PS CS4 Merge to HDR + Photomerge broken Error 48 (Line 44/41)

Hey there!
I'm running Photoshop CS 4 on my Mac (OS X - 10.6.5). I tried for the first time to start
Automate > Merge to HDR and
Automate > Photomerge
but all I get are those weird error messages and I cant make anything of them, also couldnt find a helpful thread so I hope
someone around here can help me out.
When I click Merge to HDR it says:  "Error 48 File or Folder does not exist - Line: 44 -> $.evalFile(g_StackScriptFolderPath + "CreateImageStack.jsx");
the photomerge error looks similar: "Error 48 File or Folder does not exist - Line 41 -> $.evalFile(g_StackScriptFolderPath + "CreateImageStack.jsx");
Any help is appreciated!!!
thanks!

Thanks for your reply!
I only added some brushes to the Presets>Brushes folder but that's the only thing, that cant be the problem, can it?
Other than that I didnt mess with any other folders.

  • After merging to HDR Pro, get Error 54: Uncaught Javascript exception:  Error

I'm trying to create a HDR image.  Once the images are merged, asked to complete toning in ACR at 32 bit.  OK results in Error 54: Uncaught Javascript exception:  Error #.  Line 182 throw error.  I've tried changing to 16 bit.  Neither option allows me to just save.  Any ideas?

Perhaps there is a data error.  Check your table admin_tab to see what values are being stored there in production.  You're getting an error due to an unexpected value in admin_tab_line-kind.  If you can't easily get to the data in the table, try debugging your program by placing a break point in the code just before your CASE statement.  Then when it hits that break point, check the values in admin_tab.  I hope this helps.

  • Merge to HDR in CS4 from LR2.1 not working

I searched for this problem and did not find anything. I have created several virtual copies and varied the exposure from -2 to +2 EV in LR2.1. I then with all copies selected, then I chose Edit in CS4->Merge to HDR. When it goes into CS4, only one of the images is worked on times the number of copies selected in LR!?!? Am I doing something wrong??

Unfortunately I can't answer your question, I can only tell you what the
Adobe programmers have said about no being able to use a single raw image
for an HDR. I can also tell you two things...
    1) A true HDR is about dynamic range over the entire image. A fake HDR is
more about how to have for example a proper sky with a proper foreground,
not about bringing out every possible bit of detail in both of those areas.
    2) If you look at a true HDR image that has been processed correctly and
compare that to a fake HDR there is a rather large difference in the images.
I will also tell you that both forms real and fake have their uses and that
in my opinion by and large I tend to like the fake ones better as the image
still looks like a photo where nearly 99.9% of the true HDR images that I
have seen have looked more like paintings. I think this is for two reasons.
    1) The true HDR aren't processed correctly by the people very well. 2) Human
beings for as long as there has been photography are conditioned to have
images that have areas that are light and dark to the point that we don't
see any or very much detail, HDR is specifically about having all areas have
detail that can be clearly seen. No real dark, no real light just a
perfectly even perfect exposure. To our minds this isn't a photograph it is
more painting or artwork than photo. This isn't to say that I haven't seen
true HDR that I didn't like, I have it just doesn't happen often, mostly I
suspect do to poor processing, but even the ones with what I would consider
proper processing (no halos, or overly vivid colors) still look more
    painting than photo.
In the end it all comes down to creativity or to each artists tastes. If you
like the "fake" HDR then by all means use it. I do. I have a technique that
I use that I have not seen mentioned any place else that I will share. I
will do a video these things are so visual that doing it in text just
doesn't work well in my opinion. I will post a link to the video in a few
days. Maybe someone will like it.

  • Merge to HDR CS4

Shot using bracket and when doing the Merge to HDR got an error message that image wasn't from the same camera.  Also, the result was as expected being better that the basic photograph.  Any hints?

    Try this
It includes a tutorial with Lightroom and Photomatix at the end. You can use JPEG, but RAW gives much better results.
I use -4, -3, -2,-1,0,+1,+2,+3,+4 EV = 9 Brackets On the Canon +2EV, +1EV,-2EV and -1EV=12 pict., then you have to take out3 pictures out of 12 with the same exposure time 0EV,-1EV and +1EV.  But you can do it with 3 pictures as well it depends on  the situation.
Or when you look in Bridge: The first 8 pictures KEEP, next 2 DON"T KEEP, nex1 KEEP, last one DON'T KEEP.
    Good luck!!!

  • HDR, Photomerge,etc. Problems

    Hi:
I have reported sometime earlier that I constantly have crashes if I try to use the Photoshop tools in Bridge, like Merge to HDR, Photomerge or Load into Photoshop Layers.  No solution so far has been suggested and I was wondering if this is basically a RAM issue.  I am currently currently working on a Mac Pro Quad Core, 2.93 GHz, with 8 MB of RAM.  I am willing to upgrade to more RAM if this is the problem.  Can anyone help me with this?
    Herman R.

    Meredith:
Thanks for being willing to help but since the post you referred to things have happened.  The latest update to Photoshop solved the Content Aware Fill not working in 64 bit and the HDR Merge problem, etc. not working in 64 bit was solved by Chris Cox (Adobe employee) determining it was an OS corruption issue.  I used Font Doctor to isolate them and after their removal everything is now working fine.

  • Error when trying to use Automate Merge to HDR... in Photoshop CS4

    Hello,
I am using Photoshop CS4 on a new MacBook Pro running 10.5.6.
If i select "Automate>Merge to HDR..." or "Automate>Photomerge...", i get an alert with an error:
« Error 48: File or folder does not exist.
    Line: 38
    -> $.evalFile(g_StackScriptFolderPath + "LatteUI.jsx"); »
I went the whole uninstall-reinstall the Design Premium suite, but i still get the same error.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
PS : A file named LatteUI.jsx does exist at the location /Volumes/Applications/Adobe CS4/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets/Scripts/Stack Scripts Only/LatteUI.jsx, and obviously i have installed the suite on a different folder than the default...

This is not an error of installation.  I have had photoshop CS4 installed on a completely different partition on a Macbook and a MacPro.  They were running fine.  All the necessary files were installed to the system drive during installation.  I too am having this problem, but it was the upgrade to snow leopard that caused it.  I am searching for a solution to it, when I find it, I will post it.

  • Merge to HDR in PS CS4 broken

I'm using Photoshop CS4 as part of Creative Suite CS4 on a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard.  When executing the File>Automate>Merge to HDR command, the program crashes with the following error: The command "<unknown>" is not currently available.  This error occurs at the very end of the script, after it has successfully imported the individual images into layer and has created the merged image.  A screen shot of the message is attached.
It seems to have crashed in the course of processing the exposure information.  If I click OK the image simply disappears.  I would really appreciate suggestions on how to troubleshoot and correct this issue, since one of my HDR workflows is now completely inoperative!  Thanks!
    Peter

ChrisThanks for checking into the problem, I really appreciate you going to
the trouble of taking the photos.  It appears we are doing the exact same
thing.  I'm also using a tripod and since i cant bracket through 9 shots i
have to roll through the shutter changes which gives a slight mis-alignment,
    I always use a tripod.
I dont have any plugins, this was a new upgrade, hdr never worked for large
images from day 1 with CS4 (worked fine in CS2).  I had a horrible time
installing, nothing worked, it crashed, stuff missing etc.  The first 2 days
of the tech support nightmare was just trying to get it installed or to
recognize my old serial #. Finally someone there said uninstall everything
(5th or 6th time by then) and you must install acrobat first then the rest
of CS4....? He then said that it was a known issue for installing on
    WinXP-64 ! Not well known.
Once it was "working" I noticed there was no pdf output and hdr didnt work -
so another day at tech support, on hold and given the runaround because no
one there had a clue how to fix either problem. They would give me the wrong
answer, hang up and close my case!  A lot of my correspondance from those
cases is missing hmmmm?!  Oh, if only those calls were really being
recorded, i would pay for a copy of those! course you'd have to edit out the
16 hrs i spent on hold!  Anyway, I found that i was just missing the output
module, found that out on someone's blog. Tech support didnt know that ?!
HDR was replicted, but no response. Included below is my last ticket which i
will not close and they will not answer.
I did more tests myself, all using align with a group of 9 images shot as
jpgs sRGB 5616 x 3744 (so they are only about 6-10 MB each)
using 3 of the 9 images (center, and 2 extremes) it took 1 min
    using 4 images: 4 min
    using 5 images: 7 min
    using 6 images: 18 min
using 9 images:  gave up after 45 min (had to crash out, can't cancel)
I shrunk the images down to 3600 pixels and tried all 9 and it completed in
    29 min (see attached)
I monitored the task manager and saw that the memory usage was only about
1/2 available (4 G ) and all 8 processors worked through most of the align
    function
Since I was able to do all 9 at full size in CS2 in a couple of minutes, and
you can currently do 10 at about the same or less, then the only differnce i
can see is that my CS4 is WinXP-64 and my CS2 was the 32-bit version ?  Can
I also install CS4-32-bit?  or even my old  CS2-32-bit on another drive?  I
shudder to think of going through that installation nightmare again.
    Thanks,
    Pete A

My HDR & Photomerge are broken!
Recently the functions for moving multiple images into HDR & Photomerge via Tools and Automate is not working. When I try I get dialog boxs that are incorrect and the software will not allow it.
I've update, removed added items from Photoshop, have plenty of memory devoted to Photoshop, spent hours working with Adobe tech, now waiting for an answer from them takes 72 hours.
Has anyone else experienced this and have you found a solution?
    HELP ! PLEASE !

    Adobe CS6 Beta -Crash
    Steps:
Select 3 images in LR3.6 > Edit in Merge to HDR Pro in Photoshop (CS6)
    In CS6:
    select Preset > Saturated
Check Remove Ghosts, select EV0 image, and Edge Smoothness
    Click OK
This works the first time I do an HDR but the second time I do it without closing down CS6 I get this error message:
I also tried it without using the Edge Smoothness and got the same message.
Opening files from within CS6 instead of LR3.6 gave the following error the 2nd time I did an HRD:
I have Vista64, 12GB RAM, a dedicated partition for the scratch file, 97GB free with only 3.6GB used by CS6.

  • Merge to HDR and Photomerge have stopped working. Process never starts!

I have a problem with Merge To HDR and also photomerge. The issue appears to have the same cause. Basically what happens is as follows:
    1. Open Photoshop
    2. Goto File->Automate->Merge To HDR Pro
    3. Dialog box appears.
    4. I select the files stored on HDD
    5. Click OK
And then nothing happens... No screen appears, no progress bar, no dialog box of any kind. Photoshop continues to work fine as if I had just opened it.
The other issue is even more strange.
    1. Open Photoshop
    2. Open the files that I wish to merge (saved on the HDD)
    2. Goto File->Automate->Merge To HDR Pro
    3. Dialog box appears.
    4. I select the 'Add open files' option
    5. Dialog box appears telling me that the files must be saved before they can be merged.
The exact same issues occur with Photomerge as well.
I am using a 15" MacBook Pro (Early 2011) with 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD (100 GB free), 2GHz i7 processor. Currently running OSX Lion 10.7.2. My current Photoshop version is 12.0.4 and I am running it on 64 bit (although have tried in 32bit mode).
This is a link to a screencast I made which documents the issue (with a completely new user): http://youtu.be/6_jltW-f34Q
I have had this issue before but was never really resolved. I contacted adobe and was told to try various things like creating new users, deleting preferences and even uninstalling and reinstalling my entire CS5 package.
The problem resolved when I upgraded my Mac to OSX Lion, although I have no clue why. Now the issue has returned and is extremely frustrating.
    Cheers, Jeremy

  • Error message on Merge to HDR

    Hi -
Whenever I use the Merge to HDR function (CS4, using XP, SP3) I get a strange error message at the end of the processing portion (just before the completed 32-bit image displays).  The error says something to the effect that it's possible that the images used for the HDR were taken with different cameras.  This occurs on every HDR I create using Photoshop.  I'm almost positive it also came up in CS3.  Naturally, the images were taken with the same camera, and all EXIF data is intact, showing the camera make, model, serial, etc.
The only option available in the error message is to click "OK".  99% of the time, processing resumes when I click OK, and the resulting HDR is fine.  Once in a while, when I click OK, the whole process aborts, and PS shows that I have no images open - not the HDR, and not the 3 original JPEGs.  I run the Merge to HDR from Bridge, and the images are all straight from the camera - no processing or anything that might affect the EXIF or metadata.
Any idea what makes PS think that I'm using multiple cameras to take a HDR?  Or why sometimes it just aborts the process when I click OK?  I honestly cannot remember if I've ever tried merging to HDR using RAW files to compare whether the error occurs then or not.  No other HDR engine (and I've used several) seems to have a problem with my images.
    Thanks!

In original post it states "Naturally, the images were taken with the same camera, and all EXIF data is intact, showing the camera make, model, serial, etc.".
Have not used this function but seem reasonable that the cryptic Adobe message is just generic term for being shot at different angle.  If the angle is too great it can't register the images correctly and so aborts.  At least that is how I read it.
Message was edited by: curt y
And of course the the lens was zoomed it would also seem like a different camera.

  • Merge to HDR Pro from LR5. After applying preset and during conversion of file, Iget an error message "Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 has stopped working" and closing PS

In LR5 i do: Merge to HDR Pro. After I apply my preset and PS attempts to convert HDR file, I get an error message from PS: "Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 has stopped working". Then PS Closes.
My source files are 5 NEF files of 28 MB. I select 16-bit, I also tried 8-bit. No difference. Same error message.
    I have a Toshiba Quosmio X870 with Intel i7 3610QM @ 2,30 GHz, 16 GB RAM, Windows 7x64 HP SP 1, 7,3 Performance Index
    Any suggestions?

As the crash report says - your outdated video card driver is crashing. You need to update your video card driver from the GPU maker's website (AMD/ATI in this case).

  • Memory issue with 'Merge to HDR' in CS4

    Hi All
I use Lightroom 2.3 and have recently tried to use the 'Edit in' function to 'Merge to HDR in Photoshop' with just 3 Raw files.
PS opens fine and the three images appear as separate layers, the 'Merge to HDR' window then opens allowing me to set the White Point preview etc. but on trying to complete the operation I get the following error message..
"The operation could not be completed.
Not enough storage is available to complete this operation"
    I am using;
-Win Vista 32bit with 3gb of Ram.
    -Intel 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.4GHz
    -NVIDIA GeForce9600GS (7.15.11.7490 Driver)
Under 'Preferences'/'Performance' I have 'Memory Usage' set to 1298MB(79%) and the Scratch disk is set to the internal HD with 502.86GB reading as free. (I also have 2 external USB2.0 HDs with 880 & 909GB free respectively.I have tried every permutation of having these combined or individually as the Scratch disk but to no avail.)
The really annoying/bizarre aspect of this is that if I open Windows Task Manager and watch the Photoshop Memory usage it peaks and stays at 1,247,704K for about 1/1.5minutes during which I continue to get the above error message if I try to complete the Merge process.
However, if I wait and monitor this memory usage it starts to drop after said period to 1,003,612K after which the Merge process completes no problem??? (Memory usage by PS then drops to 770,384K)
Whilst I appreciate that my PC is no Ferrari..having to wait over a minute seems more than a little odd. Have I got something set wrong?
    All advice gratefully received......
    Many thanks!

    Hi Chris/Zeno
    Many thanks for the responses...
After more experimentation, I think I have solved this. If I set all three HDs as Scratch disks (which totals 2285GB!!!) and switch 'Enable OpenGL Drawing' OFF then I can merge as many RAW files as I like with no time delay..
Even with OpenGL Drawing switched to off, if I only have the internal HD set to be the Scratch disk, then I get the above error message which I would not have expected to see with 500+GB of free space???
    Anyway, it works now...
    Cheers

  • CS4 Crashes on Merge to HDR

When attempting to merge some larger images, PS seems to successfully load the images (a set of three in my case) and presents me with the window showing the images and PS's estimation of the relative EV. When I click on "OK" I get the following message:
    Error
Error 54: Uncaught JavaScript exception: Error #.
    Line 168
    ->                throw err;
    Can this be fixed?

Well, in trying to Merge to HDR Pro in CS5 with blank documents of 52758 x 10980 pixels, I was able to reproduce a similar fault.
I am still testing, but I noticed it didn't seem to be grabbing for a lot of RAM while it was running.  I had 4 GB or so free at the time of the fault.
On discussion with LambdaKettle offline, I have discovered he's developing 3 different sets of files and using Merge To HDR to get an HDR-like image out of a single set of exposures.
Sounds like the new CS5 function "HDR Toning" might be the cat's meow for this kind of large image work.
