PS CS3: Opened up 63 images at once. Now PS is slow to open up 1 image at a time.

Well, I just reinstalled Mac OS X to try and solve some issues I was having. It was less of a hassle than I thought it would be. Solved the problems I was having with Illustrator. Everything was running fantastic.
But, I was just working in Photoshop, opening about ~20-30 small PNG's (from 4kb to 50kb) at a time to resize, grayscale, etc. I opened up 63 PNGs at once to make things go quicker. They all opened up, with a bit of lag. Now, if I even try to open up 1-5 PNG's at a time, they open very slow. Saving, and editing the images are quick and responsive. It's just opening the files that gives me a slowdown.
Is there anyway to reset some memory settings? Or clear some cache? I believe this is what caused my issues with Illustrator before (opening too many files at once.)

No. I don't worry about things that are non-problems. The only time I find a need to run DW is when I begin to have noticeable issues and that's very rare. I never had a need when using Tiger when this machine was new, nor have I needed to with Leopard - that's about a 3-year span.

For giggles, I ran the graph procedure a few days ago and obtained a reading of

noticeable difference in performance (which is exactly what I expected).
DiskWarrior is great and has saved me many times over the years. I've recommended it to countless friends and coworkers and I'm never without the current version. However, there's just no point in running it constantly and there's certainly no need to adopt a regimen to run it after every install - major or otherwise. It may make you feel better, but it's simply a placebo.

Hi Everyone
First post and a Muse / Web Noob.
Im building my personal website with muse ( CC and now CC 2014 ) , its quite simple with slideshows embedded inside each other and is just 4 pages in total.
My two slideshow pages appears to load all images at once making it very slow ( plus 20 secs on my system ). Is it possible to force it to load just the required items for the immediate page / slide. It would be so much faster and would work much better in this particular situation.
Ive built all the images and icons at the correct size so optimisation shouldn't be an issue. The whole site is only about 42mb.

Oh well the problem seems to have fixed itself. It seems it was either a Java or Tumblr problem because the same thing happened when I installed Chrome. It is a lot more stable now and no more crashes yay.

Opened newer version on Home Share, now my iPhoto won't open

My wife opened my iPhoto to copy over some pictures on her computer, using iLife09. Now whenever I try to log into my own iPhoto library, from my own computer, it says that I do not have the latest version of iPhoto and won't open. How can I fix this so I can get into my own library again?

You really have only three options:
1. Upgrade your iPhoto to the same version as hers.
or
2. Restore your Library from your back up
or
3. Recover the photos from the Library and start over from scratch.

Report slow to open in Crystal

Some of my reports are very slow to open in Crystal Reports 2011. It can take up to a minute for a report to open.
Once the report opens, generating data is quick.
Consequently reports are slow to open in the Crystal viewer within my application as well.
It does not happen with all reports, any suggestions as to the cause or some solutions to try.

Moved to the SDK forum.
Any reason is you may have the Verify Database options checked on. Or it could be your report is looking for the printer in the report across your domain.
Typically though if the Verify is checked on a one minute time out happens for ODBC data sources if the DSN is not available.
So need more info:
What version of CR Designer are you using?
What SDK and version are you using?

Photoshop CS3 Slow to Open Images

I've just converted to win7 and have PS CS3 installed. When I do an update check, there are no updates for photoshop available, so I believe I'm current. If I open an image jpg via the file menu, or bridge, or using ACDSee, the image files (or files) are slow to open. If can usually see a message up in the photoshop title bar (where the logo is followed by "Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended") where it will briefly say "not responding". This started with going to win7. It will take 20 seconds or more to open a jpg and these are not giant files.
Under Options/Performance, I've indicated to Let Photoshop use 1194MB which is the top of the ideal range. The range that photoshop indicates as ideal never changes, no matter whether photoshop is running alone or with other apps. I've indicated scratch disks on my E and C drives, with E being the first listed. E have over 500 gb of free space and C has over 190gb free. History states are 20 and cache is 6. GPU settings for my NVidia GE Force 8800 video card has enable 3D acceleration checked.
I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to optimize. I never had this problem in vista using CS3.

This is a known bug and has been reported many times in the forum.
The solution, weird as it sounds, is to make a generic printer driver your default printer.

It's very easy to make an action.
Go to window > actions
In the actions panel, simply click the 'create a new action' button, it starts recording as soon as you've created it (when you've given it a name).
Now you can apply the changes you want to make to the images on the file you have opened.
After you've done all you need to do. You click the 'stop' button. The action is now ready to use. And you can apply the changes you made on all the other files.
Then you can continue how gener7 explained.
I usually include a save and close command, so that the whole batch doesn't end up opened after running the script.
But if you do that you have to create a new file, and save it to your computer before you start recording the action, otherwise the save command will be replaced by each file. And you'll end up with one edited file in the end. At least for as far as I know!

Need still image export in QT Pro 7.7 that opens in Photoshop CS6

Using Quicktime 7.7 Pro I export a still image from an .avi movie file and choose movie to picture. In options, I am given a choice of various formats including jpeg and png. But, the file extension still says .pct no matter what format option is chosen.
I discovered today when I upgraded my old photoshop CS3 to CS6 that .pct format is no longer supported in the new version of Photoshop CS6. ( Ouch. )
How can I export a still image in Quicktime Pro 7.7 so that it is readable in the Photoshop CS6?

Basically you can't. As you noted above, the QT 7 Pro option only exports a PCT file (the legacy system image file format) using your choice of compression.
You could, however, try any of a number of other options:
1) You can drag the current frame in your QT 7 Pro player to the desktop which should create a single-frame "Movie Clipping" file in the same format as your video video file. This file may or may not open directly in your updated version Photoshop as it does in my older version.
2) Another possibility would be to use the Command-C keyboard shortcut to copy the current image in the QT 7 Pro player to the clipboard and then open Photoshop and create "New" file in Photoshop using the clipboard image dimensions. When the new empty file window opens, you can use the Command-V shortcut to paste the clipboard image to the window. On my system this creates a default PSD image. The major disadvantage of this approach is that if the original file was encoded anamorphically, then the image is created using the encode dimensions and you have to manually adjust the aspect ratio. (I.e., as opposed to using the work flow described above which recognizes anamorphic files and gives you the option of opening the file automatically in the correct apect.)
2) If the "Movie Clipping" will not open in your version of Photoshop, then it will open in the free MPEG Streamclip app if you have it installed. This app can then export the video frame as a JPEG, TIFF, or PNG image.
3) Another option would be to open the AVI video directly in the MPEG Streamclip, locate the frame you want and export the frame directly from the video file to a JPEG, TIFF, or PNG file as described above.
4) Probably the most used work flow for compatible video is to open the file in the QT X Player, locate the frame you want, use the Command-C shortcut to copy the image to the clipboard as a PNG image which can the be opened from the clipboard in Preview and exported to a desired image file format. Of course, AVI files are frequently "iffy" with QT X depending on the specific video compression format used to create them.
5) You can also use the Finder image capture option to capture the entire QT 7 Player image (or a portion thereof) as a PNG image (with or without a drop shadow) and then open it Photoshop where you can crop the image before performing whatever you want to do in this app.
The are probably other options but this should be enough for you play with at this time.

Leica DNG images slow to open in Bridge

I'm finding that opening Leica DNG files in Bridge is very slow. Once I click on a image in the light table in Bridge it takes several seconds before that image appears in the preview box.And to move from one image to another in the light table is also very slow. I get the dreaded spinning wheel. Also once in a while when I click on an image in the light table I get a black border around the image.
When I click on a image from a Nikon D2X DNG file it appears instantaneously in the preview box and I can move from one image to another without any delay.
Has anyone run into this problem and are there any suggestions to correct the problem?

CS4 images "edit original" now open as jpg instead of in Photoshop

CS4. InDesign 5.0.4. Just upgraded OS to Snow Leopard (10.6) Friday.
Now my images in InDesign no longer open into Photoshop but open as jpgs which means I now have do extra steps of going to Photoshop, finding the image and then opening it.
How do I get back to images opening directly in Photoshop when I click on them in InDesign and then go to edit original? Thank you

Isn't there a step in InDesign to get back to normal like on Friday? There has to be something inside InDesign that must have changed....

I am trying to softproof an image using a CMYK .icc file. I sent an image from LR 5 to PS CC 2014, opened the Camera Raw FIlter, but the hyperlink to access workflow is not showing up in the CR dialogue box... Any ideas why this might be?

Every once in a while when I open my mail or a page I get nothing but strange lines of symbols. Many of the symbols are black triangles with question marks in the center. I completely reset it like new, but problem still exists

A reset does not make tthe iPad "like new."
First, let's ensure that we agree on just what is a Reset...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Firefox will only open once from desktop and won't open new tabs or windows

When I clicked on Firefox's desktop icon this morning it took a solid 5 minutes for the browser window to open, and at that time I just chalked it up to my computer being slow.
Once it did open I soon encountered the first problem: when I clicked on "Open Link in New Window" or "Open Link in New Tab" nothing happened. Subsequently, when I did navigate to a website I was unable to click on any links whatsoever. I closed the window and tried to restart Firefox which is when I ran into the second problem: it wouldn't open. I opened the Task Manager and terminated firefox.exe, attempted to open via both the desktop icon and program folder but had no luck. If I restart my computer I'm able to open just the one browser window but with the same results of the first issue I mentioned.
I've tried all of Mozilla's troubleshooting tips in the "Firefox will not start" section with no luck. I've also uninstalled then reinstalled with no luck.

The program will not open images, either directly or from Bridge. Using Win 7 on a Dell PC.

Itunes wont open after updating. Bounces once in dock?

I just did a long overdue update to latest itunes. Now it wont open, icon in dock bounces once and nothing? I've done disk permissions repair, no chnage. Any suggestions appreciated?

I have a problem when cropping 8 but tiff files in elements 12. Once area is selected and I crop the image it disappears. The file no. sill shows but the image is not viewable. I have saved the file from that point and tries reopening but the image isn't

Has anyone experienced this before ? I have previously been able to crop images with no problem. Recently when I open an image and crop it and confirm the action the image 'disappears' If I save and go to reopen the file is there but it will be zero meg in size.

Try resetting the crop tool.
To the right of the tool option bar, click on the little horizontal lines and you should see reset tool option.
