PS CS6 palettes need the application frame

I use two monitors, one for my canvus and the other for all my palettes. Which means my palettes are outside the application frame. With this setup, my mouse is very "jerky" when rolling over the layers palette, or others (takes a few sconds to notice). But once I move the palettes within the application frame the mouse is very smooth. Is anyone else having this problem? I am able to produce this on two Macs.
My setup is:
MacBook Pro
10.8.2
16 GB of ram
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB graphics

No it doesn't. But if I drag the application frame across both monitors, so that it's under the palettes, all is very smooth. Problem is, that it's a bit awkawrd because the second monitor is the 15" laptop and the main is a Apple 23" Cinema HD Display.
I also tried disabling the Graphics Procssor Settings and restarted, but no change.

  • How do you turn off the Application Frame in the Windows version of CS6?

I have successfully turned off the Application Frame on my Mac version of CS6 but can not find the same functionality in my Windows version.  Anyone know how to turn off
this feature in the Windows version?

Application Frame is a Mac only feature
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-application-frame-document-window.ht ml#main_Application_frame__Mac_OS_X_Only_
It's the normal behaviour by design for all software in the Windows environment so there's no on-off toggle.

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut to close the Application Frame in CS6 Mac? Mousing to menus or click on

Nothing works to close this window except mouse/clicking... I don't like it being in the background when I'm working in other apps.

I'm not a Mac user, so I don't have a way to check this myself, but what's the behavior when you do disable it via the setting, then open an image?  Does the image just open a window exactly the size of the displayed image?  I assume this is different than what you're looking to see.  Maybe a couple of screenshots would help others reading this thread (e.g., Adobe folks) to understand how you'd prefer it to work.
I think the intent is to make the default Photoshop behavior the same on a Mac as on a PC, and on a PC there's no way to eliminate the Application Frame at all.

  • FAQ: UI - How can I change the color theme, size of the text, or turn off the application frame?

    CHANGING THE INTERFACE COLOR SCHEME:
The Photoshop CS6 default interface is dark, but if you prefer the lighter interface you are used to from earlier versions,
you can change it back in the appearance area. There are 4 default color themes.
Mac          Photoshop > Preferences > Interface
Windows   Edit > Preferences > Interface
    CONFIGURING LARGER FONTS:
For those who need larger fonts, you can also change the UI Font Size down in the type area.
Be sure to restart Photoshop to see the changes.
    TURNING OFF THE APPLICATION FRAME
CS6 opens now by default in "Application Frame". You can go Window>Application Frame in the main meu and uncheck this

Select the title / text and then click on the "i" (inspector). A colored pin wheel shows up after you click on the square box directly below the font settings inside the inspector window. Then simply drag the dot to the color you want. Like this:

  • CS4 - Is it possible to disable the application frame?

I have been cursing and hating the application frame in Windows for the last month, but now I get my hands on the Mac version, I'm discovering my days of cursing have only just begun it seems.
In the Mac version of InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator they at least provided a way to disable the application frame, but I'm not seeing the same thing in Flash.
Am I blind or did they truly not include the option?!
Options for people that want them are fine. Universal decisions that some company knows better how to do UI for an app than the primary OS it is running in make me want to set a UI engineer on fire.

    Hello,
    >> I need to disable the export button/functionality in a customer's apex installation (3.2.1) as part of the security measures.
    >> this need applies for both development and production enviroments although if a solution is available, it will be first tried in the development enviroment.
I agree with Tyler, this is indeed a really strange request. If your customer can’t rely on his developers, I would say you have a problem. I’m saying it because disabling the export button, even if it’s possible, doesn’t really give you any kind of protection. A malicious developer can still export APEX application using the Java utility APEXExport; it can be done with SQL Developer; it can also be done on a page level, and I only named the documented options.
I don’t think this type of action should be considered for a development environment. Of course, the production environment is a completely different ball game. You can use the APEX run-time only environment, and by that neutralize most of the developer related “risks”.
    Just my 2 ¢,
    Arie.

  • Any way to set the Application frame to specific dimensions?

In order to make screencasts more easily, I'd like to make a small AppleScript or Javascript script that would resize the application frame to exactly 1280 X 720
I tried a few things in both AppleScript and Javascript but I can't find any reference in the docs on how to point to the Application frame and set its dimensions...
Any pointer in the right direction much appreciated!

Yes, we do use Apple Remote Desktop. However, we want the other computer to be black the entire time, whether we are accessing it or not. I just don't want the students to see the mouse flying all over the screen and getting distracted, so I just need the screen itself to be black all the time, while still being on.

  • Citrix access gateway website -- the application frame does not load properly

Goal - use remote desktop via citrix website; Did work in FF in July; now (Aug) it doesn't
Problem: Application frame with link to RDP is blank
I log into website OK - three frames should be present: 1) fileshare - I don't use this & it appears to load OK; 2) websites - I don't use this & it appears to load OK ; and 3) Applications - This frame is blank but it should load a collection of links including a link to remote desktop
Behavior: If I have just cleared the history then the application frame will "clock" (this is normal) but instead of showing the links a blank frame appears; If I have NOT just cleared the history, the application frame shows the "clock" but it is frozen; slightly different but still results in blank application frame.
    I have tried:
    1. clear history before logging in (change in "clocking" but still results in blank application frame
    2. IPV6- disable by set to true; No impact on problem; toggle back to false
    3. network DNS disable prefetch; disable by set to true ; no impact on problem; toggle back to false
    4. preference named plugins.load_appdir_plugins; change its value to true; no impact - set back to false
    One significant change I have made "around" the time of the problem is I uninstalled norton that came preinstalled, installed adaware, and removed/ disabled the adaware browser toobar ;
I will appreciate any suggestions from the community.

FYI: The problem persists as of 9/20 with version 24.0

  • Where do I find the Application Frame ON/OFF in the menus?

Where do I find the Application Frame to turn ON/OFF in the menus in Adobe Photoshop CC?

Here's a screenshot from Photoshop CC, same for CC 2014 and other versions of Photoshop
I did not see whether you are using Windows OS or Mac OS, but this is exclusively a Mac feature. You will not find it any Windows version of PS.
    You should see this:

  • What is the "applications frame" option ?

Why is this here? My was checked and it was driving me crazy with the window extending beyond the bottom of the monitor.

The Application Frame is just a blank space Photoshop draws that shows where you'll be editing.  Its intent is to be a background to block out distractions from windows or desktop graphics.
It's optional on a Mac and it's always on on a PC.  I think Mac users more often expect it not to be shown, as it has been that way with past Photoshop versions, while Windows users always expect to see a window fully drawn on the screen.
If your main Photoshop window was going beyond the bottom of your monitor, and you really did want the application frame turned on, you might have been able to recover the proper window size by resetting Photoshop's preferences to defaults.
How did it get to be larger than the monitor?  Did you use a larger monitor at one time?

  • Expressing disdain for the Application Frame

I find this new feature utterly useless. If I do not choose to utilize "Application Frame" then my documents open and cover my entire 27" screen, and I am constantly having to resize them.
If I *do* utilize Application Frame, an opaque grey box covers my screen, granted, at whatever size I'd like my documents to open, but yet is one more item on my desktop taking up space.
Often times, it opens over *top* of my documents and I have to dig to find them. I also dislike having the menu bar undocked from the top of my desktop.
Is there some wonderful new aspect here that I'm missing? Is there anyway to return to the old way of opening documents to size (more or less)?
For the life of me, I can't imagine why this so-called "feature" was added.

I agree with you. The fact that i always have to resize my page is anoying. I often open a blank page so all my other pages open the right size.

  • Do I need the Application Support: Logic folder for GarageBand?

I use GarageBand 10.0.1, but not Logic.  Today, I noticed a Logic folder in Application Support that's almost 800MB.  The largest sub-folder is EXS Factory Samples (637MB), which contains "Drum Kit Designer", "01 Acoustic Pianos" and "07 Guitars".  Since I don't use Logic do I need these folders?  If I delete the Logic folder, will it have any effect on GarageBand?
    Thanks in advance.

GarageBand 10.0.1 uses Logic samples (that are kept in the Logic folder you've mentioned). I would not delete those .

  • Do i need the ipad frame clips?

I have just replaced a dead iPad battery, breaking most of the frame clips in the process. I've put it back together with 3 clips intact, the startup screen with the swipe to unlock are displayed, but the device is unresponsive to swipes. Do the clips prvovide any circuit function for the glass screen or can I leave them out?

Opening the iPad in any capacity voids the Warranty and as such forfeits any support by Apple and by extension these forums.
    We cannot help you here.

CS6--Error message -- the application was unable to start correctly 9)xc000007b). click OK to close the application.

Nobody can know. That's just a generic Windows crash code and since you haven't provided any system info, no crash logs nor even told us what app you actually refer to this is totalyl useless.

  • Application frame not working

Maybe i'm misunderstanding, but with the application frame checked i thought that when i moved my main image window either by the corner resizing method or dragging the title bar, the entire contents, including the palettes were supposed to move.  However, on my mac, snow leopard, when the move the image around, the palettes stay where they are.  They don't' move with everything else, just like when application frame is turned off.  Please help.   Thanks.

I am having this same issue. Should I just uninstall and reinstall? Or do they need to give me special instructions?
