PS saving blank PNG files, display issues

For the past few days, randomly, photoshop is saving PNGs as blank transparent files. A 640 x 1136px file is 60-70kb.
There are also some display issues that look like GPU issues but only happening with PS, no other programs.
New Document looks like this:
Pasted screenshot into the new doc and moved it around:

    Why don't .png files display in Safari for iPhone, iPad?

    James,
    Thanks for your response.  The image was on a site I maintain.  I have already replaced the image with a jpg, which works fine.  I believe I can duplicate the problem, if you think it is worth it.  Gimme a few...
    http://www.oaksbible.org/Contents/about2.html is the page with the png I restored to use.
    http://www.oaksbible.org/Contents/about.html is the page with the replacement jpg
    Just checked.  The png still does not display on iPhone(5) or iPad(3).  The image was also made by me in pixelmator and both (png and jpg) were exprted from pixelmator.
    thanks again,
    Tim

  • Pshop CC -- saving JPG & PNG file size bloat

    Saving JPGs & PNGs from Photoshop CC is creating what I can only describe as a obscene file bloat.  Just recently, what should have been a 7k jpg saved as a 1.1 mb jpg file.  PNGs which should average roughly 100-150k are coming out at 1.3mb.  If I use the "Save for Web", sometimes it gives me the proper sized images.
    I have noticed this on 2 computers --- one a mac & one windows with completely different file sets.  So it is not an issue of my OS, the original files or anything specific to one particular common item.
    FYI -- Doing the same thing with pshop cs6, I get the proper file sizes.
    I have included a sample image here.  This image is a straight out "save" from pshop CC  -- it is 1.1mb.  However, when I saved the same image as a JPG in pshop cs6, it was 7k.
    Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

    Haven't had a PNG or JPG go wacky here in that way so far...
    I think the issue is revealed by looking in File - File Info in the Raw Data section.  I don't know why, but there are a huge number of <rdf:li> XML elements showing up there with hex values in them.  I don't know what that means, exactly, but I believe the accumulation of that metadata explains the size increase.
    Do any of the terms you see in the raw metadata mean anything to you?  Do you have 3rd party plug-ins that could be responsible for this?

  • DMS Original File Display issue

    Hello All,
    This is regarding Original File dispaly issue in DMS. User is using CV04N transaction to download the file. After going in the DMS screen user is selecting the file, Right Click & select the option "Copy to". Then user select the option to save the file on Desktop. If required user change the description of the file & save it on Desktop.
    But when he tries to open that file from the desktop, file is not diaplayed & does not give any error. In some cases file is taking more than 10 mins to open the file.
    This issue is faced by only two users whereas on my laptop file is displayed properly without any issue.
    What could be the reason behind this? Waiting for your valuable reply.
    Thanks

  • Saving same png file gives me image with 10x smaller size

    Hi.
    I would appriciate if someone explained me what I'm doing wrong.
    I have a png image, of 256x128 size. It has 8bits per pixel for color. Now this image's size is 97kB. I open it in photoshop, I save it as different png file, and then... this image is 7kB of size.
    Can someone tell me what's wrong, or what I'm doing wrong?
    Lucas

    Ok guys, thanks a lot for patience. Below is the main cause why I started this topic, but I still can't figure it out. I thought the loss of size is the cause, but you say it's not :/
    I'm not that skilled as you guys, so that's the primary reason why I'm here. I will be really gratefull if someone could give me a hint here, or some small help.
    To cut to the chase, I'm trying to use a program that creates graphics for older games. This program edits particular files, that have different resolutions and different number of bits per pixel. The problem I have however is the transparency and color palette, as I never had dealings with that. The problem is, that someone created before a pictures that are very smooth, and this seems to be the cause of very smart using of transparency levels, for different colors in the palete. However, I have no idea how to achieve the same effect, I tried many things, but still can't figure this out. I will try to ilustrate the problem below.
    Below is a screenshot from this application
    [img]http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/5396/41135434.png[/img]
    On the right is the picture that is the root of my question here. It has to be in the format with palette of collors in amount of 16, although I have no idea where it stores the alpha channel information, as there are 4 bits for color per pixel. Well anyways, you can see on the right top corner the palette. It basicaly has only the shades of gray in this case. I can switch now to the alpha channel mask, and this is what I get:
    [img]http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/4089/69176653.png/img]
    You can see that each of the colors in the palette has different alpha values. Now what I tried is, I exported the image, I opened it with photoshop, saved it, imported it in the program, and guess what I found in the alpha channel mask:
    [img]http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/7104/51957014.png[/img]
    All the information of the alpha channel for each color is gone!
    Here are the examples with more colors(256):
    [img]http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/2108/84834785.png[/img]
    The alpha channel mask
    [img]http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/4944/25526459.png[/img]
    And now, I do the same as before, export it, save it in photoshop, and guess what, all the info is gone again:
    [img]http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/8991/50003321.png[/img]
    Now loosing this information is not a problem, as I will be inputting different pictures, but my question is, how I can achieve the same effect in photoshop for my images that I will try to import. I would love to have as smooth edges as they are seen on those examples above.

  • PNG file displays white instead of clear

    This is strange that png file that has an clear spot (alpha) would not display it in FCP 5.14. It shows white. If I erase portion of the file with an eraser in Photoshop then it will show normal clear part of the file. Here is the file if someone can give me the answer I will appreciate. Thanks,
    Here is the file.
    http://www.glivideo.com/Invitation.png

    you might want to take a look at the clip properties for this PNG in FCP(select it in the browser window and then press cmd-9)
    take a look under the format tab ... you're looking for the alpha info which may be have been interpreted as premultiplied white or some such. try changing it there. i'm, afraid i don't have FCP available to me at the moment or I'd test for you myself, but its probably something like that thats causing your trouble
    hope it helps

  • Saving large PNG files with ImageIO.write

    I have a program that draws onto a DrawPanel (extends JPanel) which is inside of a JInternalFrame. I have used ImageIO.write to successfully save the drawing as a PNG file, but a most unexpected thing happens if the image to be saved is larger than my desktop resolution. For instance, if the DrawPanel/output image is 1200*1200 pixels in size and my desktop resolution is 1024*768, I end up with a PNG file of 1200*1200 pixels that is a tiled image of the first 1024*768 from the upper left corner of the desired image.
    Here is the portion of code responsible for exporting the image:
    JInternalFrame jif = desktop.getSelectedFrame(); //desktop is a JDesktopPane
    DrawPanel dp = jif.getDrawPanel();
    BufferedImage image = new BufferedImage(dp.getWidth(), dp.getHeight(),
    BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
    Graphics2D g2d = image.createGraphics();
    dp.paint(g2d);
    g2d.dispose();
    ImageIO.write(image, "png", targetFile);
    I could very easily prevent the user from saving an image if it is bigger than the desktop resolution, but it is a necessity that large images can be saved.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    I've taken a look at that, on your recommendation, but I get the impression that this will filter the image and throw away information. Is this the case? The image will contain narrow lines and small text, so that woudn't be really be an option. I still want the image to be the full size it should be.
    I had a go at incorporating it into my code, anyway, but I'm not really sure how to. Would I need to capture the image in some way other than with a BufferedImage?

  • Png file displayed on web has very bad resolution

    But on my Mac it is sharp. It was a pdf in Acrobat "Saved as..." a png. Very frustrating problem begs for solution. Thanks in advance.

    You've identified that Acrobat's export of the image to PNG was spot on ("... on my Mac it is sharp.").
    Some possible sources of the web based image being of "bad resolution" present themselves.
    --| Some web based image hosting services provide uploaders that actually downsample an image.
    This is to reduce the image file's size and results in destructive remove of pixels. File size is smaller and resoultion can/does take a hit.
    --| There may be an issue related to the brower used. You could always install and try out other browsers to check this.
    --| You local machine may have a failing graphics card.
    There may be other issues. A web search might turn up some leads.
    Regardless, neither Acrobat nor Adobe Reader are web browsers and neither are "image viewers" for image file formats such as PNG.
    Be well...

  • Pdf file display issues

    My team is experiencing an issue when trying to view a pdf from an HTMLResources.zip file on iOS.
    The pdf will display, but then immediately slide back down and close the v27 iOS app. Any ideas why?
    Thanks
    dw

    Bob,
    Thanks for pointing that out -- iOS5 support is in fact the reason that we've chosen to hold at v27. However, I will burn a v29 test app to see if it clears that problem up for us.
    Thanks again.

  • Ssrs 2008 export to csv file display issue

    In a new SSRS 2008 report, I would like to know if there is a way to automatically expand the width of some of the rows when the data is exported to a CSV file so the data is displayed correctly. Here are examples that I am referring to:
    1. In one column where there is suppose to be a date that looks like 12/11/2014, the value of ########## is displayed. The value of 12/11/2014 is what is setup in the SSRS formatting option.
    2. In a number field that is suppose to look like 6039267049 the value that is displayed is 6E+09.
    Basically if I manually expand the width of the columns that I am referring to above, the data is displayed correctly. Thus can you tell me what I can do so that the data is disaplayed correctly in the CSV file and ther user does not need to manually expand
    the column to see the data?

    Hi wendy,
    After testing the issue in my local environment, I can reproduce it when use Excel to open the csv file. As per my understanding, there is no width when we export the report to csv, Excel is just using the default cell sizes when we open the csv. So when
    a date value is wider than the default cell size, it would be displayed as ##########. When a number value is wider than the default cell size, it would use Scientific format.
    As to the date value, we can use the expression =cstr(Fields!Date.Value) to replace the former one =Fields!Date.Value. In this way, the width of the value is narrower than the default cell size, so that the date value can be displayed correctly. For the
    number value, it already narrow down the width with Scientific format. Or we can Select all the cells in the csv file, then click Format| AutoFit Column Width to change all the cells width to fit its corresponding values in Excel level.
    Besides, we can try to export to excel instead of csv. Excel format can inherit the column width in the report. So in this way, we can directly change the width to fit the values in Reporting Services level.
    Hope this helps.

  • Saved layered .psd files display text in preview column

    Hi,
    I have layered files that I have saved. When I view my files in column format, in the preview area, text appears, not the image. I can't read the text as it is so tiny. Even when I magnified it I couldn't red it. It just seems to happen to files saved as .psd, not to jpegs.
    Has this happened to other people? If you have a solution, other than flattening the file, as I wish to save the layers, please help me. Thank you in advance.

    >When I view my files in column format, in the preview area, text appears, not the image. I can't read the text as it is so tiny.
    Meaning you are previewing in the Finder?
    That is possibly because you have an Alpha channel in the file.
    If you learn to use Bridge CS4, instead of using the Finder, you won't have this problem.

  • Microsoft OneDrive and Canon 70D RAW Files display issue

    Hello Guys,
    I have a Canon 450D and I was really surprised that my RAW files (*.CR2) were displayed on Microsoft OneDrive without making a JPG files.
    That's really cool !
    Few weeks ago I receive my new Canon 70D.
    I have upload my RAW files (*.CR2 also) on OneDrive and the file is not displayed.
    To make it easy, you will find both files here :
    http://1drv.ms/1qvndZW
    I all ready ask support on their forum : Here
    But they ask me to ask you...
    By any chance, has Canon changed their .CR2 files format that would explain Microsoft has to update their "Convertor" ?
    Thanks in advance for your time !
    If you want a OneDrive Space, you can use my referral link or Bing OneDrive ;-)

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Camera RAW is more of a "concept" than a specific standard.   The idea behind a RAW file is that the data unloaded from the chip will not be altered in any way which results in a loss of original data.
    JPEG images use a "lossy" compression algorithm which will normalize data when differences are so subtle that your eye probably would not have noticed the difference.  But when images are adjusted, subtle differences may be "stretched" and the loss of the original data can be detrimental to ability to adjust the image later and still get good results.
    BUT... since every camera can have a difference sensor, different resolutions, etc. the method needed to decode a RAW file and display the image can be different literally on a model-by-model basis.  When you work with RAW files, you always need the codec specific to that very camera model.... not just "any" .CR2 codec will work.  This is the same with all other brands of cameras as well.
    Microsoft does not include camera RAW updates in the default OS updates that you may be applying to your computer on a regular basis (Apple does... every couple of months I get a camera RAW update and if I read the notes, it'll have a list of new camera models on the market for which they've added RAW support.)    But Microsoft DOES make the RAW updates available... they're just not automatic.  You have to go download and install them.
    See this link at the Microsoft support website:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2899189
    If you look down the page on that specific link, you'll notice a whole list of cameras for which they've added RAW support and the Canon 70D is among them.

  • Blank PDF files

    Anyone know why Safari is saving blank PDF files? It used to work fine. I have OS 10.6.8

    Back up all data.
    Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
    from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
    From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
    The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
    If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
    If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Png file locked

    I've created, edited (multiple times) and saved a png file in
    Fireworks MX 2004. When I tried to open the file again to do some
    editing, it seems to be locked. I've edited this file many, many
    times before. Could I have accidentally hit or activated something
    that has made the file uneditable? Has anyone else had this
    problem?

    Check System Preferferences > Accounts > Login Items
    And HD > Library > StartupItems
    And try Spotlight. Click the magnifying glass icon top right corner of your screen.
    Type the name of the file in the Spotlight search field.
