PS CS6 (mac) dvd ejects before being read.
Hi ,
We really apologize for all the inconvenience which has caused you.
Are you able to mount other optical media successfully? If you put the Photoshop CS6 DVD in another Macintosh is it able to be read properly? If you can read other discs fine and the disc won't mount on another Mac then it is likely a problem with the DVD.
If the DVD can be mounted on another Macintosh then it is probably an issue with the optical drive on your Macintosh.
Btw if you need the install files you can download the trial from http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop. You can then use the serial number included with your software purchase
In the meanwhile if these steps doesnt resolve your issues you can contact Adobe support by following the link below:

Thanks
Mandhir

CDs and DVDs Eject Before They are Read
Hello,
When I insert a CD or DVD, it is ejected before it is read. I read a few posts on this list that mention this problem, but none that resolve it. So, I have a couple questions.
First, I read that one solution might be to do a PMU reset. I'm more than willing to try, but it sounds like this is supposed to be a last ditch approach. Is it really ok for me to do this?
Second, a Mac-using friend said that my battery may be on its last legs. This may be true, but would it really affect my CD/DVD drive?
And third, if it could be battery related, is there a way to test my battery before I invest in a new one?
Thank you for any advice!Hi,
WhatSize is a great program to see what is on your hard drive as well as deleting files/folders/applications.
If you are going to use WhatSize to delete any files/programs/applications, please be careful and make sure you know exactly what you are deleting and if there are any repercussions. WhatSize will show you files that you would not normally see; they are referred to as "invisible files". These invisible files are hidden from the users view because they would clutter the desktop and they hold vital information that if corrupted or deleted may cause problems. Please make sure you know what you are doing!
Have you deleted files that you don't use; like for my iBook, GarageBand. I use GarageBand on my iMac because it is much easier and faster, so I deleted it on my iBook. Have you tried the "erase install method"? The reason for doing this is because Mac OS X installs all the necessary fonts, languages, drivers, etc that people all over the world my need, by default. This tends to take up some room that you might want to get rid of (make sure first what you don't need and need). You erase and install your system software (Knowledge Base Document 301270 About Install Options w/ Mac OS X 10.4), and when installing, do a custom install. This way you can install the languages, drivers, and applications you want. The same technique can be done with iLife.
I hope that helps,
Jon

I am trying to burn a DVD movie that I made on iMovie onto a DVD-R using iDVD. I get to the "multiplexing and burning" stage when the DVD is ejected. Nothing displays on the screen, it looks like it is continuing to burn. There is nothing burned onto the DVD. Does anyone know what the problem might be? I am not getting an error message or anything, just the DVD ejecting without the movie completed.
I think Snow Leopard is the problem.
A: might be on a G5....
Question: Isn't snow leopard intended mainly (if not exclusively) for intel macs?
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC223
"Snow Leopard is an upgrade for Leopard users and requires a Mac with an Intel processor."
The above may also help address your concerns on the following thread also. But if not just come on back:

- Boot the Mac with the shift key held down, then try launching. (Safe Mode). Does it launch?
If yes, you've got some third party software causing a conflict. Safe Mode ensures only Apple System files are launched at startup. You'll have to track down what third party startup item may be the issue.
Addendum.. if you use Font Book and also downloaded FontExplorer, that may be your issue entirely - two apps BOTH trying to control the same font files.
- Switch to a different user account. Does it launch?
If yes, your user account is broken. Often the best thing to do here is to create a new user account, migrate everything from the old user account to it, then remove the old user. Or you could simply do a clean install of the OS. With Mac OS10.6 or later, a clean install is actually pretty painless and doesn't require a great deal of reinstalling other applications or reconfiguring.
If neither of the above work....
- Boot from the Recovery Partition by holding the Option key down when the Mac Boots up. Run disk utilities and repair permissions and Verify the Hard drive. Then retry. If it still won't launch, you may have issues witht he OS installation itself, in which case a clean install is also reccomended. -
"Data Samples Overwritten before being Read" Error?
I have been working on this issue for over 3 weeks, I am getting an overflow error (Data overwritten before read), and I can't seem to get rid of it. I tried sevral suggestions, but still can't get rid of it. I am using two counters Gated by PFI7 and PFI4 to measure RPM. Ctr1 is Once Per Rev counter, and Ctr0 reads time reference at every edge. In our application, we average RPM after certain # of Revs, say every 100 Revs, we average them and we get an RPM reading. But the problem is before the averaging, the buffer seems to occur with speed exceeding 1000 RPM which is not nearly close to what we are looking for. I am using 16E-4 series and it supposed to handle high RPM ( I am looking for RPM at around 5000. I appreciate any feedback or suggestions on this issue, or a way may be I can handle the buffer to make it stop overflowing. Here is a snipet of the code:
DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCreateTask("Counter Task1",&taskHandle[1]));
DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCreateCICountEdgesChan(taskHandle[1],"Dev1/ctr0","Counter0",DAQmx_Val_Falling,0,DAQmx_Val_CountUp)); // Counter 0
DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxSetCICountEdgesTerm(taskHandle[1],"Dev1/Ctr0","/Dev1/20MHzTimebase")); // Sets 20MHz as source clock
DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming(taskHandle[1],"/Dev1/PFI7",40000,DAQmx_Val_Rising,DAQmx_Val_ContSamps,10000)); // using PFI7 as gate
DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCreateTask("Counter Task2",&taskHandle[2]));
DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCreateCICountEdgesChan(taskHandle[2],"Dev1/ctr1","Counter1",DAQmx_Val_Falling,0,DAQmx_Val_CountUp)); // Counter 1
DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxSetCICountEdgesTerm(taskHandle[2],"Dev1/Ctr1","/Dev1/20MHzTimebase")); // Sets 20MHz as source clock
DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming(taskHandle[2],"/Dev1/PFI4",40000,DAQmx_Val_Rising,DAQmx_Val_ContSamps,10000)); // using PFI4 as gate
DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxStartTask(taskHandle[1]));
DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxStartTask(taskHandle[2]));
DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxReadCounterU32(taskHandle[1],360*RevsToAverage,TimeOut,TimeBuffer,BufferSize,&NumberReadOnTimeCounter,NULL));
DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxReadCounterU32(taskHandle[2],RevsToAverage,TimeOut,OncePerRevBuffer,BufferSize,&NumberReadOnOncePerRevCounter,NULL));
Reading Counter0 is producing BufferOverflow error, I did try doubling the BufferSize even 4X, it didn't help. So, I making the buffer for 72000 samples for example, so it gets the 72000 samples requested in the first iteration of the loop, but when it comes in the next iteration, I don't think the buffer is empty. I do free up the memory on the way out from each iteration too, I am wondering if there is any addiotional housekeeping that I have to dod for the buffer, as I thought NIDAQmx takes care of the flushing.
Thanks for your feedbackHi NewBe,
Thank you for posting on the National Instruments forums.
Is this the code that you are using in your application? One thing that I see off hand is that you are setting up and starting the task, then reading channels, but there is not stop or clear. Do you have a loop around your read section of code? You should not be configuring or starting the task after you do your read. If you want to do that, then make sure you have a close or clear task, depending on if you want to restart the task or reconfigure the task.
Another thing you can try is to for the numSampsPerChan to -1, which reads all of the data from the buffer each time you call the read function. If that fixes your issue, then it means that you are not reading off of the buffer fast enough so it fills up and you get that overflow error.
Please let me know what you find after trying this.
Thank You,
Nick F.
Applications Engineer -
I recently tried my first hand at burning a DVD. Accidentally I burnt it in PAL format. I was using Toast 7. It burnt well, no problems, and was readable on my DVD player. But as it was my first attempt it was merely a test DVD+RW that had a menu a short vid and an audio file. I was testing that this would all work. And it did...
When I put the DVD back into my computer it cannot be read, or atleast it wants me to think that. It is not showing up on the desktop nor in the finder window. When I open up toast it can read it and all its contents when I go to disc info. Then I tried to click erase and am given option of erase or quick erase. If I click on either one I get the error "The drive is busy or has been reserved by anotehr application." At first I thought this was a Toast issue, but seeing as how it can recognize it and others cant (DVD Player gives me error about not supported format) I thus think this is an OSX issue.
So I guess my question is, sorry about the long leader, does make support PAL discs? Is there any way, short of getting a PAL computer drive/operating system, to read this disc in order to erase the contents (remember its a DVD+RW) inorder to use it again. Can I force Toast to erase it bypassing the error? Is this disc a gonner, waste of plastic?
Any info would be helpful.
Thanks
mad-elphIt shouldn't matter what TV format a rewritable dvd was burned under when it comes to erasing it - it should just be erased. There are a few options to try here.
1. delete the current toast preference file and restart.
2. Delete the cache file (or you can do a clean of all user cache files which might be easier) using one of several 3rd party apps - here's a free one - http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english.html
3. Reinstall a fresh copy of Toast
Hope this helps. -
POP3 email marked as read on server before being read
Problem: Emails downloaded to my iPhone are marked as read on the server, even when they have not been read on either the iPhone, server/webmail or any other email client. When iPhone recieves a new email, it is listed as unread on the phone but on the server's webmail the same email will be listed as read. This sounds exactly like the problem described here, but unfortunately there was no solution to that discussion. The main issue for me when trying to find the new/unread email via webmail, when my inbox is sorted by conversation/thread, is that all the emails look the same. The new email is not highlighted differently (ie. unread) to the other 99 emails on the page and so is difficult to find.
More information: My iPhone is supplied by my employer and is used primarily for work. The primary mail account is configured to sync with my employer's Exchange server. This all works fine. I have added a second account to send/retrieve SMTP/POP3 email to/from my home ISP's mail server. This all works fine too (but with the above mentioned problem). With my previous phone (Windows Mobile), this same setup worked fine but without items on the server being marked as read.
Example: At work, on my PC, I have a web browser tab open on my home ISP's webmail page. The iPhone chimes and displays a new email notice on its lockscreen. Without touching the iPhone, I check my webmail on the PC to read the new email. In the list of emails in my webmail Inbox, the new email is already marked as read, even though I have not yet opened it on the iPhone nor via webmail. Futher to this, if I send myself an email from work to home, and immediately check my webmail, I can see the email listed as unread. Without opening the email, if I allow the iPhone to check for new email (or manually make it check) but do not open the new email, then refresh the webmail page, that new email has now become marked as read.
Further information: My ISP does not offer IMAP; this is stated very clearly on their user help/email setup wiki pages. My iPhone is configured to use their POP3 server address and port 110, the same as I have configured on my home PC. My work email account is configured for Push, my home account is configured for Fetch - hourly. The account advanced settings... Deleted Messages=never remove, Use SSL=off, Authentication=password, Delete from server=never, Server Port=110, S/MIME=off.
Any ideas that the heck is going on here?Use OWA (Outlook Web Access) Not POP3 Settings
Use OWA (Outlook Web Access) Not POP3 Settings
Use OWA (Outlook Web Access) Not POP3 Settings
Okay. This is doing this because your bb is not logging into the owa (outlook web access), it's using POP3. In order to use owa it must be enabled on your exchange server (ask your admin if you have this option). An owa address is something like https://mail.yourcompay.com/owa, depending how your admin set this up it could be named something else. You can either get to this option through your phone companys (BIS) website or on the bb itself.
If you use your phone companys website (BIS) to configure this option just log in and find the topic that reads something like this -
"How do I set up BlackBerry Internet E-mail using a My T-Mobile Account?"
This will give you the instruction for setting up the account for owa. (Took me a little bit to find this in my tmobile account.) During this setup there should be an option to check called use owa. You have completed the setup and never saw that option then start over and find that option.
If you go through the bb's setting on the actual device the way to get to this option is kind of strange (at least it was the only way I could figure out how to get to it on my phone).
I started by deleting the email account off the phone then added a new account. Go back to the account setting and change the password to a wrong password. After you select "ok" or "next" or whatever to get to the next screen you will get a message saying could not connect to server or error or something like that. Now you should have a option to configure the device manually. This option will get you to page to allow you to select OWA. Then just configure you bb for owa and you are good to go.
Sorry this is such a crude post. I usually take the time to give very accurate, step-by-step instructions, but I do not have time. Good luck to all with this issue. -
So, this is strange.
I purchased the album Old World Romance by the band Sea Wolf, and when I put the CD in my slot-load drive on my MacBook Pro, it will spin, make a slight click noise, spin again, and then eject. It won't read or do anything else with the CD. It will work just fine on a PC though.
What's strange is that it's the only CD that this occurs with. Just the other day, I ripped a couple of other audio CDs with no problems at all.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE. It's not just this particular one CD. My girlfriend had borrowed this same album from a library almost a year ago and that CD would read in my computer.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thanks.Hi mashdots,

I am try to burn a iPhoto slideshow on to a dvd in iDVD, when I click burn I get error message and dvd is ejected. I have burned dvd's before. What am I doing wrong?
error message I don't have SuperDrive and dvd is ejected
If you don't have a SuperDrive you will not be able to burn DVDs.
Did iDVD come preinstalled on your Mac? If it did then you should have a SuperDrive and be able to burn DVDS. Check the Disk Burning section of System Information
to see what you can read and write with your optical drive:

Audio CD import is not working the cd is ejected before itunes can read it
audio CD import is not working the cd is ejected before itunes can read it. Does anyone know how to fix this?
LaineyDoes this happen with all cd's or one in particular?
Reset the SMC http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Reset the PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
Try a cleaning disc. You can get them at places like Radio Shack.
If nothing helps your optical drive has probably failed. You can replace it or purchase an inexpensive external drive. Don't buy the Apple SuperDrive as it won't work with macs that have a built in drive. -
does any one have a solution to a blank disk not being read and unresponive to the eject button?

After SL-DVD drive won't read any dvd-ejects it after spinning some time
Yesterday I bought the SnowLeopard DVD in order to do the update of my Mac OS.
Right after inserting the DVD in the drive (MATSHITA CD-RW CW-8221) it started to have some problems with reading the DVD.
The Drive has stopped recognizing/reading any blank DVD media (and many recorded DVDs, including movie discs). It spins for some time with a noise and then ejects it out. The same media works fine in my Toshiba laptop.
I tried several times, but the drive isn't able to read the DVD and now has the same problem with other CD-Roms and DVD.
I am very suprised (and angry) about it, especially because I hardly use the drive.
As a lot of other people are having the same problem, there seems to be a structural problem with the drive and I think that Apple has to clearify if they are planning to do something and what.Mine MacBook seems to be doing almost the same thing. The SL disk spins a bit then is ejected. It does the same thing with my first SL disk and the one Amazon sent as a replacement. I had the same trouble with the 10.5 Install disk purchased retail. Apple sent a replacement Non-retail disk and it worked. I can burn DVDs and read DVDs I've burned.

I have recently acquired an update for my mac OX the program being the snow leopard, i have been forever inserting the disk only to have it ejected by my mac, hence, i am unable to update my system with snow leopard, what can i do, as i have just paid out money for something which
Worked like a charm and resolved my problem totally. The only issue I had is that, unlike the Computer (Mac OS). the iPad doesn't give constant visibility to what it is doing (feedback), so I wasn't initially sure it had done anything.
When I opened my emailed message with .vcf file attached, and tapped the .vcf attachment icon, I saw activity on the icon for just a few seconds, then it reverted to the original with nothing apparently happening. After about 30 seconds, the secondary menut popped up indicating the transfer of 1200 addresses would be completed, if I approved the action. Another 10 to 15 seconds then transpired before the completed Contact list appeared on the ipad. So you must be patient, if you have a large Addressbook. That's reasonable,but unexpected lack of feedback left me wondering, like so many other things on the iPad.
THank you for the assist. Apparently Apples Mac Genius people did not know this procedure, and I will pass it on to my local Apple Store Instructor.
