PS CS2 - Vista 64 - Sticky cursor

I have a Gateway LX6810-01 running Vista-64. 8 gig of memory.  Quite often with various tools and brushes the cursor becomes sticky.  I move the mouse and then the cursor jumps to the new location.  It usually happens when I've zoomed in to work on an area and then I scroll to a new area.  At this point it becomes sticky.  A work around is to zoom in or out just a little bit - it doesn't take much.
I've run as administrator and I've run in XP compatibility mode.  My copy of Photoshop Elements has the same problem.  I also have a Microsoft wireless mouse.
Anybody else having this problem?

Migrated to Windows-7 64 bit and still had the problem.
I encountered an additional problem with the mouse when I migrated. (ipoint.exe kept asking for \device\harddisk2\DR2)
After trying several things I deinstalled the Intellipoint driver for my wireless optical mouse.
Sticky mouse has gone away.  Mouse works fine using the system default mouse driver.

  • I have a sticky cursor on my Mac Air and I can't seem to shake it.

All of a sudden I got a sticky cursor. No fluids no accidents nothing happend to think this might be the problem.
Never changed anything it just happened.
Can any one tell me how to get it back to normal again?
Reboot not working for it, changing everything on the trackpad prefs won't help either.

Thanks for the reply and did try that already, I even tried de-selecting everything but it stays the same.
It selects everything, picks up everything. And on websites it selects text and so on while I don't want it.
After rebooting it seems gone, for a while but then it starts it again.
Mac Air is not overheating, and I haven't spilled anything on it.
Tried cleaning the trackpad and thought it helped, but it didn't

  • Could the occurences of "Sticky Cursor" be reduced by moving to 11g Forms?

    Friends,
Since the Forms and Reports Application I work on has migrated to use the Sun JRE it has been plagued by occurences of the "Sticky Cursor" issue.
Following discussions with Oracle via numerous service requests I can appreciate the cause of the problem and why it is difficult to fully fix. However this doesn't help our customer and the users wrestling with the application.
The application is currently running on 10.1.2.3 + 7482020 (or 7703734) + JRE 1.6.18 and I'm currently looking to test patch 8727236 to see if this improves things.
If the application was moved to Forms 11g would that reduce "Sticky Cursor" incidents?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi everyone!,
We are experiencing the same problem! We've just moved from Forms6 to Forms10g both running on UNIX. We are also using JRE 1.5.0_11-b03, but some people uses JRE 1.6.0.20 (although they have 1.5.0_11-b03 version installed as well). In both cases the problem persists.
We are investigating how we could fix this problem via metalink and on forums like this but we haven't find any right and exact solution to the problem, we've read about changing JRE version, but it seems this is not a definetly solution as some people says it works while others don't.
Metalink talks about inserting message bulit-in in our source code in several places and replace it for a synchronize once we detect this message solves the problem. Well, we've found out that writing a MESSAGE('');PAUSE; in WHEN_NEW_FORM_INSTANCE trigger solves the problem!, but if we replace that MESSAGE('');PAUSE; with a SYNCHRONIZE; the problem still remains!!! quite curious! Tha fact is writing this message is not a solution for us, we need another solution.
I'm writing here to see if somebody could give me any definetly solution!
I'm sorry Carpenteri for not helping you, i'm on the same point as you.
    Thanks everbody in advance!

  • CS2 & Vista error when saving JPG

Not sure its a VIsta thing
WHen I go to save a 8bit RGB file as a JPG, I get an error that says "could not complete your request because of a program error."
Its been working fine til today.
    Any help??
    George

I'm having the exact same problem as the original poster.  If I create a new file and save as JPG, it works fine.  The file I'm trying to save as JPG also works fine if I do "Save for Web" instead of "Save AS" and select JPG as the format.  I can save it as TIFF too.  Only when I try to save the file as JPG, embedding the profile (and the meta data that came from LightRoom) do I get this error.
I'm also running CS2 under Vista, in my case Vista 64.   Yes, I know I should upgrade to CS4. :-)

  • Can't open Pagemaker 6.5 files in ID CS2 - Vista

I was running ID CS2 on a Windows XP Pro system and had no problems opening Pagemaker 6.5 files. That system recently suffered a processor demise that affected the motherboard and forced me to start over with a new system that's now running Vista Home Premium. All of the programs I use loaded fine on Vista except Pagemaker 6.5. When I try to load it, I get a message saying it's not compatible. So I thought, OK, I'll simply open the Pagemaker files in In Design as I've done in the past and resave them. However, every file I've attempted to open gives me an error message saying the files are damaged and can't be opened. I know none of the files are damaged because I'd recently opened many of the same files in Pagemaker before the other system crashed. BTW, all of the Pagemaker files are on external drives so couldn't have been affected by the crash.
Any ideas how I can get around this?

Thanks, Bob. I have another issue that I can't find any specifics on in the forum.
Do you know why Arial Narrow fonts aren't available in the InDesign or Photoshop font list? I've always used these fonts with no problems in XP Pro, but since going to Vista, they don't show up. They're listed in the Windows font folder. The only one that shows up in InDesign and Photoshop is Arial regular. Arial Narrow shows up and is available in Word and other programs but not Adobe.

  • CS2, Vista, and problems with raw files

Hello everyone. I have recently installed CS2 with RAW updates 3.6 on my new computer, which happens to have Vista on it. The RAW files I created with my Nikon D80 are not showing in Bridge either as thumbnails or when I click on them to enlarge them.
Does Adobe plan to address this problem through future downloads?
Any suggestions? I may be slow to respond since I will be out of town this weekend.
    Thanks!

I've seen some strange things happen with Photoshop Elements on Vista. Some of it worked some didn't.
The security features of Vista are a bit too much at times and I got Elements to work by running the program with Administrator Priviledges.
It might be worth a try. Right click on the desktop icon and select Run as Administrator ( or something similar - I'm not on a Visa PC right now)

  • Satellite P100-324: Problems with Vista installation - cursor blinking

All greetings. Tried to put one of these days Windows Vista. But my attempts by failure have ended. After the first ???????????? there is a black screen and the blinking cursor. Thus any activity HDD and DVD it is not observed. BIOS recently updated up to v3.30. Help to put, already and I do not know what to think up.
For English I apologize, I from Russia:)

The disk "With" was formatted under NTFS then there was a pure installation from a loading disk through BIOS. At the start the computer starts to be loaded, and reaching a place where there should be a window of loading there is a black screen with the blinking cursor in the top left corner. Tried to wait for 10-15 mines, results has not brought.: (

  • Sticky cursor

My problem is that my cursor no longer grips. I mean I find it very difficult to grab a window and move it; the cursor just slides off.  I also have the same trouble with the scroll bar.
Incidentally, while reviewing this subject in my MOUNTAIN LION manual, I read that most people no longer use the  cursor in this way. Okay, I'm wiling to learn, so how do "with it" and "up-to-date" computer owners now move things around? By "things" I mean scroll bars, windows, etc.

You might try installing Smart Scroll. I didn't mention it before because it didn't work all the time, so I was still using  the scroll bar when Smart Scroll didn't work. However, I just discovered that I had needed to update the version that I had. Now that I have the latest version, it might be everything I need. There is also a possibility that Apple has introduced improvements in Mavericks that do the same thing as Smart Scoll. I don't know that to be true; it's just a possibility, because there are many Apple features that I have not yet discovered.
I strongly suggest that you try Smart Scroll. Basically, you just place your cursor on the screen. When you move the cursor up or down, the screen moves the same way.

  • Focus Lost - Sticky Cursor

    Hi folks,
When using 10gRel2 we get a lot of 'focus lost' problems. I read all threads here and in metalink; this problem is a very serious one and in some cases hard to reproduce. at least 10 different situation causes different focus lost situations.
Oracle has concentrated that issue in the base bug 5358366.
The fix for the focus lost problems will be implemented in JRE 1.5.0_9 which is currently not available at SUN. Nevertheless, has anybody received that internal version for testing? What's your experience?
    Thanks, werner

    Hi kndwds,
Would be very interested in sharing some information re your Focus Lost question. We have had very similar issues in all versions of Forms (and occassionally have managed to create test cases) resulting in a number of patches. In 10.1.2 and the Sun JVM, the issue is very much worse, but currently we can not reproduce a repeatable test case.
I have reviewed all the bugs, but this does not provide much meaningful information.
Can you provide any update on the situation with your TAR, and if at all possible, full details of the test case that you have been able to provide.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Regards
    Marc Ludwig

  • Windows Vista won't start or install - firmware or EFI problem?

I am running Snow Leopard on a 2.4GHz MacBook Pro, late 08 - early 09 model. I have been using boot camp to run Vista for the past year with no problem. This morning, I tried to start up Vista and it wasn't working. I got the option key screen to choose between OSX and Vista, but after choosing vista, the cursor blinks once and I get a black screen. The computer is quiet and nothing seems to be running.
At first I thought it was a boot camp problem. So I went into OSX, de-partitioned the drive, and repartitioned it. I then stuck the Vista install disk in, and clicked through the boot camp assistant to reinstall. The computer restarted to begin the reinstall process, but instead of starting the install disk, it did the same thing - a single blip of cursor, and then a black screen.
I'm not technically savvy, but that seems like it's not a Windows problem, but a firmware or EFI problem. The computer will run OSX, but it won't run boot camp and it won't start from a CD-ROM. The only other steps I've taken are to run Software Update and the Disk Utility from Safari. Neither helped. I'm out of warranty and would love to be able to fix it without spending tons of money. Any help is appreciated.

open terminal, run the following command:
    sudo gpt -r show -l /dev/disk0
(press return, enter admin password, press return again)
output should look something like this:
    Betsy7:~ kj$ sudo gpt -r show -l /dev/disk0
    Password:
gpt show: /dev/disk0: Suspicious MBR at sector 0
    start size index contents
    0 1 MBR
    1 1 Pri GPT header
    2 32 Pri GPT table
    34 6
    40 409600 1 GPT part - "EFI System Partition"
    409640 316879664 2 GPT part - "RAPTOR"
    317289304 262144
    317551448 200889128 3 GPT part - "RAPTOR2"
    518440576 262144
    518702720 67287033 4 GPT part - "XP"
    585989753 82582
    586072335 32 Sec GPT table
    586072367 1 Sec GPT header
    The first line:
"gpt show: /dev/disk0: Suspicious MBR at sector 0"
should be identical to mine. If the "Suspicious MBR"
line is missing, then it is a GPT problem, which indicates
that the MBR information is missing or more likely corrupt.
also the second and third lines will read:
    start size index contents
    0 1 PMBR
    instead of:
    start size index contents
    0 1 MBR
If the MBR info in the GPT partition is corrupt or missing,
then (obviously) Windows won't be bootable.
The only tool reliably capable (that I know of) of repairing (rebuilding) the GPT/EFI
without wiping off all partitions and repartitioning the drive
    is iPartition:
    http://www.coriolis-systems.com/iPartition.php
The command line program "gpt" is incomplete, so use
    it at your own risk:
    BUGS
The development of the gpt utility is still work in progress. Many necessary features
are missing or partially implemented. In practice this means that the manual page,
supposed to describe these features, is farther removed from being complete or useful.
As such, missing functionality is not even documented as missing. However, it is believed
that the currently present functionality is reliable and stable enough that this tool can be used
without bullet-proof footware if one thinks one does not make mistakes.

  • Illustrator CS2 Registration screen

Everytime I start Illustrator CS2 it displays the Registration Screen. Even though I have registered now many, many times the screen still comes up. How can I make it stop?
    Thanks

Hi - did you ever resolve this?... I have the same trouble with CS2 & Vista.

  • DIRECTOR 11 PROBLEM + CURSOR + WMV

We are building kiosks for Vista, and have encountered a
    problem with Director 11
Director 11 on XP and Vista:
Problem: cursor always appears over WMVs and MPGs sprites on
    stage
Things tried: Cursor 200, new _cursor.etc syntax tried,
    framescripts moviescripts, behaviours etc.
    within, etc.
I tried a lot, can't seem to program around it.
The system will appear the cursor, everywhere else on stage
    it will go.
Do this some years, it's new.
Tried cursor hiders on Vista and XP. No program will show a
cursor, WM within the projector is the only one overruling.
The cursor is impossible to hide when it is over the video.
Seems like a Director 11 bug.
Anyone have any idea how to get the cursor to dissapear ?
    Or anyone encounter this ?
Does anyone have a short term solution ? Cursor hiders won't
    work:
    - Does anyone know if it is possible in Vista registry to set
the start location of the mouse to for example 0,0
    - Does anyone know if there is a way in Director to set the
mouseh and mousev ? Cannot be set.
    - Does anyone know how to hide the cursor in Director 11 over
    WMVs or MPGs ?

I think this has always been an issue with #windowsMedia
    sprites.
You could use Buddy API's baRestrictCursor() and
    baFreeCursor() to force
the cursor off the WMV sprite while it plays.
Alternatively, since it's a kiosk, you could try the MPEG
    Advance xtra
or another media player xtra that supports WMV

  • Launching from desktop shortcuts results in shared JInitiator sessions?

    Hello,
I've been looking into how best to give users a route into my Forms 10gR2 application, and had set up a desktop shortcut. This is just a URL to an intermediate htm file, which then uses window.open() Javascript to run the URL for the application itself in a stripped-down browser window. I've turned off the Internet Explorer option 'Reuse windows for launching shortcuts', so a new IE window is always opened rather than use an existing one.
That all works fine in principal. I've noticed, though, that if a browser is already open, then clicking on the shortcut will open a new browser window (good) but that is still part of the existing browser process. This means that if I use the desktop shortcut twice, to start two separate sessions of my application, they are in different windows but sharing the same browser process - and the same JInitiator (I only see one instance of the JInitiator console, with outputs from the two sessions.) That scenario often causes the newer application session to hang terminally before login.
The problem doesn't occur if I manually force starting of a new IE instance to run my second application session. It definitely seems to be a problem with running two Forms sessions in one IE instance - I read on another post there was a known bug on this in Forms 10g904, I'd have thought this would be fixed by now..?
Has anyone else had similar problems? Or experience of using desktop shortcuts to start a Forms app?
    Cheers,
    James

I haven't done much with JPI, apart from testing it locally on my development box. I've successfully lobbied our DBA in support of creating an alternate JPI config on our test server, to evaluate its effect on an app currently under development, but I've yet to ask that he actually create that config.
My main reason for wanting JDK 1.4 or better, is to gain support for regular expressions. I'm running JPI 1.3.1_16, so I haven't had a chance to observe the behavior you're describing with JPI 1.5. The Java Plug-In Control Panel provides allows me to choose which JRE it employs -- does JPI 1.5 no longer support this? As for the sticky-cursor issue, I am not familiar with it -- I guess I'll have to research that a bit!
I'll be working with JPI more, over the coming weeks/months, and will be certain to report back with the results of my testing.
    Later,

  • Drag and drop not working 1 day after installing OS 10.8.5

MacBook Pro 17", 2010, Upgraded from 10.6.8 to 10.8.5. Seemed to work OK. Next day, I noticed files & folders attach to cursor. When I hit esc key, folder returnes to original position. Photoshop also has problems with selection tool. Tried repairing permissione, ran Disk Warrior, booted in safe mode, no sticky curser, then rebooted normally & sticky curser was back Seems like quite a few people have been experiencing this, but I don't see any answers that have worked. Should I reinstall Mtn Lion? Thanks.

    Wow, thanks grant4sure!
I upgraded to Mountain Lion 10.8.5 yesterday. Today I had the dreaded sticky cursor. Googled the problem. Ran all sorts of disk utilities, P-RAM reset, safe booting, permission repairs, sharing all permissions. Nothing worked. Then I read your comment above about putting your Mac to sleep & waking it up. I did that and IT WORKED. My sticky cursor issue is fixed, Photoshop now works properly again. You saved me an OS re-install (which may not have fixed the problem!)
    Thanks again!

  • Ati radeon xpress 200 series driver installing windows 8.1 pro black screen

dell optiplex 320 running Windows 8.1 standard.  The display is listed as ATI RADEON XPREES 200 in the device manager.
It is using the driver provided by the operating system - ATI Technologies dated 10/2/2010 and version 10-2_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc and ATI_ATI-Radeon-Xpress-X1100_A03_R172873.  From a cold boot the blue Windows logo appears and then the mouse cursor
in the middle of the screen, but the start screen with the tiles is not displayed.  Maybe this sounds weird, but I think the start screen and tiles is there, but just not being shown on the screen.  There appears to be nothing there, but I can move
the cursor around on the black screen and click in frustration.  Then I press the power button and the laptop enters sleep mode.  Once in sleep mode I press power again to resume the computer and then the lock screen shows up and I can see the start
screen and tiles and everything works like it should.  This only happens from a cold boot.  If the computer was on and restarted it does not happen.  Has this happened to anyone else?  Any suggestions?  I will check for a newer display
driver from ATI.  The only driver on the Windows Update Catalog is for Windows Vista.

mouse cursor in the middle of the screen, but the start screen with the tiles is not displayed.
Usually it is nVidia users who complain of this.  An explanation would be that you are seeing your secondary monitor display in an Extended display configuration.  When you press Win- etc. it would show on your primary monitor (which you can't
see).  So, press Win-P anyway and imagine that you can see its display.  Then you would press CursorUp, Enter and switch display configurations so you could see something.
only happens from a cold boot.
Then there is a feature in a boot that makes this change.  Try using Win-P again when you can see it to see what the configuration is then.
