Thanks for the reply. I tried each solution on the fonts troubleshooting page you sent.
It seemed to correct the problem temporarily.
But I still get crashes when I try to open and save.
Seems photoshop only crashes when I open a file in column view and it tries to "preview" the file I want to open, if that makes sense.
I might add, these are fairly large files, 3+GB each.
I guess I could just take it off column view.
Thanks.

Illustrator crashes on save and open
I have Illustrator CS4 which was working perfectly for weeks then suddenly it wouldn't open a file and then crashed.
Now it starts fine and I can work in it but as soon as I try to open an .eps or .pdf (or any file) it crashes. Also when just trying to save even the most simple file it crashes.
Now I've been on the phone with support who had me delete preferences etc, also I unistalled and resintalled with no improvement.
I even went as far as to reinstall CS3 and the same result.
Support did show me that if I log on as another user then it does work, but that means logging in and out to use Illustrator.
I've tried everything there is to make this work and it's killing my workflow.
Seems like Illustrator is just a bit too fragile of a program!
I hope someone knows how to fix this as Adobe doesn'tI am having the exact some problems but with CS5.5, Illustrator 5.1, I did post in the Illustrator forum and I've got 89 views and NO replies.

Can I save and open an attachemnt at the same time?
I want to be able to open an email with an attachement or attachments and click on the save button for the attachment(s), designate the location (folder) where they are to be saved - but also tell Mail to save the attachments then open them up on the desktop. Two operations in one. If you understand my request you understand what you have to do now - two separate steps. Save. Then find the saved files and open them.
OR
Open the attachment from the email which then downloads the file to your designated "all-purpose" location (not the ultimate location you'd want to save it). Then once you've seen it, you do the save thing with the original mail attachment and then have to go back and delete the file from the designated all-purpose download location.
This latter problem of having to delete unedited downloads manually could be solved with an option in Mail preferences to automatically delete unedited downloads in the "all-purpose" location after that same attachment had been downloaded to another specific location on your hard drive. This option for deleting unedited downloads does not exist, however.
But even if this step-saver option existed in the preferences, you still would not be able to tell your Mac to save a particular Mail email attachment to a particular folder AND open that attachment at the same time in one command.
That's what I want.
Maybe I want both. Save and open together plus the ability to automatically delete unedited attachment downloads in the "all-purpose" download file after the same attachment has been downloaded to another specific location on your hard drive.with IOS 6 yes you will be able to do that

Is there a simple way to save and open attachments?
When I save an attachment in mail, I have to hit save, navigate to the place to save, say OK, then to open it, I have to open a finder window, navigate (again) to the place, and open it. Because we have a very deep directory structure on our corporate drive, it takes like 20 seconds to do this every time I want to save an attachment. Isn't there an easier way to do this?
SUGGESTION TO APPLE: why not put a button on the Save dialog that says "Save and Open".Just click on the attachment to open it, then if it's worth saving, press Save As...
In the save window, you will see a list of recent places and if your lucky, one shows up that is on the mark and you can select it directly. -
How to save and open Text/csv file over APS
Hi,
I want to save(and open later) data from database block in text/csv file format over Application server, I did a lot of search here on Forms but didn't found a reasonable solution, Some one plz help me.
Thanks and Regards, Khawar. As long as you are using the Report Generation Toolkit, there is no need to use ActiveX for the purpose of saving the Excel file -- Save Report will do that for you. You can then export (as text) all of the Excel data and use the Write Spreadsheet File to make the .CSV file. Here is how I would rewrite the final bits of your code --
I cleaned up the wires around Excel Easy Table a bit. You'll see I made a VI Icon for Replace Filename, which does (I think) a nicer job of self-documenting than showing its Label. To make the filename, add the correct extension (.xlsx for Excel, .csv for CSV), use Build Path to combine Folder and Filename, and wire to Save Report.
The next two functions add the Extract Everything and Write to Spreadsheet, using a Comma as a separator, which makes a CSV copy for you.

Hi, I'm having trouble saving the documents when merging in Preview. I don't have any problems merging the pdf documents by dragging them in preview, but when I try to save and open afterwards, only the last shown doc was saved, not the combined files I wanted to merge. I've tried save and export, but none merge the documents after saving... how can I create the file (with all the pdf files) after merging?
That's a comment in the file. It has no effect at all.

Audition CS6 Crashes on Save and Attempts to Recover - Temp File Solutions?
After a 46 minute session recording in 44.1K, 16-bit, stereo running CS6 on Windows 7, my attempt to save the wav file resulted in a crash with Close Program or Look on Internet for Solution.
Attempts to restart the program and use recovery data worked initially, but subsequent save attempts resulted in the same crash.
Attempts to copy the wav file also resulted in a crash.
Shutdown and restart of the system yielded the same results, in fact worsening on some attempts to recover, where the data file reported 2 errors, eventually resulting in a complete freeze of CS6 when attempting the recovery.
At some point, the recovery option no longer was displayed -- may have been my fault, but there is a large 2+ GB file under c:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\Temp\Adobe\Audition\5.0 named Audition5Temp9b878c42-d2e1-46cf-b433-9cebd47d6640 with no extension.
I tried importing this as raw data, 44.1K, 2 channel, 16-bit PCM, Default Byte order, but that resulted in what appeared to be a 3-hour file that was very high amplitude noise.
I'm hoping for a means of recovering this data file. In the years I used CS5.5, I never had a problem like this and recovery always worked in those rare instances when it was needed.
This is my second extended session with CS6, and this crash has left me wondering why I bothered to upgrade.
Is there any hope at all here of recovering this session from the Audition5Temp file, or is it a total loss.
Please let me know.
Yours,
M.B.Hi Kent,
This issue has come up from time to time and we've traced it to a third-party application that is often installed and running on pre-configured computers. SupportSoft makes a system monitoring application that Dell, HP, Comcast, and others install, but which can interfere with applications. Since Audition uses the OS file dialog API, whereas Photoshop and the other design applications use a native dialog, this support application can often cause us to crash.
It's simple to disable, which should prevent Audition and other applications from crashing. Click the START button (or whatever it's called in Vista) and type MSCONFIG and press ENTER. When the "System Configuration" application launches, click the Services and Startup tabs and uncheck any item that reads SUPPORTSOFT or SUPPORTCMD. Click OK and restart and see if that doesn't fix the Audition issue.
If not, or if you're unable to locate those particular applications, please let me know and we can dig into this deeper.
Thanks,

How do I save pages in in design SC5.5 to be able to open and work in them in same SC5,5?
Most versions with dots in the number are updates that are considered the same version. What I mean is that version 23 is the same as 23.1 and 23.63. The dots indicate an update to fix bugs in earlier releases of the number to the left of the dot. New versions get a larger number to the left of the dot, so version 24 would be newer than version 23, and with most programs, version 23 wouldn't be able to open files saved in version 24.
That said, InDesign 5 and 5.5 are not the same version. You shouldn't expect to be able to open 5.5 files in 5. What you can do is export from 5.5 as IDML and open that file in 5. It sounds like you understand that, but the way you wrote: "open in IDML" is a little confusing. You don't really open in IDML, the IDML is a file format that you open the same way you open a regular InDesign file. I think you already know what to do, so I'll just say that it is working the way it's supposed to.
By the way, the best workflow is to stay in the same version the whole time. You can make a document in one version, and at a later time with a later version, you can still use the document, but sending it back to the old version is a bad idea. If you need it to be in the old version, just don't open it in the newer version. The reason is that it may not look the same as it did after you move it back to the old version, you might then have to do some tweaking to get it back the way you want (and hope you didn't miss anything). -
RoboHelp 10 .apj file error issues & crashing on save and generate
Hello All!
I am working with a large FM book (100+ FM files) that we have linked to a RoboHelp 10 project.
Everytime I update my RH project I am getting this error:
I have tried copying the folder, deleting the .apj file, and reopening. RHopens just fine.
The other major issue I am having is when I save and generate the project RoboHelp freezes up and won't save & generate the layout.
I have all of the FM files open and updated. Everything that can be updated in RH before save and genereate is updated. Any ideas??
Thanks!!I have moved this post to FrameMaker Integration as I think it will do better there.

Is there an easy way to take a layered Id cc file and save and open in an older Ps?
I am trying to proof and edit a book being made at a school where they are using Id cc. I do not have Id, and am trying to figure out how they can save the layered file to send me and open in Ps or Ai. All I see is converting to a pdf file but it seems complicated to keep the layers as is. They tried sending me pdf files and neither Ps or Ai will open them. And not sure if they saved in layers. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Lilred wrote:
If I upgrade to Ps cc…
Just to be clear, you are asking about Photoshop cc? I don't see how that would be a good choice in editing InDesign files. You would need to have the school send you a PDF that you would need to open in Photoshop, which would rasterize all of the text, making it uneditable. I've never tried to edit anything with text in Photoshop, so if there is a way to keep the live type, I'm not aware of it, but even if you could keep live type, Photoshop's text abilities are very basic. InDesign is what you really need to use, and if the school has CC files, I don't see any way you can edit files that they could use without using InDesign CC. At the very least, you would need to use some version of InDesign, if not the CC version, but then you would have to deal with the problems that can happen when sharing files of different versions.
And if you are considering editing with Illustrator, your type will likely break apart. I made an example that I'm posting as a screenshot.
I copied a paragraph of my response to you, pasted into InDesign, exported as a PDF, then opened the PDF in Illlustrator. The upper paragraph is live, and the lower is the Illustrator that I placed below. They look the same, but I have changed the color of the live type (after the export) to show you how it breaks apart. The first magenta bit is one text fragment. When the font changes to bold, it creates a new fragment (shown in green), then a third (in blue) when it goes back to Roman. The whole second line (in yellow) has been converted to outlines, so I can't edit it at all. If I wanted to remove two of the magenta words and insert 5 different words, the rest of the line wouldn't flow. That's what you're up against if you edit with Illustrator.
ID is the only real choice, and if they have CC, you should be using CC. -
