PS CS3 Color Picking Problem.

I'm using PS CS3 and for some weird reason my foreground and background colors have reversed. Every time I try to pick a foreground color with the eyedropper it rather picks the background and vice versa. How do I fix this? Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Chris,
You are the man! I've been using PS since version 2, I believe, and I never knew about that. No question is dumb but the one not asked, so I'm glad I did. Thanks for the help.

  • FW CS3 Color Picker: Locking Up Computer!

I am using FW CS3 on two different VISTA computers: 1 Quad
AMD 2.5Ghz w/6Gb RAM and the other a Dual 1.6Ghz with 2Gb RAM, also
AMD. All updates for Windows and Adobe have been applied.
Periodically when using the color picker within the
Properties section, the computer will completely lock up. It
happens on both computers and I do not recall it ever happening on
    previous versions of FW.
Has anyone else experienced this or am I going crazy? If you
have had this happen, is there a workaround?
Thanks in advance for any info!

    Hello,
The exact same thing happens to me with Fireworks CS3 and
Visa operating system - everything is updated.
This same question was asked and responded to here:

I followed the suggestion, (deleting the Preferences file),
but it did not solve the problem.
I will continue to watch for replies to your topic. So... you
    are not going crazy alone.

  • Photoshop Color Picker Problem ... please read!

    Hi
I just installed Photoshop. When I try to choose a color, the colors are all messed up. I set the color mode to RGB and it still happens. The problem is that white appears light green. In the color picker, I see green fading to red fading to black.
It is not a monitor problem. All shades of grey (including white) show up in every other program - including the actual Photoshop application. It just happens in the color picker, and any shape or object I draw that is white, grey, or black.
    Here is an image:

    How can I fix this?
    Thanks
    Elliott

It's not a monitor problem, it's a monitor profile problem. The other mentioned apps are not color managed and do not use the monitor profile. Recalibrate but if you're using an eyeball type calibrator, do not use your existing profile as a starting point. Use a different monitor profile or even sRGB as a starting point. Harware calibration devices and programs do not need to do this as they clear the existing profile automatically.

  • Color picker problems

I began having this problem in Leopard, (am now on Lion):  My color picker does not function - at all.  I can retrieve the color inspector, but the dropdown menu of the colors is non-functioning, I cannot select or use the magnifying glass feature.  (Its almost like the whole thing is just frozen, or sits there).
I've noticed "NSColorPicker.plist" in connection with this, however, on searching my computer for this, it does not show - wonder if I may have deleted it?)  I've also run the Color Utility twice, doesn't seem to help.
    Any ideas??

That's the intended behavior (clicking on one of the white squares sets your current color to that color).
To add a color to the array of colors, drag its icon from the top down onto one of the array of squares. (I'm pretty sure it's always been like this).;-)
Bonus tip: when the RGB or similar sliders are showing, hold down the Option key and click to the left or right of the slider button to increase or decrease the color in increments of one.
    Hope this helps....

  • Photoshop CS3: Color Picker Issue

    Hello All,
I am having a bit of an issue with my Color Picker.
As you know, when you open up the Color Picker, it has the large square with the assortment of colors on the left and the details of the color on the right.
As of today, Photoshop won't let me use my cursor to click and select a color from within that large square. Nor can I scroll up and down the rainbow color strip on the side.
Is there a way to get those features back?
    Thanks in advance.

Try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • Mysterious Color Picker problem

    Hello,
I'm a webdesigner and use in my programms the OS X Color Picker. Now there is a big problem.
I'm writing in the CSS "background-color: #FF0000" and then pick the color with the Color Picker out of the website. The result is "#FF0009". That's really strange and I've no idea how to solve the Problem.
I hope somebody can help me.
    Thanks

I've changed the Gamme at 2,2. This was the problem.

  • Color picker problem?

ok when i go to comp>layer>soild and i click eyedropper the box where i want to pick my color dont pop up it wants me to pick a color off my computer -_- how can i change that?

That's the way the eye-dropper works. If you want to use the color picker click on the color sample right next to it.
Sounds like you need to start with the Basics.

  • CS6 Color Picker Problem

Hi guys. I don't know what happened but my color picker now looks like this:

    Thanks.

The color gradation isn't as smooth as it should be. I thought it was obvious in the picture.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 Brush / Color Picker Problem

    Hello,
I have been using Photoshop Elements 9 for more than a year, and recently I have been experiencing a glitch/malfunction of some sort with the color picker and hard mechanical brush tool.
As you can see in my example above, there are two things wrong: 1.) When the brush is painted, little grey crescents appear between the individual strokes of the brush. These appear even when I do not release the mouse button when painting. However, it only happens on a specific layer, and not on any other layer - in this case the layer entitled 'skin'.
The second malfunction is the color picker/foreground and background colors. As you can see, the foreground color selected in the example does not match the last color I painted (color splotch to the far left). The color that was actually painted was a far more saturated version of the selected color. Again, this only occurs on the 'skin' layer as well.
(My brush settings are: Fade: 0 Hue Jitter: 0 Scatter: 0 Spacing: 1 Hardness: 100)
Though these "glitches" are occurring often recently, I have found a temporary solution. Switching to another layer, then painting on it, then switching back to the malfunctioning layer seems to temporarily rid me of this issue. Yet and still, I would appreciate any permanent solution suggestions.
    Thanks,
    - Illustrator

Delete the editor's preferences: quit it, then restart it (use the button in the welcome screen or organizer) while holding down ctrl+alt+shift. Keep the keys down till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.

  • Font Colors & Color Picker Problem

Why won't the color picker change my font color?  It has worked for months and today it won't.
[Title Edited for clarity - Hunt]

Reset the tool. In v11 & v12 it is at the right of the Tool Options panel at the bottom - a down arrow next to four horizontal lines. In earlier versions at the left of the tool options at the top of the screen.

  • Photoshop CS3 Color Range Problem

I am having an issue with the color range selection tool in Photoshop CS3 on an iMac G5 running Snow Leopard.
I've been using this tool for years and it's always worked properly until now. It no longer selects the color I've picked with the eyedropper. The only time it works properly is when I set the image to grayscale mode. In any other mode, it selects erratically, like the image below. Those are clean rectangles I created with the paint bucket, so I'm not sure where the lines selected in the Color Range view are coming from. Adjusting
"Fuzziness" doesn't help. The image is set to 8bits. Any ideas?
I've tried using the color range on another computer with the same settings and it works fine.

Is the Eyedropper Tool set to Current Layer in the Options Bar?
If nothing else helps you can always try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed).

  • Properties Color Picker in Fireworks CS4 no longer picks up color

I upgraded to OS Lion yesterday and this morning have noticed that the color picker in the Properties pane at the bottom of the screen no longer works. I will only change colour if I select one from the swatch but not from an element on the page. I can only cahnge to another colour by manually entering the Hex code. This is incredibly time-consuming, for all sorts of tasks like changing font colors, color-swap, fill color etc etc.!
Don't know if the OS upgrade has anything to do with it but it's the only thing that changed on my computer since yesterday.
Does anybody have any ideas how I can get around this or if there is aosme other setting I can change to get it to work again?? Thanks!

That sounds awful. I did a quick search for this, and apparently Color Picker problems in FW CS4 on Lion are a "known issue". This page has a couple of official Adobe links related to Creative Suite/Lion compatibility:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/oobe/2011/07/lion-tamers.html
Also, I found this forum posting. Have you tried using the Color Palette panel instead? Or the Color Mixer?

  • Color picker does not pick correct colors

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 with pre-installed PS Touch. Has anyone else noticed how the color picker doesn't always pick correct colors? In my case, it picks a slightly darker color than the source color. I wanted to upgrade to version 1.3 to resolve this, but cannot find any upgrade option anywhere. Please help!

This screenshot is of a normal layer at opacity 100%. I first did a uniform color fill, then sampled the color. Every area of color, therefore, ought to be exactly the same, without any slight variation whatsoever.
The two brushstrokes to the left are done with the brush hardness set at 20%, with no pressure related controls, the left-most one set at 20%opacity, and the one to the right of it set to 100% opacity.
The two brushmarks in the middle are done with brush hardness set to 100%, again, no pressure related controls, the leftward one set at 20% opacity, the right at 100 %.
The two to the right are again done with 100% brush hardness, but this time, pressure related opacity control has been enabled. The left is at 20% opacity, the right at 100%.
As you can see, the center of each brushstroke seems to have thecorrect color. So I agree with georg_maximus. It appears that this issue is an opacity related one, rather than a color picker problem.

  • Color picker color does not match object color - CS3

Hi - in RGB Illustrator doc, when I select RGB color in color picker and assign to object, the color in the object is not the same as the color I selected from the color picker.
I think its related to view>>proof colors because if I proof using my LCD monitor colorspace, the color in the object and the color picker match but then they don't match the color in the palettes color box.
But that's a kludge because ultimately I want to proof color onscreen using my color printer profile.
has anyone seen this? Never had this problem with CS2.
    Using CS3 with Leopard.
    Thanks

    Hi,
What you describe we recognized in Photoshop. We solved the issue going to the Paint Bucket Tool.
There you can select e.g. Anti Alias, Contiguous, All Layers. With selecting (ticking) the option 'All Layers' the problem was solved. The options Anti Alias and Contiguous were already selected.
    Good luck!!!
