PS CS3 problems with OS 10.6

How do you turn off "Open with Rosetta" for PS CS3?

First Quit photoshop cs3
In Finder press Go on the menu bar>Applications and in the Adobe Photoshop CS3 folder click on the
Adobe Photoshop CS3.app and either press More Info or Cmd+i.
Then in the Get Info dialog uncheck Open using Rosetta
I notice your other posts say photoshop cs3 won't open after upgrading from 10.4 to 10.6
Do you get any error or crash messages when trying to start photoshop cs3?

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 - Problem with Trial

    I recently downloaded and installed Adobe Photoshop CS3 directly from Adobe as it is the latest version my Mac supports. Upon start up, I am greeted with two options: a) I have a serial number for this product. and b) I want to try Adobe Photoshop CS3 free for 30 days. Seeing how I am simply looking to evaluate and have not purchased said product, I selected option b.
    However, upon clicking "Next >" I am greeted by an error. "Problem with Trial" I am left with nothing but wasted time. This is the first time I have ever installed Adobe Photoshop CS3 so I do not understand why it will only allow access with a serial number. Any help to allow me to try this software is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Could the trial have a time bomb in it that prevents use after several years? There's not much of a need for Adobe to allow trials to run for so long after the product's life cycle has concluded.

  • DW CS3 problem with PNG-8 images in Design View?

    DW CS3 (build 3481) on XP seems to have problems with PNG-8 images, specifically trying to display them in design view.
    I had a very simple image that was able to be exported by Fireworks CS4 as PNG-8 using 4 colors (no transparency) for a tiny file size under 250 bytes.
    DW could not display it at all, or even recognize it, reporting it was 0 x 0 in size. I published the page anyway, and it looked fine in the browser.
    I upped the number of colors to 32, and DW could then display it in design view in the page I was working on.
    I'm still having problems with other PNG-8 images. The attached file "temp.jpg" is a screenshot showing part of the design view in DW.
    The smaller image on the left of the banner is "58_certificate_of_discharge.png" (attached), and the larger image below is used as the background of the DIV containing the form,"compassbk.png" (also attached).
    These images all look fine in the browser, but terrible in DW.
    I'm stumped as to why.
    Thanks in advance.

    According to a different discussion, the images that are stuck as "Queued" are showing a bug in the virus scanning on the forums.
    Now trying the recommended 'camera icon' method...
    Looks like it worked.
    Now compare what it looks like in DW CS3 in the design view:
    It's a 16 color PNG-8 made in Fireworks CS4 with no transparency, size is 113 x 58, ending up at 1.71K.
    If this is a repeatable problem in CS3, is there any hope of it being resolved, or am I stuck with upgrading to CS4 as my only option (assuming it's fixed in CS4)?
    Thanks.

    Greetings...
    I have some strange problems with installation of Dreamweaver
    CS3: when I'm running setup -- it shows "initialization" window and

    What should I do?

  • Dreamweaver CS3 problem with small fonts

    Hello,
    I am having a problem with text appearing
    REALLY SMALL and unreadable in CS3, when it looked fine in
    Dw8. It also looks fine in in all browsers.
    I talked to Adobe tech support, and they said something about
    my CSS file not being correct. I looked at it, and nothing seems
    out of the ordinary.
    If it was a problem with my CSS file, wouldn't it look bad in
    the browser as well?
    Any suggestions?
    Ron

    Ron,
    Thanks for the sample file. This is a bit complicated, so
    please bear
    with me.
    Up until DW8, DW rendering always targeted the most popular
    browser at
    that time. For DW8, that was IE6. Traditionally, the most
    popular
    browser was the most popular because it was the best browser,
    but that
    no longer holds true. So, DW CS3 now targets CSS 2.1. Note
    that DW does
    not support all of the CSS 2.1 spec, but what it does support
    follows
    the spec.
    Your page does not have a DOCTYPE, so it renders in "quirks"
    mode in the
    browsers that I tested it in on WinXP (FF2, IE7, Opera9). DW
    renders
    this page in IE6 quirks mode, but DW CS3 no longer supports
    quirks mode.
    Put a DOCTYPE such as the following in your page to see what
    I mean:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01
    Transitional//EN"
    http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    The reason that the font is so small is because of the
    font-size
    property in this rule:
    TD {
    FONT-SIZE: 80%;
    Your page has tables nested 4 levels deep, so the 80% is
    compounded at
    each level. I fixed this in DW CS3 by creating a style sheet
    with this rule:
    TD { FONT-SIZE: 100% !important; }
    and the applied it as a Design-time Style Sheet, although you
    may be
    able to remove the 80% altogether.
    Hope this helps,
    Randy

  • [JS CS3] Problem with iterating xml tags

    Hello,
    Below is a script that is supposed to find text in a document and then tag it with an xml tag. I have run into a problem, which if I solve in the way I know how, causes another problem.
    When I iterate in a positive direction--i++--the first instance of the text (in this example "abc") is correctly tagged. But the second instance the tag recedes by two characters, that is, tags the three characters prior to the "c." A third instance will recede two more characters, ad nauseam, if my Latin is correct.
    The solution is to iterate backwards, i.e., i--. But this causes another problem. If there is more than one story, then the xml structure reverses the order of the stories. The elements within a story are ordered correctly however.
    So why is this happening and how can I solve it?
    Thanks,
    Tom
    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var findABC = theTextFinder(myDoc,"abc");
    xmlTagIt(myDoc,"abc",UIColors.RED,findABC);
    //*****functions*******
    function xmlTagIt(docRef, tagName,colorOfTag, arrToTag){
        var tagName, colorOfTag,  arrToTag;
        myDoc.xmlViewPreferences.showStructure = true;
        myDoc.xmlViewPreferences.showTaggedFrames =true;
        myDoc.xmlViewPreferences.showTagMarkers = true;
        myDoc.xmlViewPreferences.showTextSnippets =false;
        myDoc.xmlPreferences.defaultStoryTagColor = UIColors.WHITE;
        var rootElement = myDoc.xmlElements.item(0);
        if (myDoc.xmlTags.item(tagName) == null) {
            var tagRef = myDoc.xmlTags.add(tagName, colorOfTag);
      } else {//if tag already exists then stop the script. Avoid double tagging
           myDoc.xmlViewPreferences.showStructure = true;
           alert("You have already run this script.");
           exit();
       }//end else
        //for (var i = arrToTag.length-1; 0 <= i; i--){
        for (var i = 0; i <= arrToTag.length-1;  i++){
            var elementRef = rootElement.xmlElements.add (tagRef,arrToTag[i]);
         }//end for i
    }//end function xmlTagIt
    function theTextFinder(docRef,textFindIt){//last argument is the string of text to find
        app.findTextPreferences = NothingEnum.NOTHING;
        app.changeTextPreferences = NothingEnum.NOTHING;
        app.findTextPreferences.findWhat = textFindIt;
        var arrTextFindIt = myDoc.findText();
        return arrTextFindIt;
    }//end theTextFinder

    Dave,
    Thanks for the reply.
    I'm not sure what you mean by "convert the references on the fly." You mean find a way to advance two characters forward and tag that? In the script I submitted here I am only searching for "abc," which of course I would not search or at all  in real life. The script uses grep to search for about twenty different typographical errors that typically appear and tags them all.
    Reiterating backwards seems, at first sight the way to go. But I haven't a clue as to how to reverse the order of the stories. I can get an array of stories, and array.reverse() them, but am not sure how to then make the script put this reversed order into the xml structure. Any hints?
    There, of course is bigger problem with the stories. If the document is written with one story created after another then the order of them is top to botom. But if say a text frame edited into the middle of all this, that story is still the last one in the xml structure. At least in one test, that was so. Maybe the way to solve this is to build an array of stories that have as one xml attribute the page it first appears on. Then order the array according to that attribute.
    Any advice you give will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Tom

  • [Win/CS3] Problem with tree view nodes display In Release Version of InDesign

    b [Win/CS3]
    Hi All,
    I am Facing a problem from last few days.I have a dialog on which i have a treeview ListBox.I am filling this listBox dynamically.On a Button click Event.
    My requirement is to show Some text value on the node and Index value on the back end.So When i select String1 the index1 should be Selected.
    b This Listbox is working fine ON Debug Version. But Crashing On Release Version.That seems Strange to me..........?????????
    b in DialogObserver::Update on button click event
    NodeID node = IDCGridNodeID::Create(IndexX);
    treeMgr->NodeAdded(node);
    b and in TreeviewMgr::ApplyDataToWidget
    TreeNodePtr<IDCGridNodeID> nodeID(node);
    PMString IndexNo= nodeID->GetName();
    I am going to database and retrieving string value according to that
    IndexNo.
    WCHAR Buf[200];// this contains value retrieve from database
    Then i am converting WCHAR[] to CHAR[] BY using
    size_t origsize = wcslen(Buf) + 1 ;
    const size_t newsize = 100;
    size_t convertedChars = 0;
    char nstring[newsize];
    wcstombs_s (&convertedChars, nstring, origsize, buf, _TRUNCATE);
    PMString StringToDisplay(nstring);
    //Till here its working fine
    But when i am setting this value as Node name
    style.Translate();
    setNodeName( widgetList, StringToDisplay, kIDCTVTextWidgetID );
    and function return kTrue; statement executed The application is crashing.
    With error showing
    b INdesign Encountered a problem Needs to close.
    I Am not able to find out why this is not working on Release while it is working fine on debug version..???????????????????
    Is I am missing or Made some changes For release version..????
    Thanks,

    Hi Michael,
    Thanks for your reply.
    The lines
    NodeID node = IDCGridNodeID::Create(IndexX);
    treeMgr->NodeAdded(node);
    are working fine for Both Debug N Release version.The Application Is crashing In tree view manager class as i explained.
    while it works fine without having even a single warning in debug version.
    I read the document and i find out if i want to add node in treeview i have to call
    treeMgr->NodeAdded(node);
    which will call manager
    b and in TreeviewMgr::ApplyDataToWidget
    i am getting my node name as
    TreeNodePtr<IDCGridNodeID> nodeID(node);
    PMString IndexNo= nodeID->GetName();
    I don't think that something is wrong in this but i am not sure becoz i am new in indesign development.
    for adding nodes i referred the SDK examples.I found the same code for adding.

  • InDesign CS3: Problem with Trial

    Hello,
    I have no tried installing the trial on three different machines and have gotten this message each time I have tried to launch the program and begin the trial:
    "A problem was encountered while trying to load the trial period for Adobe InDesign CS3.
    Click quit to see if restarting your computer or reinstalling the software fixes this problem. Otherwise, click Continue to display a screen where you can enter a valid serial number to begin using the product without trial."
    All of the machines I have tried to install on are running Windows XP SP2. Thanks for any help!

    I have the exact same issue.
    The product installed OK, but when I choose "Start 30 day trial" I am simply told "A problem was encountered..."
    The download is from Adobe web page, 15 August 2008.
    File size 459.188.632 bytes, MD5 = 27d34a3d4e5c5f08992b74c9747f4280
    Payload code = 24D77A7C-E10B-4057-9974-FAB8BFDAC853
    Payloads/Setup.xml: 458H Setup version="1.0.135.0"
    The software was installed on a fresh PC 2GHz, 1Gb memory, with win XP.
    It is totally frustrating that not even a trial can start. At least Quark gets that one right.. I truly understand people that search for a key generate online. All I needed was a trial while I wait for my paid copy to appear.
    Btw: InCopy will not even install, here I am simply told: "You can only run one installer at a time".. although InDesign was already completely installed.
    Shame on you, Adobe installer team. Shame on you.

  • CS3 problems with Master suite Dreamweaver CS3

    Hi all, I've just activated my new CS3 master suite and there are a few problems so far. I cannot make dreamweaver my default
    program for editing html files of any kind. I cannot also select any cs3 program as a default program for any file. I am using windows 7. I also cannot add the software package to my netbook as it keeps asking for the disc and I do not have a disc drive in the netbook. I have tried copying the
    installation files onto a memory stick but I still cannot activate the CS3 on my netbook?
    Any advice appreciated

    Hi Bob, unbelievable this is!
    This is where I am now - I found out from Adobe that these 2 licences we fake keys so after I picked my jaw up from the floor I contacted customer services at Adobe and asked them to take action against this seller and they have told me I will receive an email soon with an update. To be honest they didn't seem that bothered so i don't know if they will do anything. I should have seen the signs really because the seller has a PO Box and that is usually suspicious.
    Anyway I contacted the seller and told them that they had sold me an en illegal software package and demanded a refund. I then contacted my credit card company and blocked the transaction with them. As soon as I got off the phone from the CC company (10 mins ago) I checked my email and I had a reply from the seller, here it is .....
    "the keys i sent you over the email are for trial only, since the real keys are on the way in the mail.
    i did not send you your keys since i do not keep keys once i mail them out.
    have fully refunded in any case for the trouble, take care Steve and have a nice day"
    Now I don't know who Steve is because it certainly isn't my name so maybe this guy has this standard message on his clipboard for all of the refunds he has to issue. I don't think the line about a trial key sounds very likely but I am no expert with Adobe products so maybe you could shed some light on this.
    At least I got my refund so now all I have to do is make my mind up what to buy from here in but I will make sure it is from a company I have heard of

  • CS3 - problem with titles

    Hi everybody! I'm using adobe premiere pro cs 3,I've added two titles in my video that "scroll" from right to left and vice versa.. after reading help and tutorial I tried to add anti aliasing and blur in order to resolve it but when I export the video they appear not clear with many thin horizontal black
    lines... someone can suggest me how can I resolve this problem?? is it possible that is a problem of the features of the video exported? is PAL mpeg2 720x576 25[fps] wide screen, 224 [kbps] 48 kHZ, 16 bit, stereo...I'm waiting your kindly help!!! thanks! and happy new year!!!

    Can't view your link but... What are your sequence settings? Are you using title3D? If so, you need to use the control tab not the motion tab to reposition or resize. If you are using the plain text generator in fcp, do not resize using the motion tab, generate your text in the correct size and if you reposition, make sure the vertical coordinate is an even number.
    For crawls, I create my titles in photoshop and then bring them into fcp and keyframe the motion. I prebuild it in a sequence with the field dominance set to none (This is very important).

  • Cs3 Problems with saving for web and devices

    Lately, I have had a problem saving my files for Web and Devices and the problem I am having is that when I save the file it saves as a very pixelated version of the very crisp illustration I have created.  I can easily copy and paste the file from Illustrator into Photoshop and save it that way but I would much rather just save it in Illustrator.
    I am going to get the CS5 package shortly, however I wasn't sure if this problem would also continue in CS5.

    It should not be a problem in CS 3 either, definitely not in CS5.
    Try this
    PC
    1. Quit Illustrator.
    2. Rename the AIPrefs file (for example, to AIPrefs.old) in the Users/(user)/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings folder.
    3. Start Illustrator. Illustrator creates a new preferences file.
    Also here should be a Save for the Web folder as well trash that also should be in the same directory.
    Mac
    1. Quit Illustrator.
    2.Go to User/username/Library/Preferences/ Adobe illustrator CS4 Settings and trash the settings folder, the whole folder not just the contents of the folder..
    3. Start Illustrator. Illustrator creates a new preferences file.
    Also here should be a Save for the Web folder as well trash that also should be in the same directory

  • FW CS3 problem with Vector Images PLEASE HELP

    Hello,
    My name is Logan and I work for a company called Sutherland
    Design Agency. I am creating a website and i created some vector
    images in illustrator for the logo because i wanted source files to
    be imported into fireworks. When I imported the ai file it seemed
    to be rasterized. Is this normal?
    I would like my images to stay as vectors in fireworks so i
    decided to test this a couple times. When i create a vector i save
    it and import it into fireworks. It's a raster. Then i export it as
    an illustrator file and when i open it, it's a vector again. So i
    know that it is a vector, but why won't it show up in fireworks
    CS3.
    I also noticed the drop-down bar with the different image
    types. Is fireworks auto-optimizing? If so, is there a way to turn
    this off? I want to do my own optimization and I want to view the
    fireworks document the way it is.
    Much help would be greatly appreciated.

    FW CS3 should import your AI file without downsaving it to AI
    8. Keep in
    mind though, FW always displays vectors as they would appear
    when
    exported as bitmaps (browsers don't understand vector files
    without a
    helper application). If you are zooming in (not scaling) on
    the canvas,
    the artwork will start to look pixelated, because the stroke
    and fills
    are being displayed as bitmaps. Scaling the image should have
    no
    detrimental effect on the vector.
