PS CS4 "File Info" Forms - Clearing "Suggested Words"

My photographer friend uses PS CS4 on a Mac book.
She asked me if I knew how to clear the 'type-ahead' or 'suggested' words and phrases that show up in the PS CS4 'File Info' forms. She has some typos
in the list of suggested words and she would like to delete them.
I sat at her Mac for about an hour and I could find no way to get rid of unwanted suggested words in the File Info forms.
For example, in the Description Form, in the Author field, she types the first letter of her name and a list of suggested phrases comes up. She has misspelled her name several times and these mispellings are higher in the list than the correct spelling, so she has to go down the list to find her name spelled correctly.
Is it possible to delete or clear all the previously-entered words and phrases?
I have played around with my Win 7 CS4 and I tried renaming and then deleting one by one all the XMP files I find in my folder User/AppData/Adobe but the suggested words and phrases I have used previously still show up when I type something in a file Info form in a new image. I closed CS4 each time I renamed or deleted an .xmp file.
Thanks, Bill

Not sure if this might help, but try it and please report back (these steps fix problems in some odd situations.)
Open the fmb on a computer where it will open ok.
Do a pl/sql Replace All, replacing all semicolon with semicolon. (That just forces the Forms Builder to remove embedded compiled code.)
Save and close the form (without recompiling anything). You may notice the fmb size is reduced.
Then try opening the fmb on the other computer.

    CS4 File info dialog very slow to open and respond. Every click or or key stroke takes more than 1 second to record. I have try multiple changes in the performance preferences and nothing has an affect. This is the only dialog box in the program that has the problem. The problem started when I uninstalled and reinstalled because of problems with the program freezing. I have changed every setting in the preferences performance section back and forth including 3 different amounts of memory usage (lo hi and recommended) restarting PS every time and nothing works. I would appreciate any help, keeping in mind that there have been no changes to the PC and it worked fine for a long time (approx 1/12 years) previous to the reinstall. • Bridge CS4 File Info dialog broken

    Hi all,
    I hope somebody may help:
    My Bridge used to work fine, until I experienced the following error:
    "Fatal Error in running FileInfo:
    Please run the XMP Panels 2.0 STI first and restart your App.
    The STI will install necessary swf files to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\XMP\Custom File Info Panels\2.0\ "
    I´m using a VISTA Home Premium 32-bit system.
    As I had no idea what is meant by "STI" I simply copied all files from the folder above (...XMP\Custom File Info Panels\2.0\) from a friends machine (same operating system, same Photoshop version) to mine.
    Unfortunately this did not solve the problem.
    If I now select "File Info" in Bridge CS4, the error is gone. But now an empty window opens. Or better to say, it´s not a window but a blank dialog box with nothing on it but white color. I can close this box by pressing ESC.
    Best regards, Sebastian

  • Adobe CMM and Photoshop CS4 File Info problems

    I installed the Adobe Color Management Module several days ago.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3618
    Today when I opened the File Info dialog in Photoshop CS4,I got a blank black window. Same went for the Kuler window and other extensions under the Window menu. Other panels such as the palettes and toolbox were fine.
    I went through reset prefs,reinstalled PS,and reinstalled my video driver.
    Same problems.
    Uninstalled the Adobe CMM and the panels returned to normal.
    I don't know exactly what happened,but something this forum should know about.

    Chris,I downloaded and reinstalled the CMM and the problem repeated.
    File Info: blank, as well as the Kuler, and Connect extensions under the Windows menu. Additionally,any custom panels installed via Configurator also went blank.(although I had uninstalled those on my first round of troubleshooting)
    Again as soon as I uninstalled the CMM,I got the File Info, Kuler, and Connect windows back.
    This is on a Toshiba A205-S5843 running Vista SP1
    I also tried the CMM on a Toshiba A75 (Windows XP)with a trial of CS4 Extended. There were no problems on that configuration with the CMM installed.
    I don't know what it is,but thought it should be passed along.

  • Custom File Info Panel CS2- CS4

    I have a Custom File Info Panel that has been created in Adobe Photoshop CS2 and works in CS3.  I am having trouble figuring out how to get it to work in CS4.  Is there a way to port the Custom File Info Panel into CS4 without entirely recreating it?
    I am seeing references to FileInfo SDK and creating a new Flex UI but I can't seem to find a definitive method on this pre-CS4 File Info Panel to the new UI - and I am in unfamiliar territory.
    Any assistance or points in the proper direction would be most helpful.
    UPDATE:  Answering at least some of my own questions, I have followed the procedure here:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/gunar/2008/11/customizing_metadata_ui_in_cs4.html
    I am still having some trouble with a couple of the unique properties but I expect that they will be typos... I hope...
    Any good reference information is still welcome.

    Thank you for suggesting the PS Scripting forum but I think the next stop might be the XMP SDK Forum as there are a few similar questions there such as http://forums.adobe.com/thread/540397.  But before I go impolitely cross-posting...
    I've had some success and it appears that my custom file info metadata edited and saved in CS2 is now visible in CS4 and the reverse is also true - metadata edited and saved in CS4 is visible in CS2.  This was built using the Generic Panel from the SDK according to the instructions shown at the link in my original post.
    The only problem is that the external application that relies on the custom metadata doesn't see the CS4 version of the metadata.  I suspect that this is just some general namespace issue.  Perhaps if an XMP expert would be willing to comment on the conversion of the Custom Info Panel based on the following single portion of the metadata to see if I am doing it correctly - I would very much appreciate it.
    In the CS2 Custom Info Panel XML I have this field:
    <panel title="$$$/CustomPanels/XYZ/PanelName=XYZCorp Graphics MetaData" version="1" type="custom_panel">
      group(placement: place_row, spacing: gSpace, horizontal: align_fill, vertical: align_top, reverse: rtl_aware)
      static_text(name: '$$$/CustomPanels/XYZ/fullName=Full Name/Title of Graphic', font: font_big_right, vertical: align_center);
      cat_container_edit_text(xmp_ns_prefix: 'xyzcorp', xmp_namespace: 'xyzcorp', xmp_path: 'FullName', container_type: seq_struct, horizontal: align_fill);
      mru_popup(xmp_ns_prefix: 'twcable', xmp_path: 'FullName', no_check: true, vertical: align_top, container_type: seq_struct, mru_append: true);
      <!-- many more fields -->
    </panel>
    In my CS4 properties.xml the corresponding field:
    <xmp_definitions xmlns:ui="http://ns.adobe.com/xmp/fileinfo/ui/">
    <xmp_schema prefix="custom" namespace="xyzcorp" label="$$$/Custom/Schema/Label=XYZCorp Graphics MetaData" description="$$$/Custom/Schema/Description=CS4 Version of XYZCorp MetaData Custom Panel.">
        <!-- simple properties -->
       <xmp_property name="FullName" category="external" label="$$$/Custom/Property/FullName_Label=Full Name/Title of Graphic:" type="seq" element_type="text"/>
    <!-- many other properties -->
    <ui:separator/>
    </xmp_schema>
    </xmp_definitions>
    It seems that the following CS2 => CS4 translations should be true:
    "xmp_namespace" => xmp_schema namespace property (in this case "xyzcorp")
    "xmp_path" => xmp_property name property (for this one property, "FullName")
    is there another translation that I am missing?  I am betting it has something to do with the CS2 "xmp_ns_prefix" but I am not entirely sure how to map this.  Also perhaps something in manifest.xml (though it didn't seem like it)?
    Many thank you's to anyone that can offer words of wisdom.

  • Font in File Info dialog

    How do I change the font used in the PS CS4 "File Info" dialog? The type on my Vista 64 machine is unreadable. All of the menus and everything else are okay; it's just this one dialog box. It's hard to keyword images.
    The same dialog box on my Windows XP laptop looks fine, and I don't know why my desktop is using a different (inferior) font.
    Thanks!
    Kevin

    Not sure why my other reply didn't get posted, so I'll try again (my apologies if it's duplicated).
    I don't have a host available to hotlink the screenshot so all can see. I sent the screen capture directly to Irina.
    I DO have both Segoe UI (in four different weights) and Tahoma installed.
    For anyone else who's interested, the font in my File Info dialog appears to be a decorative face, somewhat like Hypatia, that's barely readable at the small size used in the dialog box. Descenders on letters like "g" are cut off. Hyphens are barely visible.
    And this appears to be the only dialog box in Photoshop CS4 where this typeface appears.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • CS5 File Info Panel Memory Management

    We created, and have been using, a very large custom generic panel in CS4 File Info.  The MRU file has grown to 2.5 mb, the properties are 1.5 mb -- but they have been working great in CS4.  In CS5 they only work once in a while.  With thousands of keyword in the MRU, or values in an XMP_Choice property pull-down, CS5 has memory problems.  The panel will either be empty the first time you open it, although there are xmp values in file, or the panel will just close after trying to process the MRU's.
    Are panels in CS products no longer intended to be used for this large of a metadata set of attributes and values?
    Thanks for your help.

    That's a much more technical question than could be expected to be answered here.

  • CS5 Generic File Info Memory Problem

    We have been using a  very large custom generic panel in CS4 File Info.  The MRU file has  grown to 2.5 mb, the properties are 1.5 mb -- but they have been working  great in CS4.  In CS5 they frequently do not work .   The panel will either be empty when  you open it, although there are xmp values in file, or after entering data, the panel will spin for a while, show empty again, often after trying to process the MRU's.
    Are panels  in CS5 products OK to be used for this large of a  metadata set of attributes and values?
    Using latest Macs, 4GB of ram, happens in all CS5 apps.
    Thanks for your  help.
    Todd

    Todd,
    I understand your requirement. Controlled vocabularies can be a
    critical component of a metadata strategy.
    I know people that use a semicolon delimited file to pre-load the CS3
    File Info MRU of a bag or seq field via a single copy and paste. Its
    limit appears to be fifteen entries. Like you they are simulating a
    controlled vocabulary for a list.
    Pound Hill's MetaGrove Plug-in provides controlled vocabularies for
    lists (bag and seq). These are displayed as a table of one column,
    popup at the top, open or closed choice.
    The largest single (internal) MetaGrove vocabulary I have implemented
    has 4004 entries in one language, 1 mb in size. PHS's format is more
    verbose than Adobe's MRU or File Info panel formats. It takes 20
    seconds to initialize.
    MetaGrove vocabularies can optionally be external text files, with tab
    delimited value/label pairs, local or on the network. These are single
    language, by definition. This is intended for an enterprise where the
    external vocabulary file is typically updated monthly or quarterly.
    The plug-in will automatically cache the update within a week
    (default). The vocabulary can be maintained using a spreadsheet or
    output from an application like yours.
    Regarding your test with repeated red, green blue, for 100,000 entries:
    In File Info v0 and v1 (CS through CS3), "All names and keyphrases
    (values) in the list must be unique." This constraint is not mentioned
    in the v2/3 File Info document. Does repeated red, green blue work
    with 9 entries or so?
    Most CS3 applications have odd behaviors with more than 99 entries in
    a File Info popup. This appears to be fixed in Acrobat 10. I haven't
    attempted more than 200 entries in a CS3 panel popup.
    I suspect that building a in-memory copy of a vocabulary from a panel
    file, or from the MRU file, is a serial process and does not scale
    linearly. Each incremental entry takes longer to add to the in-memory
    representation because the entire in-memory copy must be scanned each
    time. The design goals of tens to entries probably did not warrant
    using database techniques for the internal representation. The
    performance in CS4 is your benchmark.
    CS4 and 5 File Info appears to be doing some central caching.
    Sometimes, I need to remove the panel entirely, Exit all File Info
    applications, run an application and its File Info, Exit and then add
    the panel in again to get changes to take. You probably need to get
    everyone-out-of-the-pool before you touch the MRU file.
    The CS3 copy and paste technique mentioned above might be an
    alternative to let FIle Info manage the MRU. However, in your case, it
    will test the implementation limits of the menu field payload capacity.

  • PS CS4 crashing when accessing "File Info"

    Anyone else have this problem? solution? suggestion?...
    I edit somewhat large files (120mb+) in 16 bit mode on an Intel Mac Pro (8 core)
    Before I save the file I always go to "file info" to add titles etc.
    After about 4 or 5 images, when I go to select "File Info" again the application crashes.
    This happens consistently like clockwork - I now save every time before I go to use/check "File Info" - It can't be trusted.

    could be - no doubt 10.6- has caused problems with current versions of PS and other CS4 apps... but on the other hand PS crashes a lot on Windows as well (just look at their forums)... its a tough job balancing OS updates with software releases - but I think passing the buck is a bit hasty - someone once said - clean up your own house before you criticize you neighbors...

  • XMP File Info SDK for CS4

    Hi,
    on our SDK page, the link to the CS4 SDK accidentally got lost,
    but you can still download it here.
    Here is short guideline which SDK to use:
    If you or your customer are using only CS5, use the the CS5 SDK
    When your custom panel shall be used with both CS4 and CS5, please use the CS4 SDK
    For users of CS3 or earlier, you can create custom panels using a textual syntax, please use this SDK
    When you have existing "EVE panels", you can convert them to MXML,
    please read the forum discussion "Convert CS3 XMP Panels to work with CS
    -- Stefan

    Acrobat X custom panels are still compatible to Acrobat 8/9.
    You can neither use the File Info SDK CS4 nor CS5.
    To create a custom panel, please use this package on DevNET.

  • File Info (Exif) window empty and locks CS4

    Greetings. In Photoshop CS4, my File>Info window is now blank (empty) and modal, i.e., I must close Photoshop via Task Manager (Windows 7).

    I appreciate it, Luanne! I'm hoping a full reinstall of CS4 won't be necessary!

  • Photoshop cs4 wrong exif orientation in File Info

    I've been playing around with Exif orientation data, and CS4 always shows the orientation as "Normal" in File -> File Info. However, looking at the same EXIF information with other programs (e.g. Picasa), I see the appropriate rotation information, which is consistent with how I took the photos. Is this a bug in Photoshop CS4? I took the photos with an iPhone 4, by the way.

    Is there a way for me to upload the file to the forum without stripping the EXIF information? Would be interested if you see the same thing on your Mac.
    No; but you can upload it to an FTP server or a service like Dropbox or the free yousendit.com and post the link to it here.

    how do I convert a Pages file (a form) into another programme like Word or InDesign? I do not have Pages

    In OS X Pages '09 v4.3, do not be tempted to File > Save... copy as Word document. Instead, you want to export (or Share as Mail), both the PDF and the Word Documents.
    If you choose Share > Send as Mail > PDF (and/or Word), make sure that in Apple Mail, that your composition window has Send Windows-Friendly Attachments selected. You can enable this from the paper-clip icon on the Mail composition window toolbar.

  • Exchange server damages Word files - cannot be opened on Word for iPad anymore

    Dear all,
    I posted the following problem in the Office for iPad forum and was asked to address this topic here as well. Probably you can help?
    In my office we are using Word 2007 to create ordinary .docx files. When I email such a file to my iPad I cannot open it neither in the Mail.app preview nor in Word for iPad.
    Mail.app tells me its an "Office Open XML word processing document" and Word just tells me the file is damaged. However the files opens just fine in various versions of Word for PC and Mac.
    Does anyone know what is happening here? I bought Office for iPad especially to being able to open the word files I create in my office... :-(
    Additional info:
    I ran the following test:
    I took a .docx file I created on my office PC which was stored on our server and saved it locally to my PC harddrive. I then saved a copy as .doc as well. Then I emailed both files to my office Outlook account AND my iCloud account (with one email).
    BOTH files did NOT open in Word for iPad from my Outlook account (Exchange Server) but BOTH files just opened fine from my iCloud account.
    I then forwarded the email from my Outlook account to my iCloud account and now BOTH files did NOT open on the iPad anymore.
    So it seems that my Outlook account (Exchange server) corrupts the files so they cannot be opened on the iPad anymore, while they can still be opened on a PC or Mac.
    Do you have any ideas to solve that issue?
    It cannot be that Office for iPad doesnt work in combination with an Exchange Server Outlook Account, can it?
    best regards
    Wolfgang

    Hi,
    I suggest doing following test and returning the results to me.
    1. Please using OWA to open the .docx file on both PC and iPad via your Exchange account.
    If the file can be opened in OWA. I suggest asking ActiveSync Forum for help so that we can get more professional suggestions.
    For your convenience:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/home?forum=exchangesvrmobility
    2. Please verify whether this issue occur on only one user (your Exchange account). If only you have this issue, it should be an issue on your Exchange account or your iPad.
    3. Please try to use other's iPad for test. If the file can be opened on other's iPad, it seems an issue on your iPad.
    Thanks
