PS CS3 images far more red than Camera Raw 4.6

Consistently when opening images in Photoshop CS3 the image as viewed in PS and LR 3.6 is considerably redder than in Camera Raw 4.6 and the Save-for-Web image displayed in Firefox. I principally want my images to be suitable for print media but want then to display properly on the web. Various screenshots attached. My proof setup is set to the monitor icc file. Monitor is a LaCuie 321 calibrated using LaCie Blue Eye. What do I trust? Any input much appreciated.

i am pretty sure Windows Print Screen function embeds its default monitor profile (your posted images don't contain a profile so either you opened/resaved them w/o the profile or i am wrong) perhaps a Windows user can let us know if Windows screenshots contain an embedded monitor profile
embedding the profile is desirable because it will show us what you are seeing
i suspect you have Photoshop Edit> Color Settings> Color Management Polices 'broken' for lack of a better term
for now, try these settings: 3 Preserve Embedded Profiles and 3 Ask checked boxes, quit and reopen Photoshop
that will alert you to any profile mismatches and may expose at lease one of the problems
then run another test to see if Photoshop displays a Profile Mismatch warning when Ps opens your raw document from ACR
if Ps does hit a warning, the correct move will be Use embedded profile

How to add extra options for style of images in pages.   iPad version has far more options than Mac version

Thank you, you made me go look again and I realised the ones I use on the iPad are under Borders not style and they are on Mac also.  I feel a bit silly but I wouldn't have got there without your prompting.  Do you mean by "create your own"  using the borders and then saving as a style or can you create something that is not in either?
    Thanks again

  • Image from LR in blown out more in Bridge Camera Raw

    Hello, thanks for reading...
I was just about to post this question, when I think I stumbled upon the answer, but I am not sure... so I decided to post anyway, for input.
After completing adjustments to my .cr2 (Canon 30D) images in LR 2.2, I decided to check my images in Bridge (CS2) Camera Raw, since my client uses that program. The highlights in my images are definitely more blown out than they appear in LR. I determined this by viewing the image with the highlight clipping turned on, and could see much more clipping in Camera Raw. I have turned off automatic tone adjustments in Camera Raw preferences. I am on an 2.4 ghz Intel iMac running 10.5.6, 4 gb ram.
What I finally noticed is that in the Camera Raw "work flow options" I had sRGB EIC61966-1 selected as the color space. When I switched it to ProPhotoRGB, the clipping was nearly identical to LR clipping. My client goes to print in Adobe1998, but that color space setting showed more clipping than LR. With ProPhotoRGB being the LR space, is this causing problems for my client?
I will be the first to admit that the topic of color space confuses me... any suggestions? (Besides the obvious, "read a book/ take a class/ suffer like the rest of us" suggestions...)
    Thanks again, Jerry

    Most welcome, and good luck.
If you do not get help in the Bridge Forum (do not know who the MOD's are there), please do not hesitate to ask that the post be Moved, to say the Adobe Camera RAW (ACR), or Photoshop Forum. That is easy for a MOD to do.
However, in your specific case, I could see three likely candidates for the post.
Still, Bridge Forum is a great place, and you should get help quickly. If not, just let one of us know, as we stand ready to help you, best we can.

  • Opening image in photoshop automatically launches camera raw?

When I drag and drop an image into Photoshop, the image is automatically opened in Camera Raw. I don't want this and this didn't happen before. Why is this and where can I turn it off?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    M.

Found the solution - Photoshop > Preferences > Camera Raw… > JPEG and TIFF Handling > JPEG: Disable JPEG support.

  • How do you open more than one image at a time in Camera Raw?

We used to be able to select more than one image from a folder and process one after the other in camera raw. Now we can only do one at a time. Is there a secret keyboard short-cut to allow this still?

Which operating system are you using?
One should still be able to open multiple files into camera raw.
Camera raw files. tiffs and jpegs.
If in the pse 13 Editor in the Expert mode you go to File>Open in Camera Raw, you aren't able to open more than one file into camera raw?

  • Mv log contains far more records than would expect - anybody any idea why?

    Hi there,
We have created some mv logs with fast refresh in mind

    TABLESPACE "TABLESPACE_NAME"
WITH ROWID, SEQUENCE ( "DIMENSION_KEY" ) INCLUDING NEW VALUES
However getting far more mv log records than expect.
e.g. at start no records in mv log, run a mapping , later check via minus operator what records insertde/updated in the dimension, say 50 recods in total, I would expect 50 records in the mv log.
However getting far far more,e.g several records for a dimension_key.
    Why is this?
Is our mv log definition wrong. dimesnion_key is the primary_key?
    Any advice, much appreciated.

  • Images looks darker in Adobe Camera Raw than in Photoshop

when I open a raw image in adobe camera raw at 16 bit Adobe RGB and don't make any adjustments in acr when I then bring it into Photoshop is looks softer contrast and lighter.

    James Bechdel wrote:
I think I solved it. Every place I could change to Adobe RGB I did
Er...I don't really think that solves anything. But you may succeed in temporarily hiding the problem.
You do have PS color management policies at "preserve embedded profiles", right? As long as you do, there's no particular need to synchronize PS / ACR / Lr color settings, any source profile should be honored anywhere.
The reason Adobe RGB works as monitor profile is because it's a known good, not corrupt, profile - not because it's the same as a document profile somewhere. Those two are not supposed to be the same. But for a wide gamut monitor it's close enough to work for diagnostic purposes.
NEC Spectraview is a solid and reliable calibrator. But that doesn't help if the OS doesn't load the profile correctly.
One gotcha with Spectraview (and Eizo Colornavigator) is that it's so easy to switch calibration target and the associated monitor profile. That's fine, but you also need to relaunch any color managed application that happens to use the monitor profile. That profile is loaded by the application at startup, and it will continue to use it even if it's changed at system level.

  • Help needed from someone far more clever than me.

I'm trying to update the software on my e71 using Nokia software updater.
Everything seemed to be running smoothly. My software was being updated from 100.something to 110.something.
Then, as it was finishing my computer screen kept flashing up the message...
"A new USB device has been detected...
    Nokia USB ROM
And then it asks me whether I want to connect the device to my Mac or the Virtual machine (I'm doing this via parallels on my mac).
This message flashes on and off intermittently, and it doesn't matter whether you click the 'virtual machine button'.
The download bar sticks and the information given is that it will downoad in 15 mins.
I have tried rebooting the computer, the phone. Nothing is working. It's very frustrating. Most frustrating of all, as the programme is still running it won't let me quit so I have to force quit the whole machine.
    Any help gratefully received.
    Thankyou.

Hey Rabi, we're you suggesting that the phone should be in offline mode whilst doing an upgrade? Why is that?
If he did, he's incorrect. Instructions say specifically that the phone must be in "General" profile.
As for N96 firmware updates, they're more often than not going to be by FOTA, which removes the need for a computer altogether. When I updated from 10.065 to 11.018, I did so by FOTA, but 11.018 to 11.101 was using NSU (and it failed first time round, too). Had I waited, I could have done that update by FOTA as well.

  • Canon CR2 raw images are forcibly cropped by Camera Raw

I posted this on the Photoshop Discussion as I did not realise that Camera Raw has its own - sorry folks!
Camera raw is cropping my cr2 images even after I have removed the crop in DPP (Digital Photo Professional - Canon's own raw editing software). I have many images cropped by a Canon 5D3 as it forces a 16:9 crop when you take a still while in video mode. The rest of the data is in the raw file, but this is not read by Camera Raw which forces the 16:9 crop. I have removed the crops in DPP, and even re-cropped with a different crop, saved the files and used every way I can imagine to get them into PS short of turning them into tiffs. I do not want to save as a tiff, as I really like the tools in PS Raw, especially the exposure tool (I am no great photographer but I have some very special and irreplaceable pics form fieldwork overseas which are ahem errr not quite correctly exposed).
My ideal worflow is open folder in DPP - star rate the pics I want to work on. crop them (nice to do this in DPP as it is part of the selection process) then get them into Camera Raw without any more effort, then if an image can be tweaked - do it as a Raw, if it needs more work - get it into PS6 as a tiff and go from there. This seems to minimise effort and minimise file space, at the expense of having two different file types.
Does anyone else work like this, or is there a better way to review 300 similar pics and get the best selected and processed? Has anyone else encounteres this refusal of Camera Raw to ignore the camera's crop? I bleive that there is a plug-in for lightroom, does anyone know a work around for PS  - I have PS6 with raw 7.3.
    Thanks
    Gor

Oh can I, thanks . I couldn't see a way to open a tiff in ACR - It only opens when I drag a Raw image into ps6, and it has no file>open to allow me to open a tiff.  In fact it is a rather strange piece of software - it doesn't seem to exist on its own (not as part of production suite anyway).
This would be a work-around for sure if you could tell me how to do it??
    UPDATE
FOr anyone else with this problem you can force ps6 to open all tiffs in ACR with a setting in preferences in RAW - automatically open all tiffs. It is still a bit of a pain as i dont really want to automatically open them all, but hey!

  • Random problem opening RAW images from I-photo into Camera Raw 4.1

Hi there, sometimes when I double click an RAW .NEF image in i-photo it opens into the Camera Raw adjustement window and sometimes not. This is shots from the same shoot and they're all definitely .NEF files. The shots that have already opened always open in the CR window and the others don't.
Any ideas? This is driving me crazy!
I'm running Photoshop CS3 on a quad core intel Mac.

    Max,
Very few people here use iPhoto, if any.

  • Image Skips when Returning from Camera Raw to Bridge

    Hi Folks
When I finished editing my image in Camera Raw and returned to Bridge I could immediately view my edits in the Bridge preview window. As it took about a second to update I could see the unedited image and then the updated edited image. Happy with that!
Now, when I return to Bridge I do not get the image I have just been working on in Camera Raw in the preview window as before, it jumps to the next image which is a bit of a pain, because I have to keep going back to the previous image.
May I kindly ask if anyone knows whether this is a setting somewhere in Bridge / Camera Raw and how I can get to it, or have any idea why this is happening. any information would be gratefully received.
Thanking you in advance for your anticipated help!

As has often and repeatedly been discussed in the Adobe Bridge Macintosh forum, Bridge 2.x (that comes with CS3) is easily the worst piece of software that has ever been released by Adobe—or any other major software developer.
Bridge 3.x (with CS4) was better.  I have no experience with Bridge in CS5.
If you're staying with CS3, at least make sure that you have updated to version 2.1.1.9.

  • Photoshop cs4 opens images black and only in camera raw

I'm running Photoshop cs4 on a pc. Recently, it began having 2 issues. First, it started opening everything into Bridge Camera Raw instead of just opening the image itself. Next issue is that when I attempt to open an image from Camera Raw, it opens black. I can see the image is there in a layer, but the working screen is black. Every once in a while it will open normally. This is with all images, no matter what size the are.

On a Mac I don't know which directory it should be in.
Camera Raw preferences: Bridge: menu Adobe Bridge/ Camera Raw preferences.
Inhere you can set the wished behavior for tiff. By default it shows tiffs
only in ACR when you choose to do so with right mouse click menu (open in
Camera Raw) or if the Tiff had earlier been altered in ACR, then it opens
automatically in ACR unless you choose not to do so.

Why does the image quality seem to get worse in Elements 11 once the image is opened up after editing from Camera RAW?  The image looks great in the RAW screen, then once opened in Photo editor it seems pixelated, smooth lines look jagged.  Is it something I am doing wrong?
