PS CS5 Ruler and zoom

Hi,
When using Ctrl+ or Ctrl - to zoom the ruler is not always resizing. This does not happen in CS4 (the rulers resize with the image). I have downloaded the latest drivers (NVidia) for my graphics card but the problem still remains. I am using windows Vista.
I can get round the problem by pressing Ctrl R twice (to remove then re-display the ruler) at which point it sizes correctly, but this is a bit of a nuisance. Any ideas?
Dave

So far no-one able to help, so a little more information from experimenting may identify the issue (or if anyone else has the problem).
The problem i.e. the ruler not resizing with zoom (Ctrl +  and Ctrl -), occurs when "Resize windows to fit" is not checked in the zoom tool.
Changing from 16.7% zoom to 25% zoom, and vice versa, the ruler does resize with the image but beyond those sizes the ruler does not change until I press Ctrl R twice to undisplay and re-display the ruler.
Using the buttons to zoom, going from "Fit Screen" to "Actual Pixels" changes the ruler. But going from "Fill Screen to Actual Pixels" the ruler shows the same scale as it did in "Fill Screen" even though the image has changed.
Checking the "Resize Windows to fit" box in the zoom tool results in the ruler changing correctly with the image as it is zoomed. However I lose the smooth zoom transition. No big loss and my current workaround for the problem.
This is only happening in CS5 - in CS4 the ruler works correcly.
Any ideas pointing toward correcting the issue would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

  • CS5 Ruler and straighten tool

    I had been working on a large amount of photos using the ruler and straighten tool with no problems. Then, with no reason that I could determine, although the images were still being straightened, they were no longer being cropped. I would very much appreciate it if anyone has a solution for this. I know I can still crop manually with the crop tool but it's so much more time consuming.
    Thanks in advance.

    That's what would happen if you were holding down the Alt key
    when pressing the straighten button, so unless your holding the alt key or the alt key
    is stuck or being stolen by another program, resetting the photoshop cs5
    preferences would seem in order.
    Reset the photoshop preferences by holding down the Alt+Ctrl+Shift keys while starting
    photoshop and release the keys when a dialog appears asking to delete the
    photoshop settings file, click yes.

  • Photoshop CS5.1 and Lion Server (MacMini Mid 2011)

    Hello community,
    I have a very big problem using Photoshop CS5.1 (Mac Mini Server-Edition Mid 2011, Lion 10.7.2) - there are several mouse-pointer issues when I try to work with brushes or stamps. Depending on the size of the brush it's not shown the correct way. The icon does not show the brush itself and when I try to use the brush the mouse pointer is not the center of the brush but the uper left corner. If I zoom into the image it's possible that the same brush is working the way it should be but if I zoom out the brush does not work again. The issue seems to depend on brush size and zoom-factor of the image.
    My idea for better understanding of the problem was to record the screen activity with QuickTime. I did but as I watched the recorded photoshop activity looked perfect (allthough it did not as I recorded the actions). Now I recorded the screen activity with a movie camera, just to show, what's wrong here. Please excuse the not so perfect video quality...
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzLJFDOWLWo
    It's annoying.
    Very similar problem in Lightroom, mouse pointer do not work the correct way depending on brush size (brish icon is not shown in image depending on size).
    Adobe does not offer support for the Server-Edition. Apple does not allow to install 10.6 on Mac Mini Mid 2011 (on my MBP Early 2011 PS CS 5.1 runs without such problems). Something's going wrong here.
    I need a solution, Photoshop CS5.1 is not useable under 10.7.2 Server. Anyone may help?
    Thank you.
    André

    Hello Doug,
    thank you for your answer. First of all: Adobe says that it's an Apple problem. Apple says that I'm not allowed to install any other OS than Lion Server on my machine - even the "normal" Lion OS seems to be not allowed.
    For me as a customer this situation is not very satisfying - I try to run a 1500$ software suite on a 1000$ Apple computer and it does not work, but nobody even tries to solve this issue. Adobe offers no support, Apple offers no bug fixes.
    This problem, btw, also appears when a MacBook Air is used. Even some MacBook Pros seem to be unable to run Phootshop CS5.1 under Lion. For me this does not look like an Lion server-issue.

  • IPAD3 PINCH AND ZOOM

    Ok working my first ipad 3 rendision. Have a Pinch and Zoom or pan and zoom box and on the ipad3 its not allowing me to zoom in vary far? I have the asset at 4000x4000 px?

    You'll get that behavior when you use a 1024x768 source document for the pan and zoom and create a 2048x1536 folio. When you're doing that, you'll want to scale the image by 50% so that the effective ppi is 144 pixels (the Info panel shows the image's effective ppi). (By the way, the upcoming v23 release will offer more options for this situation.)
    From the Pan & Zoom help topic:
    As a general rule, make sure that the image has the exact dimensions you want to use. For example, to pan a 1024-by-1024 pixel image within a 200-by-200 pixel view area, create a 1024-by-1024 image in 72 ppi. However, if you are using 1024x768 source documents in a 2048x1536 folio, using 72 ppi images can result in a different initial view experiences on different iPad models. One approach is to use layers to create different pan & zoom overlays for the different iPad sizes. Another approach is to scale the image by at least 50% so that the effective ppi is at least 144. That way, the initial view behavior remains identical, although the iPad 3 pan and zoom has a more restricted view area.

    Recently my CS5 illustrator and Photoshop are not responding frequently. keep crashing. Any solution?
    Thanks,

    Hi Mylenium,
    My imac processor 2.66GHZ intel core i5
    Memory 8G 1067MHz DDR3
    Mac OS X 10.7.5 (Lion)
    When I try to launch CS5 illustrator, sometime it is not responding. It also happen after I launched illustrator and I was just doing some basic design, change type and zoom in and out.
    If I opened both CS5 illustrator and photoshop, while I was working on illustrator and when it start not responding, photoshop also become not responding and vice versa.
    I hope this information is adequate for you and troubleshoot for me what's wrong with my mac.
    Thanks

  • Re CS5 Ruler tool has stopped functioning. How can I correct this problem?

    Re CS5 Ruler tool has stopped functioning. How can I correct this problem?

    First try re-setting the Ruler Tool from the tool's fly-out menu.
    If that doesn't do it, then trash and recreate Photoshop preferences.
    If you had at least indicated your platform, I could be more specific, but here it goes anyway:
    To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
    For next time you post:

  • Pan and Zoom not working or publishing. Help!

    Did a "paste into" with a text block into a shape.  The Pan and Zoom function is grayed out.  It does show if I paste into with an image, but not text or other shapes, etc.
    Also, on my iPad I have the latest content viewer app, but when I publish and download I get a message on my iPad that says I need the latest version.  This only happens on my computers at school.  Anything I published from home works fine.  I also have the pan and zoom function at home.
    I have all of the latest versions.  1.9.1, CS5.5.2, and the latest app on the iPad.
    I even tried a reformat, install OS, CS5.5, updates then latest producer tools and folio builder and still have had no luck.  Very frustrating. Anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks!

    Hi Bob, wow quick reaction!
    I am trying to create a scrollable frame for my iPad presentation.
    First created blank frame, then a larger textbox, cut the textbox, pasted it into the smaller frame. When I go to the 'Overlay Creator' and open 'Pannen en zoomen' (Dutch for pan and zoom), all options are grey and not selectable.
    I watched many tutorial, all explaining the same, seems so easy, but I guess I'm doing something wrong, or maybe I have an old version.
    See screenshots.
    I tried different selections of the containerbox (with open and closed arrow, frame box, container box), but that doesn't seem to make any difference.
    I also just downloaded the 'AdobeDigitalPublishingPatch-All' for any updates, but still not working.
    Many thanks in advance!

  • Pan and Zoom with APP CS 5.5

    Good morning,
    I am a new user of APP ( previously I used Avid Studio). I am looking for the feature "Pan and Zoom" with panoramic pictures, up to 360°. With Avid Studio this feature is very simple and included as a standard video effect, but what with APP CS 5.5 ?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Sincerely,

    HIi Jeff,
    Many thanks for your very prompt assistance and answer to my question.
    I shall try in the next future and I shall inform you.
    I apologize in advance if I remain silent for sometime.

  • Pan and Zoom, not working on Ipad 2

    Hello,
    Im having trouble getting a "pan only" to work on an image, on Ipad 2, it works fine when I preview it on my Mac, but when I go to double check it and preview it on my Ipad 2, tapping the image does nothing but bring up the preview app menu, and page srubber bar (the thing that lets you scrub page left and right).
    All Im doing is creating a container/frame and inserting an image within that, its no bigger than 1024 by 1024, and selecting pan only. The magazine its self scrolls left and right. Like I said, it has no issue being previewed on a Mac, the trouble is on Ipad 2.
    Am I doing something wrong? If so, is there a tutorial (in book form?) other than videos(where there is no trouble shooting)?
    Thanks in advance.
    Im using Indesign cs5.5 if that helps...

  • Hand tool and zoom resume

    I apologize for this easy looking question,  but neither the documentation nor my own tests seem to point me to a clear answer.
    I have a waveform graph and I am using the zoom and hand tool on the graph palette.
    1. After applying the hand tool, how can I resume to the original graph?
    2. I zoom a part of the graph more than one time consecutively, let's say twice. After the secodn zoom, I would like to resume to the result of the first zoom.
    The same way in which generally the zoom-in and zoom-out functionalities work.
    On the graph palette, the left bottom icon of the zoom functions, offer just the possibility to resume to the initial version of the graph.
    I couldn't find a way to achieve an incremental zoom-out as described above?
    Is there any?
    Thank you!
    MG.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    1) Use the Zoom to Fit
    2) You will need to programatically make this.  When you zoom in, store the X and Y scale data (max and min).  You can then make a button to go back to the previous zoom by then setting the scale data with the values you stored.
    There are only two ways to tell somebody thanks: Kudos and Marked Solutions

  • Does Premier Pro CS5 have Pan & Zoom for VIDEO ?

    Have been looking for a straight answer on this and all I find is a bunch of stuff about still image effects in Premiere Pro using key frames.
    Just dropped a lot of coin on Master Collection CS5 and trapped for a time in Premier Pro CS4 because I now have to buy a new 64Bit platform; No matter because I'm really impressed with what Adobe is doing across the board. Lord knows I could be missing something right in front of me.
    The question here is will I find a standard pan and zoom capability - FOR VIDEO NOT IMAGES - in Premiere Pro CS5 when I finally spend ALL of my disposable income or should I just stick with my $100 Sony Vegas NLE on my 32Bit platform ;-)
    On a related note, how can you have a VIDEO editor of consequence without pan and zoom ? Am I the only one who find this curious ? Is this issue like the crazy aunt in the attic that no-one wants to talk about ?

    Look before you leap in with an ill informed opion.
    A little more hands on time and maybe breaking out the help or manual files would have lead you to the discovery of what Colin pointed out.
    You will discover a world of power and tricks within the CS5 applications.  Not all are immediately evident but they become fundamental and instinctive after a bit of time.  Many of us can still be shown a trick or two after many years with the apps.  Colin B. is a source of many of them.

    Nope. Be a great feature. For that I use FotoMagico after exporting JPEG's from LR.

  • Need help: BufferedImage and zooming

    please help me understand what i am doing wrong. i am having a hard time understanding the concept behind BufferedImage and zooming. the applet code loads an image as its background. after loading, you can draw line segments on it. but when i try to zoom in, the image in the background remains the same in terms of size, line segments are the only ones that are being zoomed, and the mouse coordinates are confusing.

  • Problem with "Next Page" And "Zoom" in CrystalReportViewer With VS 2010

    Hello,
    i am using crystal report v 13 sp1 with visual studio 2010,
    As mebtioned, the next page and the zoom is not working in my report, whiwh has as data source "Stored Procedure"
    This is my code, and i think it's correct, i was using this code in previous versions of crystal report (cr10) and it worked fine,
    When i used the Data set , the next page and zoom worked fine, but with stored procedure it doesn't work,
    Note: when i open the Tree of Data on the left, then click on the next page or the zoom, it become funtional, it's very weird,
    protected void *Page_Init*(object sender, EventArgs e)
    if (!IsPostBack)
    reportDocument = (ReportDocument)this.Page.Session ["_reportDocument"];
    if (reportDocument != null)
    string rptFile = reportDocument.FileName.Split('
    ', '/').Last();
    LoadReportRessource(reportDocument);
    TableLogOnInfo log = new TableLogOnInfo();
    ConnectionStringSettings conn = WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings[0]; //la premiere connectionstring
    SqlConnectionStringBuilder SConn = new SqlConnectionStringBuilder(conn.ConnectionString);
    log.ConnectionInfo.ServerName = SConn.DataSource;
    log.ConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = SConn.InitialCatalog;
    log.ConnectionInfo.UserID = SConn.UserID;
    log.ConnectionInfo.Password = SConn.Password;
    log.ConnectionInfo.Type = ConnectionInfoType.SQL;
    for (int i = 0; i < reportDocument.Database.Tables.Count; i++)
    reportDocument.Database.Tables.ApplyLogOnInfo(log);
    for (int i = 0; i < CrystalReportViewer1.LogOnInfo.Count; i++)
    CrystalReportViewer1.LogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = log.ConnectionInfo;
    CrystalReportViewer1.ParameterFieldInfo = (ParameterFields)this.Page.Session ["_paramFields"];
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = reportDocument;
    CrystalReportViewer1.DataBind();
    CrystalReportViewer1.ShowFirstPage();
    else
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = (ReportDocument)this.Page.Session ["_reportDocument"] ;

    @Don:
    Sorry, but i donno what do you mean by "what is the App Pool running in 32 or 64 bit?",
    i am running the application locally, ( the IIS is installed locally ),
    as i told you, my OS is 64bit,
    And yes i tried a very simple report, with just one field , and the "next button" is also not working,
    Its only not working with stored procedure, in the others methods ( push or pull method is working fine)
    i think its a problem in refreshing page, because when i open the tree on the left, then click on next page or zoom, its works fine
    @Ludek:
    i changed my code as below, and it doesn't solve my problem:
            ReportDocument reportDocument;
            protected void Page_Init(object sender, EventArgs e)
                if (!IsPostBack)
                    reportDocument = (ReportDocument)this.Page.Session["_reportDocument"];
                    if (reportDocument != null)
                        string rptFile = reportDocument.FileName.Split('
    ', '/').Last();
                            TableLogOnInfo log = new TableLogOnInfo();
                            ConnectionStringSettings conn = WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings[0];
                            SqlConnectionStringBuilder SConn = new SqlConnectionStringBuilder(conn.ConnectionString);
                            log.ConnectionInfo.ServerName = SConn.DataSource;
                            log.ConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = SConn.InitialCatalog;
                            log.ConnectionInfo.UserID = SConn.UserID;
                            log.ConnectionInfo.Password = SConn.Password;
                            log.ConnectionInfo.Type = ConnectionInfoType.SQL;
                            for (int i = 0; i < reportDocument.Database.Tables.Count; i++)
                                reportDocument.Database.Tables<i>.ApplyLogOnInfo(log);
                        this.Page.Session["_reportDocument"] = reportDocument;
                        CrystalReportViewer1.ParameterFieldInfo = (ParameterFields)this.Page.Session["_paramFields"];
                        CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = reportDocument;
                        CrystalReportViewer1.ShowFirstPage();
                else
                    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = this.Page.Session["_reportDocument"];

  • Unable to find Transfer Rules and Data Source for 0PERSON Info Source

    Hi,
    I'am working on SALES ANALYSIS Configuration with the help of SAP Best Practices.
    I'am trying to load Master Data Attributes/Texts/Hierarchies.
    I'am able to load for allmost all the InfoPackages which i created for particular DataSource.
    Now i need to load master data for 0PERSON InfoObject under that Person (Attributes) and Person (texts) are there,for this 2 Transfer Rules and the DataSource has to be defined by default as it is defined for other Attributes/Texts/Hierarchies.But i'am unable to find a DataSource and Transfer Rules to create a infopackage for PERSON Attributes and Texts.
    Please gudie me with a solution in order to get these Transfer Rules and DataSource for this Attributes and Texts.
    With regards,
    Pradeep.B

    Hi,
    Install the corresponding master data objects from Business content. Go to data source find out the needed datasource, replicate it. If you want you can migrate it also.
    If still you are not getting 0person masterdata object datasource & transformation structure, then you have to create the transformation, Infopackage.
    Hope if you will install the business content again, it will solve your problem.
