PS CC 2014 lags with Wacom tablet

Using the PS CC 2014 with Intuos Pro tablet -- the lagginess is significant.
Switching back to PS CC x64 demonstrates problems with the new PS version.
Are there some preferences or changes to system that are needed to correct the problems?

Sorry, no solution to the problem, but a confirmation. I do have the same problem (Intuos Pro and Pen & Touch) showing the problem with ACR 8.5 and Photoshop (2014, CC and 6, these were updated with ACR 8.5) . No such problem before ACR 8.5 and no problem with LR 5.5 (also containing ACR 8.5).
I hope there will be a solution from Adobe soon, since sems to be caused by the ACR update.
Windows 8.1 in my case and latest Wacom Intuos driver installed.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 incompatible with Wacom tablets?

Hey everyone, so I'm having a lot of issues with my Wacom tablets and PS CC 2014. So, I have two tablets hooked up to my computer (and before you ask, no, the issues don't stem from two tablets being connected to the computer. I already tested that.) A Cintiq 21UX and an Intuos 5. Both work very well and as you would expect in Photoshop CC, however in CC 2014 they have loads of problems. On the Cintiq, while I get great, fluid lines with the brush tool I can't change my eraser's size on the fly by rotating my pen like usual. It's very annoying and absolutely destroys workflow. Now, the eraser works, but the size can't be changed by flipping the pen from the brush tool like it normally would be able to. That's just the issue with the Cintiq though, on the Intuos 5 there's no pen pressure whatsoever! It just thinks the pen is a mouse, on both sides of it. I'm certain this isn't a driver issue, as the tablets have their drivers up-to-date and work perfectly with both Photoshop CC (standard) and Corel Painter X3.
Does anyone know how I could fix these issues?

I'm on Windows 8.1 with an Intuos4 tablet.  I updated to photoshop CC 2014 and after updating the tablet driver so I had the use Windows Ink checkbox I got the pressure sensitivity back but the lines are horrible and jagged so I'm trying to revert to the old implementation following your instructions and created the txt file named PSUserConfig.txt with the lines
    # Use WinTab
    UseSystemStylus 0
That worked to get pressure sensitivity to work whether or not the Windows ink box was checked but didn't fix the jagged lines.
I'm not sure I understand the second part of your instructions about turning off gestalt's functionality (Not even sure what that is) Is there supposed to be a PSUSerConfig.txt file because there wasn't one until I just saved the one I made.  Is any of this even going to fix the jagged lines or is that a whole different issue?
Everything works just fine in Photoshop CC 64bit

  • Photoshop CS4 brush lag with wacom tablet

I've upgraded to photoshop CS4 extended recently and all my brushes that worked fine under CS3 are now with a real lag.
I've installed the latest version of photoshop ( Adobe Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 update ) and the latest update for my wacom tablet, but the lag remains.
My computer is a new "24 imac:
    -  2,66 GHz intel Core 2 duo processor
    -  4 GB memory
    -  NVIDIA GeForce 9400
I use my tablet and photoshop a lot, but with this lag it's terrible to draw..
Is there someone who can help me with this or has the same problems ?
    thanks in advance

Glad I could be of service.
Speaking of services, if you are running Vista or Windows 7 (not XP) you should turn off tablet services too. They automatically start if you install a Wacom driver on these Os'es, and they can also cause hiccups and lag in Photoshop CS4.
You have to be logged in with admin privleges.
    Go to Control Panel->System and Security->Administrative Tools->Services
    Open 'Tablet PC Input Service'
Stop the service and select 'Disabled' as the startup type.
You'll know you got it because the annoying 'ripple' effect will go away when you touch the pen to the tablet, and the pop-up keyboard will go away. Of course, if you actually are running on a tablet PC then don't do this.

  • Crop and brush tools jittery with Wacom tablet

Immediately upon installing LR CC 2015 many of my functions using a Wacom Intuous 4 tablet have become jittery and slow. The crop frame wants to jerk around and keeps rotating with no input from me. It is difficult to cancel using Esc key. Slow and jittery also describes various brush operations, including Heal/Clone.
Am using the Yosemite Beta, but was also doing so with LR 5 (2014) and did not have any of these problems.

I'm having a similar issue on a Windows 8.1 machine, also using an Intuos 4, and a Bamboo Pen on our other machine. Not only are the tools jittery, but the pen will only "grab" sliders in the develop module about 20% of the time. This makes editing with a tablet near impossible. Any ideas what might cause this?

  • Mac OS 10.4.3 freezing/locking up with Wacom tablet and driver

Hey guys, I have recently purchased the Wacom Intuos3 6x11 tablet and now my PowerBook freezes after like 10 minutes to 2 hours I plug it in. So far I have tried removing and installing different drivers. I have also have reinstalled my system (erase and install, custom no printer drivers and foreign languages) I have run permissions repair, disk repair, Extended Apple Hardware Test, and I have also rest the PRAM - I'm running out options. I don't have any other drivers installed yet, only some apps like Adobe CS2, Alias SketchBookPro 2, Painter 9. The system runs fine without the driver but it makes the tablet useless. Also the tablet runs w/o any issues on my Windows machine (XP pro).
Oh, I have also re-calibrated my tablet and still nothing.
The lock-ups happen no matter in what application I am in or what I'm doing.
    Any ideas?
Also, Wacom tech guys have no idea what to do with this one.

I've been running with that tablet since October with no problems on my G4 800 Dual, except for an annoying scrolling problem in Safari. You might try launching Console and leave it in the background and see if any messages show up when the problem occurs. You might also check the system.log in Console and see if you spot anything in there, though that is harder to sort out. Also in Console take a look in ~/Library/Logs CrashReporter section and see if there are any crash logs involving the tablet. You might also run the hardware test disk to see if it spots anything wrong. It could be a problem with the USB plug.

When using the brush tool with an Intuos 5 tablet (mostly to edit layer masks), PS will become unresponsive to pen input - that is, I can't draw. The cursor moves, and I can switch tools with the keyboard, but pressing with the pen to tablet does not register. If I click with the mouse, it will register. If I use the spacebar to get the grabber hand then click and drag, the pen will again become responsive. If I click on a palette with the pen, I can draw again.
I have been in touch with Wacom, and at their suggestion, I have:
    1. Downgraded the driver to the previous version.
    2. Reinstalled the driver.
    3. Connected the tablet directly to the computer rather than using a hub or wireless kit
This problem also occurred on my previous computer (mac pro 8x2.8ghz, os 10.8)
When using the same tablet with my laptop, the problem does not occur, nor does it occur when using a Bamboo tablet on the Mac Pro.
I don't see the problem occurring with other tools, but I don't use them as frequently.
One other thing I should mention is that I'm working on very large files (2-6G) but do have 64G of memory installed.
    Currently using:
    Mac Pro 8x2.93ghz
    Mac OS 10.9.1
    PS 13.0.6
I've been back and forth with Wacom via email for about a mothh, and I suspect they are out of troubleshooting options. They suggest the problem is with PS, but I'm not really sure.

    Hi CoGordo4,
Make certain you have "New Art Has Basic Appearance" checked in the Appearance Panel menu.
Also realize that the "Basic" brush, isn't really a brush at all. It simply removes all brush appearances from a stroke.

  • Scrolling through pictures with Wacom tablet in Aperture

    HI Guys,
Is anyone a bit of a whizz on Aperture. I'm using Aperture 3 with a Wacom tablet on a Mac Pro.
I'm set the touch wheel to scroll as I want to use it to cycle through photos. It works in the Browser View (all pics on the screen), but does nothing when I try to scroll in Split View. I have to use 2 fingers on the Magic Trackpad to get it to scroll along.
Has anyone had this issue, or does anyone know how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    P x

You're welcome.  Here's some more.  Should give you some ideas .
... and so on.  The radial menu is fast once you get used to it.  And, imho, quite clever:  I'd _much_ rather have context-sensitive radial menus than the silly stacked text menu we have now.
I highly recommend watching (and taking notes) from all 14 of the videos done by Rebekka Strauß.  [Edit: number of videos corrected.]

  • Bluetooth lag with Logitech Tablet keyboard

    Hi there,
just got the Xperia Tablet S 64 GB and am running Android 4.1.1.
I'm trying to use the Logitech Tablet keyboard with the tablet but the lag between typing letters and having the letters appear is unbearable. That is, if I touch type a sentence, I have to wait several seconds for the tablet to slowly print it out on the screen letter by letter, much slower than I typed.
I'm sure the problem is not the keyboard because it works fine on another device.
Does the Xperia just have a slow bluetooth version or is there something I can do?
    Thanks for any help.

Could you try disable wifi and then check if it still lagging ?
Might be bluetooth wifi interfearance thats still little bit bugged.
If reported this with bluetooth headset using 2.4g kills bluetooth headset, while on 5G headset kills 5G wifi.
This looks fixed so far, tough wifi speed is slower for example when their also bluetooth activity
That might be reason its also lagging because its not optimised properly yet.

  • Problem with Wacom Tablet in Photoshop

    Hello.
I'm currently using Adobe Photoshop CS3 on Windows XP with an Wacom Intuos 3 tablet.
The problem I'm having is that when I use the tablet pen to click anywhere in
Photoshop, the cursor essentially locks in place and does not move. On the canvas, this means I can only place dots. This happens whether I'm clicking on tools, scrollbars, etc...
I used to be able to use it fine in CS2, but then it stopped working on day, and I thought that maybe upgrading would solve the issue. However, this has just left me with the same issue.
The pen does work normally in all other programs, such as in MS Paint or when clicking and dragging to select icons on the desktop. Also, clicking and dragging with a mouse works normally.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks so much in advance.

Thanks Hunt, I'll give that a shot and see.
I'm not quite sure what you mean, Martha. It used to function in Photoshop perfectly fine, but no longer works.
I have added Photoshop to the Wacom prefences manager that changes pen pressure and things, but I have a feeling you're referring to something else.

  • LR3 Beta 2 problems with Wacom tablet on Win 7

    Hi,
    I'm new to this forum
Just wondering if someone could help me out, or have heard of this happening,
I'm trying out LR3 Beta, I use Wacom Intuos 2 with Win7 64-bit and latest Wacom drivers.
I set my stylus thumbclick as right-click.
When starting LR3, I lose this function everywhere, in Windows etc. And my thumbclick now behaves like a mouse click, close down LR3 and its all back to normal. It seels LR3 is "taking over" my WAcom behaviour?
LR2 is okay though. None of these effects.
    Regards,
    Andy

    Thanks Gene,
The problem isn't that specific to LR. When I start LR3, it messes up
    the behaviour for other applications.
So lets say I have Firefox, Quickbooks, Total Commander running, all
behaving normally. I start LR3, and then it messes up the button
assignments for all the applications that were previously running as
well. And when I close LR3, the behaviour under the other applications
    go back to normal.
Also under LR3 when I hover the stylus and move across a "pane
boundary", the cursor/pointer changes from a pointer to a "left-right
arrow (resize) icon" and then back again, but it freezes for half a
second and then jumps back to where it should be.
I have Windows TabletPC turned off by all methods I know of, in the
group policy settings (I think its called), registry, etc. It seems to
re-enable itself when LR3 is started I think, perhaps.
Anyway, I've gone back to LR2.x now, and the latest Camera RAW works
okay if I want to try out the new processing engine.
But just curious if other people are experiencing this.
    I'm using Windows 7, 64-bit with 8GB RAM.

  • Is it possible to edit a path made with wacom tablet?

i have a path (made with pressure using the paint brush) that has segments that do not handle a calligraphic style well.
    1. Can i somehow edit the path thickness of those segments? cut segments and redraw?
i believe the line thickness is screwing up the calligraphic style. It could be a combination of the path thickness in conjunction with the calligraphic style as well.
    2. anyway to rotate a path style around the path to see if it looks better repositioned?
    TIA

    >1. Can i somehow edit the path thickness of those segments? cut segments and redraw?
Once a pressure-sensitive stroke has been create you cannot change the relative thin/thick quality of the stroke. You CAN cut the stroke or add points to the stroke with the regular pen tool, or drag over a selected stroke with the brush tool to reshape it. To simplify the stroke with the brush tool, hold down "Option" as you trace the line with the brush tool.
You can also cut the path using the scissors tool, then delete the portion you don't want. This method leaves the stroke width unchanged at the cut points. If you want the ends to appear more natural, add a point then delete just the point. The remaining two line segments will maintain a more natural thin/thick appearance. Don't bother using the eraser tool (CS3) on pressure sensitive strokes, as the pressure effect is lost.
    >believe the line thickness is screwing up the calligraphic style. It could be a combination of the path thickness in conjunction with the calligraphic style as well.
Changing the stroke width of a brush stroke is one way to affect it's overall width. It also rounds the ends of the stroke, which may not be preferable. The other way to change the width is to change the setting of the brush itself, using the brush panel.
    >2. anyway to rotate a path style around the path to see if it looks better repositioned?
Not sure what you mean. You can rotate the object the brush is using by editing the brush setting (double click the brush icon in the brush panel).

  • Why is Photoshop CC 2014 nearly crash with Wacom and fix itself when I move my regular mouse?

I have Photoshop CC 2014 (completely updated through Creative Cloud). I am currently using a Wacom Intuos 3 9"X12" with the Intuos drivers all updated. Everything is updated. I am working on Windows 8, on a computer with 8 GB's of RAM. I have never had this problem before using Photoshop until just recently. Before I updated Photoshop CC 2014, I was having trouble putting in text into my files. I would go to edit or add text, and it would say that the text function was unavailable. I was pretty ticked, since I'm in school full time for animation and NEED Photoshop to work as fast as possible and this was making things harder. So, I updated. The text thing got fixed, but for some reason, whenever I use my wacom tablet to draw, it will work for a little bit (like two minutes) before it pretty much freezes my computer. It gets laggy and doesn't show anything on screen. I have waited almost two minutes before. But, whenever I move my REGULAR mouse (trackpad or USB mouse) it catches up with what just happened (including going from layer to layer if I clicked on those to get things moving). It makes it REALLY hard to work with this, and it's increased my worktime by at LEAST 45%, since I have to constantly fix this with a move of my regular mouse. During that time, I cannot click on anything with my wacom pen or use the hotkeys on the keyboard (the default ones).
It, so far, doesn't seem that Photoshop CC has it, but I cannot update to that version. I always get to 75% or something REALLY fast, and then it says there was an error. I just don't know what's going ON with my programs. Do I have to uninstall and reinstall or something? My computer is set to optimize weekly, and I've done multiple scans to make sure I don't have a virus or something. Everything in clean, and I'm not overloaded on stuff, either. I usually only have two or three programs total open, Photoshop CC 2014 included. It ends up either being Photoshop and Firefox or Photoshop, Firefox, and iTunes to listen to music. I use a second monitor, as well, to make my flow go faster.
Help ASAP would be VERY much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

  • Wacom Tablet Issues with LR 5.6

Ever since I upgrade to LR 5.6, I'm having problems with my wacom tablet (intuos 5 wireless small).  When I use the TAT, as I move up and down the slider moves a couple of numbers and them stops.  If I use my blue tooth mouse, it works just fine.  Also, if I go up to the Histogram and click and drag, nothing at all happens using the tablet, but works just fine with blue tooth mouse.  There are a lot of other issues with rendering and unstable pen action.  I have no issues with the tablet in Photoshop CC - 2014 ACR or any other programs.  It's definitely tied to LR 5.6.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.  Oh, I have uninstalled and re-installed and have the same problem.
    Dennis

I downloaded the driver at Wacom Europe GmbH - Support - Treiber  ran it without the tablet being connected, than plugged in the Intous again. Immediately a new USB-recognition/installation process started (but all customizations were preserved).
That was all. I am not a nerd, just a normal user, so nothing special to report. It just worked out fine.

  • Wacom tablet brush features lagging and non-responsive

I am a photographer and rely heavily on my Wacom tablet to edit my images in Photoshop. The latest CS6 update and CC update disables any tool that uses the brush feature. If I work with a tool for example the quick selection tool, before I can use any keyboard shortcuts or hot keys I have to click anywhere else in my workspace, then my keyboard will work. I cannot increase the selection size of the tool, cannot adjust hue or saturation,  and cannot choose another tool using the keyboard shortcuts.
THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM for me at the moment. My editing time has nearly TRIPLED because of the additional steps I have to take.
I contacted Wacom support and they told me to contact Adobe. All of the Adobe forums said to contact Wacom. I am now stuck in an endless battle of neither company wanting to take responsibility.
The most recent Wacom drive supports Mac 10.8x-10.10x so Wacom does not believe that their driver is the cause of the malfunction. When I use my Apple mouse I do not have any of these issues in Photoshop. Yes, the simple answer is to stop using my Wacom and just use my mouse but that is not a plausible argument for a left-handed person.
I am also frustrated that I could not contact support via email that I had to start a discussion. Hoping someone from Adobe will respond or even see this. Clearly there is an error with the Adobe software.

Ok the problem seems to be fixed for me. Here what I did:
Before, I was running Yosemite 10.10 on an iMac i7
I had the latest driver from Wacom (I tried a couple of older drivers, to no avail)
I'm running PS CS6, with all update
I'm using a Wacom Intuos 5 medium tablet
I was getting super bad lag while using the brush and other tools. Let's say I'd open an image to edit. After selecting the keyboard shortcut for my brush, I'd make one pass with the brush on the image. The brush stroke would be there, but it wouldn't show up in the history palette. Only after making another brush stroke would the previous action be recorded in the history palette. I was lagging real bad. In between brush strokes I wouldn't be able to change tools or even change the size of my brush. Nothing worked. I'd have to click off the image to regain control, or click the trackpad to regain control. BTW, the trackpad worked perfectly. NO lag for anything in PS. The polygonal lasso tool, one of my favorite selection tools, was basically unusable with the lag. I'd have to click several times before it would catch up and then sometime it would just randomly close the selection. So that was useless.
Ok, so that's what was happening to me. My tablet was basically useless. It took triple the time to work with it.
All I did was update Yosemite to 10.10.1 and the tablet now works PERFECTLY in photoshop cs6 for me. I'm not sure you'll get the same results but it worked for my computer. I really didn't think it would work so I was pleasantly surprised when it did.
I had tried installing older wacom drivers. Didn't work.
I tried reinstalling PS CS6 in a new user profile on my Mac. Didn't work.

  • With Parental Controls on, Wacom Tablet pressure sensativity will not work.

I run several high-end Mac Art and Photo-based labs and have run into an issue with Leopard's Parental Controls and Wacom Tablets - when I choose to limit the programs that my users (students) can use, Wacom Tablets will lose functionality under those logins - and it seems only to be pressure-sensitive functions. I've tried several combinations of allowing all programs except utilities, with utilities, etc - no dice - I actually have to turn off "limit programs" and that is the only point that it'll actually let me use all the Wacom's functionality under those managed users - is there a way to fix this?

..."I've allowed all Utilities, Applications, etc and no matter what, as soon as I turn on the "only allowed selected programs" option, it won't work."...
I'm not sure, but it is possible that allowing / disallowing based on the pre-defined categories may not work because the software that Wacom uses on my system is in an atypical location, and has an atypical structure - it actually has one application contained inside another. It may be necessary to approve the apps explicitly.
    Perhaps try either:
    i) Opening "/Library" > "Application Support" > "Tablet" and explicitly dragging any apps present there into the "Parental Controls" pref pane in the panel where the programmes are listed. On my system, the app is called "PenTabletDriver.app"...
    or
ii) Logging in to the managed account (with application restrictions in place), and trying to launch the "PenTabletDriver.app" programme. If this generates the "application is not allowed" message, it should be possible to "always allow" with "admin" authentication to white-list it at that stage...
