PS cs5 update help
The Photoshop cs5 Help:Updates.. menu option always fails -- it reports that the update server is not responding. I tried to get an update from the adobe site and found a file Standard MultiPlugin.8BF, but cannot open it. Help!
Check that your firewall is not blocking the outgoing connection. On a Mac, a program called PDApp has to be allowed to connect to swupmf.adobe.com on TCP port 80, otherwise a "server not responding" message appears.

Adobe CS5 Updates fails !!! There was an error downloading this update HELP (Windows)
I have the same problem, but I'm on a mac 10.9. I have 2 folders inside the Adobe Patch folder inside the Adobe folder. The items have a bunch of letters and numbers.
I've attempted 2 downloads, each going through almost the whole process and stopping about 90% saying unable to install, fix the problems listed below (there was an error downloading this update, please quit and try again later). When I click on the consumer support for further assistance, it takes me to an Adobe page that says “This serial number is not for a qualifying product. Please try another” . I have CS4 design premium, CS5 design standard, and Acrobat Professional installed.

Installed memory(RAM): 4.00GB
I have run CS5cleanscript and uninstalled previous versions of photoshop.
I am administrator and have enough space on my hardrive.

FIRST, I use these Forum post rarely and I hope this is the correct section of the Forum to address my and if not would someone please either let me know so I can possibly re-post to whichever is the correct section?
The Adobe Application Manger shows that I have multiple updates available for my Web Premium CS5 Suite, but when I try (and have several times) they all fail. Each individual product states the reason as 'There was error downloading this update. Please quite and try again later'. I have had the Adobe Suite installed on two desktop machines (1) Inter(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @3.40 Hz, 23 GB RAM, W7 Pro 64-bit (2) AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1100T Processor 3.32 GHz, 16 GB RAM, W7 Pro 64-bit for some time. I get the same error result on both machines when updating is attempted. This problem started a few weeks ago and I have not had any prior problem with updating any of my numerous Adobe software products before. My product S/N:[deleted by moderator]. I just had a useless 'CHAT' with one of your "off-shore" support personnel who was, as no surprise, of no help whatsoever and referred me to this Form... hence this message.
I hope someone can help resolve this problem. Although the different programs work 'as is' it is always best to keep each program with the latest updates. However, if as you say ' There have been no new updates to CS5 for years.' then why do I have the Adobe Updater sitting in my taskbar (and it has been there for a while) prompting me with a reminder balloon on each log in that I 'have updates' ready to install? Then when I click to install they ALL fail! And all of the listed updates [Br, Dw, Fw, Fl, Ps, Ps(64bit), Ext Mgr and Camera RAW] are for CS5. I did not put the Adobe Application Manager there and would have had no idea there was any available updates if it had not appeared. So... if then there are no updates.... why is the Adobe Application Manager there showing availability of these CS5 updates? Please explain that......

CS5 - Local Help Files missing
While I was without internet recently, I was unable to browse local help files for Photoshop and Flash Catalyst in my new copy of Creative Suite 5
- Design premium.
I wa prompted to set preferences to browse offline help, and that did not working. Poking around in the actual folders showed me there were missing help files!
Also, the help files I did have all had the word "DRAF" in red at the top! Pretty poor quality control!
Where can I get the updated help files?i too have the same problem for my cs5 master collection.

the error says to reinstall the whole software.

Dreamweaver CS5 update apparently fixes Mac FileVault problem
Adobe has just released Dreamweaver 11.0.2 (build 4916), which is intended to fix the problem with running Dreamweaver CS5 on Mac OS X with FileVault enabled. Adobe Updater should automatically detect the update, and display the Adobe logo in the menu bar at the top right of the screen on a Mac. Click the logo, and select Adobe Updater. Alternatively, select Help > Updates in Dreamweaver.
I don't use FileVault, so can't verify that the update fixes the problem. Hopefully, it does.I was getting the same error message on both Windows 7 64-bit as well as XP 32-bit. When CS5 Dreamweaver installs (and several other Adobe CS5 products) it includes an older version of the Java 1.6 Runtime Environment which has known serious security flaws. My university's computer security people got a report from Secunia PSI that I was running vulnerable software (an older version of Java) and demanded that I immediately upgrade.
But I do have the latest updates of the JRE installed, so I was puzzled by this. When I looked at the Secunia report, the JRE culprits were installed in the Programs\Adobe folders as part of each application such as Dreamweaver (and several others). So I removed the insecure JRE folders under those program installations and replaced them with the updated JRE folder from the Java installation (JVM for DW). Granted, this was a bit of a gamble since the registry was not modified, but I had not experienced any problems until I kept getting the installation failure reported here for the CS5 DW update failure with no explanation.
Realizing that Dreamweaver is still a 32-bit app even when running on 64-bit Win 7, and I was running the 64-bit version of Java 1.6 v20, I thought I should have used the 32-bit version of Java to replace the insecure version installed under Dreamweaver. I tried that, as above, but the DW CS5 update still failed.
Then I tried to reinstall CS5 Dreamweaver only, which succeeded with the older insecure JRE which then immediately got flagged by Secunia PSI. Furthermore, the Dreamweaver update still failed with no explanation. I noticed that some of the previous Java files (by their dates) were still left in the DW installation JVM folder, after the re-install. So next I removed the entire Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS5 folder, and did a clean reinstall of Dreamweaver CS5 only. I don't understand why Adobe does not put the latest JRE's as part of their standard updates. Moreover, why put them in the Adobe installations at all--which is causing this security problem of older insecure JRE's--and instead use the main Java installation on the user's machine (and if absent, require users to install Java), if Java is really needed. -
My I phone 4s 5.1.1 won't let me download or update anything it starts by "waiting" then loads half way n goes bak to "waiting" then does it against then it says that it's unable to download or update help please I've tried signing out of my apple account and signin back in I've reset all settings I've turned it off and on idk what else to do!!
I have decided to dedicate this thread to the wonderful errors of Lion OSX. Each time I find a huge problem with Lion I will make note of it here.
Today I discovered a new treasure of doggie poop in Lion. No Save As......
I repeat. No Save As. In text editor I couldn't save the file with a new extension. I finally accomplished this oh so majorly difficult task (because we all know how difficult it should be to save a file with a new extension) by pressing duplicate and then saving a copy of the file with a new extension. Yet then I had to delete the first copy and send it to trash. And of course then I have to secure empty trash because if I have to do this the rest of my mac's life I will be taking up a quarter of percentage of space with duplicate files. So this is the real reason they got rid of Save As: so that it would garble up some extra GB on the ole hard disk.
So about 20 minutes of my time were wasted while doing my homework and studying for an exam because I had to look up "how to save a file with a new extension in mac Lion" and then wasted time sitting here and ranting on this forum until someone over at Apple wakes up from their OSX-coma.
are you freaking kidding me Apple? I mean REALLY?!!!! who the heck designed this?!!! I want to know. I want his or her name and I want to sit down with them and have a long chat. and then I'd probably splash cold water on their face to wake them up.

Ipod touch and january update help.
hi
i just reinstalled windows xp in my computer and i didnt back up the january updates from my itunes folder. when i synced my ipod after the reinstall it said i had to restore the ipod and after that the jan updates were gone.
someone at the apple store suggested going into itunes store and making sure i could see that i had purchased the jan updates and then scncing the ipod which i did...still didnt work.
can anyone help. the updates no longer exsist on my machine so i was hoping i could download them again without having to pay the $24.99 again or even waiting for the july 11 updates.
help...pleaseIf you didn't back up the "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file before you reinstalled your OS, your apps are gone, for now. It's an iTunes Store purchase, just like any music/videos purchased, and if not backed up, it's gone if you lose/wipe your HDD.
Apple has removed the January Upgrade from the iTunes store, so spending the $19.99 to get it back is not even possible.
Your best bet at this point is to wait for the July Upgrade (coming July 11th).

Error message for Adobe update helper
Since upgrading to Lion, I get the following message:
You can't open the application Adobe Reader Updater Helper because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.
I migrated from a PPC Imac to an Intel based i5 in February. But, this error just started after Lion upgrade. How do I stop it from continuing to pop up? Help!I need to finish the last post. I also migrated a PPC G4 Powerbook running 10.5.8 to a new MBP running 10.7, and got the same Adobe Reader updater helper message mentioned at the beginning of the thread. I did the Adobe Reader install, with no change on the error message, and couldn't find the item to either disable or delete. Any way to get rid of this bogus error?

Powershell will not update-help
Update-help doesn't work. Update-help -sourcepath "D:\update help" also doesn't work. I manually downloaded the files and put them in that folder since the live update fails, but even that won't work. Pasting error message:

Is the music purchased from iTunes? If it is you can contact iTunes support and ask them to allow you to re-download the music that you purchased from iTunes.
Also, do you sync the device regularly? When syncing an iPod Touch/iPhone a backup file is made. That backup file doesn't contain your music but it does contain your address book, application data, pictures, notes, etc. After restoring your device, you can try restoring from the last backup that was made of your device so you will not have to start over completely from scratch.

To start, I'm a total newbie in Flash, so I'm sorry if what I'm asking is ridiculously primitive, but I was literally thrown into this blindfolded and I'm using google and several forums to help me out.
What I'm doing: redesigning a website. At the moment, the website has a flash file that introduces it's logo and subcategories of its' website on the top of the page. What I wanted to do was make sure there was a hyperlink on the logo that would bring anyone back to the homepage, very basic stuff. The issue I have run into is that the logo is actually a flash movie. Different parts of the logo appear at different times, and I think this is what is specifically causing me issues.
The logo that I want to hyperlink has several layers, and what I've done so far is select them all and create a button (F8, select 'Button' and rename it). When I did that, I noticed the layers significantly changed and when I tested the movie, it looks terrible, choppy and not how it originally looked.
I know the step after that is to go into behaviors and insert the url to which I want it to be hyperlinked. The only thing is that I don't want to show a terrible flash movie to my boss even if it's hyperlinked to the homepage.
Anyone understand all that gibberish I wrote down? Or does anyone see a flaw in what I'm doing? I'm not 100% positive if the steps I'm taking are correct, I've been to several different sites, all of which tell me to do different things.
Initially I tried coding it with ActionScript, but I was having terrible issues with that as well.
If it helps, the file I'm working on was altered a while back. Could it be that the file is not compatible or proper for Flash CS5?

Since it is a button, it is already a self animating object that will react to mouse interactions, but only visually at this stage. The first thing you need to do to make it useful code-wise is to assign it a unique instance name. So you drag a copy of it out to the stage from the library, and while it's still selected, you enter that unique instance name for it in the Properties panel... let's say you name it "btn1"
In AS3, to make a button work with code, you need to add an event listener and event handler function for it. You might need to add a few (for different events, like rollover, rollout, clicking it, but for now we'll just say you want to be able to click it to get a web page to open. In the timeline that holds that button, in a separate actions layer that you create, in a frame numbered the same as where that button exists, you would add the event listener:

If you can't see it when you test the file and you know it's there and your cursor turns into a hand when you are over where it should be, it's invisible.

Select Edit -> Edit Document to get out of the symbol editing mode and back to the file editing mode. If you doubleclick an object on the stage, rather than clickingit in the library, you open it up in editing mode on the stage, but the stage and everything else will still be visible behind it in a faded tone.
