PS Elements 9-log file?
I installed a copy of Photoshop Elements 9 from a disk onto my Vista 64 operating system computer. I later removed it to see if it was conflicting with my new Epson Perfection V500 photo scanner that I could not get to work. I installed the PS Elements software and the scanner software onto an old Windows xp computer to see it would work. (It could). Now I want to reinstall the PS Elements 9 on my Vista 64 os computer because that is where I want to use it. But I can't, am getting the message "error opening installation file. Verify that the specified log file location exists and is writable." Exactly what log file would they be referring to? And is there a solution? Thanks
You can delete the file. It should generate a new log when you install again. If for some reason it doesn't you may want to look at the permissions which are set for that folder. You can find details on how to adjust security settings at Error "Exit 6" or "Exit 7" | Install log | Read, write, system file errors | CS5, CS5.5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-exit-6-exit-7.html.

"Error opening installation log file" when installing Photoshop Elements 10
I bought Photoshop Elements 10 , Premiere Elements 10 .... I got the Premiere to download no problem but i can't get the photoshop to download. This is the msg that I am getting when I try to dl it "Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file location exsists and is writable". Not sure why I can download one and not the other since they are both on the same disc. Plus in the program that I purchased I has 5 DVD's. Any suggestions??
Thanks

Mac mini freezes regularly - log file enclosed - what do I need to do?
Hi,
My mini crashes every couple of days - and has to be rebooted. I've been updating the OS and software regularly but it continues to freeze and has to be rebooted each time. I'm enclosing a typical log file from a crash. Any help / insight about what to do to fix this would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Jay

There are no media files on the mac mini just the library files and on external just media files..
Do I need to copy anything over from the old mac mini ? xml files ? .. the itunes folder on old mini is about 840mb in size which looks to have artwork ect ? .. I am fairly computer literate, but this one has me stumped.. ?

Log file in xml format: bad idea?
Hey
Im trying to write a class that will let other classes keep a log on whatever they want to. Whoever wants to write a message to a log file will call a function there, with the specified log name and the message, and my class will write it in xml format into the file.
Simple right? But here's the catch: in order to append a log into the file, I have to read it all first, then create the Element and add it to the root element. That meens that as the file grows, so will the time it takes to read it, and eventually log will take loads of time...
All this would not have happen otherwise, with simple text files, as all I have to do is to open the file for appending, which wouldn't take that much time.
So my questions are: Am I stupid to think this is possible with xml? Should I open the xml file as text file and then manipulate it? Are there any other possibilities?
Thanks for your help - UziWriting logs in an xml file is a very good idea and will later on provide you with a lot of flexibility to perform queries and how u want to display it.
Simple right? But here's the catch: in order to append
a log into the file, I have to read it all first, then
create the Element and add it to the root element.
That meens that as the file grows, so will the time it
takes to read it, and eventually log will take loads
of time...Why do you want to read the whole file for writing new elements. You dont have to do that. I have a simple idea for your problem.
e.g <logfile>
<log>
</log>
</logfile>
So now u want to add another log element. Use RandomAccessFile's length() method to find the size of the file.
Find the size of </logfile> e.g if it is sizeOfString.
Use RandonAccessFile's seek() method as follows
.......seek(lengthOfFile - sizeOfString);
This will move the pointer of the RandomAccessFile to this position. Next step is you can use writeBytes method to further write to this file.
That will increase the speed and performance and would give u great end results of an xml file. -
Log file analysis - BPELFault - process instance id
Hello,
I'd like to ask you is there any way how to log BPEL process instance id into log files when BPELFault is thrown.
For example in our production logs there are faults like this:
com.oracle.bpel.client.BPELFault: faultName: {{http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/03/business-process/}selectionFailure}
messageType: {}
parts: {{summary=<summary>XPath query string returns zero node.
According to BPEL4WS spec 1.1 section 14.3, The assign activity &lt;to&gt; part query should not return zero node.
Please check the BPEL source at line number "2109" and verify the &lt;to&gt; part xpath query.
Possible reasons behind this problems are: some xml elements/attributes are optional or the xml data is invalid according to XML Schema.
To verify whether XML data received by a process is valid, user can turn on validateXML switch at the domain administration page.
</summary>
But there is no information in which process and instance id it was occured.
There are many processes and instances in our prod server, so it is impossible to identify in which process and in which instance the error was occured.
Is there any way how to configure/implement it so in log file there will be also instance ID ?
For example
com.oracle.bpel.client.BPELFault: faultName: {{http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/03/business-process/}selectionFailure}
messageType: {}
parts: {{....}}
instance id: {12345678}
thank you very much.
RomanHi Roman,
Best way is create your fault handling framewrok. Where you create a BPEL process which stores all the faulted values in a table in DB and this BPEL process you can call from you catch blocks. In this way you can easily keep track of the errors and position where the error occurred. Also since you have put all the things in table you can generate reports for your production.

XMLForm Service message keep showing in the log file
Hello,
The message below keeps showing in the log file when the form is opening in Workspace ES. It keeps repeating like hundred times in the log file when the form is launching.
It just happen to some forms but not to all forms. I tried to see if there is any thing strange in the form but could not find any thing wrong in the form nor any explaination about this error on Adobe site or Internet. Note that I am still using LiveCycle ES 8.2.1 with SP3.

Warnings in the Upgrade Log file for OBIEE 11G from 10G
Hi,
I am new to OBI 11g.
I have installed simple type OBI 11g (version - 11.1.1.5.0) on a single server(Windows 2003, RAM-4GB,CPU-2.8GHz Dual Core ). I used upgrade assistant to upgrade the RPD & Webcat from 10.1.3.4.1 version to 11g, but I got about 50K warnings in the upgarde log file for the web catalog. They were basically 2 types as below -
1. [2012-02-24T13:17:48.255-05:00] [BIEE] [WARNING] [] [upgrade.BIEE] [tid: 14] [ecid: 0000JMk1k3lDkZKcyToYpk1FHuer000005,0] Invalid columnID reference 'c10' in views!
Does someone know this warning and if this requires a fix or it would not impact any reports or dashboards? This error is about 25K times in the upgrade log file.
2. [2012-02-24T12:20:04.162-05:00] [BIEE] [WARNING] [] [upgrade.BIEE] [tid: 14] [ecid: 0000JMk1k3lDkZKcyToYpk1FHuer000005,0] Removed the following node from the element 'view': [[
<saw:selector xmlns:saw="com.siebel.analytics.web/report/v1.1" columnID="c20" prompt="true"><saw:choice type="column" formula=""- Year"."MVSR Doses R12M""><saw:tableHeading><saw:caption><saw:text>Month</saw:text></saw:caption></saw:tableHeading><saw:columnHeading><saw:caption><saw:text>Doses</saw:text></saw:caption></saw:columnHeading></saw:choice><saw:choice type="column" formula=""- Year"."MVSR Doses YTD"-"- Year"."MVSR Doses Prior YTD""><saw:tableHeading><saw:caption><saw:text>Year</saw:text></saw:caption></saw:tableHeading><saw:columnHeading><saw:caption><saw:text>YTD Dose Volume Change</saw:text></saw:caption></saw:columnHeading></saw:choice></saw:selector>
I have checked this error on Oracle support web and it says that this warning is fine as there have been some features in 10G that would not be in the OBI 11G and are not required. I am still not convinced why there should be any warning for this type of issue.
Please let me know if someone has faced these warnings in when doing the upgrade of the 10g RPD and Webcat to 11g together.
Just as note, the services start fine and I could login to the application with users and see the dashboards and reports although I did not check all the dashboards and reports as this is a POC before doing the actual upgrade.
Edited by: user11255710 on Feb 24, 2012 1:44 PMHi
Can you please refer me to the links on oracle web support which explained that these warnings are ok and can be ignored. We are also facing the same issue.
Thanks in advance. -

314 internal SQL statements in session.
1495 SQL statements in session.There is a lot of log file sync waits. There were a lot of INSERTS in the sql but I did not find any commits. For example
INSERT INTO CM_WORKFLOW_AUDIT (AUDIT_TRAIL_ID, CASE_HISTORY_ID,USER_ID,
GROUP_ID,ACTION_ID,DESCRIPTION,DATE_TIME)
VALUES
('080504001809',2154515,19,2,23,'Ticket[2157817] added to Super Ticket',
TO_DATE('04-05-2008 13:14:38','dd-mm-yyyy HH24:MI:SS'))
But there is no commit at the end, there are a lot of INSERTS like this one but no commit at the end of it. So log file sync cant be waiting to flush the buffer into a redolog (well, that is what I think atleast). Can some one please tell me what is causing the log files sync wait? By the way my log_buffer is 12mb.
Regards.....Hi,
The number of commits can be retrieved from v$sysstat and v$sesstat.
There are no commit statements in any trace file,
you need to look at lines starting with XCTEND in the raw trace data.
Also the size of the log_buffer has 0 to do with the log file sync event, and setting big log_buffer is the typical 'more is better' tuning which doesn't help.
You need to investigate the speed of the devices with holding online redolog, do NOT locate online redologs on RAID-5 devices.
Also posting 'Any one ??' when you are not getting response immediately shows you don't seem to understand this is a volunteer forum.

Hello, I am investigating streaming XML into a log file for my system so that I can tag various elements that will allow for efficient reporting on errors, user events, login states etc.....
As yet I have found it very unclear as to whether I can do this. I do not wish to build up a DOM or hold any information in memory as I want it written to the file straight away, also is it possible to read it at the same time as it is being written?
Can anyone give me a bit of guidance or direction to if it is possible to stream xml in this way from a singleton object in my application on the appserver? I am looking at either JDOM or JAXB, is this wise?
Any help would be invaluable...
cheers
Richardakpattuka, having tried your run time parameters with plugin 1.4.2, i can tell you that they do not work here either. I have even tried setting -Djavaplugin.trace.option=ext as suggested by online help (not with numbers). Nothing. What does work for me is the following. While running your applet open the console window. Hit 'o' to enable logging, hit '5' to set the trace level. Hit the refresh button inside your browser. This will create a trace file and a log file.

Excessive disk usage when I drag the log file viewer window (why)?
When I drag the Log File Viewer window in Gnome, I get huge amounts of hard disk usage and the hard drive makes a loud rumbling noise. This happens only while dragging the Log File Viewer window and no other windows (that I've noticed so far).
Why is this happening?

What version of Premiere Elements are you working with and on what computer operating system is it running?
Can we assume by your selected ID, that the program is Premiere Elements 11?
Pending further details, I will assume that you are working with Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
Where is this "My Videos" Folder - on a DVD disc being used as a DataDisc for video storage purposes?
If so, Add Media/DVD Camera or Computer Drive/Video Importer and from there automatically into the project in Project Assets as well as on the Timeline.
If your "My Videos" Folder is a folder on the computer hard drive, then Add Media/Files and Folders to get the video into Project Assets from where you drag the video to the Timeline.
Now for the video that you are trying to import...what are its properties
Video Compression
Audio Compression
Frame Size
Frame Rate
Interlaced or Progressive
File Extension
Pixel Aspect Ratio
Probably answered the easiest by knowing the brand/model/settings of the camera that recorded the video.
Prime interest, that video compression. It could be MotionJPEG which can be problematic for Premiere Elements. It could be AVCHD.avi which cannot be imported.
We can go into greater detail on your project details once we rule in or out any of the factors mentioned above.
By the way, what is the destination for this project....burn to disc DVD or Blu-ray...export to file saved to the computer hard drive...other?
More later.
Thanks.

I am attempting to reload Photoshop Elements 8 on a Dell Precision Workstation under Windows 7 64-bit Professional on a new hard drive. Immediately after I confirm English as the language, the following error pops up:
Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file location exists and is writable.
I have attempted installation from the DVD and from a location on the hard drive, with the same result.
If I knew the location the installer is trying to use for the log file I could verify the existence and properties of that location.
Please help.
Thanks,

Hello friends,
I am developing a program which works with 4 different text files.
3 of them for reading and 1 for writing and reading.
Here's a skeleton:
open file1 for reading.
for each element in file1 do
record the element in the log file
open file2 for reading
open file3 for writing
for every element in file2 do
process all elements in file2 for one element of file1
generating an element for file3
write out the processed elements to file3.
end for // here we have file3 ready for the next step
end for
open file3 for reading
open file4 for reading
for each element in file3 do
process result1 and store it in log file
process result2 and store it in log file
for each element in file4 do
process result3 and store it in log file
end for
end forCan anyone suggest me how to use the Logger to log all the results?
Also, How should I open the files to read and write?
I am new to working with files in java and reading about the different I/O streams is driving me nuts at the moment.
Thank you in advance.Thanks Keith for the useful links.
I had to do a bit of reading regarding working with files in java
here is what I have gotten to so far:
try {
// OPEN PERMUTATION FILE FOR READING
FileInputStream pstream = new FileInputStream("permutations.txt"); // THIS FILE IS GENERATED IN PREVIOUS STEP
DataInputStream pin = new DataInputStream(pstream);
BufferedReader pbr = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(pin));
//FileReader permfr = new FileReader("permutations.txt");
//BufferedReader permbr = new BufferedReader(permfr); // WILL THIS WORK INSTEAD OF ABOVE 3 LINES?
//StreamTokenizer permst = new StreamTokenizer(permbr);
// OPEN INPUT FILE FOR READING
FileInputStream istream = new FileInputStream("sample.txt"); // THIS IS THE INPUT FILE OF WORDS
DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(istream);
BufferedReader ibr = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(in));
//FileReader ifr = new FileReader("sample.txt");
//BufferedReader ibr = new BufferedReader(ifr); // WILL THIS WORK INSTEAD OF ABOVE 3 LINES?
//StreamTokenizer ist = new StreamTokenizer(ibr);
// CREATE A TEMP FILE FOR OUTPUT
// Creating a temp file because I will be using it for one permutation only
// instead of writing to a file and clearing it again for the next permutation.
File tempoutput = File.createTempFile("output",".txt");
String permstr; // PERMUTATION string
String ipstr; // INPUT string
String opstr; // OUTPUT string
// create input char array, perm array and output char array
char[] permArray;
char[] opArray = null;
char[] ipArray;
while ((permstr = pbr.readLine()) != null) { // for all strings in permutation file do
// read one permutation string
StringTokenizer permst = new StringTokenizer(permstr);
while(permst.hasMoreTokens()){ // TILL the end of permutation file
// convert the permutation string to char array and store it
String perm = permst.nextToken();
permArray = perm.toCharArray();
// open the output file for writing
BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(tempoutput, true));
// open the input file (original dictionary) for reading
while ((ipstr = ibr.readLine()) != null) { // for all the words in the input file (dictionary)
// read one input string
StringTokenizer ipst = new StringTokenizer(ipstr);
while (ipst.hasMoreTokens()){
// convert it into a char array and store it in 'input' char array
String ip = ipst.nextToken();
ipArray = ip.toCharArray();
// for each element in the permute array
for(int i=0; i<=perm.length()-1; i++) {
// read the permute array elements, index i
// store it in input index j
int j = permArray;
// generate output as you go as output[i] = input[j]
opArray[i] = ipArray[j];
// convert output char array to string
opstr = String.valueOf(opArray);
// write the permuted output string to the output file
out.write("\n"+opstr);
out.flush();
out.close();
// OPEN OUTPUT FILE FOR READING
// RUN SOME PROGRAMS AND GENERATE SOME NUMBERS
newop.close();
STORE THE RESULTS (PREFERABLY IN A LOG FILE)
I AM STILL WORKING ON HOW TO DO THIS
tempoutput.delete(); // delete the temp input file
} // end reading permutation file
// CLOSE ALL STREAMS Below
pstream.close();
pin.close();
pbr.close();
istream.close();
in.close();
ibr.close();
catch (IOException e){
System.err.println("Error: " + e.getMessage());
I am currently debugging this piece of code.
Can anyone point out any flaws/design errors here?
Any suggestions to make it better/efficient?
Greatly appreciated as always.
