PS CS6 stand alone  won't open images

Using new Win8.1 laptop that recently have displayed Sony Raw images.Using PS CS6 stand alone which does nothing when asked to update. Adobe asked for ID verification which I did but didn't help. Same problem with Bridge.

The forums are acting strange, so first let's reboot your PC. Log in as Administrator.
Uninstall Photoshop CS6 from the Control Panel, and checkmark Remove Preferences.
Then to be sure, download and run the cleaner tool so we don't have any remnants interfering with your reinstall.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Look through the instructions before running the Tool and when you are comfortable with it, run the Cleaner.
Reinstall. If you don't trust your discs (sometimes they go bad) download the Photoshop CS6 installer here.
Download CS6 products and have your serial number ready. If this is an upgrade, the serial from a qualifying product CS4 or CS5 will be needed.
I would also ask you to turn off any Anti-virus programs before installing, but you may wish to disconnect from the Internet before you do that. That's up to you.
That should remove all doubt.

  • Adobe CS 6 Master Collection Stand Alone won't run

Purchased CS6 (Stand Alone) upgrade from CS5. Program calls up a Creative Cloud Notice requiring subscription renewal.

    Thank you for your reply.
The removal of Adobe CC was already done when contract with Adobe expired.  Called 800-443 8158 for technical support. Gave them remote access to my computer. We removed a CC version of Adobe Acrobat, Uninstalled Adobe CS6 , while reinstalling CS6 the wireline  to tech support lost the connection (I was cut off). They didn't call me back or even e-mail me. So I am on my own with your help. Already found that Adobe help referencing the CC Cleaner Tool and downloaded the application. Read the instructions but was reluctant to use it lest I have problems with a working version of CS5. Seems that Adobe is so obsessed with getting customers into Creative Cloud that they failed to give instruction for stand alone users in their Creative Cloud dialog box. Just for grins I selected "Have a Different Adobe ID?" option (already established my ID years ago). A new dialog box appears asking for a serial number. Copied and pasted my serial number then I think I got a thank you from Adobe and like magic all my new CS 6 software is now validated and working. Hope this is of help for others who are done with Digital Subscriptions like Adobe Creative Cloud. I hope Adobe will give us stand alone users a break when it comes to technical support. I don't want to be creative in a cloud.

  • LR4 won't open images in CS6

I cannot get LR4 to open images in CS6 using "Edit in". LR opens CS6 with no problem but no image appears. I have tried everything I know - uninstalled both, reinstalled both, cleared out registry, checked I have latest upgrades and both using same ACR (7.2) etc but it still won't work. Using Windows 7 by the way.

This question comes up at least once a day - have you searched?

  • CS6 won't open images

I can't get images to open in CS6. Get the following message. "Adboe Photoshop CS6 stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working." Reistalled several times. This error also happens with Elments 10.  Installed older verson of Elements 7 and this works fine. HP ENVY 64 bit, plenty of ram, gigs etc. Spent several hour with HP support, checking system, no virus's etc. Can open images in Bridges...Camera Raw

I'm just suggesting that I have to look at all here...that's all. I' m looking for help, trying to resolve an issue has not been changed on my part since I install CS6 7 month ago along with NIK, no updates, no nothing.   You guys got plug - in on CS6 to run third party software, that's why it's there...Correct?  Somewhere, other than yourself, someone at Adobe must have come across these issues with plug-ins and have some sort of guidance.  I read all the issues with CS6 and they are not all related to third party software.  So don't come like to me like Adobe doesn't have issues with a $675.00 program and you all "walks on water." It always the "others guys fault.  I expect support. for Adobe, NIK, Epson and all the other folks That I buy from I'm a photographer, not a software expert. Expect Adobe to help resolve an issue, not blame others....Hope I', clear on this. One way or the other I'll get this resolved with or without Adobe's help.
And if I do run another plug in and it doesn't work then for sure I would expect Adobe to replace the CS6

  • Are there any reported conflicts of CS6 (Stand-alone) with other Non-Adobe Software Programs?

I just downloaded a trial version of CS6 (standalone) 64 bit for my Imac 27" 3.06 dual (OS 10.8.1) 4 GB Ram.
I tried it, and then closed down to compare it to anothernon-Adobe program.
As soon as I tried to open a file image in this other program, I could';t open the other program.
I kept getting that bothersome Apple notice where you write a note, send it, and reopnen the software.
This happened over and over, until I decided to uninstall CS6 and reboot my IMac.
The problem with the other Non-Adonbe software disappeared, and that program functioned as beofre.
    Has anyone experienced this problem?
I prefer not to mention the other porogram, but that company has been notified as well.
    Thanks.

    Hi Chris & John,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
What I'm going to try and do is upload CS6 extended (Photoshop - stand alone) if I can.
The other program is a commerical (paid with a serial number) called Fluid Mask 3.
Is there a possibility that CS6 can create a problem with OS 10.8.1, which then interferes with my other program?
If I can re-load CS6 extended, and I get the same problem, what I'll do is screencapture the "issue" that Apple OS 10.8.1 said I had,
and attach only a portion of the key parts to a reply here.

  • Bridge won't open images

When I double click an image in Bridge, the image won't open in Photoshop. That's only one of numerous problems I am having with the Bridge that came out with PS CS3, but this has just occurred in the last day. I restarted the computer, but that doesn't work. Any suggestions?

AFAIK, you need to open Bridge, use cmd K to access Prefs, and make sure the box that enables that double click action is checked. hth, kl

  • CS6 Media Encoder won't open at all...

I installed CS6 Master Suite... Media Encoder won't open at all. No error message... nothing when I click on the icon.  I opened a project in Premiere... exported it to the Que... No media Encoder window..
Help please... I'm dead in the water....

Try holding down CTRL + ALT + SHIFT while launching AME, that's another way to clear prefs.  If that doesn't work, try deleting these two folders (NOTE: this will delete any custom presets or workspaces you've created):
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\6.0\
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\AME\6.0\

  • CS6 Dreamweaver software won't open, how do I solve this problem?

I have CS6 (not cloud) installed on my computer, I use Photoshop and Illustrator regularly with no problems.  I recently got a freelance job that requires me to use Dreamweaver.  I've used it in the past but it's been some time since I've opened the program.  Recently I've tried to launch CS6 Dreamweaver and the Application won't open, but my Illustrator and Photoshop programs open just fine.  I tried to update my software through the Adobe Application Manager but its claiming that the update has failed and cannot be applied.  Is there a reason my applications are not working properly?

If you have turned on your hidden folders (which is necessary in both PC and Mac to see the folders at the correct locations) and they don't exist, a full reinstall is going to be the only thing that will get you going most likely.

  • LR3 Won't Open Images in CS5!

    Hello!
I've been running both LR3 and CS5 for months and months, and now suddenly, when I go to "Edit in Photoshop CS5..." an image, it won't open in CS5! It always worked great before. Now, instead, CS5 does nothing, or throws up an open dialogue box of its own. What gives? And, sometimes, after trying to open images to edit them in CS5, I'll notice that CS5 now has, in its "Open Recent..." drop down menu under the File menu, some strange file names with an .ini suffix, or long strings of letters and numbers that mean nothing to me. I'm running Mac OS 10.5.8 Help! This is very strange!
    Tom

My issue is resolved! I simply updated LR from 3.4 to 3.5, and also updated to the latest CS5, and everything is working fine now. My problem does have one similarity to yours, though: I recently added an external hard drive, where my LR catalogs and images are now being stored. I don't know if adding the external hard drive caused LR3 (or CS5) to somehow lose track of where the image was that needed to be opened!
Anyway, all is working fine now, and I'm a happy camper.

  • Photoshop CS6, Mac OS, switching through open images with OS command no more possible

Using Photoshop CS6 (13.0.1) on a Mac Pro OSX v 10.6.8 it is no more possible to switch through open image windows with the OS related key combo "command <".
There is also no Photoshop own configurable command available, that could solve this issue.
CS5 or versions below always allowed that, and I very much miss this practical and fast switching between images, much faster then having to maneuver down through the "windows" menue.
    Anybody knows a solution?

thanks conroy, Ctrl+Tab does the trick! - Gerhard

  • PS CS6 zoom sometimes affects all open images

I'm trying to figure out how to replicate this issue. This is on Win7 x64 with PS CS6. On an infrequent basis, when I zoom in on one open image, the same zoom magnification will be applied to all the other images I have open. When this happens and I have several image files open, you can imagine it's annoying to have to reset the view for all those open images.
It looks like the zoom inheritance sometimes happens when I drag a layer from a zoomed-in image onto another open image window that's at a different zoom magnification. But it doesn't happen every time.
If this is a "feature" please tell me how to avoid or disable it.

The shift+Ctrl+0, + and - or 1 are shortcuts I want to ask to have implemented as a JDIs on the feedback site. Also, a shift+clicking the contextual menus of the zoom/hand tool (or spring-loaded ones) Done: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop_jdi_allow_more_zoom_all_wi ndows_shift_shortcuts#add_product_label
Note: the CTRL or ALT+Spacebar do respect the Shift modifier to work on all open document.
I'm wondering if I will not also ask to have the double-click (and shift-double click) of the zoom and hand tool not register as a tool change (be spring loaded) done: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop_jdi_make_double_clicking_t he_zoom_or_hand_tool_a_spring_loaded_event?topic_tools=open
Thanks for that feature, Chris, I use it a lot!

  • ITunes 7.6 (or QuickTime stand alone) won't run on XP

Dear friends in iTunes Land. I thought Mac SW was supposed to be user friendly but this is the worst install I've ever faught on an XP machine. Would appreciate any insight.
... I've done all the clean uninstall/install... Install Quicktime stand alone. All of the suggested items on the list (first few pages) and still I get a Windows 'Send Error Report' popup when I launch either QT or iTunes. This is the Error Signature when I try to start Quicktime:
    EventType : BEX P1 : QuickTimePlayer.exe P2 : 7.50.61.0
    P3 : 4837c166 P4 : QuickTimePlayer.exe P5 : 7.50.61.0 P6 : 4837c166
    P7 : 0000130d P8 : c0000409 P9 : 00000000
I don't know what to try next... except sell my new iPod on eBay.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jason

The QuickTime problem will probably be causing the iTunes problem. (iTunes needs a properly functioning QuickTime in order to work correctly.)
So let's try swapping out your existing QuickTime again, taking a few additional explicit precautions.
Head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove any leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx. (If “Hide filename extensions for known file types” is enabled on the PC, then those two files will appear as “QuickTime” and QuickTimeVR”.)
    7. Restart your computer.
Next, we'll get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
Switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
Go into Add/Remove and select itunes. Click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. Does it launch properly now?

  • CS 5 won't open images from Lightroom 3

    Hi,
I just upgraded to CS5 from CS3, and I've been using Lightroom 3 since it came out. The installation went fine. After working on some images in Lightroom 3.3, I tried to open them in CS5 12.02, and strange things started to happen. Some times the images open, some times they don't. This applies to NEFs, TIFFs, and PSDs. Sometimes when I try to open an image from my Lightroom catalog, CS5 mysteriously opens small jpegs of photos that are not even in my catalog. In fact, they are images I don't even recognize and did not even know were on my computer.
I called Adobe Customer Support. They were helpful, and they had me set CS5 as my external editor as well as being the primary editor. They also helped me reset my preferences for both Lightroom and CS5. This seemed to work, but when I opened Lightroom and CS5 the next day, the problem started happening again, even when I open images in CS5 using the second external editor.
I spent over and hour on the phone with Customer Support the first time, and I'm trying to get help elsewhere before I call again.
I have a MacBook Pro running Leopard 10.5.8 with 4 GB of RAM.
Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Another expirience is, when I try to open directly from Photoshop any other image, Photoshop ignores the XMP and opens the original file without any modification.
That's normal if the raw files were originally edited in Lightroom. Lightroom stores all edits in the catalog, not the xmp sidecar. You can set Lightroom to write to xmp as well, but that slows it down a little and so it's off by default. The Lightroom shortcut ctrl/cmd+S will also save to xmp.
I do have a warining at several images in Lightroom = "metadates have been changed - would you like to overwrite data or import ?"
That's related to the above, and also normal if you go the other way - edit in ACR and then move to Lightroom. It'll then be in xmp, but not the Lightroom catalog.
As for the missing on-screen image, that's a common video driver bug (although I suppose other causes are possible). For Windows you can download updated drivers directly from the manufacturer's website, but that's not possible with Mac. You'll have to wait for Apple to fix it.

  • CS3 Suddenly Won't Open Images

I've been using CS3 forever with few problems. All of the sudden, today it quit opening images. The program loads and opens without any problem, but I can't open any images. I have rebooted about 5 times and disconnected all plug-in equipment (ipod, printer, etc.) Can anyone tell me how to fix this??
I found a thread on this topic in the Mac forum, but it hasn't helped me. The problem there seemed to be images on a disk, but the images I'm trying to open are on my harddrive. VERY FRUSTRATING! Thanks in advance for any help!!

hit file> open. then hit ESC. then try to open again.

  • CS4 won't open images w/Mavericks; no error message, just no image. Anyone else?

I got a message from Apple a couple of weeks ago to "download Mavericks for free!" and figured, why not? What I didn't anticipate was that my Photoshop CS4 would stop working immediately afterwards, a fact that has disrupted my work and caused big problems for me. Not happy.
I can open the Raw preview screen but when I click to open the image from there, nothing. No image. Yet when I go to shut down Photoshop, it asks me if I want to save the file. Which I can't see! Even jpgs will not open.
The guy at the Genius Bar ran diagnostics on my computer and all was fine. Told me to uninstall then reinstall Photoshop, but that didn't fix it. He said if I wanted to downgrade back down to Lion, I'd have to have my entire compture wiped clean. NOT a good solution. So...
I called Adobe. The fellow there didn't have an answer for me either; also suggested doing an uninstall/install. Told him that didn't help. He said he had no suggestions other than to buy CS6. So...
I've been perusing forums and chat rooms and not finding anything that matches my particular problem. Unlike other users on CS4/Mavericks threads, I don't get an error message regarding licensing and I did download the newer Java (per a prompt after initially downloading Mavericks). At this point I'm assuming CS 4 just doesn't work with Mavericks (I have a 2-year-old MacBook Pro) and I'm really annoyed. Had I known this would happen, I wouldn't have downloaded Mavericks; my computer was working just fine and right now I can't afford new software. So...
Anyone have any suggestions for making CS4 work when the licensing error ISN'T being triggered?

    Eustace: thanks for your response.
I trashed the com.adobe.Photoshop.plist, as instructed, then tried to open a file. I was so excited because it opened! Then - to check - I closed Photoshop, opened it up again, tried again and.... nothing. Back to the invisible files. Grrrr.
I notice there is also a com.adobe.Photoshop.plist.lockfile. Should I trash that as well?
