PS CC'14 Mac Font Not Populating

Font that is installed in my font book will not populate in PS. Cannot find any option to add additional fonts except through TypeKit. Other fonts I have installed to my font book have showed up in PS, but this one in particular is not. Any ideas how I can get this font to populate as a font option?

If Photoshop won't list the font, then that means that either the OS or Photoshop consider the font to be corrupt and unusable (and there are a LOT of corrupt fonts out there).

  • Itunes 11 / 11.04 for Mac - Fonts not working

    Hi All,
I need some help. My fonts in itunes are not visible in certain places.
The worst is the center panel in the tool bar, which i cannot read. You can read the botton few pixels sometimes.
This is a problem when playing music and syncing especially.
Also the fonts in the second column below are also missing.
I have read many of the other discussions and have tried the following:
    - Unistalled itunes and re-installed
    - Uninstalled Segoe fonts and re-installed
    - Uninstalled and re-installed Helvetica
    - Clean out my font cahce numeral times
I am not really sure what to do any more. There seems to be alot of answers for this quesion on Windows, but not too many on Mac.
Does anyone have any further ideas? This has been the same since i intalled itunes 11. I keep thinking they are going to fix it in the next version, but alas no luck.
If anyone has any further ideas that would be great.
    Thanks
    Caroline

Can you check something for me please? I'd like to try doing a "Run as administrator" on your iTunes.
    Quit iTunes first.
In Computer, open Local Disk C: or whichever drive you have your program files installed on.
If you have a 32-bit Windows, open the "Program files" folder.
If you have a 64-bit Windows, open the "Program Files (x86)" folder.
    Open the "iTunes" folder.
Right-click on the iTunes.exe file and select "run as administrator".
Can you access the Store now?
(Permissions issues can sometimes mimic other problems ... if that's what is going on, the "Run as administrator" thing can sometimes get past the issue.)

  • Some fonts not showing up on Mac

I produced an e-book on typography for maps. It was produced on a PC and converted to pdf using the PowerPoint 2007 Save As PDF option. My customers who are on PCs have not had any trouble viewing all the fonts shown in the e-book exactly as they should be. However, two of my Mac customers (perhaps more, I do not know) are having black boxes show up where the letters should be. This only happens for certain fonts. For example, AUdimat (OpenType) is not showing up but Gentium Plus (OpenType) is. The fonts are embedded in the file. Any ideas? Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
It may even be that the fonts are showing up in regular mode (the customers have Acrobat Pro, I believe) but not when it prints or is in Preview or QuickLook. It is a mystery to me.

I originally thought it was a Mac versus PC issue but now (re: previous comment) it looks to be that the Save as PDF option did not save all the fonts. Some of the fonts saved were OpenType some of the fonts not saved were OpenType. So it doesn't appear to be an OpenType issue. If I were to purchase Acrobat Standard or Pro would I be able to embed all the fonts? Maybe it is because I am using PowerPoint 2007's Save as PDF that is the problem but I am just not sure. I tried signing up for Adobe CreatePDF but then found out that my file size is too big for that program (it's 12 mb whereas the file size limit for Create PDF is 10 mb). Thanks again for reading...

  • Font not available in Photoshop CS6 or Illustrator CS6 (Mac)

I have installed the Frutiger font family in the font library. It appears in the drop-down menu in InDesign, but not Photoshop or Illustrator. How can I make the font available in these programs?

It’s a ttf file – Frutiger. I’ve managed to get it into InDesign, but not Photoshop or Illustrator. Always seem to have problems with this font!

  • Some Fonts Not Compatible with Intel Macs?

    ID CS3.
I have an Intel Mac running Tiger, and opened a ID CS3 file and installed the PostScript fonts that travelled along with it. Or tried to anyway! :)
The fonts would make FAP3 quit when I'd try to import them. And they wouldn't work properly if I installed them manually in ~/Library/Fonts.
    Corrupt fonts I'm a thinking!
So I diagnosed them in Font Doctor which found no problems at all.
Then I tried using the fonts and the ID CS3 file on an older PPC Mac, and everything works perfectly!
Has anyone heard of PostScript fonts not working at all on Intel Macs?

Thanks Nini, but I also went to the extent of installing a new internal HD and installing & fully updating the OS on it. Same problem.
I believe Buko is correct about these fonts. Customer is going to need to buy new ones! :)

  • When creating PDF from web page why does text appears as strange font not readable?

I am using Acrobat Standard, ver. 9.5.5.  Frequently if I save a web page on either Firefox or Internet Explorer by printing to my Adobe PDF driver, much of the text is rendered in a strange font rather than in the font that appears on the web page.  The only work-around I have found is to print the document to a printer and then scan the printed page to create a PDF.  Is there a solution to this problem?

The OS may be an issue so what are you using Win7, Win8, XP, MAC, or other? In printing, what job settings are you using? When you open the PDF, check the properties (ctrl-D) to see if the fonts are embedded or not. The problem is likely related to the font not being embedded. The embedding may be a license issue for the font. Acrobat will only embed fonts that are properly licensed. You might try the Print or Press job settings that are a bit better to embedding all fonts.

  • Fonts not showing in Preview

I'm experiencing a most bizarre problem. All of a sudden last week Preview
decided to suddenly stop showing pdf files properly - many characters are
often missing and in some cases whole fonts (e.g. the italic version of a font) are missing. I can view the pdf in Acrobat (6) without any problem. I first noticed this with files I was creating using TeXShop, but it also happens when viewing pdf files using Safari. Rebooting the machine seems to work for a while, and then the whole thing starts over again. I can view the pdfs using Preview on other machines with 10.4.7 installed no problem. I've moved the plist and that had no effect. Running Console at the same time gives errors along the lines of the following (this was a particularly bad case where nothing appeared in Preview - the document was produced using TeXShop and used only Computer Modern fonts)
    Aug 24 11:01:33 ruppia /Applications/Preview.app/Contents/MacOS/Preview: can't find glyph 0.
    Aug 24 11:01:33 ruppia /Applications/Preview.app/Contents/MacOS/Preview: can't find glyph 0.
Any advice, suggestions, thoughts on how to fix this would be most appreciated as it is getting annoying to reboot my machine once or twice a day (it reminds me of using a W**** machine).
    Thanks,
    Adrian
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hi Mark,
Well, something is corrupt. The problem remains even after signing on
as another user. Now, another machine (also a quad core G5) is having
the same problem. This second mac has not shared files with the first one. Sometimes the glyphs from the fonts are just not
there, and at other times they are replaced with symbols.
One can immediately view the pdf properly and without error by opening it
    with Acrobat.
So this problem is intermittent (it goes away for a while after rebooting),
occurs whenever pdfs are viewed with Preview (e.g. from within Safari
or straight loadad into Preview). This is getting very very annoying.
I'm begining to think that only a total re-install will solve the problem,
but since it is now happening on a second machine, I'm worried that
    something more insidious is happening.

  • Fonts not showing up in InDesign CC 64bit

I find it extremely difficult to believe that Adobe have not found a solution to the issue of installed fonts not showing up in InDesign. If anybody has found a solution that does not include the "rewriting" of font types. Please assist. We specialize in Brand Management, and it becomes extremely challenging when Adobe InDesign does not show up the installed font in order to ensure Brand Management :/

    POSSIBLE SOLUTION
I'm not sure if this is the cause for anyone else, but I had the same symptoms--almost no fonts showing up in InDesigns Font dropdown options.
THE SOLUTION:  The new version of ID has two "font filter toggle button". They are the "Apply Favorite Filter", and "Apply Typekit Filter". It seem that in my install, the Typekit filter was on by default, which makes it so that the Font list only displays those fonts that originate from Typekit, as opposed to the thousand you have on your hard drive.
Click the toggle to turn off the filter and --zowee! All your fonts come right back.
I hope this helps some of you. It would also explain why people on both Macs and Windows boxes are having this issue.
    Best,
    Lance

  • Fonts not showing up in Flash CS5

Maybe I'm missing something simple but I just can't get some fonts to appear in Flash cs5  on mac osx. they work fine in Photoshop / Illustrator, but don't appear in Flash.

  • Activated fonts not appearing in Illustrator?

I'm running Illustrator CS on a Dual PPC G5 running OS 10.3.9. I have an OpenType font active (using Linotype FontExplorer to manage fonts) and can use the font in all programs except the Adobe ones (Illustrator and Photoshop). Why would the font not appear there? I need it for a logo that I have to manipulate into a vector graphic, but I can't do anything if it won't appear in the type menu. Any ideas as to what's going on and how I can fix this?

    Christine,
Did you by any chance create the fonts yourself? OpenType fonts shouldn't cause any more trouble than Type 1 if they are correctly made and named.
If their names show up incorrectly or if they don't show up at all, it's probably because someone did something wrong in Font Info when he was making the font. If you make use of the Build Names thingummy in FontLab Studio it can save you a lot of this kind of trouble. I have done quite a bit of this kind of work - adding Icelandic characters to fonts and that sort of thing - and find that it's absolutely essential to do things right if you want to avoid problems in FontExplorer.
It can sometimes happen too that fonts are made specifically for Windows, in which case they may need to be edited and re-saved for Mac before you can use them so that they work perfectly. You can often get a Windows font to work well on a Mac but you should keep your eyes open for glitches all the same.
And another thing, you may occasionally need to restart Illy when you've made changes to fonts in FontExplorer. This doesn't happen often these days but still crops up occasionally all the same.

  • Fonts not showing correctly only when on my account page on app store

fonts not showing correctly only when on my account page on app store

Firstly, make sure that your device is not hidden (left hand pane). If it just reads device then toggle between SHOW and HIDE.
Secondly, try all the other ports on your computer, even a number of times.
Thirdly, if you have another computer try plugging your device into it without taking any action, give it a moment, remove it and try it back in your other computer again.
Failing all that, see here - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 for Windows and http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591 for Macs
And failing all that put the device into Recovery mode. See here and note the paragraph 'If you restore from a different computer.... ' down near the bottom of the page -

  • D'oh! - Font not embedded in *live* iOS App.

    Hello everyone,
Yay! Our first digital Magazine is live.
    L+L MAG App
We have put a lot of work into it. Check it out
But now I want to cry
    Because of this...
    What's wrong?
The font (http://www.fontshop.com/fontlist/super_families/ff_din/) in one section of our app is not showing up correctly. On the menu in the 2nd screenshot you can (can't) see the arrows (Wingding Regular) turning into blocks.
We could not reproduce these errors during our local tests and we just realized this after the app went live.
    What we have done
Submitted and packaged the App from the same Mac on which we designed the magazine (inDesign)
Tested the app multiple times locally on our iPads
Please get in touch with me
    Oliver Ruehl

    Hi,
Maybe I have to start from another angle with 2 questions:
    1) How are fonts actually processed when packaged into an app?
We need to understand this for our inDesign production process for larger projects. What happens in detail?
    2) Is there some kind of limitation if a font is not licensed for use on the web etc.?
We own all the rights to the fonts in our app, but are we missing something here in regards to the license?
Are some fonts not integrated if they miss a license e.g. for web use?
I'd be happy to hear from you soon
    Oliver

  • Cyrillic (cp1251) font not working

    Hello all!
I installed a cyrillic font called ER Kurier 1251, but it works for English characters only. Some other font is used to display Russian characters, as if Mac OS X didn't find them in this font.
Although, when I browse this font in Font Book, Russian letters are there!
    Can anybody make it work?
    Anton
Here's the link to the font:
    http://brama.com/compute/mac/fonts/ERKurier1251.hqx
(I used the free Unarchiever utility to unpack it, because the Mac OS's standard utility didn't extract them correctly. Also I can e-mail the unpacked file to those you will be interested.)
And here's another post that I came upon, which may shed some light on the problem:
"Regarding the compatibility of old Cyrillic TrueType fonts working with OS X, there is a bug in how OS X reads these fonts: they surely continue to work as such, but even if such fonts were recognized by Mac OS 9 to be compatible with the Cyrillic language kit, this does not necessarily mean that these fonts will be recognized by OS X as Cyrillic fonts - they may be treated as Latin fonts (in OS 9 terms: fonts for the Roman Script) simply containing Cyrillic characters - and then you loose the ability to switch fonts in apps that are Unicode-aware.
The issue actually depends on how such fonts were created, and the bug affects fonts consisting of several weights that were grouped into a font family (so that you can select the weight by applying the appropriate style)."

That doesn't seem to help. I already have Russian (Cyrillic Mac)keyboard layout, which came with Mac OS X. Now I have downloaded ER Kurier Mac (which is in Mac Cyrillic encoding). Still not working...
The keyboard layouts that Apple provides with OS X are Unicode only. To type with a font in a legacy encoding you must install something else which maps the character codes 128-255 (hex 80-FF) used for Cyrillic in the legacy charset to the normal keys.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacCyrillic_encoding
Whether such layouts will function correctly is another question, but it is worth a try. You could even try making one yourself for cp 1251 using Ukelele.

  • Adobe Illustrator CS5 - Fonts not found

We are changing our user from a Mac to a Windows (7) based computer and we are running in to issues with files that she created on the Mac version of Adobe Illustrator. She used some fonts (AGaramond-BoldItalic for example) and it works great on the Mac. I copied all the font files to the windows computer and made sure they work (opened Illustrator and created a document with the fonts).
The issue now is that when we open the old documents from the Mac on the Windows computer it gives an error "Font not found on the system; missing font has been substituted."
I am not sure how to tell the file that the fonts Are there because when it opens all the fonts are to a default Arial.
    So far I have tried:
    Removing all Adobefnt*.lst files
Resetting adobe settings by holding ctrl+alt+shift and opening the program
Testing the file on a brand new user account
    uninstall and reinstall the program
    None of these have worked.

There are more cache files than the adobefnt files.  See here for more detailed instructions on cleaning your font caches. That said, it sounds likely that the issue is that your fonts are mac only, as Larry said above.  You should be able to use Type -> Find Font... to replace them with whatever version you have on the PC but watch for formatting/flow changes.  Also, my condolences to your designer. ;-)

  • Fonts not available in apps

Just got new MacBook Pro, loaded with OS 10.6.7. Copied fonts from old mac to home/library/fonts folder. Adobe CS apps and Quark only listing system fonts and Windows ttfs in font menus. Not even the open type fonts are listed.  Why are these fonts not showing in these apps? All passed validation in Font Book.

Did you repair permissions and restarted your computer after the font installatons?
