PS CS3 No workspace appears after launching app
After launching PS CS3 no workspace appears on screen only toolbars, etc. After reading other posts on forums about problems with other newer versions it says to turn on "application frames." But I can't find anything like that in pull down menus. And when I try to click on "Open" PS crashes. I have a PowerBook G4 (don't laugh) 10.5.8 and PS CS3 10.0.1. Thanks in advance.
Susan,
We need to know exactly how much RAM you have and exactly what you have your monitor resolution set to.
If you have less than 2GB of RAM, forget it; I know the ReadMe file says you need a minimum of 512 MB, but that's unrealistic. It's enough for Photoshop CS3 to launch, but not to work comfortably and consistently. The monitor resolution should be at least 1024x768.
20 GB of available disk space in practice is marginal for the Mac OS X swap files (especially in case of one of the Leopards) to share with Photoshop's Scratch Disk. I'm not surprised you're crashing. Just for reference, I have a separate, dedicated internal 160 GB hard drive just for Photoshop's Scratch Disk alone.
Also, any time a hard drive—any hard drive—approaches 80% used space, you're in deep trouble already.
With a bigger boot drive or making much more space available in your current one, an external hard drive as Photoshop scratch disk, maximizing your RAM to as much as the machine will take (if it takes at least 2GB) and downgrading to Tiger 10.4.11, your G4 PowerBook should run CS3 just fine.
If CS4 ran on Panther, I would even downgrade to it from Tiger; I have no use for Spotblight and the Dashboard anyway and have permanently disabled both. In the case of Leopard, If I were ever to run it, I would disable the massively intrusive Time Machine and Spaces as well.
That's my personal opinion based on equally personal experience.
Good luck.

Safari Does Not Appear After Launch After Extended Period Before Logging In
Dell Dimension E521
Windows XP Pro (all updates installed)
I restart the computer, and then I log into my user account immediately. I launch Safari (5.0.2). It launches and operates properly.
I restart the same computer, and then I log into my user account thirty or more minutes later. I launch Safari. There is no apparent Safari activity, except for the hour glass. Safari never appears onscreen, nor does the Safari icon appear in the task menu at the bottom of the screen. If I subsequently launch another application, then Safari appears behind it. Safari runs properly thereafter.
In the second scenario, if I launch other applications instead of Safari, then they appear onscreen and run properly. Safari seems to be the only application that displays this behavior.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Can anyone recommend a solution?
Thank you.
Kurt TodoroffBy the way, can Windows place a computer into hibernation or sleep if a user is not logged in, since those settings have not yet been loaded?
It's a good question ... I was doing some reading up on BIOS before posting before, and there is some sign that BIOS or EFI can load some power management settings.
An alternate possibility is that the PC is in S0 (awake) while in that 30 minute period, but some individual devices on the PC may have slept:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa373229(VS.85).aspx
... and running Safari might not be waking up, say, the network adaptor properly.
I guess if that is the case, it might be possible to test it ... if you launch a different web browser (like IE) immediately after the "delayed log-ins", will Safari launch immediately for you if you launch it after launching the other browser? -
Launchpad icons change size after launching app?
For some reason, whenever I launch apps on Launchpad, the icon sizes seem to change. I screenshotted the icons, and especially for Pocket Planes (which has a squarish icon) I found the difference. Before it was 83x81, after launching the app it is 83x87. I have included four examples.

before afterHi Isla,
I had same problem after update from 10.7 to 10.7.2 and upper versions.
one way I know and working for me is just replace Dock executable file inside Dock.app package with old version.

Dialogue "Choose Application" After Launching App.
Hi
For a long long time I've had a problem where with some applications upon launching them I get a dialogue which says "Choose Application" in the title bar and then below that it says "Where is [Name of App]?". This dialogue box has the window for navigating the Finder (like an Open dialogue) and there is a button on bottom right with the word "Choose" on it. I have had a solution which is to find the application and then "choose" and that solves the problem it seems for that particular application.
However there is one application which presents this problem and I cannot solve it by that method. The application is 1Password, in particular the plugin on the web browser which, when invoked, will bring up this dialogue. I have taken this up with 1Password and they have recommended I reinstall my browser plugin, which I had already done. However I don't think the problem is with 1Password, it is something odd about my OS. Amazingly the same problem is on my MacBook Pro and my Mac Pro.
I used the Onyx utility to rebuild Launch Services thinking that might help, but it has made no difference.
I would be grateful for any suggestions as to a solution.
I have Mavericks OS 10.9.5 on both computers.
Thank you.Susan,

Play video directly after launch app
Which code do I have to use in the AppDelegate so when I launch the app, a video will directly begin to play after the launch image?
Thanks a lot!You indictaed that I should repost in the correct forum. To the best of my knowledge, this was the best suited forum for my issue. So if you want this posting to be placed in a different forum, then suggest you post it into the forum you would like it to be. Now you take care... and have a good day.

Language Bar appears when launching apps on RD Client on iOS devices
When using the RD Client app on iOS devices to launch programs from a Remote Resource Feed we always get a language bar appearing on the screen. The language bar doesn't appear when using RemoteApp from a PC or if I login into the server directly, only when
using the iOS app.
The language bar also shows the default language as English US which is not the default. In Language screen in Control Panel we only have English UK listed. The Welcome screen and New user setting is also all set to English UK, the only place I can see English
US is in the Override Windows display language drop down menu in the Advanced Settings.
I am assuming the language bar is showing because it some how thinks English US is the default but not sure how to remove this. The language on the iOS devices are also English UK.
I have tried re-creating profiles and also actually adding the English US keyboard then removing it but neither worked.
The RemoteApp server is Windows 2012 R2.
Any help/ideas appreciated, thanks.Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Please try following script to control and hide the language bar.
You can also control the language bar by using a logon script to set the ShowStatus value. Here is a sample script to disable the language bar:
Dim WshShell
Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
WshShell. RegWrite" HKCU\Software\Microsoft\CTF\LangBar\ShowStatus", 3, "REG_DWORD"
Also can try to create following registry setting.
Hide Language Bar:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\LangBar]
“ShowStatus”=dword:00000003

ITunes app on iPad crashes immediately after launch, App Store app opens
I know that Ping isn't going to be available to be available until 4.2, but I the iPad iTunes app is still supposed to do something other than redirect to the App Store app right? Is anyone else experiencing this behavior? I've seen other reports of iPad iTunes app crashing under certain conditions, so perhaps this is related to that, I really don't know.
Do I need to restore my device? Will this simply be a non-issue when 4.2 rolls out?
MB292LL 3.2.2 (7B500)
Thanks for your help.
-PatHi retepppank69,
I have exactly the same problem. I had called AppleCare and told this problem. They say to me instantly that the best way is to exchange the iPad directly.
Today I sent to Apple my iPad and waiting now for the new iPad. -
App installs but crashes after launching
I installed an application - a driver for a 3G mobile usb modem - onto my MPB and my wife's identical MBP. On my computer it works fine, but on hers it crashes shortly after launching. The Problem Report gives the info pasted below (there's a lot more but this appeared to be the most important data since it came first. The modem support people haven't heard of this happening before. I think it's the Mac problem since the installation works fine on the other MBP.
The app is actually a driver which launches a simple interface to work with the modem. When it launches, it opens and presents a small screen into which I type a PIN for the modem. It then opens a bigger screen with settings for the modem. That is when the problem occurs on one machine - the bigger second screen opens for about 5 seconds then the whole app quits with no signs or warnings.
Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Additional and subsequent info:
I just checked permissions on both machines for this app and on my MBP the permissions are "system: Read & Write / wheel: Read only / everyone: Read only" whereas on the problem installation the permissions are totally different!: "aewr (my wife's username): Read & Write / admin: Read & Write / everyone: Read & Write".
How come these are so different! And how can I make then the same??? I've reinstalled the app several times and once even copied it lock stock and barrel from my MBP to the other one, but same result. Did permissions repair on the problem machine too but the permissions I've quoted are the result (don't know what the permissions were beofre the repair but it wasn't working then either).
Many thanks.
Message was edited by: PaulWR - Added permissions info.I don't have an exact answer for you, but can provide some thoughts. First, a bus error is typically indicative of a bug in application code; the program is trying to access memory that can't be addressed (that's a typical cause, anyway). So I'd immediately suspect this 3G driver, which presumably is named Mobile Connect as identified by the kernel.
There's a thread here:
http://forum.huawei.com/jive4/thread.jspa?threadID=322226
that implies that only 10.5.2 is supported by this device at this time. Are you certain that 10.5.3 is supported with your device? Perhaps it's a fluke that it is working on your machine... -
Apps won't open, or crash after launch
OK so I updated to OS X 10.9.1 and since then, my Adobe Apps won't open, or they crash after launch.
Photoshop CC for instance opens, then immediately crashes with a crash report. On the other hand, Illustrator simply doesn't even open. No crash report.
I'm on a 2009 Mac Pro 8 Core 2.93Ghz with a non-efi nVidia GeForce 660Ti GPU. It's been working like a charm until 10.9.1.
I also tried logging out then in again with Creative Cloud. First time I did this, Photoshop simply stopped crashing, and simply refused to load like Illustrator. After a reboot, Photoshop is back to crashing.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I'm unable to finish my projects currently.

THe mail app on my ipad 2 quits right after launching. This happened as I was forwarding an email with a long attachment. Now I get a blank screen with just the icons, no mail mailboxes etc. after a few seconds that blank screen disappears and we go back to the starter screen. I tried rebooting, relaunching but no luck so far. Can somebody help me? Thanks
Hans VHave you tried removing the email account from the app through settings? I would try removing it, rebooting, opening the email app to see if it still crashes, & then adding it back your email account.
If you're leary about causing more issues while you're not home, you could always try using a third party mail app (there are many), accessing your email through it...not a fix for your problem but a way to deal with the situation until you can get it worked out.
Resetting all settings on the iPad (not deleting content) is a good way to clear many errors as it can remove leftover cache files & files that have become corrupt.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good luck & let us know if you get it working. -
I recently purchased adobe creative cloud after upgrading to windows 8.1 pro on my labtop and desktop. I installed the apps on my desktop 1st and had no problems. The apps on my laptop however crash after launch. I have uninstalled and re installed them and have signed out and back in a number of times. Why won't they work?
>recently upgraded my operating system to 8.1 pro... and a 1 GB ATI radeon
OK... this is NOT about Cloud programs, but it IS about ATI and Win8.1 and a specific program not working with ANY driver I could find for the ATI card in my wife's computer http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1318710
After talking (email) with the advisor at the software company, I have ordered an nVidia card which will replace the ATI card she now has
I have NO idea if your problem is the same/similar... but that is what I am doing so she can get the latest Win8.1 updates -
How do I retore app icons to screen after IO6 update? They now appear only in App store list
Go to iTunes, click on Apps in the left window, to bring up your app library. Then click on "check for updates" in the right window, bottom corner. If there are any updates available, you'll be notified of the number and you'll have to choose the apps you want to update in the next screen shown, or update them all at once after filling in your password.
You can also click on one app in the library and choose "get info" to see the actual version saved in your library. -
Inapropriate apps appear after updates are done
I need help! I was looking through my son's (11) iPod touch recently and there were apps on there that were not purchased. My kids don't know the iTunes password, so all purchases have to be approved by me or my husband. These apps seemed to appear after an update was done. They are NOT appropriate for an 11 year old. I can't simply delete them because when you press and hold the icon, no 'X' appears for these apps. I'm very concerned that some apps in iTunes are not legit because this doesn't seem right. Can anyone help me remove them???
- The App and iTunes store is ste up so that there is a ten minute window to download something after the passwared for an update or purchse has been made. From your dscription, it appeared that that happened.
- It also appears that you have restrictions set that prohibit deleting apps. Go to Setings>General>Restrictions. You have to enter the passcode to change them.
- Look at the apps on the iPod. if there is one named Cycia, it means that the iPod had been jailbroken and that apps can be installed by means other than the App store. -
I got photoshop elements 12 from apple app store, after launch , no organize (album). How do I import , export pictures?
Did you buy the Editor only version? Here's the product comparison - Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 - Buying guide.
[EDIT] Actually it seems you can ONLY buy the Editor only version via the App Store. Here's an explanation why (scroll down to the fourth section) - Purchases through Mac App Store FAQ.[/EDIT]

All adobe app crash after launch!
Hi I just installed all the apps and photoshop, dreamweaver, fireworks crashes after launch. I tried this several times http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/cc-applications-crash-immediately-launch.html and still got the same problem.
I have been reading about this bug in this forum but I can't try to find any solution to my problem.
How do I solve this?
RegardsBeeldbroeder and simO please check your installation log files to confirm there are no errors during the installation process. You can find details on how to locate and interpret the installation log files at Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html.
