PS cc leaves a "Progress" dialog hanging

Running PS cc up to date (current) on windows 7 64 bit (current)
The new PS cc seems to leave a blank progress dialog box open and maybe orphaned or something in this scenario:
Doing Focus Stacking, with 6 images on layers and after running:
Edit/ auto align layers
--- followed by
Edit/ auto blend layers
The dialog box shown in the attached image lingers seemingly until I close it.
I allowed it to linger for over 1/2 hr.

  • JFilehooser dialog hangs up.

    Hi all;
    In my program the user uses a JFileChooser dialog to select a file.
    after this a ProgressMonitor popup to reflect progress of File importing.
    The problem is that the JFileChooser dialog hangs for a moment before it closes and the progressBar shows up. the two windows get somewhat mixed for a while.
    Is there a way to ensure the JFileChooser dialog gets closed and hidden before the popup progrssbar shows up?
    thanks.

    Display the progress bar in a
    SwingUtilities.invokeLater(...);I tried this method but without success !
    The filechooser frame hangs up for a while before the progressBar starts it's thread.
    I'm guessing this is because launching progressBar involves starting many threads(i have at least 3).
    could this be the reason ?
    any Ideas to overcome this problem?
    thanks.

  • Suppressing progress dialog when importing Tagged Text?

    Howdy:
    I'm using the Adobe Tagged Text import provider to place text in a document. I'm making the call to iImportProvider->ImportThis() with the kSuppressUI flag set. Even though the flag is set, InDesign is still displaying the progress dialog. Does anybody know how to keep that from happening? I don't see anything in the documentation about this.
    Thanks,
    Noel Williams

    Hello:
    I have the same problem that Noel.
    I'm using:
    * prov->ImportThis(database, stream, kSuppressUI, &contentUIDRef);
    * prov->ImportThis(database, stream, K2::kSuppressUI, &contentUIDRef);
    * prov->ImportThis(database, stream, (K2::UIFlags)0, &contentUIDRef);
    But the progress Dialog appears.
    This problem is critical for me.

  • Open file dialog hangs

    I have some raw video files dumped from a Sony HD camera. The files are in some MPEG format (VLC just reports mpegv, mpega), the resolution is 1440x1088, and they are about 10 GB for 1 hour of video. My Quicktime wont play the video, but VLC plays it fine.
    When I try to "Import video from file..." in iMovie '08, and navigate to the folder where the files are, the open file dialog hangs and iMovie beachballs - so far I have only had patience for 30 min, then a Force Quit is the only option.
    Edit: OK, so it took 45 min then I could interact. The .mpeg is greyed out and as soon as I touch anything, iMovie beachballs again.
    Any idea of the reason for this and how to circumvent it? Is iMovie trying to extract info from the files beforehand? Is it due to the file size (10 GB)?
    Presently, I am trying to transcode the files using VLC, but I am having some trouble finding the best settings so not to loose too much quality, get rid of the interlace, etc. Any pointers on how to optimize setting for processing afterwards in iMovie HD and/or '08 are appreciated.

    I don't understand how iMovie works with those thumbnails.
    I imported some DV footage from an old iMovie HD, 2 clips. The files generated by iMovie'08 looks like this:
    clip1.dv is 768x567 and is 118 MB on disk (although Quicktime reports 238 MB) and clip2.dv is 768x567 and 53 MB on disk. iMovie'08 creates a folder iMovie Cache with a file Cache.mov, 720x576, 12 kB on disk. In the folder iMovie Thumbnails is the file clip01.mov, 160x90, 10 MB on disk and clip02.mov, 160x90, 4.5 MB on disk. In the subfolder iMovie Cache is the file Cache.mov, 160x90, 16 kB.
    Now, the HD footage I had to process differently. In order to get it into iMovie'08, I used VisualHub to convert the 1 hour video at 1440x1088, 10 GB on disk, file HD.mpeg to AppleTV format (720p) as HD.mp4, now 1280x720, 1.5 GB. I import this in iMovie, goes fine, takes a minute or so. Then iMovie starts creating its thumbnails. It took 4 hours 9 minutes!
    The clip is in there as one 1 hour clip. The file structure is as follows: HD.mp4 is 1280x720, 1.5 GB on disk. In the folder iMovie Cache is cache.mov, 1280x720, 2.1 MB. In the folder iMovie Thumbnails is HD.mov, 160x90, 980 MB on disk - ie. two-thirds the size of the original file, in 1/64 the resolution! In the subfolder iMovie Cache is cache.mov, 160x90, 590 kB.
    Skimming is hardly possible on the HD clip, especially moving the cursor backwards, and it is hard to trim selections. It plays fine, though. For the DV clips skimming it works fine.
    Any ideas what is going on here, and how to work around? Is the inefficiency due to the very large clip? I tried to trim of a 2 min clip from the original file and put it through the same conversion, but the result was more or less the same, skimming-wise - very inefficient.

  • Print Progress Dialog box always stays on top

    Since upgrading to InDesign CC I have noticed that all print progress dialog boxes stay on top of all windows, even after switching apps. I find this highly annoying and want it to go away. Is there a preference I can change to make it NOT be on top, especially when I've switched to a different application?

    (I am OP, having account issues)
    Trashing preferences wouldn't help if it is a default behavior, which I think this is since it's been happening since the beginning with CC. I was wondering if this was a behavior that I can change with a preference or if I'm just stuck with it.

  • Aperture 3.1: Import dialog hangs

    I discovered the folloing problem: When opening the import dialog and browsing through different directories with raw files, at some point the whole dialog hangs with the "spinning wheel" and "Loading media".
    When this occurs, i can continue browsing through directories, but aperture doesn't display the contents.
    This is reproducable on a Mac Pro and a MacBook Pro. On both systems also with fresh clean install of 10.6.4 and Aperture 3.1 only.
    There are also some messages in the system log when this occurs:
    Oct 24 12:24:31 MacPro Aperture[313]: Thread Main Thread Exception NSMutableRLEArray objectAtIndex:effectiveRange:: Out of bounds Caught while posting: MSG --- CAT: Internal Local Object(0xEFF); TASK: (null)(0x1); PRI: 3; REPLY: 0; SYNCH: 0; THREAD: <XTThread:0x1236c0d60 'Album Assets' state: Waiting, handlers:\n <XTObject: 0x1236b4730 (0)>>; DEST: (null)

    Someone else discovering such problems?
    BR,
    Mark.

    Found the problem: The "hang" of the import dialog occurs if there is only ONE file in the directory!!!
    I.e.: If i have a subdirectory for example 20101002 an there is exactly one raw file in it (no matter from which camera), the trouble begins. I can't cancle dialog, i can't navigate to other subdirectories, i only can quit Aperture.
    If I put a second RAW file in this diretory, than there are no prblems at all. Aperture woks as desinged.
    Can anyone try to reproduce this bug on his system?
    I think thats a simple error in coding the import dialog ant it's connected to the bug when the last image stays selected when you press "Deselect all".
    As in the latter case, if there are more than one image in the directory and i only select one and then try to cancle the import dialog, it also hangs.
    So there seems to be a problem if there is only one file or only one selected file in the directory!

  • Please, help with simple modal progress dialog

    Progress dialog will create a reader thread and block user input to main form until read is completed. It will have only a number of bytes received text message and one cancel button. It will be closed when user presses the button or thread is done with reading.
    I understand the principles of IO and thread communication very well. I'm asking for modal dialog candidate. Should I override JDialog or it is possible to use JOptionPane or something else? The modal dialog should be able to register some listener to get progress messages from the reader thread.

    JOptionPane should be really easy way to go, since you can pass in an Object, and that object
    could be a JPanel containing your JProgressBar and any other components/layout you want.

    Apple every day is looking more alike Microsoft leaving the loyal costumers hanging by not updating EFI so 2006 inte macpro can run mountain Lion

    Greetings,
    The EFI is not why a 2006 MACPro cannot run ML, the thing is almost an antique, when you consider how fast things move in the tech world.
    No one says that you have to update to ML - I still have a G4 running plain old Leopard, and it works for me for what I need it for. I have several Macs (7) of all ages, and only three of them can run ML, but only two of them ever will, until I buy a new one.
    If ML is that important to you, then it's time to upgrade - normal upgrade paths for over 90% of us is three, to four years, max, to keep up with the latest and greatest. Its Ok to keep th eolder machines for th eusual run of the mill activities, like email, surfing the web, playing music, the odd video, etc.
    Cheers,
    M.

    "none" - (suggest) no progress dialogsThe 'progress' attribute is not something in the
    web start API, but I would like to see it added.
    The intent is to allow the JNLP file to suggest a
    behaviour for progress dialogs during the download
    of both eager and lazy resources.
    Currently (web start in 1.5), there is no progress
    dialog, or message of any kind, during the download
    of 'lazy' resources.
    My questions.
    Is it technically feasible to provide this ability?
    Does it conform to the web start ..framework?
    Would an RFE to add support for this 'progress'
    attribute (call it what you like) be well received
    (or disappear into the abyss as some other
    requests assigned an ..'internal review ID'
    sometimes seem to)?
    More generally to other forum members, is
    this something that is important to you?
    Would you vote for an RFE to support the
    progress dialog attribute?

    ScheduleWorld used to use around 40 jars and I noticed a big speedup when I started using the version protocol. Now, my httpd logs only report a HTTP HEAD request on the jnlp file (sometimes icon image too?) and the app starts quite fast. I use less jars now but I am sure the main thing is the switch to the version protocol.
    With the version protocol, the client can determine if it has all of the right versions without making network connections. If you have a slow network connection (like a modem) and/or your server has keepalive disabled and is rate-limited to the number of new connections/second to the same IP you could see exactly what you are describing.

  • Commands cause Fireworks 8 to freeze (with Batch Progress dialog)

    I've been having consistent trouble with Commands in Fireworks 8 (on Mac OS 10.4) causing the application to freeze. Has anyone else experienced this?
    Here's the scenario: I use custom keyboard shortcuts to trigger commands such as ‘Blend Mode - Forward’ or ‘Increase Brush Size’ in order to speed up my workflow. After executing several of these commands, I'll be doing something simple like using the Selection Tool or adjusting layer opacity, and the application will freeze. A Batch Progress dialog appears ("0 of 0 files processed. Batch conversion  complete."), but it is unresponsive. The only option is to Force Quit the application and to lose any unsaved changes.
    This happens quite frequently. It is not a problem with any particular command; it happens with _all_ commands.
    In trying to fix this bug, I discovered something interesting: Every time a command is executed in Fireworks 8, it generates an empty FireworksBatchLog.txt file within my User/Library/Application Support folder (the same folder where custom Keyboard Shortcuts and Library Symbols are stored). Normally, a Batch Log is written upon completion of a successful Batch Process, and it includes useful information about what files were processed and how. In this case, however, the Batch Log text file is empty.
    Now, this Batch Log might just be a symptom of the glitch, as opposed to the source itself, but it clearly connects with the Batch Progress dialog that appears once the application freezes. Apparently, when commands are executed rapidly via keyboard shortcuts, this empty Batch Log gets rewritten every single time, and a relatively innocuous problem compounds itself and causes the freeze.
    I reinstalled the software, but the bug persists. I've also filed a bug report with Adobe—but would they even consider _looking_ at a bug if the sofware version is this old? It seems odd that Fireworks 8 is the only version never to have received an update. And yet this bug seems very matter of fact. I'm quite surprised that I can't find any other references to it online...
    If anyone knows of a fix for this, or can replicate the bug in their version of Fireworks, please let me know.

  • Displaying a custom progress dialog

    I have a Java app in which I want to display a custom non-modal progress dialog, but I cannot get it to display until all the work in the main thread is complete.
    Basically, I want the following:
    - User presses a button
    - Progress dialog is displayed
    - Work is performed
    - Progress dialog is hidden
    - Msg is displayed to the user
    Right now, the progress dialog is shown but not fully painted until all the work is performed.
    How can I get the dialog to display and be updated as the work progresses?
    Note: I cannot use ProgressMonitor because it has a 'Cancel' button. The user is not allowed to cancel my long running task.
    THANK YOU!

    If you are doing a long task in the event thread then other events, such as redraws, will wait 'till the long task is completed.
    Creating a thread is no big deal ...
    Runnable job = new Runnable() {
      public void run() {
        doLongTask();
    Thread t = new Thread(job);
    t.start()Controlling thread interactions via wait() and notify() can get interesting, but Java doesn't make it needlessly complex.

  • ADM dialog hangs but on debugging it works fine. Can't spot the problem

    Hello,
    I have developed an automate plugin which submits a design on a server using libcurl library. There is a dialog(made using ADM) to submit a design which consists of a submit button and a progress bar. On clicking the submit button, the progress bar starts getting updated. When the progress bar is completely updated the dialog seems to hang. The dialog is supposed to close after submit. The obvious way to search for the problem was to debug the source code, but it appears that whenever the source code is debugged then it runs smoothly. But without any debug points the problem reverts. How can we spot the problem without debugging?
    Please guide.

    In developing plug-ins over the past years I have encountered a few cases where the presence of the debugger seemed to work around a problem.  The debugger necessarily changes the timing and resource allocations some.
    In every case the problem turned out to be a legitmate bug - a mistake we had made in our code, and in some cases finding that bug required other measures beyond using the debugger to help us track it down.  We ended up implementing a very sophisticated logging facility that we use in all our products now.  It appends lines of text containing pertinent info into a log file that's created for each run.  The detailed logging commands compile-out in a Release build, so we just leave them in the source code all the time and they add no overhead.
    Unfortunately, there's no easy answer for your dilemma, other than to advise you to implement your own logging facility - or at least the ability to add printf statements (or similar) into your code so you can trace the progress in sticky situations.
    Though I saw your message and am a plug-in developer myself, you might find you can get more direct help in the SDK forum...

    Good luck!
