PS CS6 locks up
I work with PS CS6 and sometimes when I use the dodge tool (o) the program locks up and I have to force the program of and then begin alla over again. It has never happened to me before. (before CS6) Whats the problem?
Problem solved (sort of). More of a work around.
If I start PS CS6 X64 then open Task Manager and select sniffer gpu and end task everything works fine. I've tried removing the sniffer gpu file from the folder as others suggested,then open PS then it freezes again. I put it back and then just end process in TM and all works.

I just had another issue with cs6 locking up.
I just had another issue with cs6 locking up. This time, I was in cs6 beta working on an image, I went to file/open to open another existing file in photoshop, and when the finder window popped up to select a .jpg to open up, the cursor wouldn't respond to the finder window that was opened up, and I couldn't close it out, and I had to force quite cs6.
If I'm reading this correctly, your last kernel panic (that's what these are called) occured six months ago. Is that correct? It probably does not have anything to do with the number of windows you have open; I suspect it has to do with one of the third party kexts or non-apple hardware. My guess would be something with parallels (is the software up to date?), but if you're only getting panics at 6 month intervals it's really hard to diagnose.
Kernel panics aren't fun, but they aren't the end of the world. make sure you keep regular backups, and if you can figure out how to replicate the panic at a more frequent interval we can figure it out. -
CS6 locks up when I open a RAW file. Doesn't matter how I open the file. Other files open fine. This just started happening and I haven't changed anything on my PC. I'm running Windows 7 and have plenty of RAM.
Have you installed all the updates to Photoshop and ACR?
What kind of CPU are you using? -
Photoshop CS6 locks up the computer while doing a few things.
I have been battling this issue since I installed CS6 on this machine. I have been able to reproduce this lock up consistantly using the Lighting Effects, and I can also get it to lock up while using the Lasso tool, and also setting guides, but those are less consistant. I have tried to switch the advanced graphics options around too. It is currently on normal though. I currently have the GeForce Drivers v. 320.14 installed, which at the time of this post is the most rtecent stable build. I have followed basically every post or suggestion I could find on the web to solve this issue, but nothing works as of yet. I have even gone so far as to try every GeForce driver from 295.73 to 320.14 with no luch at resolution. Some of the drivers let me get a little further with the lighting effects, but still eventually lock up the computer... Currently I have had to uninstall Photoshop and then re-install it just to get PDF export to work right, but even after updating to the newest version of PS, I still get these lockups.
Please let me know what I am missing here.

I am modifying the forms to suit my needs but otherwise no changes to David's instructions
I am the stage where I have built the add, manage, update and delete forms and added the various Server Behaviours. Everything works as it should on testing.
Problem
Next stage is to create edit and delete links.
I select Edit from the page that lists all records (manage_posts in tutorial)
Select URL from Select File box
Click on Parameters from File box
Enter be_index (the primary key of the records) in the Name box
Click on Value lightning bolt
Dreamweaver totally locks up. Need to use Task Manager to close it down and regain control.
I have tried re-installing Dreamweaver, and deleting cache as suggested elsewhere on this site, to no avail. Database appears OK when examined with phpMyAdmin.
I have tried hand coding using the line
<td><a href="update_records.php?be_index=<?php echo $row_rs_benefactions['be_index']; ?>">Edit</a></td>
but it doesn't do what it is supposed to do i.e. create line of code that points too each record's primary key.
I would appreciate any help to overcome this solid barrier.

What it should do is insert a line in the pages code -

Since trying to insert this code via the DW facility locks everything up, I tried entering the line by hand.
According to the tutorial what this should do is select the appropriate record from the record listing table and show the entire record in the updating page.
i.e If I select the 3rd record, using Live view I should see the code

Unfortunately I don't, so I am completely stalled.

Illustrator CS6 locks up when I choose File - New...
I have Illustrator CS6 on a Mac OSX 10.7.4. Every time I choose File - New... or press 'cmd n' it locks up and I get the dreaded spinning ball cursor. Any way to fix this?
Opening a file by double clicking on an ai file in finder is fine.You did a Get Info on that folder and the Read/Write access is set to allow everyone access? Did you also check the parent folder (en_US) for the same access? Try going back up the line and allowing everyone access to the files and apply the same to all the enclosed files like this

Photoshop CS6 Locked/Frozen/Stuck upon startup
I use Windows OS 7, Photoshop CS6. I've run this program on this computer many times before, but now when I try to run it, while it still makes it past the splash screen, the window will lock up in the bottom left corner (only the top right of the Photoshop window is visible). I am unable to manipulate the window in any way. If I cascade all of my desktop windows, photoshop comes back to a regular position, but the window is still completely locked. I've tried restarting the program, restarting the computer, I have added no plug-ins to the program, though I have tried the ctrl-shift-alt advice at the splash screen and no dialogue box will open. Please advise...
To reset you have to enter the keystrokes before you see the splash screen. Immediately after starting.
Look closely when it loads before resetting. See if you can see on what step it stops loading. -
Illustrator CS6 locks up frequently
I am a cartographer using an Intel Core i7 with 8GB RAM. My system has a 1TB hard drive (not SSD).and an NVIDIA GEOFORCE 745M.
When I twirl-down a layer, or try something very simple such as selecting a feature either in the layers panel or on the artboard, Illustrator CS6 temporarily locks up and shows the spinning wheel. This occurs even after changing several settings to include: layers panel options (no thumbnails), unchecking 'Overprint Previw,' and even using 'Outline' view.
The problem becomes much worse when knockouts are enabled.
Anyone have any ideas on how to improve Ai CS6 performance? Or do I need CC2014? Thanks.I will try that. Should I also change my paging file size? And, I use Win 8.1, thank you.

Dreamweaver CS6 - locks up when connecting to server - sftp
I am using Dreamweaver CS6 on Windows 7 64bit which is connected to a remote server using sftp. Most of the time connecting to the server has been fine but now Dreamweaver has started locking up when I use the Put command. According to the log the process times out but if this is the case surely the program would still be operational. However, when this occurs Dreamweaver is unusable and the task manager has to be used to force the program to close. When it happens regularly (as it is today) the program becomes unusable. The files I have been uploading when this occured today were between 5 and 20KB's.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem.Hi,
Use Check-in/Check-out while transferring. This can be enabled as follows:
In the site settings dialog, go to advanced tab and check the checkbox "Enable check-in/check-out". Give a name and a user-id as well. Save the settings now and you can do a get/put or check-in/check-out and confirm does it works or not.

PS CS6 Locks up in Windows when I access Preferences or System Info in Help
I reset preferences, deactivated then reinstalled PS CS6 and CS6 64bit same issue. If I open PS CS6 (not x64) I can access preferences without a problem. I'm running windows 8 64bit. Everything else in x64 works normally (editing ect). Edit>Preferences>Camera Raw works. Anything else I choose in Preferences and PS freezes and I have to End Task in Task Manager. Any ideas ?
Problem solved (sort of). More of a work around.
If I start PS CS6 X64 then open Task Manager and select sniffer gpu and end task everything works fine. I've tried removing the sniffer gpu file from the folder as others suggested,then open PS then it freezes again. I put it back and then just end process in TM and all works. -
After Effects CS6 locks up on render
This started out with my installing an old sound card (Creative Labs Audigy LS) which was made for XP. I installed the hardware, found some third party drivers for Vista 64, and my problems began. While working on a project in AE CS6, I discovered that my queued renders would crash after the first one, sometimes with a "Dynamiclinkmediaserver.exe has stopped working" error. I've also noticed in the Task Manager that Quicktime doesn't always seem to be running - if I start up Adobe Media Encoder, it's there, so I'm thinking that maybe something got stepped on. If I run Adobe Media Encoder, the Quicktime module shows up, and I might be able to render off one file from AE, but then it will crash - crash isn't the right word - the screen goes black, and the fans on my machine start running really hard. I have to do a hard reboot, and then I'm back to square one. Is there a way to fix the software without a total reinstall - I've got a lot of plugins, and it would be a real pain to reinstall all of them - is there maybe a "repair" feature on the CS6 discs that I can use? Thanks.
Somewhat sparse and vague is an understatement - it was late last night when I posted, and I was a bit fried, trying to output a project with 13 versions, and AE crashing (well not exactly crashing - I'll explain later) after every output. First off, my system specs - dual-quad Intel machine with Vista Business SP2 64-bit (all of the Adobe apps have been running seamlessly on it until this problem - no doubt self caused). I'm running the CS6 Master Collection, and everything is on the latest rev, AE included. I have a number of plugins from Red Giant on the system, although none of these were in use in the project. The only plugin in use was Video Copilot Optical Flares, and that's never given me a problem. I have the AE cache set to the Apps drive (oh yes - 500GB OS drive, 500GB Apps drive, and two 750GB Media Drives, plus an 8TB Drobo for backup). As I say, everything has been running just fine for a couple of years. The sound card I talk about below had already been disabled in the Device settings in Control Panel, and I had deleted the suspected drivers, and also disable one which hadn't gone away with the uninstall of the Creative Labs apps. I had set the system back to the on-board sound card (ATI), and I was getting audio fine with both RAM previews as well as renders. The problem was, almost every time I would do a render, using the Render Queue, the fan on my Nvidia GeForce GTX-260 (latest driverss - text file in AE hacked to show it) would ramp up, as it often does on renders, and then the comp would sometimes render, and sometimes the screen would just go black - no crash - system seemed to still be running, but with the fans maxed, and I would have to do a hard boot with the on-off button on the machine. When it came back, sometimes the QT would have rendered, sometimes not.
I was outputting a short station ID to Quicktime, Mjpg-A, at 100 percent quality, audio at 48Khz - nothing custom about it.
I had installed an old (2007, maybe?) Creative Labs SB Audigy LS in an open PCI slot - found some drivers which Creative Labs acknowledged as ok, but were third party. With some changes in Windows, audio was working in AE and everywhere else. Since the problem, I have done a registry restore - I always back up the registry when I add new software or hardware, and I am just about to fire up the machine and try again with the sound card hardware removed, and the registry reset. -
Illustrator cs6 locks up when placing image (yosemite)
Just upgraded to yosemite...was running fine for a week or so but now illustrator finder window freezes when placing an image. Thoughts?

You may try the list.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media, see below. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you may find the folder here:

5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);

6) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

A month ago I started getting messages when I opened CS6 asking me to continue a trial of Photoshop CC I had not requested this. It seems that it may have come down via an update.
Today I cannot open CS6 and get the message from CC to buy the product which I do not want.
Is there any way of getting back to my installation of CS6.

John HaslehurstPaul cb. I get the same error message (9), which relates to an apparent dropping of the USB connection. I have now tried 3 different usb cables on 2 different mac's, same result.
Reading as much as I can understand, there appears to be a dependance on an SHSH signature file. I have never Jailbroken any of my apple hardware, but there is much information that can be gleaned from the associated writings.
I am not a genius my any means, but it appears as though (iMhO) that somehow the files (or some of them) on the iPad have become corrupted and the all important SHSH file is not there. This causes iTunes to have no reference point for restoring the iPad. Also, it is not possible to force a new firmware (Option click restore in itunes) without an SHSH file, this results in an error that says that the iPad is not eligible for this version ... or something like that.
MY problem is that in Dubai we do not have an Apple Genius bar and that you guys and gals are the closest I will get to an Apple Genius. The iPad was purchased for me in the States when my daughter was visting there so, I am pretty much sitting on a brick right now ... (my wife has annexed my iPad 2 until I can fix her iPad 1 .... sighs).
Unless there are any other tactics that you guys can suggest (without Jailbreaking) then I think I may be at the end of the road ..

CS6 locking up on me every now & then
Hey guys, I've been having this annoying problem with CS6 where every now and then no matter what I click, nothing would happen. I try clicking tools, layers, brushing something on the canvas and nothing happens. Even when I try to close the window i am using nothing happens. When I roll over the X the colors light up and everything but nothing happens (same when I roll over tools and swatches). Can't close or minimize anything. I've noticed it happening more often when I work on big files over 80mb. The only thing I can do is use shortcut keys to save whatever I have, quit photoshop and reopen again. Sometimes I have to reopen more than once.
It also happens a lot when I minimize PS and browse the web for a bit and come back. It's so annoying, and I worry that one day I won't even be able to use shortcut keys or access the top menus.
I have a Macbook Pro with OS X Mavericks. I recently updated to Mavericks, but even with the OS I had before that (10.7) I still had this same problem.I'm having a similar problem. I click the CS6 icon on my desktop, the program goes through the initializing process, the window opens...and nothing happens. It freezes up, nothing works, nothing responds to the click of my cursor-arrow. I have to use control-alt-delete to exit. Any suggestions, anyone?

After Effects CS6 locks up when trying to use Preferences sub-menu
I have an issue with AE "freezing" or locking-up when trying to use any of the sub-menu items under preferences. I have to shut down with task manager to regain control. I have a wintel PC with 8 gig of RAM and 2 TB of disk and a quad-core, don't think any of those are an issue. AE is the only problem child in this entire suite. Any help/guidance is deeply appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and effort.

That doesn't meet the system requirements and I think it's safe to say thatr this is the reason for the crash - the program is trying to draw the preferences panel in an invalid area since it cannot deal with the too small screen resolution properly. Increase the screen res and everything will probably work.
