PS3 and XBox 360 problems. NAT issue.

I don't know if anyone is having this issue. I own an XBox 360 and a PS3, both connected wirelessly to my WRT54GS router. If I play the XBox 360 (which requires an open NAT) it's fine. As soon as I download something (not play something) on my PS3, it turns the NAT into Moderate rather than Open. When I again turn on my XBox 360 I have problems with Live. So I must reset my router every time I download content on my PS3.
Does anyone know why this happens or how to keep it from happening again?
Thanks,
Ryan

check out the hardware version on the unit...and then go to www.linksys.com/download and look for the firmware of the appropriate version number of WRT54GS...
access the router interface using http://192.168.1.1 . Logon using the password "admin"..ensure that the router has the same firmware as available on the website...if not , upgrade it first..
after the firmware upgrade , reset the router and reconfigure ...
on the router ui , change the MTU settings to 1364 ...assign static ip add and dns on the x-box and PS3....the ip add should be out of the range of the router's DHCP ( i.e out of 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.149 )
on the router ui , go to "Applications and gaming" tab and forward ports 88 and 3074 for the ip add of the x-box and 10070 - 10080 , 6000 - 6999 for the PS3..

  • Ps3 and Xbox 360 already asked many times but no solution works

    Hi,
first of all I'd like to share with all of you my real disappoint for having bought this Airport Extreme Base Station. I really hope that someone at Apple will read my post and come to my house because I would have just a few words to tell them.
After 4 years of proficuous cooperation my Netgear WI-Fi router left me and I immediately thought to replace it with an Apple product just to be sure that it would have been easy to install and on top of performances.
I chose the Airport Extreme which is much more expensive than quite all the other same product but I didn't care about it because I would have brang home an excellent product.....or...at least I thought it !
Once in my room the soap opera began. I'm not a genius but I consider myself a medium skilled user and, in any case, even it is not my real job, I configured many bigger LANs than my personal ones and I never had such kidn of problem.
I read many posts where people were asking for information because they couldn't connect their Airport Extreme to their PS3 or Xbox 360 but I never had such kind of problem. It really worked immediately and both consoles worked in few moments.
My REAL problem is that both of them are terribly slow and I can't do anything online. I can't see streming videos, I can't play online and I can't neither play videos that are on a LAN DLNA server !!!!! It takes about 35 seconds to play a video and some times it has to stop for empty buffering reason. This is really unacceptable.
I tried so many configurations and nothing changed and I also took a look at some guides but they had been written with old firmwares so they are quite unuseful for me.
After having asked a friend of mine to give me his router (a Netgear ones) for some days I finally made myself sure that the problem is the Airport Extreme.
It also has a very poor signal because my iPhone has difficulties to keep the connection in areas where my old router worked fully.
If only I could turn back time I'd never buy it again but now, having spent to useless my money, could you please let me know a working configuration for the latest firmware 7.4.2 ? I tried to use the previous firmware but I have the same problems.
There is only a wall separating the Airport Extreme from the PS3 and Xbox and both of them get a 100% of signal but I really don't know what to do.
Thanks for all the help you could provide me.
    Bye.
    Christian

Sorry but I have no way to measure the actual throughput for any of my devices (I have 2 Xboxes which have the same problem and even my iPhone suffer of a bad connection).
In any case I really can't understand why the connection is so bad. I can even get in touch with my ISP to ask them if there is some problem with the connection (maybe a coincidence and the Airport Extreme has nothing to do with it ?????) but the facts remain: even my DLNA server and PS3 connection is slow and I can't clearly see the movies I have in my intenal LAN and also the iPhone show a poor connection to the Airport Extreme and it is because of the Extreme for sure.
I really don't know what to do.

  • WRT160n and Xbox 360 Internet connection issues

I just got this router and it is working fine in getting connection but me and my roommates are having issues with the NAT type when playing xbox. As far as i know, two are hooked into the LAN via ethernet cable and the other is using wireless. When playing we all experience different levels of NAT type, Strict, Moderate, and Open. Is there a way to set up the router so that the NAT will stay open for all of us at the same time. The only way to get that now is to unplug the router just as we want to get on and play.

How many X-Box do you have...?

  • WRT54GL and Xbox 360 problems

So, I recently bought an Linksys WRT54GL and used it to set up a network, and its working great. But when I got the official wireless adapter for my Xbox 360 I started to get a few problems. The thing is, when I am to select a wireless network, I can only see other networks around me and not mine. As it said on the Xbox troubleshoot thingy, I moved my router near my Xbox, I even put it on the Xbox. But it still doesn't find my network, while my computer finds it perfectly. And i've tried entering my network manually but it still doesn't work.

  • Help - WRT400n how do I get better hard wired speeds on PS3 and Xbox 360

I wanted to get better speeds while playing on-line on the PS3.  I bought the WRT400n router (I had the WRT54G) and it seems to be working ok.  I just hardwired the ps3 and the speeds are a little slower.  Wireless I was getting 12.0 Mbps down and 1.0 Mbps up, now wired I am now gettiner 10.0Mbps down and 2.0 Mbps up.   I numbers are lower wired, how come?  I have a new Cat 5 cable and I just had a direct cable dedicated to the router put in.  I thought I was going to see much better speeds.  Can anyone help me out?  I am very confused about the the speeds.  People were telling me when I hardwired I would get get speeds up to 50 to 100.  What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks..............

On your Router setup page, below change the MTU size to 1365 and below click on Save Settings, then click on the Wireless tab and below change the Wireless Channel to 11 and click on Save Settings, then click on the sub tab under wireless "Advance Wireless Settings" and below Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...
Once you are with this settings, then click on the 'Security" tab and below Uncheck "Block Anonymous Internet Request" and click on Save Settings...
Now unplug the power from the Router and Modem, wait for 30sec and then first plug the power to the Modem and once all the lights are solid then plug the power to the Linksys Router. Now you can check the speed on your XBOX.

  • Updated to 7.3.1, PC and Xbox 360 can't connect

Hey, anyone else having problems getting PCs and Xbox 360s to connect to the AirPort Extreme after the 7.3.1 update? Wired or wireless, my PC (Vista, with and without SP1) and my Xbox 360 (with the official wireless network adapter) won't connect.

I am in the same boat...
7.2 worked great... 7.3.1 does not even show in the network list. Also, downgrading it does not fix the issue?!?!?

  • WRT54G 2.2- Xbox 360's NAT setting is Moderate, please help!

Ok, here's the story...normally i always have the 360's network settings to 'automatic' , but since the new Live update i've been having lots of trouble, like : I try to start a private chat with someone, but the person isn't able to join me or when i try to join their chat/party it doesn't work.
However, just now when that person was already in a party with someone, i WAS able to join...but as soon as i get an invite from that person when he's got no one else in the party...it doesn't work.
So i started to check the net for advice...and i found another forum where they said i had to do a few things.
    http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm
I made a static IP for Vista and Xbox 360. And finally this
    http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WRT54G/Xbox_Live_360.htm
Then i test the Live connection, and everything is fine it seems, but at the end i receive an error about how my NAT is Moderate. It then gives suggestions such as, to check if you have enabled UpnP on the router...which i have. It advices you to turn off the router and/or modem for a few minutes...nothing of that makes a change here sadly.
That forum also told me to open these ports.
    Port: 1900
    Naam: UPnP Framework
    Protocol: UDP
    Scope: My network (subnet) only
    Port: 2290
    Naam: Remote Media Center Experience

  • Two questions about the E1000 and Xbox 360

Okay this is going to be a two part questions. ( both my friend and I have the E1000 )
    1st
My friend and his brother are having issues with their Xbox 360's. My friend has his xbox set to dmz mode and his brother is just using I guess we'll say the default way. And when my friend is playing any game his brother tries to play call of duty black ops and the nat says strict or moderate. Now I was reading about port range triggering and how to set it up but there are different ways some people are doing it. I've seen a few videos that the people had different settings. Whats the correct way that my friend and his brother can both play xbox 360 and not have any nat issues?
    ( BTW their both hook-up wired )
    2nd
I'm currently using dmz settings as-well ( wireless ) My home users only uses a few devices like laptops, ipods, kindle, and just one Xbox. Now I want the optimal performance I can get. I'm currently downloading mass effect ( games on demand xbox 360 ) The game size is 6.83gb and taking awhile to download. I say I've been downloading it for over 40 minutes and I'm currently at 77%, is this normal speed? Or can I boost my speed a bit? My Internet Provider is Cablevision in NJ "Optimum Online" download is 15mbps download is 5mbps.

Xbox live will only let you connect 1 xbox for every WAN IP address. Your ISP gives you only 1 dynamic public IP which will be pass down from the modem to the router. The router gives your other devices private ip addresses.
Strictly speaking, only 1 xbox will be allowed by xbox live to connect because of the reason you only have 1 public ip. You will be lucky if you can connect two.
Anyway, you can try the steps below:
Access the page of your router
    Click Admin Tab, disable UpNP.
    Then trigger ports: 3074/53/88/22728/33233
    2869/10280-10284/1900/1024
Click Applications and Gaming Center Tab
    Click Port Range Trigger
    Ex:
    Application name: xbox1, xbox2
xbox1--enter port 3074 on all 4 boxes and click enable
xbox2--enter 10280 on start box and 10284 on end box, same for the other 2 boxes and click enable.
Enter all number and on the applications boxes and save

  • 32" LCD HDTV Dynex - will not recognize a PS3 or Xbox 360

I recently bought this TV for $300, I've tried connecting both a PS3 and a 360. Both times the TV refused to recognize the signal from the the HDMI cables. I tried different cables and different ports. Thoughts?

Is your Dynex TV 720p. It sounds like you have your PS3 and 360 set up for 1080p format and your TV is only 720p, I would recheck the settings of your PS3 and 360.

  • Starz Play and Xbox 360

I am not new to this and I DO know what I'm doing. I have the network set up the way it always has been. Its ethernet, and its going through the switch and Fios router. I recently downloaded Starz Play and it works great on my Desktop, Laptop, but NOT on my 360. I have been streaming Vista MCE to it for months, and it all works GREAT with no network interference of any sort. The application doesnt show my 360 as an available device for it to extend to, so I am stumped. I searched the interwebs already, so any advice is more than appreciated. Thanks!

From Starz Play FAQ under "Connect to your TV"
"Connecting Starz Play To Your TV
Starz Play offers many very simple ways of connecting Starz Play to your TV for your viewing pleasure. For XP MCE and Vista MCE users you can choose to connect your TV to your computer Using the XBOX 360 as an extender.
It's easy to have room-to-room entertainment throughout your home with a PC running Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and Xbox 360. All you need are a few components to get things started:
        • A PC running Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 or Vista with MCE
        • An Xbox 360 with the Xbox 360 Wireless Media Adapter
        • A wired or wireless (preferably 802.11a) home network
        • A broadband Internet connection
With your Media Center PC hooked up to your home network, you're ready to introduce the Xbox 360 to the mix so you can start enjoying your photos, music, movies, and recorded TV in other rooms of your home. You can experience all this in high-definition if you've got a TV or monitor that can deliver it.

  • WRT55AG and XBox 360 connectivity issues

I've had this router for almost 2 years and in the last month I've started developing issues of when I play a game on the XBox 360 I get constant issues with lag and disconnecting errors that make playing any game online impossible, but I never lose connection to XBox Live. This is happening with multiple games including Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty 4, and Halo 3.
Now before this I would have problems where the router would completely lose connection with my cable modem and I would have to reset everything but then it would be fine. Now I don't lose internet connection (PC is wired into router while 360 is wireless with Microsoft's official Wi-Fi periphial) or XBox Live connection, but any game I try to play is a fruitless endeavor because of lag.
My ISP is Charter Communication in the St. Louis area, and my connection is 3 down, 256 up. I have done speed tests and I'm getting pretty much those speeds exactly. I have opened the ports to make my NAT open, and the XBox test confirms my NAT is open.
I'm at the end of my rope, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Open routers set up page using http://192.168.1.1 ...leave username blank & in  password use admin....
Click on "application & gaming" tab ...... forward the ports 88 & 3074 for static Ip of X-BOX ....enable the servie & click save settings ....
USe static Ip ...subnet mask ...gateway & DNS numbers on X-BOX confgiuration
Do power cycle & see if you arew able to play games online or not...

  • Please help: connection issues (ATT, Time Capsule and xbox 360 live)

I am having near constant issues with my home network, so I am hoping to tap in to the collected knowledge of the internets to help sort things out.
Main issue: daily/hourly internet disconnection. Now, my 360 wireless adaptor can't even see the network. Ugh. Basically, I am hoping someone could give me the "best" configuragtion (ie settings for network, Time Capsule, 360 and/or wireless adaptor) for my current set-up.
    My set up:
LinkSys modem from ATT (in bridge mode)-->
    Apple Time Capsule (router) -->
Mad Catz 360 wireless network adaptor -->
    Xbox 360
I have spent some time looking through the forums but keep running into conflicting recommendations and nothing I have tried so far seems to have helped. Thanks (in advance) for the help.

So, you must have somehow reconfigured the 2wire to perform as a simple modem, even though it is a full fledged modem/router combination. I've see the 2wire, but never configured one, so I can't offer a lot of help there.
Was there a particular reason why you configured the 2wire as a bridge when you could have simply configured the TC as a bridge to work with the 2wire? In other words, the 2wire would do the PPPoE service along with DHCP and NAT.
Maybe you tried it this way and something didn't work?
We've seen a number of posts from users who are having issues with the TC doing the PPPoE service. I just wonder if you are not betting off letting the 2wire do what the ISP intended it to do.
