PS Elements 6 and extracting an image

I am just learning PSE6 and am thoroughly NOT enjoying it. I find the program confusing and complicated. However, I'm hoping to get some help here.
What I want to do is extract an image from a picture and place that image onto my website without any of the background attached. I'm finding this difficult to do...can anyone help?

In order to use the image on a web site, you must save it in a format that supports the transparent background. PSD, TIFF, PNG, PNG-24, GIF, EPS support transparency. JPG, BMP do not. Most likely you want GIF since this is supported by most web browsers.

Photoshop Elements 7 and Panasonic Raw images

I recently bought a Panasonic Luminex partly in order to shoot RAW images. My research told me that Photoshop Elements 6 and above would accept it. My PE 7 is telling me, however, that it cannot open the image because it is the wrong kind of file. Any guidance?

What model of Panosonic Lumix is it?
Unless it's Lumix DMC-GH1, then in all likelihood, you'll need to use the 8.2 dng converter
to convert your lumix camera raw files to dng copies, which then pse 7 should open.

Elements 9 and 16 bit images?

Simple Question - does anyone have a full list of what Elements 9 will allow with 16 bit images?

The best thing to do is open a 16 bit file and experiment with what's available.

Encode and Decode the Image

Hi,
I have a requirement like to encode the image(anyone of type:-jpg.gif) byte Array and placed into XML file.
I can use this xml file as datasource in BIRT,decode the byte data and bind to Image.
so I need to encode and decode the Image with predefined Libraries,
Could anyone Help to me.

Get the name of the file.
Read the file as bytes
Encode the bytes as base64 string
Insert name into a XML element
Insert base64 into a XML element
Reverse to extract.
Image libraries have nothing to do with that process.

Elements 10 and Adobe Revel

Do I have to upgrade to Elements 11 in order to add additional images to my gallery that was moved to Adobe Revel? I'm currently running Elements 10 and my new images dont seem to be uploading.

Transferring images from Elements 8 to Elements 12 and keeping album organisation

I upgraded from Elements 8 to Elements 12 early in 2014. How do I transfer all my E8 images in their proper category and album organisation into E12? (I cannot see them in E12). How do I stop E8 loading when I plug in a camera or card? Can I safely uninstall E8 without losing images and albums?

If I uninstall the older version, will I be able to continue working on
productions I have in progress right now? Specifically, I am half way
through two major productions combining still images (processed through

I used the ColorSync utility to verify, and it came back with this report:

I did not know what to do next. At the bottom of the window it said to go to www.apple.com/colorsync to find a tutorial. I got a message saying that link does not work. Tried to find the tutorial by searching at apple.com, but could not seem to locate it. Does anyone know what the report above means and what I should do about it?
Also, how to find that tutorial?
Re Using RGB all the way through, When I print from Photoshop Elements, I select Adobe RGB, Photoshop Manages under "Color Handling", Relative Colometric under "Intent" and "ColorSync" i the Epson printer box. Do you mean to do something different in this sequence?

Which operating system are you using?
Some filters like Filter>Sketch>Stamp need to have two different colors for the Foreground and Background set in the toolbox.
Press the D key to set the default toolbox color swatches to Black and White and then try the Stamp filter.
If your using mac os x 10.9 or 10.10, then some of the filters under Filter>Sketch will crash pse 11
They are Filter>Sketch>Comic, Graphic Novel and Pen and Ink
Otherwise resetting the pse11 editor preferences might resolve the crashing.
Go to Photoshop Elements Editor(Edit)>General, click on Reset Preferences on Next Launch and then restart the pse 11 editor

It is not unusual for me to have a half dozen + copies of a single image. I am not creating these additional images which appear spontaneously myself so system must be causing them. I have Elements 12 and operating system Windows 7.

1- The only way for picture files to be automatically added to the catalog is to allow the 'watch folders' option in the file menu and not choosing to have the organizer warn you of any addition. If those files are already in the catalog they should be ignored, only new files should be added.
2- Otherwise, there is a downloader option to ignore duplicates when you import from camera or card reader to avoid importing several times from the same card.
The Organizer considers files are duplicate when they have the same 'date taken' and size in Kb.

I saw Corey Barker do a demo where he extracted an image from the background, then cleaned up the edge with a process that allowed him to de-fringe it. I can't remember how he did it. And I can't find it. Help!

I saw Corey Barker do a demo a few weeks ago where he extracted an image from the background, then used a technique I was not familiar with to clean it up. You selected the area, then did something that involved going either to edit or select, then there was a dialog box that allowed you to dial it in, depending on the color background you were removing. I can't find this anywhere. Can't remember. It's driving me crazy! If someone can help me find this, I would be very glad and grateful. Thanks! Laura

In technical support, sometimes you have to make educated guesses. I'm sorry that you were offended.
iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.

Want to crop an image of car and extract number plate from it.

i have a problem in my project.I have to crop the edges of a car's image and i want to extract only it's number plate.The OCR i am using can not extract charcters which are skewed etc.Can i have a code through which i can crop an image and extract only specific part?

Cos it sounds extremely tricky to attempt.
If I was attempting this I might
1. Assume a fixed camera position.
So that I'd know what the road looked like without any cars.
Take a photo of this road as a "control background".
2. Assume a standard number plate system.
In Ireland, they've a white background, black lettering.
No italic writing.
Then, when I detect a car ( say more than 5% of the "control background" is covered ), I might try searching for the black & white lettering.
This might involve scanning the image from left to right, top to bottom, and defining rectangular ranges of black & white pixels.
( I'd allow multiple regions, so there could be more than 1 plate in the photo.
It might even pick up sign-writing on vans and cars ! )
That's just my initial quick idea of how to attempt it.
Could be easier ways...

Extract cluster element names and values automatically

Dear Labview forum,
I would like to extract cluster element names and values automatically
without prior knowledge of the cluster element size or contents.
I am able to extract the names but have some trouble with the values. (see attached VI)
I wish to write each the cluster element name and value in a string, and then write the string to a new line in a file.

This can become arbitrarily complex, because a cluster can contain many types of data, even other clusters, arrays, typedefs, etc. So getting a "value" of an element is not as easy as you might think. There is a reason you get a variant.
If all cluster elements are simple numerics you can use "variant to data" with the correct type. The attached shows a few possibilities. Modify as needed.

Extracting Base64 images embeded inside XML and Convert it into PDF using Biztalk

Hi,
I'm presently working in a scenario, where we will be getting huge XML Files containing Base64 encoded images. The scenario goes like this :-
1) Client will dump the XML files with embedded Base64 images in a sFTP location.
1) Firstly, we have to extract Base64 encoded images and the metadata from the XML file.
3) Secondly, we need to convert the extracted Base64 encoded image into multiple pdf.
4) Then merge the PDF's into a single file.
5) Then the merge pdf will store to a particular location.
5) It is presume that, the file will be of very big in size ~ 1 GB XML file, so we need to take care of the performance as well.
The sample xml looks like:-

Do you really need to use BizTalk for this requirement? This can be done better with standard .NET code through a Windows service/schedule task/ if you want to poll,
you can implement file watcher class and poll the file as when it arrive to SFTP folder and convert the image in base64 to PDFs.
Another point, I don’t know why you want to “convert the extracted Base64 encoded
image into multiple pdf” (Point-3) and “Then merge the PDF's into a single file”-
point4. You can create a single PDF file (unless I don’t know the reason for creating separate PDF file and merge it again as single PDF file)
Anyway, if you still need to use BizTalk, you have somes options in general:
Option1:
Receive the message using BizTalk receive location using passthrouhg pipeline at receive end
Create a send port with filter for receive portname. In the send port use a custom send pipeline. In the send pipeline use a custom pipeline component which will extract the base64 content from
the XML file, convert the base64 encoded image as PDF and send the PDF file in the send port level.
Option 2 – this options works better if you have some process based on your
<tranheader> record:
Receive the message using BizTalk receive location using a custom pipeline strip off, decode and store the base64
encoded document in a temporary store (file system). So when the message is published in message box db, the message doesn’t contain the heafty encoded64 data part, message will be light weight when its published into message box.
Process the XML message (without bae64 encoded document) with or without orchestration where you will do processing based on your
<tranheader> record.
In send last moment –at send port level, retrieve the stored file from the
temporary store (file system), convert the image to PDF (i,e, hefty processing like creation of PDFs/merging) can be done at the send pipeline level and send the PDF file
to destination.
Following are the guidelines you should keep in mind if you need to achieve this process in BizTalk:
Try to avoid publishing the hefty message to message box.
Conversion of base64 to PDF can be done only using a .NET code. So your options to do this conversion in BizTalk are either in Receive pipeline/send pipeline/ .NET helper in orchestration.
Try not to use Orchestration as much as possible, because of heavy processing and message transmission is already involved.

Adobe Elements 13 and Adobe Premier Elements 13 will not extract after dowloading as a pop-up advises that the archive file is missing.

Please send to me an installation CD or DVD for I wasted enough time attempted to install Elements 13 and premier Elements 13.
My operating system is windows 7 Ultimate and I have not had any problems installing Adobe Elements 8 thru 12 from CD or DVD.
