PS and QM integration in R&D projects

Dear experts,
I am working in a pharma R&D project. Client want to use SAP PS for their R&D projects.
I wanted to know the integration between PS & QM.
The scenario is as under.
They consume some raw materials against activity and conduct the experiments. The out put of the experiments are to be recorded in the system. It is similar to that of inprocess quality inspection of PP.
I think this is only possible, if there is quality inspection lot for the activity. Is it possible to generate any inspection lot for the network activity or WBS elements?

Dear Praveen,
You may be aware no direct integration with SAP PS and QM. It may help you below points
1. Please create planned order through SAP PS. From Planned order, you create purchase order or production order. Do the goods receipt against that orders. Inspection lots will be created at the time of GR.
2. Create manual inspection lot (Inspection lot origin 89) and add some customized fields in QA01 transaction to address Project system related information like WBS element, Project number.
@ praveen , i would like know your business if it is only interal tarcking purpose or you do produce Molucules or API for particluar Customer.if that is case, business can map with respect to WBS bom with project along production activites every process step wise quality check can be done.

SInce you want to try a test scenario including MDM and XI, I would suggest you to try
ECC -> XI->MDM scenario
Wherein you can take the data from ECC in the form of IDOCs and convert them into XML.
You can then import the XML into an MDM repository. MDM repository can be a Customer, Material, Vendor etc repository. Hence extract the similar data from ECC.
Kindly follow the steps below:
1) Firstly you will have to extrcat the look-up table data from R3 using MDMGX transaction-

2) For loading the main Table Data into MDM, kindly follow the link below, which will guide you to the config/prcoess that will be required for the data to be uploaded from R3 into MDM.

You will have to extract the data from R3 in the form of IDOCS and then using XI, you will have to convert them into XML format as MDM understands that.

I think most of your questions have already been answered.
Regarding the difference from SAP SRM, the E-Sourcing product is Java based and it takes lesser time to setup.
Configuration is through the UI.
Functionally, the benefits are very similar between ES and SRM - however E-Sourcing additionally supports Contract Document Authoring and Forward Auctions.
From the technical configuration point, Java and SQL skills are needed for customizations.
Also ES is available as an On-demand product.

PP is not a major player in PS as far as integration is concerned. It is through Material Management that Production Planning is informed of Production Orders using special settings in the Material Master.
One another area, the PP and PM modules share Work Centers with Project System.
The Work Center is needed for Capacity Planning and Planning costs. If we integrate this Work Center with HR module, we will be able to select only the people who have been assigned to the Work Center. We can specify the amount of work the individual will contribute. This forms the basis for capacity planning.

PS - Process
After creating the project next step is u want to do cost, Revenue & Budget Planning for the project
in the t-codes CJ42, CJ30 & CJ40 respectively. Next step is creating the Sale order in va01 T-code.
But I have internal project scenario, example: Overhauling of DG set. Assigned work enter & Workforce & also material to network. So shall I do costing? As explained! Is it necessary to create of Sales Order?
CMP2 - Assign workforce to activities
CAT2 - Transfer actual time to CATS. In CAT2 we have record the actual timing correct for an activity, on day basis & with personal number.
MD51 - Run Project MRP to create Planned orders.
MD04, ME21N, MIGO - Convert planned orders to purchase requisitions and P.O, and goods receipt.
MB1A - once the goods are brought is project stock; the same needs to be consumed by mb1a -281 Q on the project.
CJ20n - Attach milestones as per the payment terms.
VA02 - Copy billing plan to sales order.
VF01 - Billing
CJ20n - Project tech complete and closure.

Assets and PS will be integrated with the WBS elements,
All the Project systems are created in to WIP and moved to WBS element which is linked to cost code and settled to Final Assets.
Project will be created as WBS elements and PS is also used for opex POs.

What version are you on of EBS? My comments will apply to EBS 11i, though probably pretty much the same for EBS.

Oracle Payables Integration--Expense Reports

reports in Oracle Projects and use Oracle Payables to create invoices from the expense
reports, maintain and track payments of them, and transfer the accounting transactions
to Oracle General Ledger.
The above was copied in from the Oracle Project Fundamentals Guide. The Oracle Project Costing User Guide and Oracle Payables User Guide also cover the integration between AP and PA. As a general rule, the flow is from Payables into Project Costing, though if you get into expense reports there can be some flow going from Projects to Payables.
Not sure what you are looking for in regards to Procure to Pay cycle. You may have to be more specific in exactly what you are looking for here. Most of the procure to pay reporting is going to be done out of purchasing and payables, in my mind. Project Accounting really does not do any kind of payables reporting - just project costing and project billing reporting. Now project costs would include invoice costs, among the various costing sources, but the amount of detail in the project cost distribution detail history for payables information is minimal, in my opinion. Others may disagree with that statement.

LDAP and SAP integration

Hi,
As a part of a project requirement, we are trying to integrate Solution manager with LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol).
Using the directory service, we are trying to synchronize the CUA (Central user administration within Solution manager) with Active directory of LDAP so that we can maintain the User data centrally from a single point in LDAP.
Problem description:
Currently, Client has implemented the LDAP and CUA integration and when a new user is added in LDAP, it is automatically getting copied in all SAP systems and at real time, when the useru2019s u201CLASTNAMEu201D field is updated in LDAP, it is automatically getting synchronized in all SAP systems.
But, If any attribute other than u201CLASTNAMEu201D is changed (i.e. The expiry /validity date of the User in LDAP, GLTGB in SAP), then the field value is not getting synchronized in the SAP Central User Adm.
Our Findings:
We have checked the configurations and imported mappings in SAP Solution Manager and everything looks fine. We have debugged the standard program RSLDAPSYNC_USER extensively and found out that an RFC call to function module LDAPRFC_SEARCH is not returning the expected values.

OES and WebCenter Integration And PEP API Issues

Hi All,
Currently we want to develop a WebCenter app which will check Authentication Policy in Oracle Entitlement Server using PEP API.
We encountered some issues, and have following questions:
1. According to PEP sample API, seems the PEP client application could only connect to the OES which is deployed on the same container context (same WLS domain).
Is that possible for our PEP client application to connect to OES which is deployed on a different WLS domain or even remote WLS?
2. Currently we deployed our WebCenter Spaces and OES on different WLS domains, is this a common pattern for WebCenter and OES integration?
We got following error while starting up OES, after we try deploying OES 11.1.1.5.0 and WebCenter Portal 11.1.1.6.0 together on a WLS (10.3.5) domain.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Finally I found the error I got was because of the wrong version of JDeveloper and WebCenter extension.
Portal apps which created by JDev 11.1.1.6.0 are not able to run on WebCenter 11.1.1.1.5, while the ones created by JDev 11.1.1.1.5 with WC extension 11.1.1.4.0.120306 work.
Looks like it's not a good idea to mix FMW products of different version in a single project.

Can C# dll's be integrated with a LabWindows project?

Hi,
I've integrated C++ dlls into LabWindows projects before, but recently I've been given a C# project that I would like to use instead of deconstructing the source and reconstructing it in C++.
Is there any way of doing this and if so what are the differences between C++ and C# integration? Or am I looking at a minimum of a C++ wrapper?

When I create a link to the C# dll I get a .fp, .c, and .h file which I naturally build into my project
At the top of the .h file are listed the following:

I note that there is no Destructor type call to compliment the Create
In the required functionality I call the Initialise_TB_USB routine, then the Create routine - followed by all the other stuff I need to do, and finally the Close routine.
However I know from experiment that this doesnt destroy the object created by the Create routine, as if I come in again I can still access the previously created objects functions.
So how do I go about destroying the instance of the dll I assume I've created. I have put a default constructor and destructor in the C#, but this doesnt seem to have had any effect.
What am I missing?

Integrating SO to Oracle Projects

Hi team
Can anybody suggest if:
- we can integrate sales orders - internal and external, from OM to Oracle Projects; without using Inventory and without installing Oracle Manufacturing.
- what are the integration points and pre-reqs between OM and PA to work with or without Inventory, but without Oracle Manufacturing.

I have done some testing on this since and have found that if enter a purchase order in Orcle PO uisng either Period End Accrual method or Perpetual (At Receipt Accrual method) then a commitment will be transferred to Oracle Projects. However, when the PO is receipted, only the Perpetual method will interface the accrual to Oracle Projects (and reverses the commitment) and include in actual balance there. This has been confirmed in Oracl User Guide and Oracle consulting.

Can Camtasia and Captivate be combined into one project?

Is there a way to seamlessly combine Camtasia and Captivate into a single Captivate project? I'd like to capture screens with Camtasia but use Captivate for its quiz interactivity at the end of the project. Camtasia does a better job of editing screens, zooms and pans are better, but the downside is the larger file size. So, Camtasia would be the first part of the project and Captivate would be the second part. Two projects integrated into one. Any ideas?

Interesting thought on combining. No way exists that I'm aware of to seamlessly slice, dice and splice.
You did say someting I'd like to see some clarification on.

Why is it you feel Camtasia is better at editing? To my knowledge Captivate is better at that. Here's what I mean.
With Camtasia, it's like recording using an older 8MM camera. You end up with film. Now you can split the film apart, trim segments out and splice segments together, but you cannot (to my knowledge and I stand to be corrected on this) edit frames to remove or alter information. For example, in Captivate if I record a screen containing sensitive data such as a person's account number, I'm able to edit the image to obliterate the account number. I might have to repeat the process over a few different slides to do it, but it's reasonably easy to do. I don't believe the same capability exists with Camtasia.
One thought here is that perhaps you might create Flash based SWF output from Camtasia. (I think it will output SWF - If not, choose FLV) Then create a single slide Captivate and insert that SWF or FLV as an object on the slide. Then configure the container Captivate to open your other quiz project.
Or, in thinking that way, just insert a blank slide in your quiz project and place the Camtasia content on that blank slide.

Is there any combination for QM and EHS (Environmental Health & safety Module)
I know its deferent module but clients required to implement some main scenario's
pls help me to send what are functionality of EHS with combination QM module

plz note tht their is no direct integration of QM nd PS .
1.if ur reqirement is like if u want to test the project material then you can activiate QM tab in MM02 and so while doing GR of project materials inspection lot gets triggerred and you can carry out your testing cycle and you need to mention data related to sampling procedure and sampling size...etc
2.You can trigger inspection lot via PM also by the following procedure....
1.Create tht plant as eqpt in PM IE01,
2.Create a WBS in ur proj and assign ur eqpt for tht WBS.
3.Now you can carry out ur testing process tht eqpt in PM .
4.Congif for testing in PM , create order type PM05 , assign 14 inspection type to ur order type.
5.Create characteriscs in CTO4.
6.Goto qs21and create MIC nd use the above charcteristics created in CTO4.
7.Goto ia05 nd enter ur eqpt no nd maintain tasklist nd inspection point 300 to be maintained in task list for eqpt.
8.in ip41 ur maintenance category would be inspection lot ,
enter ur eqpt no,tasklist,cycle as every30days. nd maintain start of cycle nd save the plan,got to ip10 nd click start nd this wil schedule ur plan.
9.This wil generate your inspection lot for every thirty days and you can do results recording in QE51N,nd usage decision in QA11.
Take the help of PM consultant...ther is do direct integration of PS nd QM...
