PS CS4 and red cast to photos

Hi all,
New to the forums here.  Let me start by saying, I've read around, and the only 'fixes' I've found for this issue did not work for me.
Running a dual-quad core Mac with a single Dell 2209WA monitor.  The SAME issue happened first on my 15" MBP yesterday.  Both on my laptop yesterday, and desktop this early a.m. the problem began while I had PS open and working.
In both cases I had both Lightroom and PS CS4 open.  I select a photo in lightroom, make exposure adjustments then click 'Edit in CS4'.  I've been using this workflow successfully for a long time.  No recent changes to any hardware or software.  No new installs or updates.
In both cases I was working merrily along, opened an image as always in PS and all is fine.  Edit, Save, go back to Lightroom find my next image, click 'edit in PS', image opens and has a serious pink/red tint to it.
From out of the blue.  I did nothing out of the ordinary in either case, laptop and desktop.  Just listening to music and editing.  And suddenly from one image to the next I have a problem.
>>
I've read about all the color management settings in both LR and PS.  I'm no genius but I'm fairly savvy on that stuff.  Working profile in PS is ProPhoto RGB, set to preserve embedded profile.  Export settings in LR are set to export in ProPhoto RGB, and export as 16-bit PSD.
Monitor on laptop and desktop are both calibrated within the last 2-3 weeks.  No issues on other projects since then until now.  I've also opened up other LR catalogs to make sure it wasn't just that one catalog.  The problem seems to be in CS4.
Here is a link to a screengrab.  LR is in the background with true color.  PS is in foreground with tint.
IMAGE OF COLOR SHIFT
>>
I went in to PS settings and deselected 'Enable OpenGL Drawing'.  Relaunched PS with no fix.  Changed my monitor profile via Sys Prefs, relaunched PS, no fix.  Tried several combinations of color profiles within PS's Color Settings window, no fix.
PLEASE!!  Someone tell me why this just happened.  I'm supposed to deliver these pics by tonight.  aarrggghhh
Thanks much,
Jared

Old versions of Photoshop are not marketed by Adobe. Only CS5 can be upgraded to CS6.  There are many scams on the web if you find a cheap copy of Photoshop out there its most likely a scam... Be careful.....

  • My Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark 2 printer and red cast to prints

My Canon Pro9000 Mark 2 prints with a severe red cast on all prints. It has worked great for 3 years prior on my Mac. Just updated and installed Mavericks (OS 10) and believe that to be the culprit. Already checked ink tanks, ran printer head tests, cleaned and deep cleaned, and so forth. Does any Mac user (or other) know of a fix for this?

It may be a little different with the 9000 as it is several models back by now.  But what I explained should be close.

  • Photos have a red cast

    Hi:
I just read a very long Forum post involving Chris Cox from July 2010 regarding the referenced issue; unfortunately the thread had left the problem unresolved in 2010. I have a Nikon D3 camera, Windows 7, CS5, and a Epson R3000 printer. Everything was working well together, then "snap", ALL photos have a magent cast. When Windows Photo Gallery or CS5/Bridge are first opened, the photos import with correct color balance immediately. Then, the screen "blips", and all photos have a magenta sunburn. If I plug a thumbdrive of the same photos (downloaded from Windows>Pictures) into a Mac with CS5 and an Epson 4880 printer, then everything works perfectly and no magenta in the work flow. This red cast in photos seems to have been a long standing issue for many people, I hope a resolution has been found by now for this frustrating problem.  Thank you, Steve  [email protected]

  • Error in creating XML photo gallery with Flash CS4 and AS 3.0

Hello, all. I've been creating an XML photo gallery with Flash CS4 and AS 3.0 following a tutorial. I followed the instructions step-by-step but at the end I got the following error message instead:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.
Could anyone in the community assist me as to how to solve the problem? The script has no errors and last time I checked all the applicable files (the .xml file, the .jpg files, the .swf and the .fla file) are in my Documents folder on the Mac.
    Looking forward to your suggestions!

    Check the folder structure
Flash is not able to get some file thats why the IO Error.
trace the url path just before u load the file and u will be abel to find whether that file is in specified folder or not.

  • How to Copy Excel table into CS4 and print onto photo in sequence.

I would like to be able to import fields from Excel into Photoshop CS4 and have the Excel information print directly onto the photo image as a line of text across the bottom and layered over the image itself.  This Excel information needs to be able to change sequentialy (eg: ascending numbers, etc)  with each new photo.  Is there a way to do that with CS4 (or do I need a later version of Photoshop) ?

    Hi,
I'm not sure, but your best bet would be ask over in the photoshop scripting forum.

It's possible the variables feature in photoshop cs4 could do something like that:

  • B210a red cast and ICM

Hi have just installed a new B210a.
On my 4x6 prints, there is a feint red cast on the prints.
I also retouched the images in a popular piece of image software, but on printing, the images look like the originals and not the retouched versions - they are nowhere near as bright and clear as the monitor image.
Printer properties says ICM is disabled.  What should I do about ICM with my HP DV9689ea laptop and the B210a?
    Neil

I'm having the same problem but with a green cast.  And my prints are "muddy" as well -- nowhere near the vibrant prints my Photosmart 8250 produced. I tried printing with ICM disabled and then with ICM handled by the printer with no visible improvement.

  • What photo album software do you recommend for CS4 and/or CS5?

I want to do pagination, design and layout in CS4 (multiple photos per page, text, etc.) to create printable albums. These albums could be either social event or documentary purposed.
Many such photo album software programs are proprietary which obliges you to use a specific printer or lab. Are there stand alone photo album software programs out there, CS4/5 which allow you to create photo albums and then print your own albums or use a vender of choice to print your albums?
I've seen everything from $29 thru $400, and some which are priced beyond $800.
What is your favorite photo album software for CS4 and/or CS5?
Thanks for any help you may provide.

It sounds like you are trying to create scrapbook pages ... if so then its quite easy just to create them yourself using Photoshop. You can purchase scrapbooking kits which will give you all the background papers and elements that you need to add to your page. There are also many free kits around ... a quick google search will show you lots of them
Sets of the pages can then be uploaded to sites that will print out a book ...

  • What is causing an intense orange and red coloration on all my photos?

I first noticed about 2 weeks ago while i was working on a project in Premiere Elements that all persons had a very orangy complexion, and the reds were extremely intense, and this has been varying for the two weeks, from a washed out color to just rather vivid to intense.  Then i thought it was okay after i made a few changes.  The monitor had been trying to go so i replaced it, then i replaced the cable, and today the orangy complexion is back and almost as intense as before.  It is even that intense on pictures on the internet, so it is not related to photoshop, thank goodness.
    What is going?  Any suggestions?
    Ron

Thanks for the additional comments.  The plan is to output my project to a BluRay disc, and i was trying to preserve the best quality i could for the disc within the scopes of Premiere Elements.
Is there no difference or preference as to using DSLR versus a HDV project preset for best quality?
I have rendered the project, but this is where the present problem seems to be arising for me.  I guess my confusion is following your directions for your 'burning disc' workaround.  Since when i went to 'share' to burn my BluRay disc directly, i wasn't given the option of burning, because the media was 'not present' to burn??  I don't know how i could have ruined a brand new blu ray disc, so i did attempt to do your workaround method.  I may have incorrectly modified your guideline in your book, because you said to do an avi but earlier in the same chapter you said avi was for standard video, and you stated mpeg was for high definition videos.  So i tried to burn my project to a computer windows 7 file as a mpeg with the 1920x1080i, and then was going to try and burn it as i think you suggested using the computer burn options rather than Premiere Elements?.  But only 5% into the project of approximately 13 1/2 hours expected time or so it stated at that point, i got the pop up saying that my memory was extremely low and to save and proceed cautiously, so i just cancelled it.  I have been reassured with 8GB of RAM i have enough memory to do these projects.  When rendering, even though it took a long while, it kept automatically saving, and this pop up never appeared.  So i have hesitated to keep trying this again.  Yes, i need to get some rerecordable blu-ray discs to play with rather than lose one every time for whatever unknown reason, unless there is just a large percentage of faulty discs when you purchase them, and i am using Verbatim 50GB 6x???  I also keep getting the 'Adobe Premiere Elements 9 is not responding' notice, and the little swirling green circle with the 'wait for the program to respond' statement, which can be there for 30-40 minutes, plus since i rendered the project, if i reboot or exit Premiere Elements, it is taking that long and appears longer every single time to reload the program.  I was told it was best to assess the size of my project by going to share, then computer, then mpeg and put my presets in to see the actual size of the project, and that states that it is almost 45GB and is almost 2 hours in length.
Is there something wrong with my computer?  Am i missing something?  Am i doing something wrong?    I am now afraid to even try, because of the implication of too little memory.
I have spent hours on the phone with Adobe, with different technicians, some of whom speak better English, but i don't think any of them really understood the question i was calling for, and sent me off on wild good chases that were probably totally unnecessary.  That has been one of the most frustrating experiences.  I find that actually doing the project was much fun, but it has become an extremely frustrating job to get where i thought i had it exactly the way i wanted, and can't get it to the finished product.  That is when i started searching on the internet to find some kind of manual to help answer the questions i really wasn't getting answered by Adobe, even when paying for the services.  And i found your book, but the part on the burn disc workaround is not totally clear to me, and then running into these problems as i have tried to finish this project off.  This is half of the planned project, so i am anxious to get to the second part, but............
Plus the issue of the fluctuating intense oranges and reds on my monitor, i am not afraid to go ahead and edit the second group of photos for fear of having all the faces look bright orange.  I have had a computer lad come to my house, and since i knew my monitor was going, i replaced that with a new Samsung HD monitor, then i replaced the cable to it, and it still seems to be a fluctuating problem.  Is the video card the next thing to replace, or do i have a more serious problem.  My computer is one year old exactly, and it is a HP p6320f with AMD Phenom II x4 820 processor, with 8.0GB of RAM, using windows 7 65 bit operating system, and one TB on hard drive.
I feel like i have already connected to you through your book, so i have tried to spill out everything here in hopes that you can make me see the light!  I am very much a novice on these issues, just getting into photoshop in the past year, but perhaps feel i have gone far past my abilities even with just Elements 9 and Premiere Elements 9.
I certainly thank you for your comments, and hope that you could perhaps clarify your workaround to me.
    Thanks you so very much.

  • Recently I purchased CS4 Web Design can I deactivated my old Photo. CS4 and Illust. CS3 to sell/gift

I have a full version of CS4 Web Design Premium, now my old Photoshop CS4 and Illustrator CS3 are redundant.  Can I either sell these or give as a gift to my girlfriend's nephew - they have been deactivated and removed from my computer (macbook pro).
Thanks for your insight and help!

You may sell or otherwise transfer the individual Photoshop and Illustrator products unless (1) one or the other was used as the basis to do an upgrade to the suite itself or (2) those products were student or academic versions or part of a bulk commercial license.
Make sure you transfer registration of the software using the forms available from Adobe's website.

  • Extreme red cast on iPhoto after editing

Some, but not all, photos edited in iPhoto exibit an extreme red cast distortion when I try to use them in a slide show or if I try to export them. I have tried several different formats on export and all show the red cast. The photo also changes to the redcast when I go into the info mode.

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
        Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache folder(s):
    Home/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
and, if there is one, the
    Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
If that's doesn't help Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database, followed by Option #1 if needed.
