PS Elements 5.0 question

I need to print 1"x1" photos for ID badges. I can't figure out a way to print 4 identical pictures on a 4"x6" piece of photo paper. I could do this with PS Elements 3.0, but I deleted 3.0 when I loaded 5.0 (I can't find my old 3.0 program disk). I really need to start printing my pictures ASAP. Any help would be appreciated.

Some math elements appear as question marks in equations - FM9/Win7Pro

Hello everyone,
I am facing the issue that some math elements appear as question marks in equations; for example, the summation and angle symbols.
The approximately equal or the alpha symbols, for example, appear correctly.
The symbol font is installed.
System specs:
FrameMaker 9 with the latest patches installed.
Windows 7 Professional with the latest updates installed.
The strange thing is that math elements appear correctly using virtual computers on my computer (Windows XP and Windows 7 Ultimate on VMWare).
Same maker.ini file and fonts are present on all (real and virtual) computers.
I have reinstalled FrameMaker already on my real computer (where I have the trouble) and it did not solve the issue.
I have checked (I think) all question mark related topics (when question marks are displayed instead of the correct characters) on this site, but none of them provided the solution to my problem.
I would appreciate your help!

Thank you for your response.
I use Adobe PDF as the default printer on both the real and virtual computers and I do not know the SetPrint utility.
I see the question marks appear in the FM files as well as in the printed PDF. It makes me think it is not a printing issue.
c:\windows\fonts is provided as the Font Source in the Embedding box for the Adobe PDF printer both on my real computer and my virtual one.
The SymbolMT font is listed in both cases in the Embedding box, which is (probably) referred to as Symbol Regular when I open the c:\windows\fonts folder using Windows Explorer. No other symbol fonts seem to be installed in this folder. I do not know how to check what other folders FM considers.
By the way, I can insert the summation character, for example, as a simple character using the Equations editor correctly, the problem comes when I try to insert it as a math element.

Photoshop Elements 10 Installation Question

How can I tell if my software installed properly? The software came with three discs, and it only installed the first disc. I am new to Photoshop, and do not know if my software installed properly? Can anyone help?

Thank you for your quick replies. I have checked,and my OS is indeed 64 bit. I have been using the 32 bit version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10, since I installed it last evening. I have a few quick questions;
Will I loose any functionality if I stay with the 32 bit version versus un-installing and installing the 64 bit version from disc 2?
If I decide to un-install, and re-install from disc 2, will there be any software registration issues (as I have already registered the software)?

Photoshop Elements 5.0 Question - Barbara Brundage

I saw in Staples Photoshop Elements 5.0 after rebates the cost was $39.99.
I currently have Elements 4. Disappointment because not be able to
create a DVD slideshow and show on TV screen.
Question: Does Elements 5.0 software as shown in the Staples ad and

Since your main objective is to create DVD slideshows, you should take a
look at ProShow Gold (http://www.photodex.com/products/proshowgold/).
ProShow Gold is designed specifically for making slideshows and gets top
reviews.
Premiere Elements is designed to make digital movies. I've used it to
create create slide shows with excellant results, but, if all you want is
slide shows, ProShow Gold is probably a better bet.
The current version of Premiere Elements is version 3.0 and you can buy it
separately. However, the feature that let's you create a slideshow in
Photoshop Elements and pass it to Premiere Elements 3.0 to burn a DVD only
works with Photoshop Elements 5.0 not 4.0.
Photoshop Elements 4.0 works with Premiere Elements 2.0. If you are using
Photoshop Elements 4.0, you will have to import the slides into Premiere
Elements 3.0 and create the entire slide show there.

Add People in Elements 13 (Second Question)

This is probably an issue of software stability - possibly tied in with the first and similar titled question (AdobeFan27 - 28 Sept 2014). Tried Troubleshooting face recognition issues in Organizer which didn't help.
I have a new load of PSE13 and have imported over 6,000 photos in small batches. Using the Add People button with each batch has increasingly become less and less reliable. Each time it's failed to work I have usually found a computer restart has been necessary to make it work again (although sometimes a second restart has been required). Finally today it has completely stopped working and only a reload of the software has enabled it to Add People again. At each of the failures I have tried closing down applications (like Explorer and Chrome, Outlook and other Office applications) and I could not identify any one application that might have been a cause of the problem.
The visual cue to Add People not working is..... >click on Add People >windows flash open and close - these have the appearance on "doing its thing" and then instantly closing - too fast to read anything though.
I hope this is a common bug that is coming to light because it would be a pain to have to reload PSE13 each time I cannot get Add People working.
I will add to this post IF I can identify more symptoms. I am also able to respond to Adobe Support staff with additional information if it'll help.

I have the same issues as you describe in your post.
Doing some Google searches lead me to believe that Adobe is not interested in this subject.
PSE11, 12 and 13 all seem to give the same problems.
"Add People", and "Mark Face" does nothing, and no improvement has been seen the last years.
I even tried Adobes chat, but after a few hours - mostly waiting for an inexperience person asking a new questiom I got i timeout waiting, and gave up.
Here is what I do:
1: Pressing "Add People"
2: Runs "People Recognition"
3: Displays "Analyzing Your media now"
4: Displays "No New People found in Your selection"
5: Press "Mark Face"
6: displays "People Analysis is yet to be performe on the selected media. Would you 7: like to start the analysis now? Yes No
8: Pressing Yes
9: and it is back to step 2
Upgraded from 11 to 13 at X-max. Updated to 13.1 yesterday. Win 8.1, 8G memory
(Have tried to rename breezesession.dat, and access rights seems fine. File reappears when Organizer is used.)

Lightroom open in elements editor raw question.

I have just got lightroom 3.3 and it imports my .dng raw files no problem. if I use the save metadata to file and try to open in elements editor it open the file as a .tiff. instead of opening it as a raw file with ACR. I think the roblem is the metadata is not being stored in the same directory as the image file but I can't see where to check/change this. I assume that is what is causing this to happen.

Photoshop elements mac, newbie questions for webshop

Hello all,
My name is Jelle and i have photoshop elements for mac, which i mostly use to create banners, headers and backgrounds for my website www.dagelijkseluxe.nl.
Though this is my question, i think there are a lot of people like me, bumping in the same problems. Maybe it's an idea to have a webshop webinar someday (or i missed it) for some basic functions mostly used for websites. Like easy banner creation, background adjustments for sites and products, best product presentation, etc.
Even though i mostly use the guided editing, i sometimes venture off and try to use the full editor. Now, this must be too easy for most of you powerusers, but the background of the webshop is still a bit to dark to my liking. However i feel i have reached all i can do with the different sliders presented in the guided tour.
Is there an easy way to "mistify" the background or any photo for that matter?
I also save the files as PNG as per recommendation from the sitebuilder. what's the difference with interlaced and non interlaced saving.

You could use:
Filter >> Blur >> Gaussian Blur
That should mystify or blur your image.
Interlaced is a better method for displaying mainly large images on monitors - but you get a slightly larger file. Small images tend to load very quickly so non-interlaced will keep the file size down.

Photoshop Elements 12 (GIF Question)

Can I edit .GIF files in Photoshop Elements 12?
I can drag the gif file into the program, but it does not show up animated.
I've test edited some gifs, but the only file that changes is the first layer of the GIF.
Help?

Yes you can. For animated gifs you place each frame on its own layer. Use 'Save for Web', select the GIF option, check 'Animate' and complete the animation section.

Elements 4.0 Question

I am using photoshop elements 4.0 and have a face shot but would like to add like an oval cloudy border around it. I'm new at using this program, did it several months ago to a different picture but now can't remember how to figure it out. Can anyone help me?

After reading your question again I see that I gave you a soft transition between the subject and border, but I missed the "clouds" part. Let's try again...
1. Set Foreground/Background colors to light and dark shades shades of your border color.
2. Create a new empty layer.
3. On the new layer, make your oval selection, invert it, and run Filter->Render->Clouds.
To generate starker cloud pattern, hold Alt while doing the render.
If too stark, soften with Gaussian Blur filter or Median Noise filter.
Of course you might also want to feather the selection.

1. Can I delete Adobe Photoshop Album Starter 3.0 (which was already loaded on my computer), now that I have Elements 5.0?
2. In Elements 5.0, where/how can I turn off its particular automatic detection/download of images from the camera (I'd like to make the choice myself, if possible)?
3. Is there a location on my computer (a PC laptop running XP) where the default for image viewers, like Elements 5.0, is indicated (I can find an indication for other defaults, but not, it seems for Elements 5.0, or other possible image viewers)?
4. Can Windows Media Player be used to view images? If so, does it have its own 'take over' default settings that can be changed?

Right click any file type you desired changed...for example any .jpg file...select Open With<Choose Default Program (even if Photoshop Elements is in the list)<click the icon for Photoshop Elements in the list of possible program. Leave the box that says: "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file." checked. Click okay.
Note: Doing it this way makes the setting sticky. If you had just selected Open With<Photoshop Elements, the file would open just that time in the specified program.
Note: This will effect all of that file type on your system...including e-mail...one reason you might not want to associate jpgs with Photoshop Elements.
You'll have to do this with each file type you'd like associated with Photoshop Elements. FWIW, many prefer having Windows fax and picture viewer as the default as it opens super fast...great for sneak peaks and the image is an icon. It can be frustrating waiting for Photoshop Elements to load when you want to look at a .jpg file. This is especially frustrating when you just want to see a photo someone has e-mailed you. You can quickly right click a file and select<Open With<Photoshop Elements or drag jpgs into Photoshop Elements.
4. You can view files with Windows Photo Gallery. See file associations in 3. Note: Your photos aren't really in Elements Organizer or Album for that matter. They're really were ever you download your images...most likely in your "My Pictures" folder. The Organizer and Album allow you to manage thumbnail representations of your images that at "connected"...can be used to quickly call them up from whatever folder in which they actually reside.
5. Not sure...although I'm fairly sure there are different transitions provided.
Hopefully, this will bump this up so someone else will jump in and fill the gaps.

Elements Organizer Problem - Question Marks and Application Won't Quit Cleanly

I recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements/Premier Elements 11 to version 13 on a Mac. After the upgrade, my elements organizer is experiencing some issues.
1. When I click on a double click on a thumbnail, I am taken to screen that has a large question mark on it. (Not the photo) Elements organizer knows exactly where the file is on my hard drive though as I can edit it in photoshop elements. In addition, I can right click on the thumbnail and select show file Info -> Double click on Location. When I do this I am taken do the correct file in finder.
2. My other issue is that the program doesn't close properly. If I choose Quit from the menu bar, the program GUI closes, but it stays resident in my dock. I have to force close in order to open the organizer again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Trying renaming your contacts.xml file. To access the file, you need to go - Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/adobe/elements organizer/organizer/settings I just named it "renamedfile.xml". A new contacts file will appear after you reopen the program.
I've had this problem a few times and renamed this file (after a support person from Adobe told me to the first time). It opens after I remaned it.
The contacts function of the organizer doesn't seem to be a stable. It always deletes entries that I want to add in.

Premiere Elements - Organizer Help/Question.

I have another posting out here but maybe I am not being clear enough so I will pose the question another way.
I have a .mp4 file which contains 60 short pieces (happens to be football highlights) all strung together as one contiguous video.
What I am simply trying to do is to break it down for making a handful of highlight videos, each with a different angle. (ex Offense, Defense, Rushing, Passing, etc)
This is the basic outline of how I logically see it happening. Problem is that I am can't figure out step 2:
1) Cut it down into 60 individual videos (which I did and currently have in my project) using the Split/Clip functions of Elements.
2) Save the pieces off as individual video clips so that they can be rated/ranked/categorized in Organizer.
3) Polish/edit the individual pieces.
4) Organize and assemble the various videos using the clips.
For the life of me I can't get
a) Elements to allow me to save of my projects as individual clips.
and
b) Get the Organizer to allow me to bring my clips in.
I am using PE 11.
Does this make sense? Does anyone have any insight to offer?

Ok, sounds good.
I will just have to squirrel away copies of my project then build my different flavors the hard way.
I may be look at other tools before I resort to that. I just hate to go through the headache of breaking it all down again but in the long haul could be worth it.
This just seems like the hard way to go about this task but then again I am a software guy and think in terms of reusable components. Maybe that mentality just doesnt work for video.

If I buy the Photoshop ELements 11 Download, meaning no hard copy is being sent to me in the mail, can I download it on my two computers? I own both a desktop and a laptop.

It doesnt matter if you have a hard copy or a downloaded copy.
As per the End User License Agreement (EULA), at any given instance you are eligible to install the software on 2 computers.

Photoshop Elements 4.0 question

I own Photoshop Elements 4.0. I am unable to download photos from my iPHone to my Windows laptop. The photo downloader reports it has encountered a problem and must shut down. Is there a solution?

Try downloading images directly to a folder on your hard drive, if possible.
Then use the Organizer menu:
File >> Get Photos & Videos >> From Files & Folders

Where/what is the upgrade for Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac OSX 10.5.8? Photoshop Elements 6 only works up to 10.5.2.

Photoshop Elements 10 Install Question

I purchased an upgrade to Elements 10. I hit the download button and it appeared to download the installer and then the program. When I came back the window was closed. Here's the hitch--I can't find the program on my computer. What do I need to do? Adobe is closed today and their chat person couldn't help. Thanks so much!!
