PS CS6 will not update to Camera Raw 7.2

I have a fully licenesed version of CS6, along with LR 4.x. LR updated to Camera Raw 7.2 about a week ago. PS CS6 (extended 64) will not find the update. It is a pain in my sitter every time I go to edit a photo to see a warning. I do not want to hide the warning though. I want the update. Any thoughts... Adobe has about an hour wait time for technical support. A reinstall is not something I would like to do. Thanks in advance.

What happens when you choose Help - Updates... from within Photoshop itself?  Anything?
There's a manual installation package available...  I scared these links up from other forum threads.  I'm not sure where there "official" page is.  They seem to be changing policies as we go along.

  • Bridge CS4 will not update to Camera Raw 5.7 on one of my computers.

Bridge (CS4) will properly display my Nikon NEFs (from my Nikon D3 & D3S) on my old Mac Pro (Lion 10.75) but only the NEFs from the D3 are displayed on the exact same program on my MacBook Pro Retina - Mavericks).
I have followed Adobe's instructions perfectly, over and over again, but no matter what I try (and I did try some variations) I cannot update from Camera RAW Preferences.Version 5.0.0.178 on the MacBookPro Retina.
The Camera RAW preferences Version on the older Mac Pro computer's identical copy of Bridge CS4 is Version 5.7.0.213.
I tried opening and installing a download of Camera_Raw_5_7.dmg from Adobe and I also tried dropping in the Camera Raw plugin file from the older computer but nothing works. I have emptied the cache several times.
I dont know if this is significant but when I first started trying to do this, I could not find the Plug-Ins folder in the Adobe file on the MacBook Pro Retina, so I copied the one from the Mac Pro's Adobe folder.
Please help. I can only use Bridge on my older desktop computer because of this problem.
    Thank you.
    Jan

Well, Jan, over the years I've helped many Mac users with this precise problem, and I even posted screen shots showing the path to the correct plug-in folder for ACR.  However, in your case all those images won't help and I won't be able to generate new ones for you for one simple reason: I do not use Mavericks and never will because my Mac Pro desktops cannot go above Lion, FORTUNATELY. Mavericks is still cr@p at this point.
All I can do is try to clarify a few misconceptions for you:

…I read that about the root level library when I first tried to follow the instructions from Adobe and I thought that I was doing exactly that. Instead of the library associated with my name, I found the library associated with my hard drive. I suspect that I have not yet even seen the root level library…
Jan, that is the ROOT LEVEL Library.
Getting back to your advice, I do not understand what you mean by mounting the .dmg file as if it were a DVD or external hard drive.
I mean just that.  A Disk Image file (.dmg) is a virtual disk, like a virtual DVD.  You double click on that file in the Finder and it will then mount just as if you had inserted a DVD into your computer.  It will then show you the contents it carries.  I will not be at my computers for a few weeks, so I can't be sure about all that the Disk Image for that update shows; but somewhere in there will be the ACR Plug-in.  That's what you need to copy from the Disk Image to your hard drive and install it in its correct location, NOT THE BLOODY .dmg file, for goodness sakes!
Do you understand that once you are at the ROOT LEVEL Library you DO NOT go to the Plug-ins folder therein?  Read the instructions again.  What you want is to continue the path through the Application Support folder /Adobe / Plug-ins / etc.
This old screen shot may help. Command or Control-Click on the thumbnail to see the full image in a new window, then scroll horizontally; it is a VERY wide image:
Also, if I delete the Plug-ins folder that I copied from my other computer's installation of Bridge CS4. Should I reinstall the entire CS4 suite from the original disks and start all over again. If so, I read somewhere that I will need to somehow deactivate my serial number from the products as installed on my MacBook Pro so that I may reinstall it.
Delete anything you may have copied yourself only if you are 100% sure what that is. But DO NOT REINSTALL ANYTHING without first uninstalling using the Adobe UNINSTALLER that was installed in your Utilities folder inside your Applications folder.
Whatever possessed you to go around copying folders from a different Mac OS version? ???  That is insane! Geez…
Why the heck do you keep talking about Bridge? ??? !!!  Bridge has absolutely NOTHING to do with the installation of ACR.  NOTHING!
ACR is installed at the OS level and can be hosted indistinctly by Photoshop or by Bridge from the same location.
Bridge is totally out of the loop in this discussion, just as it is when you are using ACR hosted by Bridge.  All Bridge does is call upon the appropriate application, whether this be Photoshop, Adobe Camera Raw (ACR), Illustrator or even Microsoft Word and hand it the file, period.  You could use ACR for years without ever launching Bridge, even without having Bridge installed. Ever.

  • My CS5 will not update to Camera Raw 6.7.

When I run the updater, continue to get error saying my product does not have valid serial number.  Adobe says my version is registered.  What gives?

This link is for Creative Cloud products, but a lot of it would come under the heading of 'The bleeding obvious'.

This is more of a catch all CS5 trouble shoot guide

Incidentally, and sorry if this also comes under bleeding obvious, but to restrict Google to where you want it to look, use the following syntax
site: http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop  followed be search parameters
If you have ever registered your CS5, you can log onto your Adobe account and check your serial number against the one you will find in 'My orders'.
But it might come down to phoning customer support, but make that your very last resort
Good luck, and please let us know what fixes it.

  • CS6 will NOT update

For some reason, my Photoshop CS6 will NOT update.  I have a Mac Pro with Mountain Lion installed.  I've tried uninstalling all of CS6 and reinstalling, to no avail.  No matter what I do when checking for updates in Photoshop CS6 (13.0), it tells me there are no updates available.  Any ideas on what may be wrong?
On the same note, I'm not getting notifications on Camera Raw Updates, either.

You can manually download and install updates until your problem is solved.

I just installed elements 11 with camera raw 7.1 in my iMac. My raw photo files from iPhoto will not open in camera raw. The elements screen opens without a photo, but camera raw willnot open. Help.

You need to tell iphoto to send raw files out of iphoto or it will make its own conversion and send a pre-converted file. Go to the iphoto preferences>advanced and turn on this checkbox:

  • Dreamweaver CS6 will not update.

My Dreamweaver CS6 will not update even though the updater program claims success.  I am trying to update to 12.3.  My existing version is 12.0 Build 5861.
    I noticed that user named
       wpccdistancelearning
has had the same problem, but I have not noticed any solutions provided.  I'm having the same problem as others with Dreamweaver saying that "Synchronization information can not be found... "  Putting an edited file will not update on the web site server.

Like I mentioned, I'm not sure about version 12.3, but this post seems to have some info that might help you...
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1283959
As for the Synchronization issue, are you just doing a normal Put (up arrow icon) or are you attempting a Synchronize (small circular arrows icon)?
Using an actual Put action shouldn't care about synchronization info and if it were missing you should have the option to Put anyway.

  • CS6 will not update, say program is still open when it is not. How do I close it?

I tried to update CS6 and it crashed the computer.(Win 7- 64bit) After a System Restore, I still had to reinstall CS6. It works fine now, but refuses to do any updates. (Camera Raw 7, etc) It says "Please close the following applications to continue. Adobe Photoshop CS6 (Photoshop.exe)" The program is not open according to the Task Manager. I have been trying everything on the site. CC Cleaner for Adobe, et al. Please help, what am I missing?

restart your computer and then try to update via aam before opening ps.

  • Tiff previously edited in ACR will not open in Camera RAW from Bridge

Yes, I have googled this and found instances going back to 2010 with no satisfactory answer. I have Photoshop 5.1 and the latest ACR and Bridge that work with it. 2011 MAC Mini 10.8.2.
I scanned a landscape oriented printed email image at 800 spi as a portrait orientation and saved it as a tiff. I opened this tiff in Preview and decided it needed more than minor tweaks so I opened it in ACR from Bridge, made a few adjustments and saved it. I thought I could see what I was doing better if it was in landscape orientation again so I opened it in Preview and rotated 90 deg CCW, saved it as a tiff. Going to Bridge I found Open in Camera Raw greyed out. I went back to Preview to see if I could get what I needed in its Tools while viewing it in landscape. Adjustments took forever this time, so I gave up and took a look at the image characteristics. Rotating in Preview had changed the image size to 3.3333...... times larger at 240 ppi still aRGB, still a tiff. This has never happened before, including slow adjustments
I duplicated the rotated file and changed it back to 800 ppi and normal size, went to Bridge, Camera Raw still greyed out. Original unrotated image
that had been edited in ACR and saved will still open in ACR.
All kinds of strange things have happened since updating to 10.8.2, but I don't think this is one of them because of the complaints I have seen that date back to 2010. I did a full maintenance routine, i e cleared RAM, reboot in single user with fsck -fy, repaired permissions, back up with SuperDuper which repairs permissions again. Then I tried Bridge again, original will open, rotated won't.
    Anyone know the answe?

The answer is that making edits in ACR and saving it creates layers in the tiff and Bridge will then not open it again in ACR unless you flatten it. I still don't know why Preview increased the image size by 3.333.....x or why ACR increased the tiff file size by 2.6x and why the flattened tiff is 2x the file size of the original scan but the image dimensions are the same. This stuff apparently is above the pay grade of anyone in google, too.

  • Can not update to Camera Raw 6.7

I can't open Canon Raw Files so I tried to update Camera Raw in Photoshop CS5.
On screen I see the updating process but ultimately I get a message saying:
"There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later"
I've tried several times to no avail.

  • Elements 10 does not update the Camera RAW 6.6 file

I have downloaded Camera RAW 6.6 mul zip file.
When I try to open it Elements 10 says ERROR. Cannot open this type of file.
    This is the problem

    Hi,
When you tried the manual instructions, did you get the same error code or a different message?
The error code U41m1c212 basically means that your PC isn't connecting to the Adobe update server - could be a firewall or anti-virus software problem. Downloading and installing manually should have avoided that connection problem.
After you downloaded the file, did you unpack it?
If you go to the top of this page, there is a search box. If you enter U41m1c212 there it will find lots of entries with various suggestions that may help.

  • CS6 will not update through Creative Cloud Desktop

Im having trouble getting any of my CS6 apps to update through the Creative Cloud desktop app. The CC apps seem to have installed correctly and to open without a problem, but the  updates for CS6 just wont even download. I just get an "update failed" on each app. I'm running an iMac. I've looked around at other threads but couldn't find anything specific to this. I did follow the instructions for the OOBE file but that didnt seem to help either. Any help would be appreicated.

    Anirudh-
Thank you for the feeback but that didnt seem to help either, I tried with a couple of the CS6 apps and I get this in the error log:
    Extension Manager 6.0.5 Update
    Installation failed. Error Code: U44M1P7
...it seems that its the extension manager that is the issue. Is there something specific i need to do to get that particular app to install correctly?

  • When will Lightroom be updated with camera raw 8.7?

    Hi Folks,
Can anyone tell me when LR will be updated with camera raw 8.7, containing support for the new Nikon D750 camera?
    Many thanks for any feedback

Until you convert to DNG you wont be able to import the 750 NEFs into Lightroom.
As I am a Windows user I'm not sure what you mean about Command R but to use the DNG convertor you need to download from the link and install it.
Then you start up the convertor as a separate application and you will see the following panel:
Then choose the Images to Convert
Select a location to save the converted images (defaults to the same location as the input images)
Rename the images if you so wish (Default is just to creat a file of the same name with DNG extension)
Then Convert and after the conversion you will be able to import the DNG files into Lightroom 5.6
Then it doesn't matter if you have Camera RAW 8.7 in CS6 as they will open directly from LR to CS6 as you would normally do.
I guess it is a little inconvenient because you have an additional step to convert the NEF to DNG but it at least get you there in the meantime while you are waiting for the final LR product.
    Enjoy!

  • Update to Camera Raw 7.0??

There is a bug that seems to occur randomly when I go to edit in CS5 from LR4.
I get a window that asks me to update to Camera Raw 7.  There are a series of buttons re: 'how to proceed.'  After checking for an update, it's pretty clear that this is a LR4 issue.
I'm not sure if this matters, but I thought you might like to know about this.

    Anthony,
Can I just be clear on what you are saying.  Are you saying there will be no Camera Raw updates until CS6 is released?
If so how will CS5 etc handle compatibility with the new processing (eg PV2012)?
Or are you saying that there will not be a Camera Raw 7.0 release before CS6 but there may an interim update to 6.6.
What is the source of your information?
    Cheers,
    Myke
Camera Raw 7.0 will be released when Photoshop CS6 is released, and will not be compatible with any previous versions of Photoshop.  That simply means that you would have to either upgrade or tell Lightroom not to display that message again.  Then it would be necessary to have Lightroom create a PSD or TIF image and pass that to Photoshop.  That method seems to work just fine.  That's how I was using Lightroom 3 with Photoshop CS3 before I upgraded my Photoshop.  And that's how I will use Lightroom 4 with Photoshop CS5 because I don't have any plans to upgrade.  I don't use Photoshop enough to justify another upgrade at this point.  Lightroom is what I use for practically all of my post processing.
