PS Elements Crop function is defective!

HI all,
When I crop a photo in PSE 13, the saved version has a black bar at the bottom (or side) of the photo. It looks terrible! Why is this black bar being saved as part of the photo? Is it just something I'm not doing right? I only bought it today, but the cropping was very self explanatory..
Ant advice would be appreciated

Hi,
Are you cropping in the organizer or in the editor?
If you are cropping in the editor, are you using crop pre-selection?
Are you moving the crop outside of the image?
As there more than one way to crop, it might help if you describe what you are doing. A screen shot of your image just before you commit the crop might help.

I use the SCC mediaserver in my work, and the crop function has stopped working on Firefox, although it works on Internet Explorer, and I'm wondering if a recent upgrade caused that problem.

I am a newspaper copy editor and use Firefox to work from home. I use the SCC mediaserver to crop photos and place them in the JazBox system, which includes Adobe InCopy and InDesign. For some reason, the crop function is not working on the SCC when I go on it in Firefox, although it's working in Internet Explorer, which is much slower. I didn't have this problem until I installed a Firefox update today. What can I do?

4x6 crop function is cropping on the sides.

Why does the 4x6 crop function crop the sides as well as the top /bottom on a horizontal frame. Only the top and bottom need to be cropped to get a 4:3 digital image into a 4x6 space. How do I easily do this with many photos and not loose parts of the frame? I used to do it in Photoshop but forgot when I moved to a camera with a larger Megapixel photo file.

Looking in '11 it works just fine - and I believe that it the same in '09
You talk about only the top and bottom needing to be cropped - to crop a 3:4 photo to 4:6 you crop the sides - not necessarily the top and bottom - A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

JAI crop function

Hello All,
I am using JAI crop function with starting pixels, width and height. But starting pixels is not working. It is cropping the image always begginning from left side (0,0) to the given (width,height). You can find my code below. I am waiting for your responses.

I don't think the crop function would arbitrarily ignore your (x,y). Are you sure your x and y are not 0? Prove to yourself that they're not by adding some System.out calls just before they get added to the parameter block.
Also, I'm not familiar with the function getParameterBlockForImage(image)?

Crop function - outline problem

Hi!
When using the "crop" function in Final Cut PRO 5.x (under the motion tab)
I get an outline on the cropped video...why does that happen? It occurs on every clip. Ideas? Im editing regular dv footage.

I can't see any outline on any of your screenshots. Can you see the outline on the screenshots when viewing them on your 24-inch iMac? Could you please try once more to describe where the outline is? Is it supposed to be at the edge of the white on the big cropped image? I can't see any outline there on my MacBook Pro 17-inch screen or 20-inch Cinema Display.
Do you have the same Color Profile in System Preferences on both iMac's?

Elements 13 not using prefernces in Guided crop function

Hi,
have the new Elements 13 installed. Even after putting the units in Preferences to cm, the Crop Feature is using Inch print sizes. Cannot be changed anywhere...
Any suggestions?

Are you talking about the units when you type or the list of paper sizes? If the paper sizes, I think that is dependent on the country you choose when you first start PSE, but you should still be able to type in something like 100cm or 450 cm in the size boxes and have that respected.

Elements 10 function

can elements 10 do perspective function of crop or can it be upgraded to do this function like c3 etc?

It can do "something close" -- you move the sliders for vertical and horizontal perspective independently to bring the image into alignment with a supplied rectangular reference grid.
I use a free plugin that works more like what you describe -- place the 4 corners of a reference rectangle on the points of the image that should be a rectangle.

A text symbol is a named data object that is generated when you start the program from the texts in the text pool of the ABAP program. It always has the data type c. Its field length is that of the text in the text pool.
Text symbols, along with the program title, list headings, and selection texts, belong to the text elements of a program. Text elements allow you to create language-independent programs. Any text that the program sends to the screen can be stored as a text element in a text pool. Different text pools can be created for different languages. When a text element is changed or translated, there is no need to change the actual program code. Text elements in an ABAP program are stored in the ABAP Editor (see Text Element Maintenance).
In the text pool, each text symbol is identified by a three-character ID. Text symbols have a content, an occupied length, and a maximum length.

Problems with new crop functions and old crop actions

I discovered that my actions imported from CS4, which contain preset dimensions for the crop window, do not function as written UNLESS the crop tool is activated before running the action. These actions are designed to open the crop window at a specific dimension, then stop, allowing me to move the crop window to the desired postion, then continue with the cropping and, finally, interpolation back to original image dimensions. However, in CS6, if you run these actions with any tool enabled OTHER THAN THE CROP TOOL, the crop window appears at the perimeter of the image. With the crop tool enabled, the actions function as written. Hopefully you can fix this before the final release.
I'm running Win 7 Pro on 64 bit machine, and the above problem occurred running the 32 bit CS6.

Patti,
Here's a screen capture of the crop action. The action is designed to stop at the first step, allowing me to drag the crop box to wherever I want. The box normally appears roughly centered. However, in CS6, this only works if the crop tool is pre-selected before running the action. If any other tool is active, the crop box expands to the perimeter of the image.

Photoshop Elements stopped functioning properly. I am unable to reinstall 64bit version.

Photoshop Elements was not functioning properly, so I tried to fix but it uninstalled and I am unable to install 64-bit version.

Do you receive a specific error message? Which operating system are you using?

PS Elements Cropping Problem

In PS Elements 10, trying to crop to 16H X 20W. Option of "CUSTOM" now not displayed. Will not let me enter these values.

Click on the little arrow, top left, on the crop tool's option bar, then reset the tool. That may fix it.

Photoshop Elements Editor Function Won't Work

After upgrading to Windows 7, the Editior function on my Photoshop Elements 6 program stopped working. I have tried the following: Run as Administrator. No success. Compatibility Troubleshoot. No success. Reinstalling. No Success. Anyone have any suggestions?

Please try the below solutions-
Solution 1:
1. Close Elements.
2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
4. Try launching directly from the exe of editor and organizer and see if it gets launches-

Photoshop Elements Stacking function not working

I have downloaded and installed Elements 12 and when I opened it I discovered that it would not stack a series of pictures - gave me an error message saying "create stack failed." Also when I tried to crop a pictures, it did not save it to the Catalog. It did save to the hard drvie but did not put it in the Catalog. I am wondering if this copy of the program has a bug in it?

Photoshop Elements 11 - 'Monitor Profile Defective' Message

When opening Editor in Photoshop Elements 11, I get the warning message "The Monitor profile 'Dell S2240L Colour Profile, D65' appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software".
I have recently upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 and also had to download DirectPlay when opening PE 11. Before upgrading, PE11 worked fine for over a year on same desktop and monitor (both only 1 year old). Driver monitor is up to date.
Please can someone tell me the possible cause and my options. I have seen lots of posts on this and other forums but not sure which is the right answer. Could 8.1 upgrade have caused it by changing a setting or is that just coincidence? Would re-install of PE11 make any difference?
Would appreciate help as this is infuriating (also happened on my old desktop with earlier version of PE)!

PSE doesn’t like your monitor profile, for some reason. It would seem that either your monitor profile is defective or PSE11 cannot read the monitor profile, now.
Try changing it to sRGB and see if the message stops:

The instructions are for Windows 7, so instead of what the very first screenshot shows, to search for Color Management, right-click on the Win 8.1 Start button and choose Control Panel, then choose View By: Large Icons and click on Color Management.
