[PS]Transparent edges when resizing/importing a vector
Hi,
when I import a vector object with perfect edges I am getting small 1px wide lines.
(before importing it hadn't those lines inside the graphics, also look at the left side)
After resizing it to a smaller size it getting much, much worse:
I used every interpolation mode and it looks bad.
How can I import the vector AI object and keep it clean?
You have antialiasing because your vector edges are not exactly on pixel boundaries.
And you would always get antialiasing unless you start with no antialiasing and resize with nearest neighbor interpolation (which is most likely going to look horrible).

Why are the movies I took on my iPad long and skinny with black edges when I import them into iMovie
I took several short video clips on my iPad and when I imported them into iMovie they are long and skinny with black on both sides. My other movies from my camcorder fill the frame. How can I convert them to be full frame. They are .mov format from the iPad?
From what you describe, you probably held your iPad vertically rather than horizontaly when you shot your movie.
The picture in iMoive is a rectangle oriented horizontally, so it's showing your vertical movie as large as it can.
If you cropped your vertical picture to fit the horizontal ratio of iMovie you'd have to cut off a lot of the picture.
Soeone even made a mock PSA about this subject.

How to turn off the brush transparency view when resizing the brush on CC?
So, when Adobe introduced the "brush preview" when using the Control+Option drag to change the brush size/hardness (not sure if it's called this way), I was ecstatic! It made my workflow much faster without having to go to the menu to change the brush size or to the bracket keys. Now on CS6 they added a feature that basically broke that for me. Now it not only shows the size/hardness, but it also shows the transparency. It sounds like a great idea, and it is when you work with bigger opacities, but I work a lot with opacities below 10% and it basically becomes invisible, so it's hard to know if I'm using a hard/soft brush when adjusting the brush size. Is there a way to turn just the transparency preview off?
Thanks!OK. Looks like it is me that is confused, but I thought it should have been Cmd plus Option, but Jullieanne Kost mentiones Control Option in this post
http://blogs.adobe.com/jkost/2012/07/changing-the-brush-opacity-in-photoshop-cs6.html
Which points to this old thread where we discussed the feature about 18 months ago
http://forums.adobe.com/message/4288146#4288146
So other than changing the HUD setting in General Preferences, there does not appear to be a really nice solution. Noel points out that it should be doable, and I agree that it would be nice. It is kind of ironic that we have reached a state where even keyboard shortcuts are too clunky to use, but the mouse option is such a nice feature, it would be great to extend its functionality. -
How do I include a drop shadow effect when I import an Illustrator vector into Edge Animate?
How do I include a drop shadow effect when I import an Illustrator vector into Edge Animate? It should be noted that I also have another effect (an extrude & bevel) applied which does copy over when I paste (or create an SVG and import) into Edge Animate. Any thoughts on why the drop shadow disappears but the extrude & bevel carries over?
Which version of Illustrator are you using?
In earlier versions of Illustrator it is not that easy to apply drop shadows with spot colours.
Another reason why it's always important to tell which version of AI … well … -
I'm using my ipad2 with iMovie. When I import photos from my pc and try to use them they are huge. Even when I resize them in photoshop they are still huge and unusable. How do I resize them?
I'm not sure of your question.
Are you asking how to use Photoshop?
Or are you asking for the dimensions of video iMovie uses?
It edits in 720P HD, which is 1280x720.
You can make it a bit bigger so you can zoom in.
Much bigger then this is a waste of time. -
Tiff transparency disappears when imported into InDesign C6
I have a problem With my tiffs - they lose the transparency when I import them into InDesign.
The original tiff can be imported without problems.
To ajust the size of all of the original photos, I used the Image Processor in Photoshop. This seemed to work fine, the transparency is still shown in Photoshop, but now disappears when I import the tiff into InDesign.
I do hope anyone can help me with this problemWhen saving tiff in PS ensure you tick Save Transparency box:

Imported jpeg pictures jagged edges when in motion
When I import jpeg pictures into final cut pro I have a problem with pictures developing jagged pixilated lines throughout the picture when I put them in motion. I thought the image size had something to do with it but I reduced the size in photoshop to no avail. Any advice will be appreciated much.
Sorry to step in. I am about to upgrade to a MacBook Pro 17" and buy the Final Cut Studio 2. What is holding me back is I have experienced a similar problem to this string of comments and I am wondering if someone can help me.
I am trying to make a film for my wife's 40th and have a ton of high res JPEGs as well as a combination of HD video (MPEG4 format from the Sanyo Xacti HD1000) and other formats that I am currently having converted into digital.
Unfortunately the team at the apple shop here have had two problems:
1, when they import the high res JPEGs they look fine until after then rending process when they become pixilated. These are photos from a 10 MegaPixel camera.
2, The HD Video Clip (the MPEG4) format shows up as a green screen on their computer.
It turns out that they are still using the FCP version 6 and noone at the shop (Ultimate Apple Computer on Stanley Street) knows how to use it or fix the above problems.
I'll step up tomorrow and buy a the MacBook Pro 17" if I knew I could do this. Can anyone tell me how to overcome these issues?

Hi, just started on photoshop 13. When i import a photo and open layers, next to the imported photo is an icon indicating the layer is partially locked. When i try to unlock the image, the editing part of the screen disappears and is replaced by a transparency. What am i doing wrong
Good day!
Just to make sure: You are talking about Photoshop 13 aka Photoshop CS6?

Adobe InDesign CS2 - Why does the resolution change when I import a PDF file to InDesgin
When I import a PDF file to InDesgin the resolution from the PDF changes.
Any ideas?InDesign uses a low resolution thumbnail (might be the wrong way to descirbe, but easiest to visualise) to represent images/files placed into indesign. As InDesign is a page layout program it enhances the speed of the application as it doesn't have to draw the images in full detail, but rather just represent them in their size and position in the layout.
There are 3 viewing settings, available through the View> Display Performance (for the whole document) or Object>Display performance (on an object by object basis).
The resolution of the image from that point on relies on whether it was Vector or Raster, or in PDF and EPS cases, vector and raster. As already mentioned Vectors and PDFs don't contain a resolution. Vectors are mathematical equations that require the device outputting the image to draw them to the best of their abiltiy.
PDFs are a wrapper for a file, it can wrap text, vectors and raster for output.
But all the same, InDesign uses lo-res thumbnails to represent the PDF/Image/Object until ready to output. But you need to adjust the Display Performance. -
Problem resizing imported jpg images in flash cs4
when i import a jpg file in flash and then resize this with the transform tool to for example 50% of the original size
then im not getting the same result as resizing it in photoshop.
if i first resize it in photoshop and import the image is smooth and looks the way i want
but if i resize in flash the image gets edgy and not so good.
so is there a way in flash cs 4 to resize the image with the same result as resizing it in photoshop or
similar?thanks for advice =)
but the size of the jpeg will maintain the same?
seems like that, otherwise i think photoshop is the only option.. -
Loss of quality of photos when I import
Hi all, I'm wondering 1) why my photos suddenly look so bad when I import them from iPhoto to iMovie. I haven't had this problem before. And 2) I've noticed that when I import a photo, suddenly my trash increases by 117 KB and if I view the trash, I see a copy of the picture there. What is going on?
I searched previous posts and tried resizing the photo in Photoshop before importing it, but nothing changed.
I'd appreciate any ideas or advice you have! Finally got an answer from Apple about this. Technical Support have just been able to re-create the problem, and have admitted there is a fault. Have been told to wait for an update.
Hope this helps.

Resizing imported graphics?
Hi - using FM9. My issue is this - when I import a graphic into graphic frame, I usually have to manually resize the graphic to fit the frame. This degrades the quality of the graphic. I've tried using the Fit in Selected Rectangle option, but it then places a very small version of the graphic in the middle of the frame.
Any advice? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks! If you're using any form of bitmapped graphic, you're better off resizing it with a graphics tool before you link it to your FrameMaker document.
Assuming you're using an anchored frame to hold/place the resized graphic ... after you've set up the link to import the graphic, select the frame and use Esc, m, p to "shrink-wrap" the graphic by resizing the anchored frame to fit. (If you're unhappy about black-magic shortcuts, you can get to this command by opening the Equations palette and choosing "Shrink-wrap equation" from the Equations pull-down)
Note: shrink-wrapping automatically sets the anchored frame Anchoring Position to "at insertion point", which you can then alter manually if you need to.

What dpi & quality when resizing pics in PSE for use in PRE?
For use in Premiere Elements 7:
When resizing my digital camera pictures in Photoshop to the reduced sizes 1000 x 750 you recommend when panning & zooming, there are a couple of additional choices.
One asks for the Resolution in dpi. Should it be 600, 300, or less?
The other thing is: Convert files to ??? JPEG max quality or standard or what?
I'm still a beginner at Premiere, so please don't get too technical!
Thanks, Elisabeth.Do not worry about asking questions.
As for the .PSD's, these are Photoshop's native file format. They are uncompressed, and can contain Layers of several sorts. Now, I do not use PSElements, so do not know how it would differ from the full version of PS that I use. PS also does NOT have a SlideShow feature, so there could be major differences here. [See, you asked a question that I cannot answer!] If PSE does not list .PSD files as sources for SlideShows, then totally disregard my earlier comments on that workflow. I do all of my SlideShows in PrPro, which does Import .PSD's and in more ways, than PrE does.
Now, JPEG is a compressed file format. This means that some of the data is "thrown away," when the file is Saved_As JPEG. How much will depend on the "Quality" settings. The higher the Quality, the less data is discarded. The inverse is also true.
Now, there are two considerations, regarding image files for Video. One applies only to .PSD, and both apply to JPEG. The main one is the Image Size. This will be the horizontal and the vertical sizes in pixels, say 720 (h) x 480 (v). This applies to both (actually to TIFF's, PNG's, GIF's, TGA's, etc, but we're talking about JPEG and PSD only for now) file types, and applies equally. The Quality setting is the degree of compression. Higher Quality = less compression. This is where PSE is saying to use the higher Quality - in the compression settings. PSD files are not compressed, so this does not apply to them.
Hope that this clears things up a bit. I'll try to track down whether PSE can use .PSD files, but if you have the program, you might want to check the Help (F1) files, under File Formats, and also under SlideShows.
Just for clarity sake, here are the "codes" in my post:
PS = Photoshop
PSE = Photoshop Elements
PrPro = Premiere Pro
PrE = Premiere Elements
Good luck,

Why is Adobe Flash CS6 crashing sporadically when resizing MC's or shapes?
Why is Adobe Flash CS6 crashing sporadically when resizing MC's or shapes?
It doesn't happen all the time but when Flash crashes, it happens when i'm resizing a symbol or a shape.
I'm using Flash CS6 v 12.0.0.481
Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6630M 256 MB
Software OS X 10.8.1 (12B19)
-LineI'm going to add my voice to this bug report. Adobe Flash CS6 crashes sporadically for me (numerous times per day), and it's almost always when I am editing a vector shape control point using the subselection tool. If I select a control point and nudge it with the keyboard arrow keys, I haven't encountered a problem. But if I select a control point, then click and drag it to reposition it, I often get the spinning wheel followed by a crash. Is this really a bug or a problem related to my own hardware/software configuration?
I am working on a Mac Pro with 2 x 2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon processors, 24GB RAM running OS X 10.7.5. Here is the crash report from the most recent crash (about 10 minutes before I posted this):

How do I maintain a transparent background when I convert to movie
I am editing video so I can embed it into a web page and I want to maintain a transparent background when I convert the video. When I convert now it is putting in a black background automatically. I know it's probably an ez fix, please help!
ThanksKevan D. Holdsworth wrote:
Rendering prior to export will create a black background, I believe.
That is typically true. The key workaround is to switch the Compressor value in your Sequence Settings to Animation then, in the Advanced Settings, alter Depth to Millions of Colors+.
Now when you render, you'll render out with an alpha channel. This way, you can export reference movies via File > Export > QT Movie, using Current Settings and import your FCP-created movie into AE, Motion, LiveType, etc on your same system and be able to maintain your alpha.
I add this only because depending on the workflow, it's sometimes more efficient to render in FCP.
