PS CS5 Migration

I am moving from a Win 7 machine to a newer Win 7 machine.  I am currently running PS CS5 and Bridge on the latest versions. Is their a checklist somewhere that can be used to help migrate over all my actions, gradients, brushes, etc that I have modified once I have re-installed the CS5 onto the new machine?
Bob

Assuming you have access to both systems for a while, you should be able to activate Photoshop on the new machine (assuming you've only activated it once) and run it in both places, which can be handy for ensuring you have made the same preference choices.  Even if you can't activate it on the new one until you've deactivated it on the old one, you can run it on the new one in 30 day free trial mode.
I would recommend against replacing most of the preferences files (instead you should configure the new installation directly), but here are the locations of all the preferences and other files Photoshop uses:

When you're fully migrated off the old machine, don't forget to go into Photoshop on the old machine and choose Help - Deactivate...

  • Adobe Suite: Master Collection CS5 Migration Issues

I just fresh installed OS X Yosemite on my Macbook Pro 2008 model, and then migrated my applications, including an activated Adobe Suite: Master Collection CS5 product. Everything seemed fine, but this morning, whenever I open one of the programs, Adobe complains that the serial number is "not valid" for the product. How do I resolve this issue? Should I revert to my old time machine backup?

Oh. One more thing. I realize I did not deactivate the product on the backup. Could that be the issue?

  • Recovering Dreamweaver 3 preference and site info, ultimately migrating to cs5.5 on Windows XP

I had a hard drive failure in windows xp and have reinstalled windows xp and dreamweaver 3.  I have a backup of all my dreamweaver 3 files from the old machine, for example &sitename.dws, &sitename Changed.txt, &sitename Live.dws, &sitename Changed.txt.  I would like to have all my preferences, ftp info, etc. restored but cannot find any documentation on how to do that in Dreamweaver 3.
I tried replacing the following files with the backup versions:
    C:\Progam Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver3\Configuration\SiteCache
    C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver3\Configuration\SourceFormat.txt
as these were the only files I saw that appeared to have been modified by using Dreamweaver on the XP machine before the drive failure.
Is there any Dreamweaver 3 documentation about the names of preferences files, site files, and how to replace the default install files with backed up versions?
All help is sincerely appreciated as I have not been able to figure this out on my own.  I considered just replacing all the DW install files with my backup, but that would probably mess up the registry and I can't chance that.
Ultimately I will be moving to CS5.5--if I ever get my backed up information into my newly installed Dreamweaver 3, is there a way to migrate those preferences, site info, etc. to CS5.5?

Murray 'ACP', you are correct--DW3 does not have the option to back up to *.ste files, so I believe that pzciena is correct in stating that site information in DW3 is found in the registry and I can't recover that using files from my drive backup.  The reason I asked the question is because I am having trouble when using the FTP "Put" function to FTP files over to my website. The "Put" operation creates a subdirectory to the root file on the host.
The host directory is named "web" and I specify /web in my dreamweaver remote host site definition.  The "Put" operation creates a subdirectory using the same name as my local files subdirectory.  That is, on the local side, the file I am "put"ting is in subdirectory /hostsave and when it FTPs to the remote side, it creates a directory named "hostsave".  I deleted that directory on the remote side and tried FTPing a second time and it created the directory again.  This does not happen if I use Ipswitch to FTP the file, but I would prefer using the file transfer within dreamweaver since it checks to make sure I'm ftping all the image files in the .html file I'm PUTting.
I obviously have not re-created something correctly in redefining my site.  ????

  • I've Just migrated my mac to a new iMac and CS5 is dead

I've Just migrated my mac to a new iMac and CS5 is dead, I can't uninstall it or do anything with it. When I try to load an application it just crashes (I'm guessing because it needs registering on my new machine) and I can't uninstall it.
I've been using CS5 for the past three years, and contemplating getting Creative Cloud. The problem is, it looks like I didn't every properly register CS5 with my Adobe ID, the software package was a download from a thrid party seller, and the email account the sent all the registration info to is no longer in use. . .
When I try to use Application Manager to uninstall it just tells me I need application manager and gives me a link to Adobe's website to download it. I download it, install it, try again, same result, tells me I need to download it. . .
    Frustrating.
Any help greatly appreciated, I'm currently completely stuck!

    Reinstall properly.

  • Migrating settings, actions, plug-ins etc. from CS5 to CS6 (Creative Cloud)

    Hi,
I wondered if someone could help me with the transition from CS5 to CS6 (Creative Cloud). I'm on a Mac with Mountain Lion.
I would like to migrate as many settings (i.e. workspaces where relevant), personal Photoshop actions, plug-ins (i.e. Type DNA, FontShop [Photoshop], Scriptographer [Illustrator] and Blurb Template Creator [InDesign]) as possible from CS5 to CS6. What is the easiest and smoothest way to do this?
Some settings, actions and plug-ins might not work with CS6, I don't know. I can't find where my Photoshop actions are archived atm.
Can I import extensions from Adobe Extension Manager CS5 to Adobe Extension Manager CS6?
Should I uninstall all CS5 apps? I'd like to keep InDesign CS5 for backwards compatibility at least.
Does Audition completely replace Soundbooth? What about Flash Catalyst, Device Central and OnLocation?
Edit: I have already installed all the Creative Cloud applications btw. But I haven't uninstalled any CS5 apps yet.
    Thanks,
    Eivind

    Hi Elvind,
I would suggest keeping both CS5 and CS6 versions on the system until you are fully transitioned, longer if you want. When you launch Photoshop CS6 it will ask you if you want to import settings from the prior version. Third party plug-ins may or may not be compatible between versions so you might need to check with the manufacturer to find out. You would most likely need to reinstall any third party plug-ins that integrate into existing Adobe product installations though.
I found this document for Photoshop CS6
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preset-migration-photoshop-cs6.htm l
For the PS actions, I normally open the actions panel, highlight the actions set (folder) I wanted to migrate, from the flyout menu of the panel choose the option to save the set, this creates the .atm file. There is another option for importing actions in the same menu.
I can't speak to migrating in relation to the other products. I would recommend posting in the respective product forums.

I am retired.  In my active years, I purchased Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard and Dreamweaver CS5 for my Windows environment.  I recently spent a fortune to migrate to  Apple.  I now (and a bite late) realize that my licenses are not recognized by Adobe. I am desperate. I cannot afford the expense of buying or paying access to the software and, still,  I need the tools for all those little things I do for enjoyment. What can be done?

The licenses are operating system specific, so one option would be to retain use of the Windows machine you had before the Mac.
If you want to try to use the older stuff on your new Mac you can try installing Windows emulation software such as Bootcamp.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Adobe software is conflictive when you use Migration Assistant because their applications don't work properly after migration. If you keep the DVDs or the installers of your software, use them to reinstall all your Adobe applications and they should start working correctly

  • Adobe Flash IDE: Migration/Compatibility issues between Adobe Flash Professional CS3 and CS5

    Hi,
Adobe Flash IDE: Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe Flash Professional CS5
I am facing some  migration/compatibility issues between Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe  Flash Professional CS5:
I am working on a project that has  been completely developed in CS3 earlier. When I am using CS5 (Flash Player 9 /  Flash Player 10) to compile the FLA files, it is creating some new issues like  some customized radio buttons are getting disappeared while viewing the SWF on a  web page etc.
So, I would like to  know:
    1) Is there any  migration/compatibility issue between Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe  Flash Professional CS5?
    2) If yes: Is there any patch  available from Adobe for it?
    3) If no: What could be the causes  and the best possible solutions for it?
Any help and support would be highly  appreciated. Many thanks in advance!
    Thanks & Regards

Can someone help me? My icons are missing after migrating dreamweaver cs5.5 using migration assistance on a mac. I have no idea how to fix this...

Migration Assistant is not recommended for transferring DW to another system.
Uninstall DW in full and do a fresh re-install of DW from the installer (either CD/ DVD or a .DMG file).

  • Migrate Bridge CS5 Collections to CS6

Is there an easy way to migrate collections from Bridge CS5 to CS6?  Or do I need to create them all again?
    Any help will be appreciated.

So is mine today. I have no idea what's going on. Bridge 6 migrated my custom workspaces, my keyword list and yesterday my collections were visible. Went into 6 today, workspaces are still there and usable as is my entire keyword list I was building in 5 for my scans but hadn't applied yet, but no collections. Only explanation is I'm going nuts.
I'm sure they were there yesterday, because they worked much faster then the collections in 5. I'll keep playing and see if I can duplicate what I saw yesterday.

  • Question: How do I open CS5.5 after migrating to new laptop w/ Mac OS 10.8.4?

question: How do I open CS5.5 after migrating to new laptop w/ Mac OS 10.8.4? I received a dialogue box stating I needed to run Java SE runtime (or something to that effect), when I ok'd it, and try to open cs5.5 Indesign, the program quits on startup. If I uninstall program & reinstall, will my documents be unscathed, or are they toast? Help!

    Hi Art Bunny Rabbit,
Migration from one machine to other causes problem most of the time. So I recommend you to reinstall the software. Done worry none of your documents will be effected.

  • Migrating a Mac license of CS5 Master Collection to a PC

Hi all. I've got a box copy of the CS5 master collection and a Mac that is old and failing quickly. I was required to purchase this computer for college and it has seen much use. Macs are expensive and a new one is not something I have the funds to allocate to. I'm going to be building a PC tower (boo, I know ) because I can get the most bang for my buck that way, and as I am one of those "starving artists" I don't have multiple hundreds of dollars to spend on a new license on top of the money it will cost to build a new work computer for myself. The cloud stuff isn't really an option either.
But I digress, my question is whether it's possible to migrate a Mac license of the suite to a PC (removing the programs from the Mac in the process)?
Apologies if this has been asked already. I was not able to find an answer in my Googling or searching of the Adobe forum (just ones pertainting to PC to Mac migrations). Thanks.

Boxed versions of Adobe products usually comes with cross platform applications and serial numbers.  This being the case, have you got the disks for windows in the box you bought?  If so then yes it is possible to install it on your new machine with those disks and serial number.
You can deactivate the product from Apple Mac and install and activate on your new Pc.  Please also note that you are allowed to install the product on two machines - laptop and a desktop but most people install it on two laptops or two desktops or laptop and a desktop.
    Hope this helps.

I migrated everything from my Snow Leopard iMac to my new Lion iMac and now when I launch anything in CS5 like Photoshop the Adobe Manager pops up and wants my serial numbers or to start a trial version. I don't have my CS5 serial numbers but wouldn't they migrate over with everything else?

but wouldn't they migrate over with everything else?
Are these PowerPC apps that ran on Rosetta with Snow Leopared?

  • How to migrate CS5 customizations to CS6?

I just installed several apps from Creative Cloud, and they installed alongside my CS5 apps.  But none of the customizations were migrated (menus, keymapping, colorcoding, etc).
Is there a tool to do this?  Is it safe to just copy the configuration XMS files fro m CS5 to CS6?

Thanks, Dave.  With LOTS of trial and error (I am on Windows 7) I found that after repeatedly running DW and FW "as Administrator", and uninstalling the CS5 version of those 2 apps I was able to get most customizations installed.  It was partly manual edits to "Preferences", and partly just copying some of the configuration XML files.
I like what I see thus far in CS6, but have reported 1 DW CS6 bug as well, so unfortunately I'm planning a drop in productivity until the kinks get identified and resolved.
