PS Elements for a PS CS User

I use PhotoShop CS extensively at home but installed Elements 4 on my laptop on the notion that the "lighter" version of PS would suit my needs as I travel. But of course I'm finding myself frustrated by not being able to use the techniques I honed on the the "Full" version of PS.
Someone has suggested to me that there are third party add-ons for PS Elements that can provide some of the missing tools and functions. What I find myself missing most are the History Brush and the ability to create layer masks.
The real solution is probably to install PS CS on my laptop, but I thought I'd ask here first.

The masks aren't a problem but the history brush is...

It's too bad you don't have a copy of PS Elements 3 because some of these tools won't work in PS Elements 4. See this thread for what works vs doesn't work in the freeware sets in PS Elements 4:

Need 2 Multiline elements for user decision step

We are on SAP R/3 Enterprise version.
I have this requirement to find agents based on the agent type and work center field. So I created a responsibility rule for each type of agent type. The responsibility rule is keyed on the work center, and HR positions are mapped to each responsibility rules work center field.
We have 50 agent types/responsibility rules, 60 work centers, and 1 or more positions for each agent type and work center combinations. Due to the total number of positions, I prefer to use 1 responsibility rule per agent type for ease of maintenance.
I have a FM that reads the responsibility rule based on the agent type and work center field and retrieve the agent_list. I used this FM/method/step prior to my user decision step and pass the agent_list to the UD step via container.
In my user decision step, the Other tab does not have Multiline element for me to enter my agent_list. So I cannot use &agent_list[&_WF_PARFOREACH_INDEX&]& in my user decision agent assignment expression field.
In my last job, we have SAP ECC 5.0, the UD step has a Misc tab that has Multiline element, but our current SAP R/3 Enterprise version does not have Misc tab, it only has Other tab.
Question:
1. How do I use [&_WF_PARFOREACH_INDEX&] without Multiline element for agent_list in UD step?
2. I have to use the same way to retrieve my LED_agent_list as well, so I need 2 Multiline elements in my UD step. But normally in Other tab, it allows you to define only 1 Multiline element. How do I get around this restriction?
3. My last resort is to use 1 responsibility rule, then I can use the rule in the agent assignment. If that is the case, is there any limit on the number of entries in the rule?

Unfortunately, there's not enough info listed to give you an effective answer.
Can you give more detailed system spec's. There are a lot of differences in RAM, & Hard Drive Technologies. Is your 2TB a single hard drive, or multiple drives in RAID? While a single 2TB drive is nice for the storage capacity, they also sacrifice some performance to reach that capacity... What speed is the RAM, & I'm assuming it's properly opperating in Dual Channel mode (watch your POST screen to be sure). Which Core i7 CPU are you running, & what Operating System are you running. Finally, bring up your task manager, & see what processes are using CPU cycles. Also, are you starting up PrE8 through the default shortcut which uses the Welcome screen?
A quick guess is that Auto Analyzer & the Welcome screen are behind your troubles, but can't be sure till more info is available.
There is a current thread about Auto Analyzer, & I've posted a way to bypass the Welcome screen in several threads.

Adobe Premiere Elements 11 unable to launch - User receives Debug & Runtime Error. The Adobe program launches and the Premiere Elements splash screen displays. Once the "Loading ImportQuicktime.pm" function completes the following errors display:
The program has been re-installed without success. The only way to open the program is to "Run as Different User" windows 7 function, using the local admin account. The Preferences Folders have been deleted and recreated without success. Any information for this error will be great. Thank you for your time.

Container element for Count in Parallel Approval Workflow

Hi Gurus,
We are using ECC 6.0 and I have this below requirement. Please share your thoughts on how we can achieve this.
We are using a User decision step in parallel workflow to generate and send individual work items to multiple approvers. that is, we generate multiple work items and send to individual approvers for the same step in the workflow and get the combined result (Approve or Reject) to proceed further. I understand that individual result for each work item is stored in container element '_RESULT' (0001 for Approve, 0002 for Reject) and combined result of all the sub-work items is stored in '_WI_RESULT' (0001 for Approve, 0002 for Reject). Also, we can see the index # of work items generated for the same step (node) from container element ''_WF_PARFOREACH_INDEX'.
My requirement is to set work item to COMPLETED status after we obtain a certain # of APPROVE (_RESULT = 0001) decision. Let's say, after 2 of the approvers say Ápproved', then I'd like to close all the other relevant work items and set the Combined result '_WI_RESULT'to APPROVE and Complete the relevant work item. I was wondering if there is a container element that holds the (count) # of work items generated in individual work item container so that I can keep reading this value to see how many decisions have been made. That is, for example, If there are 3 parallel work items generated and 1st user said Äpproved', is there a way to know out of a total of 3 approvals (to get the combined result '_WI_RESULT'), one is completed and 2 approval decisions are still pending. I'm trying to use step-level Pgm Exit (After_execution Method) to read this container element for # of approvals done and if the combined result '_WI_RESULT'is '0001'(Approve), i'll try to end other work items. One way of doing is to have a custom table to capture this and keep reading this table after each decision. But, I don't want to have all this customization and I believe there should be a way the SAP is storing somewhere this # of completed or Pending approval work items that got originated from a single step/node. One way of doing could be, after each decision, read the dependent work items (having same node # and Parent Work item etc.,) and get the other relevant work items and read their status etc., But I think this is a lengthy process and may be there is an easier way, perhaps some container element that holds this information.
Please let me know if you need any clarification on my requirement and share your thoughts on how I can achieve easily.

Thank you for your reply. I was actually doing the same with having an APR_COUNT and passing that for each of individual work items and bind it back to task--> wflow container. And keep checking this counter in wf container.
Once, we obtain certain # of approvals, then I guess I'll have to complete or cancel the other work items.
I was thinking may be there is some container element already exists that keep track of this, I guess not .

Hyperion Business Rule Error: Cannot retrieve connected root element for

I am trying to open a business rule in EAS and I am recieving the following error: Cannot retrieve connected root element for Planning/Servername/Application/Database.
I am able to connect to the application via Planning Web, but I am recieving this message when I am trying to open the business rule in eas.
hoping if someone has come across this issue before and has been able to successfully fix it.

I have 2 BRs, one is with RTP and another without RTP (basically a clacscript as BR).
I don't have any issue with the BR without RTP.
When I try to validate BR withRTP, validation is failing with
Unable to run or validate this rule (ConsolidateTestRTP) against the following location: Planning/servername/appname/dbname for user abcd.
Detail:Exception occurred. Please check your log file for details.

With thought of may be the syntax of RTPs in BR changed, deleted RTP in the code but still BR has RTP (I mean BR has RTP and is not used in calculations), still getting error during validation. I can create new BRs and associate to outline.

We are not Adobe here. Rather user to user.
In the threads that I have read here the following is the user to user reply on this matter that is seen regarding project assets....Music Scores in this case....
The Music Score soundtracks are from the Adobe Premiere Elements (12 or 13) Music Score selections within the program.
And, they can be used in the users choice of export. As for "authorship", I guess you would point to Adobe, Premiere Elements version, Music Score.
Would the evaluators settle for the above information?

Site Studio Page Element for a photo/pic

Hi,
I am trying to develope a UCM website using Jdev Site Studio.
I have to create a user profile page. The page should have photo, introduction, interests and contact details.
I have created a region definition with 3 WYSWYG elements for introduction, interests and contact details. But I am not sure
what element to use for photo. An example or some sample code which uses some site studio element for photo will be helpful.

Blank DVD Template in Prem. Elements for Mac

Years ago when I was a Windows user I LOVED using Premiere Elements to import and edit home videos. The editing, chaptering etc was so easy and I I was really happy with the final product. One thing I really liked was when I created the DVD menus etc I had access to a blank DVD template so I could use my own background picture etc. I never cared much for the "themes". Is there a way with the new prem elements for MAC to have a blank DVD template?

As usual and as I remember you to be you are so helpful! What I would like is to have to custom templates. The first would be just a generic background where I could insert my own picture. I don't use video link boxes or anything so I prefer the links to the "menu markers" to be just text. For instance, say I am making a DVD of a theatre performance. I would like a general "play all" button that will play the entire performance. I would also use a "Act 1" button and a "Act 2 button". I do chapter each scene but to avoid having 10 pages of "scenes" I'd prefer the "scenes" to not be accessible from the main menu. Most every DVD from theatre to concerts to home movies I do like this. I only like to have one main menu menu. No submenus. I used to have 1 custom template that did that. The second one would be exactly the same but would offer a "scenes" button in the instance I did want to add a "scene" menu as well. I really, really hope this makes sense.....
And I don't want to come across as crazy, but when I installed the demo on PE9 on my mac, I only have one template called "fun" and I can't change the background image. There is a little dropbox within the menu that I can add a video or pic, but that's only a small hole in the template, the rest of the background I can't change. I'd be happy to take a screen cap if I am not describing it correctly...
Short story long, it sounds like Steve both templates you said are for free on your site will do what I am needing to do. How do I go about downloading them?

Adjusting UI Font Size or Colors for a Legally Blind User

I just purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 13, and am having a bit of an issue seeing some of the things in the UI. I am legally blind, but see well enough for most things. However, the fonts on my installation seem to be quite small, and the light gray background with dark fonts is a bit difficult for me to see. I'm hoping there is a way to adjust these settings, I've looked through the preferences but did not see anything that would let me adjust these types of things. Is there any way to make fonts bigger, or at least change colors of the UI? I'm comfortable with editing hidden settings, or even the registry if I must.

I doubt if it will give an immediate fix to the issue, but you could file an Adobe Feature Request/Bug Report Form asking for the type of user interface control that you seek.

In Premiere Elements 4, 7, and 8.0/8.0.1, there was an Edit Menu/Preferences/User Interface choice which essentially dealt with brightness control for the User Interface.

premiere elements is the entry level version, meant for casual editing or home users... premiere elements can be bought, premiere pro can only be rented via subscription. there is an old version of premiere pro that still available to buy, premiere cs6. you can look at videos on youtube if you want to see the differences between the programs.

Is it possible to display more elements for non-LOV list item w/o Javabean?

Since webform combobox, poplist or tlist does not have the partial search functionality like its countpart in MS ACCESS, thus, our user asks for displaying span screen hight of list element for them to avoid the 'endless' scrolling. If LOV's partial search function can port to combbox list, that will reolve the issue.
But before that, is it possible ? Since I see no property to set that. Thanks.

How can I use iweb 1.1.2 for more than one user account on my macbook?

I wonder if someone can guide me or point me to a previous answer on this, since I haven't found one. I'm simply trying to use iweb 1.1.2 on two user accounts (both labled as administrators) on our macbook. The program functions fine on one account, but when I switch over to another user account on the computer iweb will open, but does not let me start a new page, save, etc.

Welcome to the discussions. If iWeb's menus are greyed out, the following trick has worked for some:
In the user account which does not let you start a new page, save, etc. — Quit iWeb. Start iPhoto. Select a couple of photos, click on the iWeb icon at lower right and choose Photo Page. iWeb will open up and invite you to choose a template for your new Photos page. Choose any template so that the page is created and then delete that newly created page.
...Now perhaps things are no longer greyed out in iWeb.

Hey everyone in Apple world!
I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP! Yessssss!!!
I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process. Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal. No flashing yellow screen anymore!!
