PS screen brightness is stuck on max

Help Help Help.
When i was working in PS CS3, i pressed the 'b' shortcut for the brush tool. Instead of giving me the brush tool, it made the screen slightly brighter. Thinking it was strange, i pressed it alot and the screen is now around 50% brighter/blown out. Which is not good when preparing images for print!
When photoshop is open, all of my windows, whether it's firefox, or the desk top, are bright as well. As soon as i close PS, it goes away. I've reinstalled Photoshop with no luck, and the brightness factor isn't effecting any of my other CS3 programs.
I've got work that needs to be done by tomorrow! HELP!!!!
Thanks.

The urgent aspect could be dealt with by avoiding the "B" shortcut!
It looks as if a monitor control program is reacting althogh I can't think why it should only be with PS open. Have a look at
Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts... in PS and check out any other things like video card software or keyboard mapping.

    Hi @Jeanred ,
    Thank you for your query, I am happy to help!
    I grasp that you are running Windows 7 SP 1 and you are unable to adjust the brightness on your display.
    Has there been any recent changes to your system?
    Here is a link to Troubleshooting display brightness (Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista) to help you overcome this difficulty.

  • Cant change win 8.1 screen brightness level

    Hi I just upgraded to Win 8.1 from windows 8 pro adn my screen brightness is stuck at the absolte highest.I can only use my pc for a very short while before my eyes start to strain . Any Ideas?
    I use a HP envy 14 1195ea Beatsedition.

    The driver to control your brightness on Windows 8.1 does not exist yet, as the previous link demonstrates. For now, the only solution I can offer is to do a System Restore, which will eliminate 8.1, and leave you with functional drivers. You can always re-update 8.1 at any time. Here is information on how to do a System Restore: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows7/products/features/system-restore

    You didn't mention whether you had tried the boot parameters:

    It seems that brightness control is not properly available under linux for some Intel mobile processors (I have just had this on an i3).
    On this i3 the boot parameters at least enabled adjustment via the function keys (though at every restart and after every blanking it's back at full brightness).
    I tried every combination of those when using acpi_backlight=vendor it doesn't detect brightness devices, acpi_osi=Linux doesn't do anything,
    So you think it's a problem with graphics drivers, should I report a bug there?

  • Ideapad S415 Touch: Screen Brightness Stuck!!

    Two days ago, my laptop suddenly got stuck on the lowest brightness setting. I did some research and found that I was supposed to update the driver, so I did and now the brightness is stuck on the HIGHEST brightness setting! When I try to adjust it, the little meter will move up and down just one level, from the second lowest to the lowest. Help!

  • Does setting the screen brightness to the MAX shorten the life of the LCD?

    On daytime I set it to about 80%. That's bright enough.
    Also, another thing I noticed was I tried to cover the speakers with my hands. The keyboard lit up a little bit but the screen dimmed down. Is it normal?

    While setting the brightness to maximum doesn't shorten the LCD's actual lifespan it does however, I believe, speed up the degradation on how bright your screen will be.
    As for when you cover the speakers… yes, this is normal. What's happening is that the ambient light sensors (which are under the grilles, are picking up a reduction is ambient light and in doing so is setting the screen brightness down and activating the backlit keyboard.

  • Completely unsolvable: Cannot change screen brightness after I upgraded my ThinkPad's display.

    I have a ThinkPad X240 which came with a 1366x768 TN panel, I hated it and so after a while I upgraded it to an IPS 1080p display. It works great and looks fantastic except it's stuck on max brightness inside of Windows 8.1. I cannot change the brightness inside of Intel HD graphics settings or inside of programs like Display Tuner. It doesn't work in Windows 10 either. The weird thing is, I can change the brightness just fine inside of Ubuntu. I've tried uninstalling the Intel HD drivers and reinstalling them, I've tried switching the drivers to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, and none has worked. I feel like I've installed every single version of Intel's Graphics Drivers and that I've done everything and it still won't change the bloody brightness. NOTHING has worked except to just use Ubuntu, which is not an adequate solution. I've even gone as far as to update my BIOS and reset it to defaults, I've even pulled the CMOS battery. I've tried the version of the Intel HD driver from Lenovo for the X240 and I've installed the monitor.ini files. I've also just learned that during the Windows Boot Logo, the FN keys WILL change the brightness, but as soon as Windows is done booting, it stops working. This, coupled with the fact that brightness control works in Ubuntu means that this must be something related to Windows right? Brightness control works in BIOS. I've even gone so far as to try and change the brightness through CMD using powercfg according to this post. http://superuser.com/questions/472081/can-i-force-a-greater-screen-brightness-from-windows-command-prompt I'm really starting to lose patience now as it has been like this for 3 weeks and I can't be using Ubuntu all of the time, I honestly do not know what to do, it seems like this problem is completely unsolvable. Edit: I even got so frustrated that I switched off the laptop, installed the old screen, booted up Windows, and the brightness worked. Then (I know this is a bad idea) WHILE IT WAS ON, I pulled the old display and put connected the new one. And lo and behold, the brightness **bleep**ING worked in windows on the new display.

    try change drivers

  • IBooks' Screen Brightness Setting Not Isolated from iPad's?

    Hello all,
    Am using iBooks app on my iPad 2.
    I set my iPad's Brightness to the max/full and turn on 'Auto Brightness'.
    When I go into iBooks and click on an ebook, the screen brightness is the same glaring bright.
    Click on the 'sun' icon (Brightness settings) the knob is actually skew towards the way left, but once I touch the 'knob' the whole screen will turn dark, I presume this is the actual brightness inside iBooks.  I will have to slide the knob more than half-way mark a bit, to get my desire brightness (I do not set to max brightness)
    But when I return to Homepage or other apps after I am done with iBooks, the brightness level stays the same... - not the max setting I originally set for my iPad.
    The only time it will revert back to max brightness, is when I put the iPad to sleep and log back in.
    But once I go into iBooks, the whole "cycle" starts again.
    Thanks and cheers

  • Unable to adjust screen brightness

    i can see the logo on screen when i press f2 and f3 but the brightness do not changes .. all the other functions work like radio switch , audio adjust etc..
    i have hp 1000-1b10au

    Hi:
    If you reinstalled or installed a different operating system you need to install the correct graphics driver in order to adjust the screen brightness.
    Without the graphics driver the brightness will be stuck on maximum, amongst other problems.

  • Lumia 735 screen brightness issue

    My new Lumia 735 has an issue with the screen brightness dimming for no reason. For completeness I have done a reset, it is nor on auto, and does I when on mains or battery. The screen is supposed to be extremely bright when set to max. However it is for about 10 secs then dims then goes bright again then dims for ages then suddenly goes bright. I have been Through all settings and changed/tried all things to no avail. I think this is not a unique problem and is prob software linked. Anyone got any ideas?

    Although you say you've set the screen so the brightness is NOT set to 'auto', this sure sounds like the light sensor is still active.
    I would first try a power cycle to see if that clears things up (which I doubt, but no harm trying, right?).  Then do a back up and try a hard reset.
    After the hard reset, test to see if the brightness is working properly.  If not, then it may be malfunctioning light sensor and require repair/replacement.  If it's working properly, then slowly start adding apps one by one and testing again, to see if one of them is causing the problem.

  • Dead Pixel , or uneven screen brightness test

    Hello
    I will get my new Imac monday.
    Could you please tell me how can I check the screen for dead pixels or uneven screen brightness issues?
    Thank you fpor your help
    Please when you explain, take in consideration that I never used a mac before,
    I am a switcher
    Many thx

    Normally you will see any stuck (colored) or dead (black) pixels right from the get go. Many times stuck pixels will unstick over time or by running pixel fixers.
    example: http://www.jscreenfix.com/basic.php
    In the unlikely event that you have any dead pixels, contact Apple, your local Apple Store or Apple Service Provider there really good about making things right.
    All computer displays will exhibit some sort of unevenness and or back light leakage, but most folks don't notice or worry about it. Unevenness can be seen using a solid light gray or light blue back ground and backlight leakage can be checked using a black screen.

  • Screen Brightness won't change no matter what I do

    Hello guys:
    For the time I've been using ArchLinux my screen brightness buttons don't work.  Also power options for adjusting screen brightness do nothing, so you see why I have a problem, my screen eats the laptop's battery... I've also tried adjusting the values of /proc/acpi/video/GFX0/DD02/brightness, but saw no effect.  I'm using an Acer Aspire 5740-5513, which has an intel core i3 using Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD

    Hey guys, the following script I wrote might be useful for increasing/decreasing and/or setting brightness to min/max using 'xbacklight' so you can bind it to some of your key combination. For example i have FN+f2 set to '/path/to/script down' to decrease '/path/to/script up' to increase etc ...
    Respect
    #!/bin/bash
    if [ $# -ne 1 ]
    then
    exit 1
    elif [ $1 == "down" ]
    then
    xbacklight - 10
    elif [ $1 == "up" ]
    then
    xbacklight + 10
    elif [ $1 == "max" ]
    then
    xbacklight = 100
    elif [ $1 == "min" ]
    then
    xbacklight = 10

  • Screen brightness control

    i reinstalled win 7 pro from factory disks.  no bangs. but i can't adjust screen brightness.
    probook 4540s

    If you need the hotkey driver for the Probook 4540s, windows 7, here it is...
    http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=5229456&swItemId=ob_127051_1&swEnvOid=405...
    If the brightness is stuck on maximum, you probably also need to install the applicable graphics driver.
    If that isn't the problem, unfortunately, I won't be able to help.

  • Screen brightness adjustment broken

    Since the latest updates to the kernel/udev/kmod, I can no longer control my screen brightness via KDE. This used to work perfectly. Neither the Fn-F6/F7 key combination, nor the "Screen Brightness" slider on the KDE power management tool changes the brightness.
    Is this a known issue? If so, is there a workaround...?
    I use a Toshiba A500 laptop. Like I mentioned, this worked last week, before I ran pacman -Syu :-(
    The real problem is that it seems stuck at the highest brightness - this is draining my battery within 20 minutes.
    Is there another way to adjust the screen brightness?

    what is your gfx card,  don't know this model.
    For NVIDIA I had to add the following to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/15-nvidia.conf
    Option "RegistryDwords" "EnableBrightnessControl=1"
    So now it reads:
    Section "Device"
