PS CS3 and Mac 10.9.5

I"m using PS CS3 with Mac 10.9.5. This week had to do a wipe and reinstall of the Mac due to numerous problems.  Now can't get CS3 disc to reinstall even though I successfully did this about 2 months ago.  Have tried clean and re-install, but am not able to follow the instructions.  I would appreciate any help please

Erik,
Here it is always recommended to open/save AI documents from/to own harddisk, and to only copy from/to externals such as local server/whatever.
The reason is that with the latter, AI files tend to get corrupted sooner or later, so you may be lucky for a while but it hurts when your luck runs out.
In addition to the (far greater) risk of file corruption, some issues are mentioned here:

  • Dreamweaver CS3 and Mac OS 10.4.11 Incompatability

I have been using Dreamweaver CS3 under OS 10.4.10 for a few
months without significant issues... but after upgrading to 10.4.11
    there is a significant problem.
I am unable to access any of my remote servers to upload
files to the sites I have built.
I was able to reinstall Dreamweaver 8 and it works fine with
    all the same setups
I've read a technote on a noted problem with Dreamweaver CS3
and Mac OS 10.5 - but it also appears to happen on 10.4.11
You can read the 10.5 technote here:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402780

I have not experienced this problem. Try removing the DW CS3
preferences file in your Library and then let DW build a new one.
BTW, what error you are getting when you try to FTP?

  • Adobe CS3 and Mac Pro

For professionals using Adobe CS3 on Mac Pro about how much RAM is needed to run all 6 programs together efficantly? I'm looking into upgrades and really need some advice- Any out there to give?
    Thanks,
    Port

It depends. If you work with files greater than 1GB, almost as much RAM as you want/need (8GB would be good).
    What do you have now?
Are you use to using a large fast scratch RAID to help?
The more programs running (and not just CS3 but others as well) the more the merrier.
Same applies to whether you want 2.66 or 3.0 or 8-core model.

  • Best Raid 0 for PS CS3 and Mac Pro

I am getting closer to ordering a new Mac Pro to run PS CS3 - and to drive 3 big Epson printers. I am leaning toward the dual-core 3.0 GHz as the results and speed for the 8 core with PS CS3 are still not known. It will have 6 to 8 GB of RAM (depends on my budget).
I want to make a machine that will do only PS CS3 - at the fastest possible rate. I have lots of other Macs for running other applications. I plan to order the Mac Pro with 1x 500MB hard drive - and add 2 smaller, but faster drives for the OS and for PS - and for the PS scratch/cache- and to put that on a Raid 0.
I am looking at getting 2 Raptor 150MB 10,000 RPM drives for the Raid 0. They can be small -maybe even just the 70MB versions -as I would only use them for booting OS and for running PS CS3. Images would be saved to a different disk. I have 10 external LaCie FW800 drives for image storage and backups. I will also use the 500MB drive that comes with the new Mac Pro for image storage - and maybe add a 4th similar 500 or 750MB drive for additional storage on the mac Pro itself.
My thought is that if I only have the OS and the PS on the Raid 0 a total failure would do little harm. I would not lose anything except maybe the image being worked on at the time of failure. The applications and OS could be rebuilt from the install CDs.
Is this a good plan? Is there another way to get maximum PS CS3 speed on the new Mac Pro?

    Some considerations:
Ideally you want to use separate drives (or RAID volumes) for:
    1. Mac OS X and Photoshop
    2. Scratch space
    3. Storage of images that you're processing
If you use a striped volume for the boot disk, then you'll have to keep another bootable disk to perform some firmware updates (firewire drives work well) - you'll want to do this anyway with a RAID 0...
Buy your RAM so that you can get the quad-channel performance...
If you are comfortable working inside the computer, you can also add a 5th/6th drive in the optical bay. To add one extra drive, you just need 5.25 drive mounting bracket. For two extra drives (or even 4) you can use this product:
    http://www.maxupgrades.com/istore/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_i d=158
I found that an 18" SATA cable with elbow connectors is the best... you'll also want a 6" SATA power adapter (4pin-15pin)
My suggestion would be to add a 5th hard drive to the Mac Pro. That way, you could use (1) 150 GB raptor as the boot/PS disk, and then created TWO striped RAIDs with the 4 remaining disks. Perhaps (2) raptors for a scratch stripe, and (2) disks for users/storage. If your storage needs are less than 300 GB, then get 5 raptors...
If your LF Epson printers are firewire, then you'll want each to be on it's own firewire bus - get additional PCIe firewire cards as needed.
All of the drive recommendations above assume that you're doing daily (or more often) backups of any RAID 0 stripes that you create...
    EDIT:
On second thought, you might want to stripe the boot drive for better printing performance (waiting for OS to write to the spool)... so perhaps add a 6th internal SATA disk and have 3 unique 300 GB (striped) volumes.

  • PS CS3 and Mac OS 10.6 problems

I recently upgraded my mac OS from 10.4.8 to 10.6 and now my PS CS3 won't open, why?

Some years back CS3 came up with the same error on my PC and it took awhile to find a solution.  The best I can offer is a link to the information I used to resolve it - I don't know if it will hold up for a Mac as I don't remember if the OS was a significant aspect of the fix.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 and Mac OSX Leopard 10.5

I did an Erase and Install of Mac OSX Leopard 10.5... so it's
    a clean install.
I installed the Adobe Web Premium software (full, not
    upgrade).
Dreamweaver has been CRASH city. Try to merge some tables...
crash. Try to copy past a graphic from one page to another...
crash. Try to connect to a MySQL database.... crash. Trying to work
on a website I must have had 10 crashes in the last hour.
Is there an upgrade needed to CS3 to work correctly on
    Leopard?

    David thanks so very much!!!
After hours of looking for a solution i went into the
    following folders
    Mac HD/Users/[user]/Library/Application
    Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver 9/Configuration
    Mac HD/Users/[user]/Library/Application
    Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver 9/configuration-1
removed the files as you said above
    MacFileCache[random_numbers].dat
and hey presto, restarted Dreamweaver and it loaded, but for
one time only, then the problem started again where it would tell
me there is an ftp error and cannot connect to the remote host,
then when i clicked ok, it would tell me there as an eror trying to
    load an empty document.
My problems started after upgrading leopard MacOSX 10.5.
However, it seems that this problem is persistant everytime i
restart Dreamweaver, do you know how i can permanantly solve this
    and why its being caused?
    Thanks

  • Photoshop CS3 and Mac 10.5.8 with new HP C1525nw printer

Any new Photoshop documents printed to the new printer comes out in characters instead of the image. We are using an Intel based Macbook runing 10.5.8 Leopard and have done all the updates to the computer as well as the firmware update to the printer. The printer shows that is a postscript printer. I am running out of ideas and anything to try would be greatly appreciated.
    Very stressed over this.
    Thanks.

Please pardon me for asking a super-basic question, but did you install the driver software provided with the printer?
I looked up the printer specs, and they list Postscript level 3 emulation as one of 3 languages it can recognize.  Could it be set to HP PCL 6 or 5c instead?  That would probably be a setting on the printer itself.

  • How to open Camera RAW (CR2) files in Photoshop CS3 and CS4? (Mac)

I have a Canon 7D. I prefer to shoot in raw format, but the CR2 files cannot be opened by either Photoshop CS3 on my Mac in the office OR by Photoshop CS4 on my iMac at home.
I have tried dowloading the Adobe DNG Coverter and Camera Raw 4.6 update (which is SUPPOSEDLY intended to work for CS3) and followed the instructions to replace the plug-in. STILL a no-go. CS3 STILL tells me "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
What gives? Does anyone know of a way to get CR2 files to open in Photoshop CS3 or CS4? (A way that actually works?) Because Adobe's plug-in update doesn't seem to do it, and Canon's "fine-grain" editing controls for raw images is pretty lack-luster.
    Thanks (in advance)!

Have you tried opening up out of Bridge? If that doesn't work you may new need to download a new driver from Canon. All my peripherals are Canon and I am always having to download new drivers everytime I update. Fortunatly they are really easy to find on Canon's site.

  • Run CS3 and 8 at the same time on mac?

I want to download a trial version of the CS3 and run it, at
the same time, as my existing Dreamweaver 8 on my G5 Mac running
10.4.10. (It is NOT an Intel Mac.) There is a 30 day trial and this
way, in the downtime between projects, I can test out and use the
CS3 version and make sure it is stable on my system, learn to use
it a bit, set it up the way I would want it, but always be able to
cut back to 8 in a pinch if I have mission critical work that must
get done. I know 8 like the back of my hand and know nothing about
CS3 version, so I like the safety net of being able to run them
    both.
Any issues with this? Is it possible? Will it break anything
    - like with my stable and running CS2 apps and Acrobat 7?

You can have several versions of Dw on your system ( I have
    Dw2004 up
to CS4 beta ) but you can only have one running at a time on
    a
    standard machine.

CS3 is rather stricter about code - so depending on how well
    your code
validates - it may complain if there are any problems.
Bear in mind that CS4 may be released sometime in the next
    few months
    - there is no public info when that will be - so maybe better
    to wait
    for that.

  • Camera Raw and Mac 10.5.6, CS3 and Canon 5D Mark II

Just got the 5D Mark II and have CS3 installed (Mac OS). Is there an update for Camera Raw - Photoshop cannot read the files

    Gordon,
Jeff just gave you the solution. You must first convert your raw files to DNG files with the latest version of the DNG Converter, 5.2.
Then you can open those DNG files with ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) 4.6 hosted by CS3.
You will never be able to open your Canon raw files from that camera directly in CS3. CS3 is not shipping anymore, so there will be no updates for it, ever. You will have to convert your files every time you shoot with that camera, until you upgrade to CS4.
However, Adobe Camera Raw 5.2 is soooooo far ahead of ACR 4.x, that upgrading to CS4 just to use ACR 5.2 is a no-brainer. I upgraded on that basis alone myself.
    If you do upgrade,
    this book
is highly recommended reading for you.

  • HTTPS and MMHttp in Dreamweaver CS3 for Mac

MMHttp doesn't seem capable of HTTPS communication in
    Dreamweaver CS3 for Mac.
    When I do something like
    MMHttp.getText("https://americanexpress.com");
the resulting response has no data and a status code of 0.
    With
    MMHttp.getText("
    http://americanexpress.com");
(i.e. non-SSL) the response has data and a status code of
    200.
This works fine on a Windows version of Dreamweaver CS3. Does
    anyone have any suggestions?
I've only tried this on a trial version of DW CS3 for Mac.
I'm hoping to get a full version soon.

I managed to get a full copy of Dreamweaver CS3 for the Mac.
HTTPS doesn't work with MMHttp there either.
    Do you have any suggestions?

  • Anyone used both CS3 on PC and MAC ?

Very long time professional user of Premiere on PC platform.
If (and I mean "if") I change from PC to MAC and install CS3, will I be in "very familiar territory" (apart from the OS of course).
I am considering this major step because I may want to run FCP on the same machine. Anyone know if they would co-exist?

I am running both CS3 and FCS2 (FCP6) on a dual Quad MacPro and am not having any issues. To be honest, I haven't had the chance to run PPro that much yet 'cause I'm working on jobs I started in FCP, but the little non-taxing things I have done in PPro have gone well. PPro behaves just as it does on my PC's and seems 'snappy'. Haven't tried every function yet, especially exporting, etc. but seems good so far and identical to PC version in every way I've tried it so far. I think you'll be comfortable in PPro on Mac. I think you'll like OSX too!

  • Can I use CS3 and CS6 both on the same Mac?

    Hello
I just purchased the upgrade from CS3 ti CS6 web and design premium MLP TLP.
Before to install I need to know if I can use both CS on the same Mac, to avoid problems with old files and be sure I could work.
Also I need to know if I can install CS6 on the two Mac internal hard drives, one with Snow Leopard MacOS (10.6.8) and one with the Lion MacOS (10.7.x). In some cases I must use Snow Leopard for compatibility issue with other software.
    Thanks a lot

Installing on two partitions uses two activations, but can be done with no issue. There is no issue on running CS3 and CS6 on the same Mac. However, there is no guarentee that running CS3 on a newer machine will be totally error free. But I think for the most part you should be ok on Snow Leopard.

  • Illustrator CS3 and CS4 crashes on two different Mac Pro systems

We have two Mac pro systems. Both are running 10.5.6. As of this morning both systems crash when trying to save files from Illustrator CS3 and CS4.
I'm not sure if this started with a corrupted file, and when we tried to work with it on both machines it effected both.
    Does anyone have an idea?

    Do use TimeMachine for data;
    SuperDuper for imaging the system;
Clone the system at least twice: known good backup image and for testing.
Clone or image can be just a sparse image created with Disk Utility.
I would also keep user accounts separate from the system and on 2nd drive.
Rather than reinstall, use alternate systems. You may even need to do what others have learned to, one system for specific task or configuration.
    Use different user accounts.
Don't rule out plist or preference settings or corruption.
Normally I use Disk Warrior to keep a system maintained but TechTool Pro (5.01) will do more to check files for integrity and errors, and useful addition.
If I was building a sytem today, I'd probably use 10K WD VelociRaptor or two for system, some scratch drives in stripped RAID for editing and saving work, and then media drive(s). With 3 backup sets of work.
Apple now sells OS X 10.5.6 on DVD, replacing the 10.5.4 (and 10.5.0, shame there is no upgrade program) so they must feel 10.5.6 is gold. Not all software and hardware though does, but Sonnet just posted updates for their SATA Tempo card drivers. When it comes to production, newest and latest is not usually best.

  • I'm a beginner of CS3 and a mac user, here I got a question need some help.

    Hi All Masters,
I'm a beginner of CS3 and a mac user, here I got a question looking for some help.
Does anyone know there's a work for editing the photo to painting styles such as watercolor painting, oil painting, pastel drawing, colored pencil or pencil sketching in Adobe serials ?
If not, does anyone know any software offering these features,

The best overall art styles plugin for PS is probably AlienSkin's SnapArt. I'd say their filters are a cut above Photoshop's which are old and have never been updated.
    http://www.alienskin.com/snapart/snapart_examples.aspx
That being said, the best painterly interpretations of photographs I've ever seen are done with Painter.
    http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/en/Product/1166553885783#tabview=tab0
There is a basic version sort of like Photoshop Elements which is still better than Photoshop for artistically rendering photos into 'paintings.'
