PS CC won't save a custom workspace.

PS CC won't save a custom workspace. Nothing happens. In addition, I get a "Can't apply workspace because of a system error" when i try to view the What's New workspace. Just downloaded the CC today. Mac 10.7.5, 3.4 GHz processor, 16GB RAM. Thanks for any help!

I have the same problem, each time I open Photoshop CC my workspace from last time is not saved.
Very annoying beacuse I have to reload my swatches etc.

  • Can't save any custom workspaces AE CS6? (recently upgraded to OSX 10.9 rMBP)

    Hello -
since transferring my CS6 across to my new laptop running 10.9 -
I can't save any custom workspaces... it's driving me crazy having to move everything around every time i restart AE.
    - I arrange the workspace and save it as a custom name - this appears in the menu.
*However* - upon restart of AE - this custom name is no longer there, and the workspace is once again, an old workspace I had, with windows everywhere.
    - I can reset STANDARD workspace - but even then - when I change to another workspace, then change back to STANDARD again, it reverts to the older, messsy version of standard workspace i had...
so there's some issue with saving for me....
    - I checked 'get info' to see that my workspace related preferences in the library folder had read/write access and even changed that to everyone has access...
After doing this, I got this error below, when resetting STANDARD workspace, saving project, then switching to another workspace - and then switchng back to STANDARD...
it still brought up the messy workspace version, not my newer reset version, and gave this message:
"After Effectswarning: Error parsing properties list from file ".......Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/11.0/ModifiedWorkspaces/UserWorkspace11.xml"
(I"ve also repaired permissions with Disk Utility ( there were a lot needing repair, but none were explicitly adobe, and didn't solve problem on laptop reboot )
I've been trying to find a solution online, without success so far...
    Any advice greatly appreciated...
(And I wonder what this problem might have wider ramifications for my version of AE? )
    thanks!

I'm having this same problem and yet, I did not migrate my software from one computer to another.
I downloaded AE CC 2014 off of Adobe's installer.
I can't get my workspace to be remembered at all. I can make different workspaces, naming each one. But when AE restarts they are all gone.
Any one else with this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How can I save a Custom Workspace in Illustrator CC?

I believe I've found a major bug in Illustrator CC ...or to put it more aptly...what appears to be an omission. The help topic path that tells how to save a custom workspace in previous versions does not exist in Illustrator CC. Has this option been reconfigured or simply forgotten? Please enlighten me if you have the answer. I'm using a Trial Version.

You can easily find the location of the new document profiles. When setting up a new document, go to the menu of profiles, then select "Brwose". THis takes you directly to the folder.
Use your operating system's tools to display that folder in the Windows Navigator.

  • How can I save a custom workspace?

Using PSE 11, I get the panels set up the way I want, and the background that shows behind the document white like I want, and all is well. Until the comptuer loses it and I have to redo it all over. I have no idea why this happens once in a while, but it's a big pain. How can I get it to save my choices for these things? It also lost all my preferences that I set.

When I search help for this command, this is what it says:
"Go to Edit > Preferences (Mac: Photoshop Elements > Preferences > General), click the Reset Preferences on next launch button, and then click OK. When you restart Adobe Photoshop Elements, all preferences are reset to default settings."
I don't want to go back to default settings, I want it to save mine so I don't randomly lose them. I'm confused!
FYI, this used to happen to me once in a while on PSE5 on our old winXP computer, also. Is it something to do with updates? It's not every time the computer gets restarted, just random as far as I know. I'm using Win8 now if that matters.

  • GB won't save my customized instruments

I have modified several instruments in GB for performance useage. When I save the project all of my changes are saved, but I would like to save these instruments so that they can be used in other projects without having to recreate them from scratch. I am using GB '11 on a 15" unibody powerbook running OS 10.6.8. The erroro message I get is: Failed saving the file. "/Users/me/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Track Setings/Software/Organs/BTS organ.cst".
Thx in advance ... I hope

That is hard to say what might be causing this.
Are you trying to save the instrument using the 2save Instrument" button in the lower right corner of the "Edit" panel in the Track Info panel?
And did you pick a new name in the "Save Instrument" dialog?
Check, if the folder exists and is writable, where GarageBAnd is trying to save the file. GarageBand will write the file to your private Instrument Library in your User Library in the Home Folder.
Open the folder "Library" in your "Home" folder, then open "Application "Support" > "GarageBand" and check, if GarageBand could create an "Instrument Library" folder and "Track Settings".
If these folders are not there, check the permissions on the enclosing folders.

  • Flash CS3 crashes when saving custom workspace

I have Flash CS3 on a Windows XP sp2 machine. Everytime I try
to save a custom workspace, Flash crashes. There is no error
messages, Flash freezes and becomes non-responsive. I have noticed
in the Task Manger that there seems to be 2 Flash windows open at
the time, but I never see the second instance.
I have seen other people who have issue with Flash crashing
with dual monitors - which I also have.
Does anyone know of a solution?
    Thanks!

I don't know of a solution, but what you describe is
*exactly* what happens to me (even down to the 2 instances of Flash
in the Task Manager). What video card are you using? I'm using an
    NVIDIA Quadro PCI-E series card.

  • How to load and save custom workspaces in PE7

I've written a little utility which allows PE7 users to load and save custom workspaces. It's attached to post #1 of this thread.
    System requirements
The utility has been tested with Windows XP Pro SP3 only. It might or might not run under Vista. It will only work with PE7 installations where the executable files are in the default places.
    Installation
When you have downloaded the utility (it's only 199KB) you can run it from any convenient place in your system - it doesn't need to be installed as such.
    Usage
It's pretty self-explanatory in use but here's the manual!
    Run the downloaded utility "PE7WS.exe".
A file selection dialog appears. Choose the workspace layout file you wish to use. "LastUsed.layout" is the last used workspace (that's all you will be offered the first time you run the program). If you press Cancel at this point, the program will exit and nothing will happen.
Once you have selected the workspace, click "Open" and Premiere Elements 7 will run, using the workspace layout you chose.
After you exit from Premiere Elements 7, a workspace layout file save dialog will appear. If you made changes to the workspace during your Premiere Elements 7 session, you can now give the revised workspace a name and save it.
Do not save the workspace in a different directory from that which the dialog offers!
If you have changed an existing custom workspace, and you want to update the version previously stored, just select the name and over-write the saved workspace layout with the new one.
If you don't want to save the workspace at all, just click "Cancel" - next time you run Premiere Elements, you can choose the "LastUsed.layout" workspace to use that last used unsaved workspace in any event.
If you use the PE7WS utility to run Premiere Elements 7, and then you use the menu option "Window > Restore Workspace", then exit, you can either cancel the workspace saving stage, (which will mean that "LastUsed.layout" will contain that default workspace), or you could give that default workspace a name like "PE7 Default" so you can start a future Premiere Elements 7 session with the default workspace, even though you last used a custom workspace.
If you run Premiere Elements 7 in the usual way without using PE7WS.exe, the workspace that appears will be the last used one.
    The usual disclaimer...
The utility should be entirely safe in use, but I can't accept responsibility for any loss or damage it might cause. However, the only file manipulation is does is to workspace files in the directory that Premiere Elements 7 uses purely for the purpose - the utility doesn't go anywhere near your precious project files.

I'm finding it very handy on my particular twin 22" monitor setup to sometimes use a one-screen layout and sometimes a two screen layout. I 'discovered' that having the timeline on the second monitor enables me to tweak edits there while having the playback full size after pressing the "full screen" button on the first monitor. Where the timeline would normally be I have the history, mixer, and other windows always open. As the second monitor is also used by another PC (the one I have the net and email etc on) using "Maxivista" monitor sharing software, I revert to single screen layout when doing stuff like exporting to DVD so I can see what is going on with the render while typing stuff like this.
    Selectable workspaces are dead handy!

  • New workspace won't save correctly in Bridge CS4

I have been trying to save a new workspace with just the preview panel showing.  When I use Windows>Workspace>New workspace, it saves to the name I give it, but the panels go back to the default (Essentials) configuration.
    Any ideas please?
    Thanks

Thanks - that almost worked.  It certainly let me change the configuration of the windows, but I can't get to hide the content window.  It insists on showing 3 thumbnials in width...

  • PS CC 2014: Custom Workspaces Not Saving Palette Positions

I generally have two Custom Workspaces: one for when I am working on a single monitor, and one when working with dual monitors. Unfortunately, when I create the second Custom Workspace, it saves the palette position to both of the workspaces. If I try to reset the first one, it saves that position to both. It kind of defeats the purpose of having them
    Details:
    Mac OS X 10.9.3
    Photoshop CC 2014 (20140508.r.58 x64)
    Everything is up to date.

    UPDATE:
Fixed a very similar issue by deleting manually the custom workspace from my "workspaces" preferences folder,  but leaving in "workspaces (modified). See if this works for you

I have tried two advice one is click on Remember password in option and that did not save the website password. I have tried disable Remember password as I can't find anywhere in option that clear history when closing the application. Even on website, I click on "Remember me" or "Remember password", either Firefox or the website won't save the password for next time in Firefox. I have version 29.0.1. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox with no success. Example of two websites I am having problem saving password for are Myspace and AOL. Can is there something I am missing to make this work? Thank you.

    * Clear the Cache
    Press the '''<Alt Key>''' to bring up the tool bar. Then;

To check the passwords you have listed, press '''Saved Passwords'''.
'''Warning'''. There are some web pages that do not allow browsers to record

(There’s a lot of good stuff here)
you can find several add-ons that can override this, and give you better
    control of your password information.
One last thing. In the event that the passwords information is lost, you
should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else
on your hard drive. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so.
If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can
    compress it using a password.

  • Address book won't save changes to note field

Like the header says. Address book won't save changes to note field. There's another thread with the same header:  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2591053?threadID=2591053  But it's archived so I had to post this new one.
If I made a change in any non-note field however, it would stay.
Note: the notes field can be edited with actually having to go into official "edit" mode. Does this make it more prone to corruption? Why would Apple make the notes field NOT need that extra step of protection. Do they think my notes aren't as important?  How would they know?
I fixed this one card with a bandaid solution by exporting it and reimporting it.  But I guess I need to do that with all 2,000 of my contacts now. It was mentioned on theother thread that somebody made an address book backup and then deleted every contact in the address book and imported them fresh from the backup and that worked.
The underlyilng issue is still not solved though. How could this happpen in the first place, and how do I know what other contacts haven't held lthe changes I thought I made?

    Hi,
    Using the Note field
You can add notes to any contact in Address Book. This makes it easy to keep track of details about a person in your address book.
Select the person in the Name column in Address Book, then click the Note field in the card.
The Note field can be edited at any time, even if the card is not in edit mode.
You could make a dedicated field that requires the edit button...
    Using custom labels
You can change the label that appears next to a piece of information on a contact's card. For example, you might want to change "work" to "support" next to a phone number.
Select the contact that you want to change.
Click the Edit button at the bottom of the window.
Click the label next to a field, then choose Custom from the pop-up menu.
Enter a new label for the field.
The new custom label appears on this contact's card only.
If you want to change a specific label on all cards in your Address Book, edit the card template. Choose Address Book > Preferences and click Template. The Template pane also allows you to add other types of fields on contact cards, such as a nickname, job title, birthday, anniversary, and URL. Use the Add Field menu.

  • Can you retrieve custom workspaces, menu settings, etc?

My department is getting new computers (Windows), which means we have to reinstall CS4 Design Premium. We have all set-up custom workspaces, custom keystrokes, menu preferences, etc. I'm pretty sure with Photoshop I can tell everyone how to save the brushes, actions, etc. files, but are there files that hold these other types of settings and where do they reside? We use Photoshop and InDesign almost exclusively.
Maybe I'm grasping at straws here, but I'm hoping...
    Thanks!

  • Save Libraries in Workspaces

Hi. There doesnt seem to be a way to save custom libraries in a workspace, or at least I cant find a way. At my company I need to work with a specific set of colors that i have made a custom swatch library for as well as a symbol library. I find it rather annoying that I need to open the custom palettes everytime instead of them opening when I select my custom workspace. I know it only takes a second to open a library but when I use them everyday, all day,  I just wish they would already pop open! Thanks everyone I appreciate your help in adavance.

There is a checkbox at the bottom of the panel fly-out menu called "Persistent."
    Try using that.

  • Why is the check box for remember passwords grayed out? It used to work now it won't save them.

Why is the check box for remember passwords grayed out? It used to work now it won't save them.

It could be because you have Firefox set to not remember any history. Did you do that intentionally? It is set in the Options dialog:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Privacy
Perhaps it would work if you choose "Use custom settings for history" and just turn off the specific things you want to turn off.
    Any luck?
