks very much for the links. However, I've already gone through the standard documentation in SAP and they are a bit too high level/vague for me. I have considerable experience in xRPM, cProjects Suite and have good grasp of project management concepts, tool and techniques. My knowledge of PS is somewhat limited though.
What I am specifically looking for is what type integration options and scenarios are available. For example, cProjects can have phases and tasks defined. How would these integrate with for example WBS elements and networks in PS? What are the things you would do in cProjects and not PS and vice versa? Hope my question is clearer now.

Item and cProjects link to PS - Mass Upload

Hi,
We are on PPM5.0, having PPM and SAP-PS on different servers.
We have uploaded Item and cProjects to PPM (using excel upload).
We are now required to link each of these projects to SAP-PS project.
What program/function module can help? We are using manual, task-based costing.
Also, to carry out Financial Plannig, it is required to object-link the SAP-PS project to the Item. Which program/FM will help achieve this link?
Summary:
- Item-cProjects uploaded (using excel upload)
- Each of the cProjects projects is to be linked to a PS project programtically (like it is done under the "Accouting" tab, for costing).

Hi,
it is possible to use handling unit management together with warehouse management. You activate handling unit management independent from storage unit management. Only in case if storage location is full-WM- AND HU-managed, the storage unit management is always active and HU numbers are taken over as SU numbers. In all other cases HUM and SUM are independent from each other and number ranges must be set a way that they are not overlapping.

Send Workflow email to User SAP Inbox with a Popup and cproject link

Hi,
I am working SAP portfolio and project management workflow.
Requirement: Trigger workflow when Portfolio Execution Decision Point status changes,
We have to send two email notifications as part of the requirement;
First notification should go to user’s (Only one user) SAP Inbox, Containing two links
Popup link (It will contain list of question which the user has to confirm) if he
confirms we have to send second email notification. (Pop-up layout is attached)
Link for the user to navigate to SAP PPM cProject to upload the documents. (NWBC)
The second notification should go to Outlook of the users (via group email) with Link for the user to navigate to SAP PPM cProject.
We can trigger the workflow using event DECISION_POINT_STATUS_CHG in Class CL_RPM_DECISION. My question is how should design the pop-up and incorporate the Pop-up and cproject link in first notification email sent to user SAP Inbox.
Please let me know if you need more details.

We use transaction NWBC to login to netweaver business client. Then from there we navigate to Project management view and double click to select the project. It opens project element --> Collaborations tab. There we select the folder link. (screenshot attached)
Regarding addition of multiline container element (Table) let's say 'A'; I create multiline container element A in Workflow element list, Populated element A using a utility class/method assigned to a background task.
Then, I created a user decision task, inside the task container another multiline container element 'B' with same type and I did binding b/w workflow container element 'A' and task container element 'B'.
Now, I am passing &B& in the decision task description. If I execute the workflow, The user decision task description is blank.
Secondly, I did not get any pop-up asking how to display it (all lines with line break).
PS: My internal table also has only one field.
Am I doing something wrong here?
