PS Elements 3 on Vista?

I just bought a nice Epson printer that includes Elements 3. I could really make use of the software but it won't load on my Vista driven system. Is there anything I can do to make this work or will I need to go buy something new?

What I'm not seeing is when I mouse over the icons on the left side, the name of what the icon is called doesn't appear in a little white box like it did in pse3. I may have done something when trying to lighten up the program and changed something I shouldn't have. I don't think it's a problem with pse7, just me. I was having a hard time reading the words across the top- file, edit, image, etc. I found in preferences where to lighten it and may have checked something I shouldn't have.

  • Elements 10 - Vista installation probems

I am trying to upgrade elements 6 to elements 10.  The computer is a Dell XPS 420 running Vista (32 bit) with 2GB RAM and loads of free disk space.
If I install from the main admin account, it invariably hangs when copying files - never the same file that it can't find.
If I install from another account with admin privilidges it sometimes gets as far as installing organiser then hangs and tells me "Bootstrapper application has stopped working".
I have tried disabling the virus checker but no joy.
Can anyone help - I have wasted hours on this Grrrrrrrr!

    Thanks Jeff,
I was just trying to find the knowledge base when a web chat invite popped up.
Anyhow we could not get the thing to install from the disks but I ended up downloading a trial version from the web and registering that!  The main thing is that I am ready to play!

  • Elements 11, Vista Home Premium, Expert Edit Enhance/Adjust Lighting

I have a Vista Home Premium and Elements 11.  When using Expert Edit Enhance to Adjust Lighting, the edit "tool" box covers a large part of the image.  I can't figure out how to move the box out of the way so I can see the image being edited.  (Everyone in the world probably knows how to do this but me.)  Anyone else have this problem?
    Thanks,
    Norm.

There are several adjustments under the Adjust Lighting and if your talking about the dialog that opens with say Levels you should be able
to left click on the top part of the dialog and drag the dialog.

  • Elements 4 on Vista - How to make it work.

I've been trying E4 on a Vista based PC. Most of it appeared to work straight off although the splash screen has a black band around it - no big deal.
One thing that didn't work - and there may be others - was sharing images via email. The pop-up windows were blank and E4 hung.
I then run E4 with Administrator Priviledges - which is not the Vista default - and the problems went away.
So, if something weird is happening try running with Administrator Priviledges. You can try this first by right clicking on the desktop icon and selecting Run as Adminstrator ( I think thats the wording as I'm on XP right now). If this works you can make it a permanent option by selecting the Properties option for the launch icon.

  • Elements 7 editor has stopped working

Dear elements 7 community, I have using elements 7 for four years on my windows 7 computer with very little problem. It seemed a very stable program. This program came free. I also use Lightroom 4
However now my elements editor has stopped working. Either a windows dialogue box appears stating that elements is not responding and it is looking for solutions. Or more often you try and launch one of the editing suites like "guided edits" and it starts to load for a second and then reverts back to the fix page. An edit in progress message appears across the loaded image even though nothing was achieved.
Could any of you accomplished users tell me the problem. Feel free to ask for more information. Thank you

No. It would have fixed it if that were the issue.
Did you make sure you have enough virtual memory allocated for Photoshop Elements to use when you went through the troubleshooting. I have a DELL. I had to change my virtual memory setting to get Photoshop CS3 to run.  With the factory Page File setting, Photoshop would crash immediately with the generic Windows message about Photoshop needing to close and Windows is looking for a solution.
    See this document for specifics.

On the Vista machine: Unless you have UAC (Vista's User Account Control) turned off,  you'll have to be the administrator and give permission to yourself to do this. Not sure about your Windows 7 machine...
Step 4 in the above is a bit vague. They want you to click under System on the sentence that says "See the name of this computer". In the screen that pops up, look in the left hand pane for "Advanced System Settings" and click it. In the dialog that pops up select the "Advanced tab". In the box that is headed by Performance, click Settings. Next go to the "Advanced" tab that comes up in this dialog. Next to the word Virtual Memory click the change button. Change to desired custom size on this screen.
Here's a tut with screen shots:

If you don't know the amount of RAM, your computer has:  Click the Vista start icon; then right click the word computer in the right hand pane; select Properties. A screen displaying all of your computer specs including amount of RAM installed will come up.

okay guys, i am going to copy and paste the system requirements for you so that you can see if your computer actually meets them. I realised that whilst i'm having problems, I should at least attempt to help others too! to check, go onto (Vista) control panel/system and maintenance/system .

With a minimal system, I would strongly recommend looking over the tips in this ARTICLE, which will help getting the very most from your computer, for an editing session.
There are several FAQ entries (accessed via the link to the right of the main forum screen), on optimizing Vista, one's computer, and also setup to help with video editing. I strongly recommend reading down those entries, as they are filled with great and useful tips.

  • Upgrade Album2 - Elements 6, with change of platform and computer

I posted this in Album Forum but it has been suggested that I repost in Elements Forum as anyone who has already had the same question is probably already here:
I have searched the forums and knowledge base for the issue that faces me and while there is a lot of very useful information most deals with one aspect alone or circumstances that are slightly different - unless I have missed one.
I currently have Album 2 (full version) with about 5000 photos along with tags etc, running on Windows XP.
I have just purchased a windows Vista Home Premium machine and Elements 6/Premiere 4. I wish, obviously, to transfer the photos and files along with thumbnails/catalog to the new machine. In doing this, it appears that I am doing three things that are not necessarily straight forward:
    (1) Transferring machines where the directory structure is not the same
    (2) Transferring platform from XP to Vista
    (3) Upgrading to Elements 6 which I understand does not use the same catalog structure and file locations as earlier versions of Elements.
So, while there are useful forum posts on upgrading, say, between album and elements 4, the changes between Elements 4 and 6 make me a little wary. I can pick up individual KB articles and posts on individual stages but I would be grateful for any advice from those who know more, or have done the same, on the order or actions to get between Album 2 XP to Elements 6 Vista. I suspect that done properly it is no major drama but done poorly is a recipe for long agony!
Thanks for any and all advice.

    jabro,
I am not sure what to suggest next -
1- You could contact Adobe tech support and ask for the complimentary installation support for PS Elements version 6 and describe your Catalog upgrade problem.
2- Because you are upgrading from PS Album to PS Elements 6, I think that most of your Creations will not be usable in PS Elements 6. So I am wondering about your creating a new copy of your catalog in PS Album 2 and deleting all of your Creations from that copy of your catalog?
My objective here is to simplify your PSA 2 catalog as much as possible. I don't know if it is the Creations that cause a problem in the conversion: it is merely that if you can not use them anyway they are a good candidate for deletion.
3- I wonder if some specific type of file or even a specific file is a problem. What type of photo files do you have in your PSA 2 catalog? Any video files and what type?

  • ITunes Causing Vista BSOD with RAID Errors

This thread is here to collate as much information and posts on the problem regarding BSODs occuring in Windows Vista and causing RAID errors to occur.
What Happens: Start iTunes and start performing a hard drive intensive task (Importing, converting etc). iTunes will seem to 'freeze', in some cases up to five minutes, but will regardless cause Windows Vista to BSOD. On restart the RAID array will complain of errors. Most cases are that restarting again and clearing the error will be fine, though there are some reports that people have had to rebuild their array.
Common Elements: Windows Vista, iTunes, Intel RAID Chipsets (ICH6R, ICH7R and ICH8R chipsets reported so far.

Custom Intel based Generic PC   Windows XP Pro   750GB NAS Storage, DVDRW DL, 5th Gen 80GB iPod, 2nd Gen 8GB Nano (Both Black)
I'm running a dual boot with WinXP Pro SP2 as the primary OS, Vista RC1 on separate partition. I had Vista Ultimate (RC1) Release Candidate 1, a pre-release version of Vista up and running with iTunes version 7.1.1. Updating My Library, when system crashed and trashed my array.
I was running 2 400GB WD's when my RAID 1 erred. The array corrupted and after limping through several array rebuilds and Windows repairs, Win XP finally died and was unrecoverable.
I originally suspected an issue with Vista & iTunes, especially since I was running a pre-release version of Vista then I remembered reading a recent WD Support issue about some newer WD SATA Gen 2 drives failing in RAID arrays.
To make a long story short, thank God for my back-up NAS Drives, I lost my array. Traced the problem to a Raid compatibility issue with the WD drives running in full SATA ATA Gen 2 transfer rate mode and the Intel ICHR8 SATA RAID Controller. They don't play nice together when stressed with large file transfers. Replaced WD's with two Seagate 750's in RAID 1, running full SATA Gen 2 mode and have had no problems since.
Check out WD's Support forums, if you have newer WD's I'll bet it's a SATA RAID / Drive issue more than iTunes and Vista.

  • CS2, Vista, and problems with raw files

Hello everyone. I have recently installed CS2 with RAW updates 3.6 on my new computer, which happens to have Vista on it. The RAW files I created with my Nikon D80 are not showing in Bridge either as thumbnails or when I click on them to enlarge them.
Does Adobe plan to address this problem through future downloads?
Any suggestions? I may be slow to respond since I will be out of town this weekend.
    Thanks!

I've seen some strange things happen with Photoshop Elements on Vista. Some of it worked some didn't.
The security features of Vista are a bit too much at times and I got Elements to work by running the program with Administrator Priviledges.
It might be worth a try. Right click on the desktop icon and select Run as Administrator ( or something similar - I'm not on a Visa PC right now)

  • I can not register premiere elements 12

i have installed premiere elements 12 on my computer and it appears to have installed correctly. When I go to execute the file, it asks me to register the program and when I put in my adobe username and password, I get a continous hourglass circle and it is basically frozen. What can I do? I am running windows vista 64 and have been told this software is compatible with this operating system. Please help me!

Thanks for the replies. Sorry that the news is not better.
Yes, in a current thread, a user is having Premiere Elements 12 Sign In problems.
Unable to sign in to Premier 12 with valid adobe ID
Interestingly, you and Unable/lowengr have the program on Vista, you 64 bit, Unable/lowengr 32 bit.
On might be quick to think Premiere Elements 12 - Vista problem.
    However....
I have Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 7 64 bit and Windows 8.1 64 bit. And, I dread the thought of having to uninstall
it since every time I have had to do that it was a major hassle at Sign In time. Success was found each time, but not without
a lot of troubleshooting as reflected in the blog posts cited.
If it would not jeopardize the timing for a product refund, you might consider trying to download and install the free tryout
of Premiere Elements 13 from Adobe to see how it fares with your Windows Vista 64 bit computer environment.
You realize that you are not using either 12 or 13 to its full potential in the Windows Vista 64 bit computer. In that operating system
it is only a 32 bit application and running in the 32 bit compatibility mode of the 64 bit system. Significant resource issues related to
getter a larger project done with resource demanding formats. Premiere Elements 12 and 13 Windows are 64 bit applications only when
    on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
    Please review and consider.
    Thank you.

  • ACR 4.6 and PSE6 Organizer still crashes

I posted this a long time ago for ACR 4.5 and I'm gonna do it again for CR 4.6. Please read below I'm still having the same problem with ACR 4.6 (BETA).
I'm experiencing the following problem when I download ACR 4.5 to be used with PSE6.
The problem is that the PSE6 Organizer crash when I try to open the Organizer Preferences. Aparently this only happens with Windows
Vista because I know of other users with XP and they are not expiriencing this.
I did try it with the original ACR 4.2 and works well.
I did try it with the previous ACR 4.4 and works well.
It only happens when you install the 4.5 and go to the Organizer's Preferences.
And stills happens with ACR 4.6.
When I contact the Adobe Customer Support they told me to wait until the new version of ACR, well I guess that nobody there analyze/investigate/test my issue.
    Regards
    Hector

    Héctor,
I ran ACR 4.5 for a short while with Photoshop Elements under Vista Home Premium without ever seeing your problem.
Being a Mac user accustomed to the full version of Photoshop, which I still use on my Mac desktop, I was so frustrated by the limitations of Photoshop Elements I was running on the Windows Vista laptop that I asked for a refund from Adobe (and got it too). But I never had anything crash on me while running ACR 4.5 on it.
