Tim Simpson

Hallo Tim,
genau das suche ich auch. Bist Du fündig geworden?
Vielen Dank

  • Set the filename in a textframe with JS in Illustrator CS2 WIN

Hello and good morning (and sorry for my bad english),
I found some possibilities to set the filename in a textframe. But only in applescript or for CS (WS-dateandtime v0.8 from Wolfgang Reszel)
b There is no JS-script, which works correctly in Illu CS2 Win.
Please, help me to get a JS-script that proper works.
    Here is the code:
    //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// english //
    // -=> WR-DateAndTime <=-
// A Javascript for Adobe Illustrator
// by Wolfgang Reszel ([email protected])
// Version 0.8 from 30.8.2004 (also should work with Illustrator CS)
// This script inserts the actual date or the actual time to a
// predefined position in the document.
// To define the position, you'll have to create an textobject and
// execute this script while the object is selected. The whole object
// has to be selected and not words or letters. You can mark more
// objects, if you select each object separate and execute
    // the script on it.
// With the placeholders {DATE} and {TIME} you are able to define a
// particular point, where the date or the time should be replaced.
// If there is no placeholder in the textobject
// "{FILENAME} ({DATE}, {TIME})" will be used as standard placeholders.
// To update the date and time execute this script without any object
    // selected.
// There are some additional placeholders:
    // {FILE} - complete document-filename with path
    // {FILEPATH} - only the documents filepath
// {FILENAME} - the filename of the document
// On my system this script can't see the path of the document, when
// it was opened directly from windows Explorer (double click).
// In Illustrator CS it is now possible to edit a DateAndTime-Object.
// To enable the english messages and date-format change the "de"
// into "en" in line 90.

    Hello Steve Light,
Thanks a lot for answering me. I did it (renamed and added this two lines at new line 89 and 90 in the Script, selected Textframe and execute the jsx from Windows-Explorer) but nothing happened. Only a warning message appeared. It sayed: "You used an illustrator-12 Script " The Message is in German, I cannot to translate literally.
No filename and no date wasn't fill in textframe.
It's a great pity, the same Script runs in CS3 without problems. But I need it for CS2 :-(
    What can I do?
Sorry for my bad english again.

  • Serial number is invalid for CS2 install.  Have downloaded per Adobe instruction and using Adobe published serial number

I moved Illustrator CS2 to a new computer an can not activate.
Deleted the current and downloaded per instructions from Adobe site, but the serial number provided by Adobe will not activate the program.  I get a "Invalid Serial Number" after inputting the serial number from the download site.
This is the site I downloaded from adn ther Serial Number I am using
    https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs2-product-downloads.html
    1034-0416-0740-0527-2887-2375

    Doug,
    Just to make sure:
Is it AI as a standalone application for Mac?
Otherwise, it will be one of the other serial numbers (for the whole suite (Mac or Win) if it forms part of it, or for the standalone Win AI).
Concerning the whole suite, you should be aware that the only suite version available for download is the Standard, so if you have the CS2 Premium you will need to, you have to download the Standard and then the Acrobat Professional and GoLive separately.

  • Replacing PSE6 w/  CS2  (WIN)

I'm thinking of replacing my PSE6 SW w/ Photoshop CS2. Any tips, comments, helpful past experiences you can share, or links to pertinent info? My OS is Win XP SP3.

You are allowed to install CS2 on two computers (per license) but not run both copies of CS2 at the same time.
If you ever uninstall the program or want to move it to another computer, remember to deactivate the current computer first.
CS2 calls it "Transfer". This was changed to "Deactivate" in CS3.
    I
think you have something like 10 activations per x period. Rumor has it that reactivations are reset after a set period.

  • DNG 8; CS2; Win XP

Refering to earlier post:  Adobe page seems to say DNG 8.X will only work with Win 7 or 8 and CS6!  Are you sure it will work with CS2 and Win XP?

Yes you can. The DNG converter will create images that are compatible with Camera Raw versions back to version 2.4. Just make sure you set appropriate compatibility options in the DNG converter interface.
Although you will be able to have all the features that were available in your version of Camera Raw, technology has come a long way since then. You would be well advised to consider upgrading if you can.

  • Unable to open D3 NEF in CS3 (Mac) and CS2 (Win)

I have installed the latest Camera Raw Update file (Mac OSX 10.5.3), but when I try to open a nef-file that was taken with my Nikon D3, CS3 complains about an invalid file type - ??? Opening the same file in Nikon NX works without a problem. A friend of mine who still works with CS 2 on Windows XP (incl. Camera Raw 3.7) has the same problem.
Any idea? Since Nikon NX is opening the file the problem can't come from the camera, right? I apreciate every tip! Thanks in advance.

To answer the first question (from the first message), take a look at the installation instructions and make sure you have placed the plug-in in the exact folder. There is a user folder and a main (?) Folder that are named very similarly, and you must put the plug-in in the right one or it won't work. I apologize, but I have never used by Mac computer so my terminology may not be exactly right.
As far as the second question is concerned, I don't believe the Nikon D60 was supported until after CS3 was released. Ongoing support for Camera Raw is only provided for the current version of Photoshop. Photoshop CS2 might not be very old from your point of view, but in software it is practically ancient history.
The last version of Camera Raw that would work with Photoshop CS2 is version 3.7. If your camera is not supported in that version then you will either have to upgrade your version of Photoshop or else you can use the most current version of the DNG converter to convert your raw files to DNG files. Those can be opened in Photoshop CS2/Camera Raw 3.7.

  • With CS2 (Win XP), why am I not able to see a print option for 13x19" output?

I have printed smaller pages, 4x6 and 8x10 inch, with my CS2 to my HP Photosmart Pro B9180 printer.  However, I am now ready to print 13 x 19" prints and there is not option in the printer setup in CS2 to select it.  I even converted 13x19 to 330mm x 483 mm and there isn't an option in milimeters either.  Can anyone help please?  David

Thanks for your response.  I hadn't mentioned I was using a B9180 icc profice and since the 9180 can print up to 13x19 inches you'd think there'd be an option to do so, so I'll recheck it.  Thanks again.

  • CS2, win, loading fonts

I'm working primarily in Illustrator, but this question may pertain to all the CS2 programs.
When I first open Illustrator in the morning, I find myself waiting for what seems like 5 minutes for all my fonts to load. Is there a way to open the program without initially loading the fonts, and then load the fonts when needed?
    Dell Laptop
    Windows XP Pro
    intel pentium M
    1.8 ghz, 1 gig RAM
    Thanks, Richard

Type managers take font files out of the system folder (c:\windows\fonts) to a location of your choosing. (OK... not
all fonts -- some basic fonts will always remain in the system folder.)
Within the manager you will typically create 'sets' of fonts. These sets might pertain to a font family, a client, a project... you get the idea. You activate only the set(s) you need to do your work.
Some managers will automatically activate the fonts you need (e.g., for the document you just opened) on a dynamic basis.
If you properly set up your manager, therefore, Windows never sees more than a basic set of fonts that are loaded full-time. Illustrator and all other applications will only "see" those basic fonts plus those that are activated by the manager.

  • CS2 @ Win XP: Pie charts not closed

    Hi all,
I have a pretty urgent problem with pie charts in Illustrator CS2
    Here is what I do
    - Start Illustrator
    - create new document
    - select pie chart from tools
    - draw a rectangle for my chart
    - in the poped up window, I enter these values:
    330
    192
    295
There are lots more values which result in an unproper chart.
I need a fix for that extremely urgent.
Using different values or manual editing of the chart are inacceptable workarounds.
    Thanks for help.

Is it then just some specific data values that give incorrect results?
Did you double-check the graph data panel?
Does it maybe contain blank rows, columns or cells?
Are there blanks (or other irrelevant stuff) somewhere within the value cells, in amongst the digits?
Are you using whole integers and/or decimals, and if decimals are you using the correct decimal symbols (points or commas depending on language)?
It seems very odd to me if only some values give incorrect results. I have never seen Illy produce unclosed pie charts before and I've done quite a lot of them. I am therefore not quite convinced that it is a bug - could it possibly be an error in the Illy data?
Like I said, I do know of an error in the data spreadsheets in CS2, so maybe Illy is wrongly interpreting the Excel data. It seems unlikely to me that this is a Mac/Windows thing and an update to CS3 or 4 may be in order.
    330, 192, 295 worked perfectly for me.

  • Using Aperture with PS CS2 (Win) running in Parallels

Does anyone know if it's possible to use Aperture's "Open with External Editor" option with the Windows version of Photoshop CS2 runnning within Parallels?
    MacBookPro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
    MacBookPro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Ian is correct.
One option is to output to 16-bit TIF (set the preset to AdobeRGB vs. sRGB). Open this in CS2, adjust, save (still as 16-bit TIF and make sure "Maximize Compatibility is set to "Always"). Then, import this back into Aperture and regroup it into the stack (<Apple><Click> the images to group and then from the menu line, choose Stacks/Stack).
The good news is that I'm now down to around 2% of my images that go into CS2 for image adjustment purposes. If you are in a similar state then the above could be workable.

  • Correctly align imported AI/PDF [CS2, Win, JS]

    Hi all,
Would really appreciate it if someone could provide some insight about this issue (ILL CS2, but I suspect later versions act the same, Windows, JS):
I'm trying to import an existing AI into an empty layer of a new one, so that the new file will be in effect identical to the existing one. So I read the height and width of the existing file, create a new one with the same measurements and then use the createFromFile() method of the groupItems collections to import it.
The problem is that the imported item is not aligned properly with the new file. I can see that they are identical in size, but the crop area from the original file is outside the artboard, which causes an offset when saving the new file as a PDF. The same happens if I first save the AI as a PDF and then try to import that.
If I do exactly the same thing manually (using the Place command), the result is perfect.
Any ideas on how to overcome this annoying problem?

  • [CS2 Win] "A buffer overrun has been detected..." on startup of InDesign CS2 Debug

Installed InDesign CS2 Debug on a completely new machine but it failed to launch.
The message occurs while "Executing startup services..."
I get a "Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library" window with the message "A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue and must now be terminated".
My only other installations performed before this were Visual Studio NET 2003 and Adobe InDesign SDK.
I've seen two threads in the forum about this problem and wondered if anyone got the solution.
Especially since someone appears to have opened a support case about this issue.
    The archived threads are:
Buffer Overrun Error In InDesign Debug Version
"A buffer overrun has been detected..." CS2 debug
Hopefully someone can help me with this.
I've now uninstalled and re-installed Indesign, InCopy & the InDesign SDK several times trying to get around this.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    - Jackeen.

    Jackeen,
You probably have corrupted preferences on the "troublesome" user. Each user has his/her own ones - including "lost" files, etc. and they can become corrupted.
A couple days ago I was "fighting" a similarly strange problem - a crash on closing a document - only to have it disappear after the preferences were reset automatically at some point (as seen because palettes, etc. returned to their "default" place.

  • [ID CS2 Win]How do you remove entries from the debug TRACE menu

TRACEFLOW is really useful, and over time the entries for have grown but don't shrink automatically.
They have now reached a point where there are too many for indesign to cope with "TRACE menu has overflowed allocated action ids".
How do I clear the menu? I've tried deleting the Version 4.0 folder from Application Data\Adobe\InDesign, but even without the plugin loaded it still finds all the old entries.
    TIA
    Ian

Thanks Marco - I edited the file instead of deleting, and now have a sensible menu.

  • Text/image boxes disappearing when printed to PDF [CS2, Win]

Strange things are happening today: Text boxes and image boxes, perfectly visible in InDesign -- are completely disappearing when printed to PDF.
The first time I printed, everything came out fine. Then after I moved some stuff around and reprinted, things disappeared.
Any insight would be much appreciated.

    Yes, that worked. Thanks!
    Any idea why this happened?
