Ps touch tools

were do you find out about the tools in ps touch and what they do. there must de some kind of flowchart. or better yet directions.
thx
craig

Other than first-time callouts when using PS Touch and the included tutorials, there isn't too much (unless you include the tips with Russell Brown posted here at Adobe). Best thing I can suggest is to take it slow and play with each tool and its options on a test image. If you are already familiar with Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, you have a head start.

  • Magic trackpad, Intuos4, Better touch tools and Photoshop issues

I am using a new magic trackpad with an Intuos4 (most recent update) with Photoshop CS2. I used BTT (better touch tools) to designate upper left click for brush, and lower right click for eraser. Works great (little lag from trackpad) on my 2006 macbook.
But after several swithces between brush and eraser, my Intuos4 pen stops drawing or erasing. The cursor still moves around, but I can't draw or erase. Is thre something I can do about this?
I love using the trackpad with my left hand because I don't have to look down from the screen, and can keep my right hand drawing. Really effecient when it works. I checked the wacom forum and they said try moving the two pads farther apart.
Any insight? I plan on updating computer and software. Maybe this is not a problem with a new iMac and Lion?
    Thanks!!!

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
The brute-force approach would be to reinstall the last version of Mac OS X.
Another approach, although not necessarily for the faint at heart, is to look in /Library/Receipts/boms ("bill of materials", presumably) for a file named after the update, then look in it for the list of files updated as part of the update. I don't know if there's a user-oriented application that knows how to look into a "bom" file, but I was able to see that information with a "strings" command in a Terminal session.
One last approach might be to look in /System/Library/Extensions for a "kext" file with a name and/or date that suggests that it was updated as part of the trackpad update.
Once new and/or updated files have been identified, you could move them out of the directory where they are found. If a file has been updated, it might be important to replace it with the older version of the file, otherwise something important could be disabled.

    Hi there
For Photoshop Touch, there are several resources I would recommend that will help you learn and master the product:
The Photoshop Touch forum is monitored by Adobe staff and community members who have expert-level knowledge of the application: http://forums.adobe.com/community/creative_cloud_touch_apps/adobe_photoshop_touch
The official Photoshop YouTube channel has a whole playlist of videos on Photoshop Touch: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLC26A593C30C41ACB&feature=plcp
AdobeTV has a large series of videos specifically for learning Photoshop Touch: http://tv.adobe.com/show/learn-photoshop-touch/
Here is a helpful video that gives you a tour of the Photoshop interface and tools:
Within the Photoshop Touch appitself, there are several built-in tutorials that will walk you through the process of using the application to complete projects:

  • Touch up tool

    Hi there,
there is a problem I come across quite often with the Touch up tool in adobe acrobat 8 professional which is remove/add characters from a document. Specifically this time I am trying to remove a dot from a bullet list which partially disappear after tagging the document. There's only one dot left and I tried to use the touch up tool to remove. The touch tool loads fine but when I try to use it it comes up with
a message saying: "All or part of the selection has no available system font. You cannot add or delete text using the currently selected font." I attached the message and the document I am trying to modify (on the top right there's a red box with a list containing: indoor rowing, dance, aerobics, kurling - which has a white dot which I want to remove). Can anybody tell me why that happens and if there is a workaround?
    Thanks

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    Ant_rich wrote:

I have encountered the same problem, a simple workaround is to highlight the text (in touchup mode), right click and hit Properties. The properties screen will allow you to change the font to one that you have.(See screenshot attached) Once you do this, you can then delete the text. But note that you can't change the font back (as you don't have it).
If you need to add or edit moret ext you may need to this to the whole document, otherwise you'll have different fonts in the pdf.
    Hope that helps.

  • Can I re-convert dng files to psd files (or another format that can be used in Adobe Touch)?

I am using LR 4.1, CS6, on a PC running Windows 7.  Creative Cloud will accept dng's, but Adobe Touch will not.  I'd hate to have to re-save lots of photos one at a time.  (I'm not generally all that happy with dng format--it makes some files unreadable elsewhere, and any work done on a dng results in its being saved as a psd anyway.)
    Thanks for any ideas.
    Gail

    1. Proprietary formats such as NEF and CR2 are secret.
    2. The universal DNG is an open format.
By all means stick to the raw files produced by your camera if you intend to do your editing in the software provided by your camera manufacturer. If you do all your editing in Adobe software DNG, imho is a better workflow choice.
For archiving purposes I would sooner trust Adobe for future support on DNG than individual camera makers who are known to change their raw formats. Also the benefit of embedded data and no sidecar files, plus fast load data (introduced for DNG’s in Lightroom 4) are clear advantages
If you want to use a tablet with Photoshop Touch tools such as layers, selection tools, adjustments, and filters then a PSD exported from DNG in light room will almost certainly produce an optimum sized file. Tiff will also support layers but the file size will usually be much bigger.

  • Why can't I scroll / Multi-touch with my new Magic Mouse?

I just got my first magic mouse and paired it with my 2008 model white macbook. It works as a mouse, but none of the multi-touch functionality is working. Here's the details
    - I updated to lion recently, and i want to take advantage of the gesture technology. but my macbook is *PRE MULTI-TOUCH* so the track pad does none of those cool tricks.  I thought that using the magic mouse I could use all those nifty features....
    - I read on another forum that people were having trouble with USB OverdriveX, which I've used for a while.  I removed the software with AppCleaner, which is supposed to clean out the plists and everything, and I restarted, but nothing's changed.
    - I downloaded MagicPrefs, and although it shows me the magic mouse details screen, messing with the settings doesn't change anything, i still can't even scroll. Also i set the menu icon to show me the remaining battery life of my device, and instead of that it is grayed out. Does this mean it doesn't recognize my mouse?
    - Finally, and this is what's most frustrating me: Everywhere I look I see the magic mouse preferance pane and it looks NOTHING like mine.  I don't have a 'magic mouse' preference pane in my system preferences, and when i click on 'mouse' all i get is this:
I haven't come across anyone else with this problem, and I get the feeling that this might once again be a failure of my aging machine.  But every other element of mac software is running, and the mouse recognizes movement, left click, and right click.  Any advice would be helpful, thanks!

I can't be sure it hasn't gotten mucked up with all those other steps you took, but here's what I know.
The Magic Mouse has some gestures, yes, but not all those found in a multi-touch trackpad. You can get a Magic Trackpad for that if you really want it all to work just the same.
However, to fix your issue, try uninstalling third-party mouse drivers (such as Logitech or Microsoft), USB Overdrive, BetterTouchTool, Jitouch, and/or drivers for other input-managing devices. Not getting the Magic Mouse preferences is usually the result of some third-party driver getting in the way. AppCleaner is a good way to do this, but you might want to search google for instructions specific to whatever drivers you may have installed and now want to remove.
Once you think you've got them all cleaned out, open bluetooth preferences and remove your Magic Mouse. Now re-add it and see if you get the Magic Mouse preferences screens that you've been seeing online.
    Hopefully this has fixed it.
If so, I will add that I have greatly expanded my Magic Mouse capabilities with Better Touch Tool and never had the kinds of issues you're having now. If you do get the Magic Mouse set up correctly, do not fear to install Better Touch Tool after the fact. I know from experience it will not cause such havoc!

  • Hp photosmart 7510

After scanning from my Photosmart 7510 to my iPad via the HP AiO Remote app for months, I suddenly cannot scan. The printer sounds like it is scanning and "Processing..." shows on my iPad and control panel but the scan never completes. The print function works. The Wireless Network Test Results says everything is fine. I've tried unplugging everything to clean out old commands. Upon reconnection, it still won't scan.

    Hi Olvera,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that you are no longer able to scan using HP’s AiO app on your iPad from your Photosmart 7510 printer.
To better assist you, would you please provide some further information:
Is the printer plugged directly into a wall outlet? If not, please plug the printer directly into a wall outlet and try to scan again.
Are you able to make a copy from the front panel of the printer?
Are you able to print a status report from the front panel (steps are listed)?
On the printer control panel, touch (►), touch Setup, and then touch Tools.
Touch Printer Status Report, and choose OK.
During your trouble shooting have you uninstalled and reinstalled the HP AiO app? If not, please uninstall the app and then reinstall the app.  You will need to request a new activation code for the app.
    Thank you.

  • How do I fix my HP PSC 410 LCD screen which is full bright???

How do I fix my full bright HP PSC 410 Screen

    Hey @bgeary35,
Welcome to the HP Support Forum. I hope you enjoy your experience here.
I understand that you're looking to adjust the brightness on your HP Photosmart Premium Fax e-All-in-One Printer - C410a.  I would like to assist you with this.
From interfacing directly with the printer, its menu and HP's internal Front Panel Guide documentation, I can confidently assert that there is no setting available to directly adjust the brightness of your printer's display.
Having said that, I do have one recommendation that may help.  Complete the following steps to restore your printer's factory defaults*:
*Note  that this will reset all custom printer settings including wireless network configurations.
From the printer's front panel, touch setup/wrench icon
    Touch Tools
    Touch Restore Factory Defaults
If you're finding the brightness on your display hasn't changed and it's impeding the functionality of your printer, I recommend you call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • Upgraded to Lion & can no longer finger swipe for/backwards between pages. Is there a fix for this?

Title says it all. I just upgraded to Mac OS X Lion, and can no longer use a finger swipe, whether one or 2 fingered, to move backwards an forwards between pages. I can still do so in Safari, but not in Firefox 5.01, my preferred browser, any longer. Doesn't matter if I try using one, two or more fingers
Is there a fix for this? Thank you.

If you download this program http://blog.boastr.net/?page_id=1722 (better touch tool), you can make your own swipe gestures.
However, I have been able to three-finger swipe forward and back on webpages by going to ''system preferences'' > ''trackpad settings'' > ''more gestures''
and checking the box at ''"swipe between pages"'' and selecting ''swipe left/right with 3 fingers''

  • How can I repeat a handwriting effect?

    Hi there,
So I'm new to flash and I've switched over because my powerpoint animations were becoming too complex and the video output I was trying to upload to YouTube just didn't look as good as I'd hoped.
I really liked the ability to quickly "wipe" in an object from the left so that it looked like I was drawing it. I'm basically making a presentation that has lots of arrows and lots of things getting crossed out as I build and solve some math problems. I'm wondering if there's an easier way than stepping through 4 or 5 key frames and erasing a chunk of the line and then reversing the whole sequence? This method would take forever for what I'm wanting to do, so I'm hoping there's a quick way for me to accomplish this?
Here's a video of what I'm talking about:

    Hey,
Since the new HTML5 Canvas tools do not support masks you may need to get creative with different gradient PNG files and layering. For example, you put you text on a layer, then on the layer above it you position a box with a gradient that starts at 0% opacity and moves to match the background color, then animate a move from left to right sliding the gradient off the text to "reveal" it. This works well enough on a solid background but becomes un-useable when you use it on an image or gradient background.
If you are working in AS3 versus the HTML5 canvas you can apply a mask to the text layer that reveals on a timeline, check out the tutorials on masking.
If you want some serious text animation tools that will really knock your socks off check out AfterEffects. The text tools there are really powerful and can be outputted as small video files that you can then add to the AS3 version of the timeline. I am just getting into the HTML5 canvas version in Flash and thus far I have not found a way to use video files within the animations. I have that question in the Forum too.
If you want the project to be viewable on the iOS operating system (iPad/iPhone) then you are limited to using the new HTML5 canvas and therefore the masking and video limitations are in effect. I guess since this tool is so new they were not able to get all the functionality into the new platform.
If all you are looking to do is create Slideshows that you play from your laptop and/or videos that are posted on YouTube then the AS3 tools will make easy work of the text effects you are looking to accomplish, just learn as much as you can about masking and using gradient PNG files. If you have the Creative Cloud and are a little adventurous, check out AfterEffects and the text tools there, they will help you create any text effect you have ever dreamt of.
2 more things you may be interested in:
First, in AfterEffects you have the ability to program a timed reveal of the strokes on handwritten fonts. That means that if you set it up correctly you can automatically set up a handwriting reveal that looks like actual handwriting with pen strokes, again take a look at the tutorials, The function is called animating a stroke and I have seen several in the Adobe tutorial videos over the years.
Secondly, one of the hurdles in using Flash as a slideshow generation tool is how to get the remote in your hand to animate the frames in the show. Unless you are standing at the keyboard hitting the buttons you program in to advance to the next slide you will want a remote to handle this functionality. The bluetooth remote for the Mac and the IR remote for PCs will not do this automatically, you will need to program in that functionality and to do that you need the computer to recognize the remote's button presses as a certain key press so you can trigger the function on that key press. For the Mac I have had success with the Better Touch Tool ap. It allows for assigning the button press on the Mac Remote to do specialized keypresses that I then insert into the AS3 of my slideshow to trigger the next frame or previous frame. I was even able to program the up button to go to the beginning of the presentation and the down button to go to the end.
I hope some of this helps.

  • HP 8610 printing too slowly

Just installed a new HP8610. Wired setup (not wireless). It's plugged into the outlet (not a power bar) plus USB to back of PC (which is Windows 7 Home Premium). Prints ok from notepad but is painfully slow and halting printing from the PC.
Also cannot get the printer to stay set up print in black ONLY.
Is it supposed to print in a jerking (fax-like) manner or smoothly?
Used to have same setup to HP Laserjet 1006 and had no problem with speed and printing was smooth, not jerk-like printing that we are experiencing with the HP 8620.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Hi @waterwise
I appreciate the troubleshooting you have done thus far. I understand the printer is printing slowly and is not printing in a smooth manner.
    i would like you to check to see of you have the newest firmware version. At first and in your title you mention the 8610, but near the end of your post you say 8620, just in case, I will include a link for each of them;
HP Officejet Pro 8620/8625 Firmware Update
HP Officejet Pro 8610/8615 Firmware Update
    Fix/Enhancement
Security changes for SNMP and WJA
Improve control panel work-flow and messaging
Enhance NFC tag spec 1.1 support
    Protection against OpenSSL Heartbleed bug
Although the issue you have described is not listed in the fix/ enhancements, this firmware update could resolve the issue.
    If the issue persists, please perform an alignment as it could help;
Load plain white paper into the tray.
On the printer control panel, swipe the display to scroll to Setup, and then touch the Setup icon (). The Setup menu displays.
Swipe the display to scroll to Tools, and then touch Tools.
    Touch Align Printhead.
After the printer prints the alignment page, touch OK, and then recycle or discard the alignment page.

  • Printer problems with Officejet Pro 8500 A910

    Dear all,
I have been given as a present an Officejet Pro 8500 A910 (serie number CN16LDM020 and product number CM756A). The people whom I have got it from already had some problems with the printer heads. I have accepted the printer, because I want to have it working again. I do encounter some problems however. I hope you kind people on the forum can help me out and get this thing working again. As a side note: I am only interested in using the scanner, printer (only black and white - I do not print in colour) and e-printing (I understand that it is possible to email documents to printer, so that they are printed whilst you are somewhere else).
Upon installation I have conneted the internet to my wi-fi. Upon installation it made some test prints, whereby the black dots were good, but the cyan and other colours were not. When I now turn off the installed printer and switch it on again it takes the printer about 5 - 7 minutes to initialize. On the touch screen of the printer it is said "Checking printer, this might take 5 minutes", "Checking printheads", "Aligning printheads" and alike notifications. After 5 - 7 minutes the printer gives the following notification: " Failure notice. Alignment failed. Refer to device documentation for details." When I then push the question mark on the touch screen the following notidication is given: " Alignment failed. Check printer quality of the current print job. If it is not satisfactory, try aligning the printer to see if that improves the quality. To align the printhead again, touch (home), touch (arrow right), touch Tools, and then touch Align Printhead." When I follow these instructions, the same thing happens. I have tried the option "Clean printheads" under "Tools". The test prints that come out are again good in black and white and not good in colour.
The ink level of the cartridges is very low for Yellow, Magenta and Cyan. For Black the printer gives a question mark. The expiry date of the cartridges is in 2015. The information on the Self Test Diagnostic Page (you get when you print a report from checking the ink cartridges) gives the following status:
    Printhead status
Printhead health: Good (for both Black/Yellow and Magenta/Cyan)
    Serial: 7735960 (Black/Yellow) and 7744345 (Magenta/Cyan)
    End of warranty: mid-2013
Accumulated ink usage (ml): Black 99/Yellow 71, Magenta 57/Cyan 58
    Refilled supply:
Detected in printhead/printer? For all cartidges "yes".
When I try to print a document from Word on my MacBook (which runs on Mac OS X 10.6.8) and the printer is on stand-by, Word recognizes the printer, starts with the print order but then comes with the notifications "Printer offline" and "Cannot find printer" and postpones the print order. Today I reset the printer and the print job that I had before the reset (which was postponed) came out.
Today, I printed a document whilst the printer was not on stand-by (the touch screen was on home menu) and the print was well (it was only black and white). After the print, the printer also made a print report. Again, the colour was bad, but black ink was good. After that print report, the printer started aligning again. After 5 minutes it gave the above-mentioned failure notice (" Failure notice. Alignment failed. Refer to device documentation for details.").
I would assume that the first thing that I should do is get new cartridges. However, since I only print black and white, can't I just buy the Black Ink and disable the other cartridges? Then, I am thinking of not buying HP cartridges (since the warranty term is already over). What cartridges do you reccomend (price-quality)? If  new cartridges are installed (previous owner had same problems with full cartridges) and the problems (with print heads) are not solved, what should I do?
On a second note, I want to use the option of printing online. In other words, give a print order on my Iphone to the printer so that it starts printing at home. How do I set this up? How can I test this?
I would be very obliged with your feedback on the above.
    Kind regards,
    Onno

    Hey Onno,
I see you have several items listed about your Officejet Pro 8500a (A910 series) printer.  The main issue that stands out is the print quality issue.  I would advise starting here with your printer.
From your information I can see that refill or remanufacture cartridges have been used in this printer at some point.  It is possible that the ink from these cartridges have damaged the internal ink system of the printer.  If you have performed all the troubleshooting steps for the print quality issue you are experiencing, then the next step is going to be replacing the printheads of the unit.
    Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues
The 8500a requires all cartridges be available even if you are simply printing in B&W.  If the cartridges are low, then you will have to replace the cartridges as needed.  Typically by the design of this printer, however, print quality issues do not follow ink levels in the cartridges as ink is piped to the internal printheads, thus even with empty cartridges there is some ink remaining in the system.
The printheads for the 8500a can be found at most HP certified retailers if you decide to attempt replacing them as a step towards resolving the issue.  As to the cartridges, I would advise using genuine HP cartridges as HP ink is designed with HP printers in mind.  For information about refilled/remanufactured cartridges please click here.
Hope this helps in getting the print quality issue alleviated,
    Jason

  • Installing an HP Photosmart Premium C310

I am trying to install an HP Photosmart E printer C310 and I can get it to print the test photos and pages, and will print from a diagnostic tool, however i cannot get it to be my default printer (I have no others installed) and I can't print anything from my PC.  I am totally baffled, I am running Windows 7 32-bit and have tried all the compatibility downloads.  I have installed and uninstalled half a dozen times, I have downloaded from the HP site to be sure I had the latest software and still no luck.  My windows diagnostic does not come up with anything.       I am lost and hate this touch screen printer.  Has anyone else run into this problem,  I MUST get a printer on line immediately ... actually thinking of going out and buying some other type.  Have had HP for a long long time though, I hate this new version.  advise .... anyone!

    Hi @tbatt42,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that your HP Photosmart Premium Printer 310 will not print black, and that you cannot install it on your Mac OS X. I am sorry to hear this, but I am happy to look into this for you!
May I ask the version of Mac OS X that you are using? If you do not know the Operating System you are using, please visit this website. Whatsmyos.
In the meantime, let's start with trying to get it to print black first. Please try the solutions within this guide, Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Photosmart Premium e-All....
If you print a status report, do you see any black? To print a status report, please try the following:
Load plain white paper in the input tray.
On the product control panel, touch the Setup icon ().
    Touch Tools.
Touch Printer Status Report. The product prints the report.

  • Unresponsive Keyboard and Trackpad problem AT STARTUP + Sleep problem

When I turn on my computer it boots the OS and everything works except for the trackpad and the keyboard. I wait for about 5-7 minutes and then the trackpad and the keyboard start working.
    Additional problems:
If I try to sleep my computer, the screen turns off, but the computer never stops working, so I have to force it to shut down.
    Temporal Solutions
    1) Boot in safe mode, it solves the trackpad/keyboard problems but not the Sleeping problem
    Attempted fixes
    1) Conencted external keyboard mouse/keyboard. Doesn't work
    2) Reset the battery controller.
    3) Reinstalled 10.6
    4) Installed 10.5
    5) Installed 10.6.3
    Known Stuff:
    1) The trackpad/keyboard are always connected as I can move the mouse and use some gestures with the Better Touch Tool app, and the keyboard works because if I click the Caps Lock key, the small led turns on.
    2) Also, I have the HardwareGrowler app which tells me if hardware gets connected or disconnected and it never tells me anything about the trackpad/keyboard getting disconnected.
    3) The OS is working at startup because apps show stuff and get updated and I can still get growl notifications.
NOTE: This is an intermittent problem, about 1 out of 10 times I turn on the computer I GET the problem.
    Thanks a lot!

I came across a similar issue as the original poster. My trackpad and keyboard are unresponsive for 5 - 7 minutes after startup. I've updated my OS to 10.6.4 twice and it's still happening. I recognized this behavior after the Preferences->Network pane froze while I was trying to remove a VPN setting. Removing /Library/Preferences/SystemConfigurations did not help the problem.
Do any of you have advice on debugging the issue?
