PS CS5 failing to launch. Please help.

So, I've done a lot to try and resolve this already, to no avail. So here's the list of what hasn't worked yet, and here's the confusing part, it launches completely fine and normally if I log in as another user on the same machine.
updated patch
trashed preferences
manually removed prefs
removed plugins
cleared system cache
cleared font caches
and then I reinstalled all three of the apps affected. InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. All the rest of my CS apps open fine.
Still nothing. All of them still open fine when I log in as my other user.. my neighbors account actually. But I need to figure this out.
The fail always happens during launch, but at different points. after a reboot, it always seems to fail near the end, like initializing AXE, or shard components. But after that it will always fail on measuring memory, of which I have 12 gbs and I just did ram tests and it's functioning perfectly.
What the hell am I missing here? So confused. I figured the reinstall would do the trick. Can someone please point me to all locations of user specific preference files?

Common causes of a hang on launch: bugs in third party plugins (disble them), corrupt fonts on the system (remove them), bugs in system drivers (printer, scanner, video card), file system issues (disk damage), corrupt application or system installs.
If it works under another user, then it is something about your Photoshop or system preferences.
I'd look at things like the default printer, or fonts added to your main user folder.

Quicktime Pro Has Failed To Launch - PLEASE HELP

I spent $31 and purchased Quicktime Pro so that I could put together a video with music of my time here in Beijing.
However, I can't even seem to get Quicktime Pro to launch.
Am I missing something here? I entered in the code on my Quicktime control pannel and it tells me that I have Quicktime Pro, but other than that there is nothing to indicate that I have anything other than regular ol' Quicktime.
Is there some kind of button I need to push or should it have changed to Quicktime Pro automatically.
This is very vexing to me and I would appreciate any help anyone can provide. Thanks!

Again, thanks. I'm getting the hang of the editing part, but am now uncertain as to how to add the music to the videos I've strung together.
Must the song I want to put on it be exactly equal to the length of the movie?
Is there anyway to just have part of the song play?
Isn't there just a drag and drop function like on Windows Movie Maker in which the length of the video will determine how much of the song will be played?
I'm still confused as to how the actual process works. I understand all of the Select All and Copy and Paste. I just don't know where to copy the music so I can paste it on top, or where to go about doing that.

I just updated my Mac to Mavericks. Adobe Photoshop CS5 fails to launch. How can I update to the latest version of Adobe Photoshop? What should I check in my configuration to get things working?

CS5 runs on Mavericks. At least it does on my Mini.

CS5 failing to launch

My CS5 is failing to launch! I tried to export a file from Lightroom 4 and it just doesn't launch. Then I get the Adobe Application Manager launching, but nothing happens. I can't quit it, so I then force quit it.
I've uninstalled & reinstalled the software to no avail. I'm over it.
Can anybody help pleeeeeeeease???

Well, I'm no tech-head I must admit, I'm just a travel photographer who uses his Macs & software to get my work off to my editors. The problems I'm having are on my new Macbook Pro 15" retina, running 10.8.2. I'm using Lightroom 4 and shoot with Canon 5D MKII's. I've never had an issue with exporting out of LR into PS, until yesterday.
So now when attempting to edit a copy in PS it's piping up with this "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 could not be launched."
Then this appears "this version of Lightroom may require the Photohop Camera Raw plug-inversion 7.2 for full compatibility". I'd like to be able to change it in the PS help but it won't launch anymore. All I'm getting is a one bounce of the PS icon in the menu, then the "Adobe Application Manager" kicks in. I can't quit it manager and have to force quit it.
Now, it's got to have something with the updates surely? There's a .1 added to the CS5, and there's the update to LR4.2.
Come on guru's, help me sort this **** out. What do I need to do???

ID CS5 fails to launch, sometimes

I have Windows 7 x64 SP1 and I am trying out InDesign CS5. It is fully patched up to date.
I have no problem starting CS5 the first time I try to use it after a reboot of the OS. (However, if I close it any other way other than File>Exit, it crashes on shutdown)
When I try to launch ID the second time, the taskbar icon flashes but the splashscreen does not appear and the software does not launch. However, if I start Task Manager, I find that there is an InDesign.exe process running. (If I tried to start it more than once, there will be several instances of InDesign.exe).
The only way I can get InDesign to launch is to either reboot the computer or use 'Run As Administrator' from the context menu of the ID shortcut.
I have tried resetting preference files (following http://forums.adobe.com/thread/526990) but it makes no difference.
I do not have 'Trusteer Rapport' installed, which I notice can also cause ID to fail to launch.
Any ideas?

Based on the spalsh screen message it looks like there could be a problem with a plugin. Do you have any third-party plugins installed?
I also notice that you haven't run the updater yet, so go to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4567 and dowload the 6.0.4 patch and install it. Maybe you'll get lucky and that will be all it takes.
That looks like XP. Is that correct?

PSE 8 Editor will not launch-Please HELP!

I purchased PSE 8 and installed it to my computer, which meets all system requirements.
After everything was installed, I opened and Adobe ID account. When the welcome screen appears and I click on "Edit" the screen says "Launching Editor" for about 3 seconds, stops, and then nothing happens. I read the "Read Me" section that comes with the software and it mentions a problem with the Editor Launcher having trouble initializing. The instructions are to click "Edit" from the welcome screen, then click SHIFT+ALT+CTRL (or whatever order, I've tried everything) and then click "YES" for rebuilding editor launching preferences. Well, when I click "Edit" and SHIFT+ALT+CTRL, NOTHING happens!!!! I don't get any kind of response.
I have unistalled, reinstalled... I am so frustrated. I have used PSE 3 in the past and have never had any trouble. I have already wasted 2 hours on this program and I haven't even used it!

Since you have used an IP in the EM's URL, there can be one more possibility besides this that the EM service has been stopped(as suggested by others already) . It may be a reason that EM service is not up because the IP address has been changed due to a machine reboot. As 9/10 times, the IP addresses are assigned via DHCP on home laptops and desktops, if this IP address is no longer there, the EM service won't be up. But before we shall come to know about this that whether this is indeed the reason, try the command-emctl status dbconsole and if it says, not running EM, emctl start dbconsole. Post the output of the commands.

Update failed on E71 Please help me

Some hours ago I decided to update the software my Nokia e71. I downloaded OVI, and it said that a new software was available for my phone (v 500.x.x.x), and i clicked to install it. After OVI downloaded the update it started to update (al least thats what was written there) but after 5 minutes it said it could not connect to the phone (but the connection was OK) and i clicked retry but after 5 min. the same thing happened again, so i clicked cancel and it said that the phone will not be updated, i clicked yes and now nokia wont turn anymore on (it just vibrates went i push the power button + black screen and after 5 sec it turns off). I've done all what's written here /t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/Recovering-from-a-failed-firmware-update/m-p/398147 and here /t5/Software-Updates/Update-failed-on-my-N73/m-p/127651#M14143 but no success . This Issue is happening because of the reserved keyword presence in database link name(orcl1.XXX.co.in). The name (orcl1.XXX.co.in) contains the reserved keyword "IN". To fix this problem, database global name must be changed.
Step1: Change the global database name on both nodes:
Change the global database name on ggnidm86:
SQL> alter database rename global_name to orcl1.XXX.co.ind
Change the global database name on ggnidm87:
SQL>alter database rename global_name to orcl2.XXX.co.ind
Step2: As the domain name is getting changed, so initialization parameter file
(i.e spfileORCL1.ora/initORCL1.ora) must have the correct "db_domain" parameter on both the nodes. Ensure that domain name is changed to "XXX.co.ind" on both the nodes.
Once above two steps are done, you can go ahead with remtool -asrsetup command.

ITunes is failing to start, Please Help!

Ok, I am having trouble opening up iTunes. First, when I clicked on the icon to start iTunes, a window came up saying, "The procedure entry point OpenServiceW could not be located in the dynamic link library MPlugin.dll." I didnt know how to fix this, so I posted a message on the 'Using iTunes for Windows' on the Discussion board. The reply that I recieved was "Delete MPlugin.dll from C:/Program Files/iTunes/Plugins/" I did that, and now, when I try to start iTunes, it says, "This application has failed to start because MPlugn.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." Im not sure if it is telling me to re-install iTunes, or if i should repair iTunes.... I have no clue. Please help!

I'll post the same thing I posted in another thread; it might help you. Reinstall itunes again according to my post. Some of the information is irrelevant to your problem, but hey, i'm kinda feeling lazy and don't want to edit it. You'll get the idea. Here it is.....
"this is just a suggestion. If you reinstall itunes again, make sure you follow the directions in the support section of this site for uninstalling itunes and quicktime. Another thing they don't say in that article that I did when i had to uninstall itunes was to do a search. You know, pressing the start button and then "Search". Make sure when you do, click the search "All files and folders". Then set it to look in "Local Hard Drives (C:)" or "My Computer"; i'm not sure which search will pop up your itunes files. Try them both. And then type in the "all or part of the file name" box, itunes. After the search is done you should have a bunch of different itunes components in the results. Btw do the same for quicktime as a search. Make sure to DELETE every itunes and quicktime file there. If some of your music files happened to come up in the search, use commone sense. Get rid of every component so itunes and quicktime is completely erased from the system. Make sure that you do this after you've already restarted your computer once (according, to the uninstallation article). Then just empty your recycle bin, reboot your computer, and finally reinstall itunes. Good luck and ask me anything if you have some questions!!"

Adobe Flash Fails To Work, Please Help

I am currently having an issue with Adobe Flash Player. I have Done all that i know i can on my own and am reaching out for help. ill explain what i have done but let me first give some information about my computer:

So instead of clicking the link I went directly to the Adobe website and updated my Flash Player. Went Back to Youtube and was still having the same issue with the same message. It was late so i gave up until today. I have been trying to fix this for two days now. What i have done is a "clean" Uninstall and a Reinstall over and over. I have searched numerous sites looking for a troubleshoot for Adobe. All I found was a download for Uninstalling the program from my computer to do a "clean install". Which was from Adobe. I have done this proces of removing Adobe from my computer and reinstalling it over i cant tell you how many times. It says it has installed correctly.. but if thats so then it should work, am i right?
What i dont understand is if i have completly removed Adobe Flash Player Along with Reader and reinstalled Both To my computer and Started Fresh.. then why am i still not able to watch video's on Youtube or do things that would use Adobe Flash Player. Please Help =(

Hi, well you certainly are having a hard time with this. I wish you would have came to the forum sooner so you wouldn't have had to go thru all of that.
It is getting late here in my time zone, but I'll give you Uninstall/Install info. A couple of things. You must use the Administrator Account. If you received any error message when Installing Flash Player before, then that would be important.
If not, then you can proceed with this.
Download the Uninstaller and SAVE it to your Desktop:

Download the Installer and SAVE it to your Desktop:
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
(Use the one for Windows, Internet Explorer, the EXE Installer.
A window will open and you will choose SAVE and the location when asked will be your Desktop.
Then Close all browser windows, you only want to be looking at your Desktop.
Use the Administrator Account.
Disable any messenger services that are in your system tray(area near the clock)
If you have Norton or McAfee Anti-Virus, you may want to disable them. Also after running the Uninstaller, check and make sure they are still disabled before running the Installer. Avast usually don't interfere, nor MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials)
Open and Run the Uninstaller and when it's finished, Reboot.
Open and Run the Installer and when it's finished, Reboot.
Go here to test: You should be able to see the Flash logo animate(spin) and the version of Flash Player will be displayed.

Safari Will NOT Launch- Please help!

Hi- I have a clean install Leopard (all updates too) on my new Macbook Pro. Just started today:
When I click on Safari the dot underneath the Safari on the dock shows and Safari shows at the top (menus), but no window comes up and when I put my mouse cursor at the top where the menus are, I get the beachball. When I right-click Safari, it shows "application not responding"
I have rebooted and I have done a repair permissions...

You have to be a little more careful in the Terminal as spelling errors might actually spell disaster (like removing your whole home folder).
But if you want to have a play around and learn some useful commands, then I recommend CLIX:

App Store not launching, please help.

I have just bought a new imac (i7) and have migrated all my stuff from my Mac Book Pro (i7)
All seems to be working fine but I am unable to use App Store.
The Icon tells me there is three updates but when I try to launch it keeps quiting or just fails to launch.
Works fine on all my other devices.
