Ps, cropping problems

In photoshop, why is my cropping tool taking minutes to work? on a PC with window 7 ultimate.

A reset might be the way to go. It should put the Crop Tool to its' defaults.
Just select the Crop Tool, right click on its' icon in the top Options bar to access the Reset menu.

Multiple Cropping problems have been reported already and I have read tech support is looking at some of these problems -  hopefully they will fix the following
In crop the custom dimension will not exceed 5 changes (would like to be able to see it built out to 10 custom sizes) and it no longer overwrites the last dimension change. It defaults to 2×3/4×6
           NOT WORKING like LTRM 3

  • Page cropping problem in Acrobat XI

I have a title built in InDesign that I export in PDF for the printer. I discovered over successive runs that I needed to shift the y axis a tad and widen the gutter to get the best production results. Here is the routine for doing so in Acrobat Pro IX:
    in Acrobat
Document /Crop Pages / Change Page Size / Custom: width 6 in; height 9 in. [ set for each operation ]
Adjust y-axis (height) of text block
    Y offset: - 0.15 (check shift visually)
    Page range = all
apply to: odd and even pages
    Adjust recto x-axis placement
    X offset: + 0.13  (check shift visually)
    Page range = all
    apply to: odd pages only
    Adjust verso x-axis placement
    X offset: - 0.13  (check shift visually)
    Page range = all
    apply to: even pages only
I had to produce an new PDF body file for the first time since switching to CC (Acrobat XI), and when I finally found the page cropping dialogue, the above routine blew up the book completely. There wasn't a single character visible in 300+ pages. I take it that Acrobat XI has different ideas about cropping pages, but I couldn't see where the problem lies. The dialogue boxes look the same. The commands are the same. Only the results are different. ??
    Any help much appreciated.

This usually means the file is corrupt, probably because it was not created
using a standard application like Adobe Acrobat.

  • Hi can anyone help,  Crop problems in Lightroom

Whenever I work on a raw file in Lightroom 5 then open in CS5 for final tweaks the crops I made in Lightroom are not carried over into photoshop
although all other corrections are. Am I doing something wrong! I work on a Mac and all software is up to date

    Rafael Aviles wrote:
Jim, when opening a raw file from LR into PS, there is no dialog offering the choice of "a Copy with LR adjustments". I believe those options are only for non-raw files.
I tried to replicate the OP's problem, but when I edit a raw file in PS after cropping and lens correcting (upright) in LR, the file opens fine in PS, with the crop and the upright showing up fine. I do have PS CC 2014, though, that's why I wondered if CS5 is capable of handling lens profile corrections. The OP stated that is just the Upright correction that does not carry over, not the crop.
The reason you don't see the dialogue offering the choice is because you are using CC, and everything between Photoshop and Lightroom is in sync. However, the OP is using Photoshop CS5 with Lightroom 5, and should be seeing that dialogue unless they have chosen the option not to ask again. Then Lightroom will simply make the choice that has been made. When Photoshop and Lightroom are not in sync that dialogue should display, even (maybe especially) for raw files. This response is sort of after-the-fact because it looks like the issue has been cleared up.

  • IMovie and photo cropping problems!!

    Hello!
I am making a slideshow for my Grandpa's memorial service, and have many photos where I have placed a title directly on the picture so that they are clear to people watching (year, people in it, etc.)
    Here's the problem:
iMovie crops every photo so that in many cases, the titles I placed on the pictures aren't visible!
BTW - the KB effect is turned off, and all photos were imported without the effect.
I have played around with placing the photos on different sized canvasses to see, when imported, which dimensions come the closest to fitting correctly on the iMovie screen. It seems like putting the photo on a 6.5"x4" canvas works best to deal with portraits (gets the whole top and bottom in, leaving black lines on the sides), but I'm wondering if anyone has more definitive information about what size photo can be imported without being cropped. I've got 200 pics to deal with, and if I'm going to resize all of the canvasses, I only want to do it once!!!
Thx in advance for your help!

    Hi, Ben
I didn't get your response until after I had played around with the pics some more.
Brilliant minds think alike, though, and I ended up doing basically what you did, using a 1920x1440 canvas (can't remember the inches, and no access to it on this computer).
Just for the record, even with the KB effect turned off, the settings were cropping the photos a little bit because of it (the default import setting for the KB effect was at 1.16, and even with the KB effect off, it was still affecting the photos). When I changed that setting to 1.0, it did make a difference, but putting the photos on a blank canvas and resaving them was really what worked!
Sorry everyone who replied - I tried to give you "helpfuls" and a "solved" for Ben, but my computer keeps giving me an error message!!!

  • Slideshow Image Crop Problem

Problem creating a slideshow in iDVD 6.0.
I added a white border to each of the image files that I wish to use in my slideshow. However, when I try to preview the slideshow, some of the images do not show the full border, very often cropping the bottom border completely. I've tried reducing the size of the images, but this doesn't solve the problem. I've also selected and deselected the "Always Scale Slides to TV Safe Area" but the problem remains. Very often, images with identical aspect ratios will show/not show the border correctly. Any input or solutions would be appreciated.
    Thanks...
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

To expect every photo to conform to a ratio of 4:3 would be unrealistic.
Sorry, but that is the way iDVD works!
'Standard' TV (and iDVD is designed to produce TV content) uses a 4:3 aspect ratio. (With iDVD 6, you may also create a 16:9 project.)

  • Cropping Problem: Image break-up

    Hi
So far, I am quite impressed with CS6--the more I use it the better it gets.  However, I am running into an ongoing issue with cropping.  It mainly occurs with stitched panoramas, and happens whether I use RAW, tiffs or jpegs.  Once the image is stitched and the layers merged, the crop tool is selected. As soon as any action is initiated, the image breaks up (see below).  As soon as I ok the action (by hitting the check box to crop) all is back to normal, but the break-up of the image makes it very difficult to crop accurately.  The problem never occurred with CS5.  Any ideas?  (Note: the image below was stitched from RAW images processed by LR4, saved as a tiff and then re-opened in CS6.)
    Stuart

Thanks. I couldn't really see what value the other information would have been!  I use programs, but that's it, and am a bit out of my depth here.  And it's been a long day ...
This should be what you want.

  • Picture crop problem in CS3

I have to admit that I am a newbie in CS3. Trying to crop a photo, but whenever I move the mouse over the picture, instead of the usual crop symbol, I have a hand. Can't figure out what has changed. I have never had this problem with Photoshop until now.
Any ideas on what's causing this and how I can fix it?

Thanks for your answer! I tried it and it's all right.

  • CS4 Photoshop cropping problem

Every time I try to crop an image, it automatically crops to .003" square.  Rebooted my computer and it still does this.  Tried the cropping in CS3 version and works fine.  Is there a glitch in CS4?  Thanks in advance for any help.

This solution also works when you have similar problems with shape layers.

  • I have encountered a cropping problem in cs4

After cropping a photo in cs4 i have tried hitting the return key as well as edit/crop and then my photo disappears and the image box reduces in size to about 1 inch square with no image. I have expanded the image box but nil photo. This has never happened before. I reloaded cs4 onto my computer but the problem still exists. I have also tried out opening the file from Bridge as well as Photoshop with the same result.

What I was wondering about was not the resolution of your document, but the value you may have entered in the Crop Tool's Resolution box in the Options Bar of the Crop Tool.
For instance, it's common for users to inadvertently end up with a resolution of 0, 1, or 10000 pixels per inch in that box, which would trigger exactly the consequences you are describing here.
    So, let me repeat:
    …but I'll make a wild guess:
You have some ungodly value in the resolution box in the Option bar of the Crop Tool.  Hit the "Clear" button in that same Options bar and try your crop again.

  • CS4 Cropping Problem

All of a sudden I've had a strange problem with the cropping tool in CS4(11).
The cropping outline doesn't seem to keep up with the cursor. The cropping outline ends up much smaller than what was attempted by the cursor.

    WTF?
Adobe...if it aint broke, don't fixit.
Looks like this will be my last upgrade. I just want a good photo processing app, and PS is getting way too complicated. Very good alternatives are becoming available insofar as RAW is concerned at a much more attractive price point.

  • Cropping Problem

Okay so I have my two clips, I have one's in the timeline and I drag the other over the canvas onto "superimpose". I go to the motion tab, open up the crop menu, drag the "left" slider to the right and nothing happens. What have I done wrong? I did have a problem with rendering but that seems to be sorted now...
    Many thanks,
    Will

You have both clips in the Timeline, correct? Make sure you have selected the clip you want to crop by double-clicking it. Then park the Timeline playhead in that clip. You should then be able to make adjustments on the Viewer's Motion tab and see the results in the Canvas.

  • Resolution and cropping problems

    Good Morning to all,
I am a babe in the woods with this video stuff. In past years used iMovie & iDVD with SD with no problems. Now we have a Canon HFS 10 ACVHD camera and no end of problems. Bought FCE 4 and Toast with Blu-Ray plug in and even took a 6 hour class on FCE.
Work in HD with a MacBook Pro and SD on a 2x3 Ghz Dual-Core Intel Xenon with 7 G RAM with a NVIDIA 7300 GT video card running on 10.4.11.
With HD, I get great results exporting from iMovie to iDVD EXCEPT that every frame in the entire sequence is cropped even though it is in 16:9. The ratio is OK as it is wide screen but it is cropping about 10-15%.
I have exported in several formats to FCE then go from there (also in various formats) to Toast with worse results. Resolution is horrible and when burned in the Blu-Ray plugin is not readable in a DVD player - Non Supported Format! When I go to the DVD portion of Toast, it is set up for TiVo 4:3 and cannot find a way to change out of that to something normal that will produce something equal in resolution to SD but in 16:9.
If I upgrade the OS in the 3Ghz machine will I also have to upgrade the video card to a NVIDIA 9300 or something else to work in HD? (saw that on another post someplace in the recent past).
    Thanks for reading,
    Wes

The OP indicated that my Macbook Pro was a 1.67. I have upgraded to a 2.96 with OSX 10.5.8

  • Static wallpaper cropping problem in 3.2.1

My K1 upgraded to 3.2.1 recently, and it worked very well in last few days, until I found the first problem.  When I change the static wallpaper, the wallpaper is cropped and shrinked instead of filling up the full screen.  Can't find any setting.  Anyone has a resolution?

I've tried just about everyone just to see how they looked.  No cropping here.  They all look normal.
    Thanks,

  • Wierd cropping problem with Photos

When I lay a photo into the timeline, the photo comes up with the edges cropped. After I render, the photo appears normally.  This makes animating the photos very difficult because I can't see the animation as it is supposed to be until after I render. Has anybody had a similar problem?  I can't figure this one out.

I hear what your saying.  It's not a user error thing, it's just very difficult for me to explain.  I've been editing a while in FCP and have never seen this.
My sequence is Apple prores 720p.  It is scaling the picture.  In this case it is scaling it down to 64%.  Because the picture is taller than it is wide, the image doesn't take up the width of the video frame, leaving black bars on the sides.  FCP isn't distorting, only cropping.  It only shows up when the image is unrendered, once I render the image it appears as it should.
The weirdest part is that it is only happening for this image on this sequence.  All other images on this sequence come in fine.  Also, this image on other sequences (Set up exactly the same way) comes in the way it should.
Like I said, this isn't a huge deal but I've never seen anything like this and was just wondering if anybody else has.
    Thanks for your reply!

  • Fuji X-Trans Sensor - Fuji X-E1 Chroma Smearing and Crop Problems with Lightroom 4.4RC

Like others, I found that Lightroom 4.3 caused chroma smearing on my Fuji X-E1 files.  I compared 90 shots I did today processed with Fuji SilkyPix RAW converted and LR 4.4RC.  It appeared to me that the chroma smearing problem is solved.  I did not see the chroma smearing, even at 3:1 zoom.  The .tiff files from SilkyPix and the .dng files from LR, appeared practically identical which was not the case with LR 4.3.
There was some discussion of purple fringing with the X-E1 and the Fuji 18-55 on this forum.  I did not see this in my backlit shots today.  I believe that the problem can be greatly reduced or eliminated by avoiding over exposure in the camera.  I have found when faced with very bright skies and darker foregrounds that I get better results by metering the sky, and then over exposing only 1 to 1-1/2 stops.  If I cannot do this, I get good results by properly exposing the subject.  If both the sky and the subject are over exposed, the fringing appears around the subject.
I was also happy to see that my files are no longer coming into Lightroom cropped.
It looks like I will be able to use Lightroom for my Fuji files with the 4.4RC.

The results of my experiments are different than what is being said, here, and different than I expected.
My DNG Conversion options are as listed, above, and did not include setting Custom with Linear as a conversion option, but merely setting ACR 6.6+ as the compatibility.  If there is some way to set Linear along with ACR 6.6 compatibility I’d like to know how.
My guess would be that either Adobe is making a linear DNG in this specialized case of X-Trans, to make things compatible with older ACRs that have no idea how to decode X-Trans--which is the promise of converting to DNG, OR Adobe is modifying the X-Trans data to have it be more like normal Bayer layout of still one-color-per-pixel so not demosaicking, exactly, just re-mosaicking.
    Anyone can repeat my experiments:
