PS CS5 & Epson V500 Scanner, HELP!

Is there a trick to get the Epson V500 Scanner to work with PS CS5? When I do a install of the Epson driver it does not come up in "Imports".

Did you install the optional TWAIN plugin (needed to interface with TWAIN drivers)?
Did you launch Photoshop in 32 bit mode (very few drivers are available for 64 bit)?
And don't forget that we made TWAIN optional because so many scanner drivers cause crashes.

Will Photoshop Elements 13 work with the Epson V500 on Windows XP and Windows 8?

    Hi,
I don't have a V500 but the data sheet for it says that it came with PSE 5 for Windows - unless they released a newer package.
PSE 13 will NOT run on Windows XP - you need Windows 7 or 8.1
PSE 13 doesn't support the Twain interface on 64bit systems and so is unlikely to support the V500.
The last release that might work for you is PSE 12 but keep in mind that there will not be any more updates for that version.
Your best bet is to download the trial version and test it on your system. If it works you might still be able to find PSE 12 for sale in some of the stores.
    Try: Download Photoshop Elements products | 13, 12, 11, 10

I have scanned photos using an Epson V500 scanner set to scan using jpeg format at the highest quality (least compression) setting.  When I try to import the scanned jpegs into iPhoto, I get an error message from iPhoto saying "The file is an unrecognized format."  But if I reduce the quality setting on the Epson scanner to just slightly below highest quality, the images import into iPhoto just fine.  Why won't iPhoto accept jpegs scanned at the highest quality setting?  Wondering?

What scanner format settings dis you use?  Are these color photos? If they are B/W did you scan as grayscale images?  That could be the problem.
Are you able to open them with Preview?  If so do a Save As, select full quality and save as a jpeg with a new file name.  See if that file will import and work as intended.

  • Epson V500 Scanner

I have a Epson V500 that I have used with Snow Leopard.
Now, that I have installed the Yosemite, and the software 'Epson Scan', that I use for scanning, cannot start any more. I assume that update is required for the scanning software.
I have checked the Epson website and installed the latest software, but I still can't get the 'Epson Scan' to run.
Is it possible that Epson has not made the appropriate update as yet?
    What can I do?
    Any advice would be appreciated.

Tried the recommendations but to no avail. I also looked at the Epson support site for the V500 and noticed that there were no listings for Yosemite. Anyways, I contacted Epson support and managed to get a honest answer for once - Epson haven't written the new drivers for the V500 yet. A somewhat disappointing result but one that I can live with and isn't it refreshing to hear the truthful answer rather than been given the runaround between Epson and Apple. I mean they both did spend a fair bit of time with me collectively to try and sort the issue but I would have been just as content with "Sorry Rob, but the drivers haven't been updated to Yosemite yet. We hope to have them available by (accurate date - even if some way off). Please keep looking at our web support page."

  • Epson CX5500 Scanner Help

I have an Epson Stylus CX5500 and have a fresh install of Mac OS X 10.6.8.
Printing is fine, but when I want to scan I get the error message "An error occured during scanning".
The drivers were default from Apple (ie. all I did was plug the scanner in and the drivers were ready installed).
Please help, I really want to be able to use my scanner!

Try scanning using the Image Capture app located in your Applications folder.

  • Photoshop Lightroom 2.3 Mac doesn't see Epson V500 scanner

Just installed all the drivers and software for my Epson Perfection v500 on my Mac running OSX 10.5.6 and Photoshop Lightroom 2.3 and the 'Import photos from device' option is greyed out - suggesting that Lightroom cannot detect the scanner.
The scanner is working fine via the Epson software, but that means scanning via this software and then seperately importing via Lightroom.
Any suggestions as to how to get the scanner detected by Lightroom?
    Thanks

Lightroom doesn't work that way. You can set up a watched folder and use auto import. http://bit.ly/md69L

  • Epson V500 scanner no longer able to create "PDF" file.

Epson tech support advised there is a conflict between the scanner and Adobe PDF maker. Everything worked great up to about 5 days ago when everything stopped.  Does Adobe have a "fix" or "patch" for this problem?  Thank you

  • Photoshop CS5 not working with my epson 1640xl scanner on Mac OS Lion

Just loaded CS5 on Mac 10.7.  I downloaded and installed the  latest OSX Epson 1640xl scanner software, and also copied the Twain plugin from the Adobe Goodies CD to the Photoshop > Plugins > Import/Export folder.
Rebooted the computer, power off and unplugged my USB scanner, fired it back up, restarted Photoshop, etc.   It no longer shows up in Photoshop>File>Import
But Photoshop doesn't see my scanner at all.  In fact, the TWAIN plugin doesn't even show up in the plugins folder list.
Little Help?  How do I fix this? Everything worked perfectly with Mac 10.6  I also took the scanner into a epson dealer and the scanner works perfectly.

That scanner is sort of old, and doesn't have a 64 bit driver.
As Noel said: use Photoshop in 32 bit addressing mode to work with older drivers and plugins.

  • How to add Epson Perfection V500 scanner to Photoshop CC import device list

How do I add an Epson Perfection V500 scanner to the "File-Import" list in Photoshop CC (64-bit)? I am using Windows 8.1 (64-bit).
Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

Vuescan has a 32/64 bit Twain driver and support for Photoshop CC. It supports 2500 scanners and the only one I know that supports 64 bit twain and it supports the Epson V500.
It is a paid solution, but you can try it out and see if you like it.
You can test drive it here www.hamrick.com
The problem with any Twain software is that it puts a hold on Photoshop until the scan is done.
Perhaps the best way is to let the Epson software scan and save to tiff while you are working.

  • Epson V500 Photo scanner wireless connection

I would like to make a wireless connection to my Epson V500 (Photo) scanner to my MacBook Pro running Mavericks. It is unclear if this is possible from the Epson side and on the MacBook Pro side the Scanner doesn't show up under Preferences>Sharing or Preferences>Printers & Scanners BUT I can scan from the laptop if connected by USB cable.
    Questions:
    A. Can the Epson V500 (Photo) be accessed wirelessly?
    B. If yes to above, how do I set this up on the MacBook?
    Thank you

    Hello,
I have a MacPro 1,1 running Lion 10.7.2.  Everything seems to be up to date via software update.  I have an Epson V500 Photo scanner (USB), and the system recognizes that...
I ran into a similar problem (loss of functionality) with an Epson 7600. I traced my problem to letting software update substitute its Epson drivers for what Epson had originally provided for the printer. It got worse when installing Lion. Fortunately, I expected that problem so I applied the updates to clones of the working installation, using both more recent Epson software for their long-abandoned printer and what came down with software update. Testing the clones showed me that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" so I stayed with the old installation, updating only the system software to 10.6.8.
You may face a further issue in that the working Epson software may have been at least partially written in code meant to run on a PPC Mac, not Intel, and Apple removed all support for that when moving from 10.6 to 10.7. That may be why Epson shows printer driver support only through 10.6 on its website.
One of the beauties of the Mac Pro is that you can have multiple HD drives with multiple partitions so there's plenty of room to do tests like that. But it really shouldn't be necessary...

  • Which scanner, Epson V500 or Canon CS8800F?

Thanks to all of the fine people on this forum, I have now narrowed my choice of scanners to one of two.
I have had my MacPro tower dual quad 8 for about two weeks. I have been a PC'er for more years than I care to think, but have now decided to concentrate on my photography and writing.
I want to scan in photos, and occasionally use OCR so I may scan in text (this might include scanning in documents that include text and graphics). I may want to scan slides, although I haven't done this before. With this in mind, and one other concern, the distance from my CPU to the scanner which will require 16' of USB 2.0 cable, and I read someplace that some scanners don't work if the USB cable is too long.
I have looked at both of the above scanners (Epson V500 and Canon CS8800F) and they seem to be similar, and am in a quandary about which way to go. Are there any of you out there that had the same problem, but were able to make a decision based on a particular, or group of things that made the decision easier?
I am running Leopard, but will upgrade to Snow Leopard when it comes out this September, would this be an issue with either one of these scanners?
Needless to say, and comments, suggestions and/or direction is greatly appreciated.

I just bought one this week but have not used it yet.
I researched on Amazon. I filtered the user reviews for Mac and obtained 31. Almost all reviews give high marks to the CS8800F.
There is a comprehensive review by T Meerloo "tmpix" (review #4 after filtering) dated 13 Apr 2008. Another good one by William Hatting "tech junki" (review #22) dated 2 Aug 2008.
Waldemar C Weber's comments dated 18 Sep 2008 (review #6) explains that there are 3 approaches to controlling scanner: via button on unit itself, using MP Navigator XP, and using Arcsoft Photostudio.
Annette M Fillion "annette" (review #29) explains 17 Aug 2009 that 2 or 3 extra steps are required to pass control from Photoshop to iPhoto.
Itsmeagain! (review #24) alerts us that scanner glass is made of optical grade plastic and that ammonia-based glass cleaner may damage it. The person searched on internet "cleaning scanner glass" for proper instructions.
I will report back after I actually used the unit.

  • Epson 836XL Scanner compatibility - HELP!

My wife's Mirrored Door G4 died on her a few months back and I got her a MacMini. It works great, but had no room for the SCSI card used to drive/connect her oversized Epson 836XL scanner. I tried to find a Mac SCSI to Firewire or SCSI to USB adaptor but none of them had 1) the proper pin configuration and 2) were supposedly only PC compatible.
I pulled the SCSI card out of her old computer and put it in mine. The computer recognizes it in PCI slot 5 as a SCSI Bus Controller so I'm pretty sure it is still working, even though her old computer motherboard was fried. Anyway, I hooked the scanner to my G4, installed the drivers and tried to use it but it the computer just doesn't seem to be seeing it. I know the scanner drivers were supposedly only good up through OSX 10.2.X but I would hope that it would still be usable under 10.3.9.
I even tried using the optional parallel port connector on the back of the scanner and hooking it up with a parallel to USB cable to my Mac but that didn't work either.
I'm about at my wits end. It worked fine on her G4 under 10.2.9. I would hope that it would work on my older computer even though my OS is a later version. It just doesn't seem to be able to be recognized by my computer. A new oversized scanner runs in the $1500 range and that is a bit more than we can spend.
    Anyone have any ideas?
Here is the SCSI card info, if it can be useful:
    Type: SCSI Bus Controller
    Bus: PCI
    Slot: SLOT-5
    Vendor ID: 0x9004
    Device ID: 0x5078
    Subsystem Vendor ID: 0x9004
    Subsystem ID: 0x7850
    Revision ID: 0x0003
Do I need a SCSI driver for the card maybe? Thanks.
    Graphite G4 733MHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Thanks Dave. You know what? I downloaded the trial version and believe it or not it worked! I didn't expect it to as I thought there was a connection issue, but the SCSI interface seems to work with VueScan. I was hoping I'd be able to get it to work with the Photoshop plug-in but I guess that is not to be.
Thanks so much for turning me on to this, you don't know how much time and $$$ you've saved me. It anyone knows if there any current drivers that will get it to work with Photoshop under 10.3.9 or higher, that would be great too.

    Hi,
You might try installing the trial version of
Vuescan. It says it supports your model scanner.

  • How to pair Cloud software with an Epson 545 Scanner/Printer? [was:Help!]

I have an Epson 545 Scanner/Printer. Recently I purchased a Creative Cloud 1 year program. However I cannot pair the 2 together which means that the Craeative Cloud Program is useless. What must I do to get them to work together?
    Bob

Calibrate the computer screen. You will need an external device to do this properly.
In Editor, go to Edit>Color settings and check "Optimize Colors for Computer Screens"
In Editor, go to File>print>More options (lower left on the dialog)>Color Management Tab>Color Handling drop-down - select "Printer Manages Colors". Under Rendering Intent, select "Relative Colorimetric"

  • How do l get Bridge CS5 to recognise scanner ?

Hi again good people of Adobe Bridge Fora.
I have installed CS5 Production Premium Suite this afternoon onto a new C drive 600GB HDD, with Win 7 x64 (used Vista for a few years with CS4 Production Premium so using the same hardware) Everything went well including the updates for Bridge, PP & Photoshop. I was checking to see if hardware like printers and scanners were working after the install of Win 7 when l went to Bridge to scan from there when l noticed that the option to scan was not available. The Twain files have been installed in the windows directory and l can start the scanner software outside of Bridge without problem, do l have to copy any files over myself to the Bridge directory to get the scanner to operate from there. The scanner is an Epson V700 Photo l used the latest drivers from Epson for Win 7/Vista.
Thanks for any help you may give.

I have the same problem with my Epson V700 scanner, and I understood your response to the original posting. But I'd like to know if I have an option to install the Epson twain driver into Photoshop CS5, and if so, how do I do that? Epson tells me that this can no longer be done automatically, but they imply there is way to do it manually.

  • Image Capture is not recognizing my Epson Stylus Scanner 2000

I have an Epson Stylus Scanner 2000 printer that scans, prints, copies and fax. I faithfully used these fetures in my home-based buisness with my G3 until I traded for a Mac Pro. I can print without a glitch, no problems there. How can I scan and fax??? I've been the the Epson website and didn't see my printer on the list of updates and recognized printers for OS 10.x. What can I do??? I need to keep my printer (which is in excellent working condition). Help me to scan and fax please...

You need Intel or Universal Binary drivers, which it seems Epson doesn't offer. What I use to use for my scanner (and still do actually) is VueScan. But I did end up buying a $79 Canon LiDE 70 eventually.
    http://hamrick.com
Epson Stylus 2000 is listed there as supported.
    http://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/vuescan.htm#epson
A lot of older printers are supported by CUPS or GuttenPrint so take a look there (avoid the latest beta driver though).
