Ps3 connectivity is very slow
what do i do, i have my ps3 connected to my router via wireless and i lag extremely bad when i play online. the signal strength is 50%. how do i get rid of the lag?
if changing the MTU size to 1400 doesn't make any difference , try changing it to 1365.
if you do not know how to access the router's web interface you can refer to this link

Time Capsule connection is very slow on windows 8
Time Capsule wireless connection is very slow on a Samsung windows 8 computer.
Any advice? It is placed next to my mac and the speed is 20% less (often more)
If I move the computer into the livingroom (about 10 meter) the speed is reduced with 95%.Windows 8 drivers are still developing.. download the drivers from the wireless manufacturer not Samsung and try it.
I am not surprised though at differences between wireless.. card using different chipsets and different antennas will give totally different results.
But you can help a bit.. setup the TC with SMB names.. short, no spaces, pure alphanumeric.
Set the name for 5ghz different to 2.4ghz so you can change over.
Set the security to WPA2 Personal which is the only one suitable for N wireless at home without a server.
Set 2.4ghz to manual radio channels and test, channel 1, 6, 11 in turn.
Try up close using 5ghz as it is faster.. but to get full speed you need a broadcom 450mbps card..
Remember wireless chipset like atheros and broadcom never quite see eye to eye.. it is one reason you buy the same brand.
Solution.. buy a cheap edimax wireless router.. plug it into the TC and use it for wap only.. I just did this for a friend.. works much better than TC or airport extreme on a PC. But I have not used win8 yet.. no idea if that is going to be problematic. -
I have just returned from a business trip to China and my Macbook is not well. My internet connection is very slow and drops out intermittently. Is there a utility I can run which might clean it up.
Hello,
I have very similar problem. Suddenly Firefox stopped work - It was working few days after ver. 4 update. I was looking everywhere for some solution but nothing worked.
- uninstalled firewall - did not worked
- added full exception for Firefox into the firewall - did not worked
- Firefox reinstall - did not worked
- Firefox complete reinstall (registry included) - did not worked
- IPv6 diseabling - did not worked
- diferent proxy options (no proxy, system proxy, autodetect proxy) - did not worked
- new firefox profile - did not worked
- complete coockies, history... deleted - did not worked
- there is only one solution which partly works - I have used public proxy addresses for Firefox but the ping is (750ms), down/up (0.8MB/0.2MB originaly (10MB/2MB) and yes I have tried different proxy server from different countries from my included.
- IE is working perfectly and without proxy
- other companies browser - did not worked too
- only IE is working
- I have used three different malware, trojans, spyware, anti-virus programs and nothing
It seems to me as hopeless situation or very clever move from Microsoft, I am forced to use IE - at least this works
Any ideas, solutions?
System Windows 7, firewall Comodo Internet security
Thanks everyone for the help -
Dear all
I bought two days ago HP Deskjet 3520 e-All-in one printer serie, but i have some really bad issues with the scanner! I have searched on the internet and i couldn’t find anything to solve the problem.
I have installed the printer according to the book of the printer, so everything did go well(i think), except that i can’t connect the scan to my computer, a Mac OS X (i am connected with the printer). I get directed to the website where i can connect the scanner, but every time i try to connect it with wi-fi, i get two notification, one from my computer (from HP Itility (Dutch) program) that the connection is off and second from the website that i have to make sure that i’m connected with internet (which i am) and to check the IP address if it is the same with my computer (which is the same).
Obesely something did go wrong, but i can’t find the problem.
Beside when its copy or prints a document (no matter how many pages) it’s very slow. It takes 10 -15 minutes till the printer starts. Has it something to do with the problem i’ve got with the scanner or is the printer always so slow? Because the very first time, when i installed the printer, it printed very fast.
By the way i also print the test-results to check if there is a problem, but according to test-results there are no problems at all.
I hope that someone recognize this problem and can help me to solve it.

(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=192.168.247.27)(PORT=1522)))Why use port 1522?
It is always a good idea to use the standard ports for a network application. There is no logic in obfuscating ports for security purposes. It also makes network management and dealing with quality of service issues for example, much more complex if you do not stick to the registered application ports.
Also note that if you provide a dotted IP address, only that address will be used for binding the tcp port as a listening end point. This means no connections will be accepted on localhost and other IP addresses of that server. Make sure that this is what is technically required.
ifconfig
bond6 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:26:55:D3:02:B6
Why are you using bonding? How many bonded interfaces are there and now many physical NICs? Bond6 alludes that it is the 7th bonded interface - and at 2 NICs per bonded interface it implies that your server has 14 physical Ethernet interfaces. Which I doubt is true.
RX packets:1309675596 errors:5 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:3Not good to see any errors. What does ethtool stats show? Also check that the physical interfaces are enabled for full duplex. Some Cisco switches do not negotiate it properly and the NIC could be running half duplex.
Also - using bonding... does not seem right. The 1st and default bonded interface should be +/dev/bond0+ - and not bond6.
Check the server's network configuration (the +ifcfg-*+ files in +/etc/sysconfig/networking-scripts+ directory). Suggest that you get a network engineer (or the like) to assist with reviewing the network setup of that server. -
Oracle connection is very slow
Hello,
I install oracle enterprise 5 and oracle 11g R2 and when i connect oracle from plsql developer connectoion is very very slow.
What do you think about this problem ?
i don't want to install oracle 11g on windows server !Hi,
Get the network speed/connection checked from the source server to database server. Also check the resources usage on client and server machine for any sign of resource issues.

Fast internet connection but very slow browsing
Hi,
For some time now we have been struggling with very slow browsing speeds. Sometimes the web page will not even load. ADSL speed checks show a good up and down speed and shown below and everything appears to run well if we simply download a file.
Do any of the numbers below indicate any problems?
We have various pc's both hard wired and connected wirelessly and the problems are the same on all. The laptop works fine on my office connection.
Any help greatly appreciated.

UCP wrapped connection is very slow
Test with oracle jdbc driver - 11.2.0.3 and latest 12.1.0.1.
When we create connections directly, we get an instance of oracle.jdbc.driver.LogicalConnection.
When we create connections from UCP pool, we get an instance of $Proxy
Then, we run the same test on this connection:
public static long runDBTest(int loopCount) {
final Connection con = //get connection from pool or directly
long b = System.currentTimeMillis();
for(int index=0;index<loopCount;index++){
try {
PreparedStatement s = con.prepareStatement("select count(*) from no_table");
s.close();
catch (Exception e) {
System.out.println(e);
return (System.currentTimeMillis()-b);
some result of 10000 iterations:
--------- UCP accessUniversalConnectionPool ---------
connection: $Proxy0@61578aab
prepare statement only (ms): 512, 523...
execute a statement (ms): 2029, 2022...
--------- accessOracleConnectionPool ---------
connection: oracle.jdbc.driver.LogicalConnection@3adec8b3
prepare statement only (ms): 223, 247...
execute a statement (ms): 1632, 1671...
This is just synthetic test, but we did our performance tests with real usage of database (selects, updates) and it is indeed slower in real life scenarios, by magnitude of 10, so this synthetic test shows the problem very vell.
Is this inherent overhead of UCP or something can be done? Dynamic proxies introduce that much overhead?
As I understand, we need to use UCP to be able to support advanced features like oracle RAC, right?1). yes, same JVM. it is running from same standalone java class, just pass into different parameters.
2). I already did, there is no significant different in execution part, time difference is from the prepare step.
the tests are done with local database, means JVM and oracle are in same machine.
see result below, execution part only is pretty much similar, around 1.5s.
--------- UCP accessUniversalConnectionPool ---------
connection: $Proxy0@61578aab
prepare statement only (ms): 512, 523...
execute a statement (ms): 2029, 2022... --- execution part is 1500 ms.
--------- accessOracleConnectionPool ---------
connection: oracle.jdbc.driver.LogicalConnection@3adec8b3
prepare statement only (ms): 223, 247...
execute a statement (ms): 1632, 1671...--- execution part is 1400 ms. -
Problems connecting and very slow speed
When trying to connect to my airport sometimes I've been getting an error message telling me that it can't connect. I have made no changes and moved nothign around. Also when it does finally connect it takes very long to load a page. As of right now I have just plugged an ethernet cable into my computer. Also my computer will no longer connect to the Airport automatically. Can someone please help?
Thank You
TamaraGreetings Tamara Lyke,
To set up your computer to connect Automatically to your Airport:
go to System Preferences; click on Network; Location: Automatic, Show: Network Port Configurations; Make sure Airport is Checked and make sure you click on Apply now.
this might help too.....

Wireless connections get very slow
Hi, I'm having a nightmare lately with my wireless connections, it's not the network I'm connecting to as I've checked that with other machines, it's a problem with the wireless card in my machine.
For a while it works OK, then it just slows right down, the only way to get it back upto speed is by rebooting. Anyone know of a solution? Not sure if this will help but I was experiencing a similar issue (at least the symptoms) on my MacBook. Got a new router and setup it up as the previous one was (same SSID, WEP key, etc). For some reason the MacBook did not like the WEP implementation on this router and it would get slower and slower until no more network access. Rebooting would fix.
As soon as I changed the router to use WPA2 (or something like that) the issues were gone. Now it just works.
Note that from all other machines, NO issues were happening. Just on the MacBook.
After changing the encryption to use the newer thing, all is good now.
I would try changing that and/or playing with settings like channel, etc. -
ADSL connection recently very slow: 0.5Mbps - 1.9M...
Hi Guys,
I'm having a problem with the speed of my ADSL line. I've had a steady 6.5Mb from the connection since I moved in two years ago, but for the past 3-4 weeks it's been hovering between 512kbps to 1.9Mbps.
I dumped the BT homehub router not long after I moved in because it died every time I tried copying data from one computer to another via wifi. I've been using a Belkin F7D4401 Play Max ever since.
I spoke to India and they went through the usual steps of asking me to plug the router into the main socket, changing the microfilters, rebooting the router, etc. They eventually claimed they'd reset my line and the speed would come back over several days, but it has not.
One more wrinkle to the story: I had a power cut last week and when the power came back, so did the speed of my connection. After about 3 days though I woke up one morning and found it was back to being really slow again.
I'm connected via ethernet to the router which is connected via microfilter to the socket nearest where the phone line enters the house. I get the following on the BT Speed tester:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1.93 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.6 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8.06 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7 Mbps
My IP profile has stayed consistent throughout this, so I don't think it's a case of noise on the line (I have tried the Quiet Line test and could hear no crackling).
These are the stats from the router:
ADSL
Type Interleave Path
Status Show Time
Downstream Upstream
Data Rate (kbps) 8064 448
Noise Margin (dB) 8.5 25.0
Attenuation (dB) 32.7 17.0
Output power(dbm) 19.8 12.5
I'd prefer not to have to dig the HomeHub out of the garage but I will if you think it will help!
Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?
Thanks for your help guys!
Solved!
Go to Solution.OK, interesting developments. Since connecting the HomeHub the speed has come back again, just like after the power cut. I suppose the question is whether it's the Belkin router or whether the speed will still drop again after a few days.
I've re-run the BT Speed Tester while connected via the Home Hub and got the following details.
Download speedachieved during the test was - 5.65 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.6 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :7.3 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 6 Mbps
My IP profile seems to have dropped by 1Mb compared to earlier but I believe that's due to me reconnecting a few times while setting up the Home Hub.
Here are the connection stats from the Home Hub:

My mac air is running slugiish and my internet connection takes forever to change windows...what can I do?
If the computer is brand new, it may be reviewing (indexing) all you files for search. This will take a few hours to complete. Otherwise you likely have a program that is running poorly and slowing your system down.
Open the Fibder
Click the Go menu at the top of the screen
Click on utilities menu item under go
Open the Activity Monitor
When Activity monitor opens, there will be a lot of data in the window, to make better sense of it click on the column labeled CPU. This will sort entries by how much of your computer's CPU they use. The lower the number the better.
Locate any programs using 80% or more of your CPU. They are the likely culprits of your speed issue.
If the speed issue is only related to surfing the internet, then you more than likely have an issue with WiFi instead. Try moving closer to your wireless router to see if it speeds up. -
Connect Performance - Very Slow
I have just installed Oracle pi 9.0.1) Release 1 on two machines running Windows 2000. The machines are in a local area network of 3 machines through an ADSL firewall router.
When an application I have connects to oracle using <database user>@<database name>/<user password> I get timeouts.
Using sqlplus it takes about 10 seconds to connect although it does connect eventually.
I have a feeling it is a DNS problem but my knowledge of Oracle is rudementary in the more complicated config issues.
Can anyone point me in the right direction ? I've searched the forum but cannot find appropriate help.
Thanks !!!My guess would be that you're using either oracle names or host naming and that the name resolution is taking time because these namimg methods are not configured (I assume that you really want to use local naming through tnsnames.ora).
Try using the 'profile' option in net assistant to remove oracle names and host naming (if they both exist) or move them below local in resolution order. See if that helps. -
After intalling windows server 2008 R2 on database server, dstabase connections are very slow
Hi,
I upgraded my server from windows server 2003 to windows server 2008 R2. I have two application servers. Now applications on application servers are trying to execute queries but those are taking too long. It is very strange why it is happening.
Firewall rule is open for 1433 TCP and 1434 UDP.
Application servers are Windows Server 2003
Thanks in advance!
Thanks,
SanjeevAnother possible cause is a problem with the application server. You might try a reboot of the problem app server to see of that changes performance.
If performance doesn't change after the reboot, try a coping a 100MB file from the database server to the application servers for performance comparison. Assuming the performance difference for the copy is roughly the same as the queries, that
will eliminate SQL Server for troubleshooting and allow you to focus on networking as the likely culprit. The fact that 10Mbps outperforms 100Mbps is concerning. Perhaps the OS upgrade resulted in different drivers or interface configuration, or maybe
there is something else going on external to the servers, such as incorrect routing.
I'm not a network guy but I would start by reviewing network interfaces on all servers to ensure they are configured properly and for full capabilities of the hardware and correct subnet and gateway. Also review all components if your network
topology for proper configuration.
For additional help with Windows networking, I suggest you start a new thread in the Windows Server Platform Networking TechNet forum (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/home?forum=winserverPN).
Include the results of the file copy test and a link back to this thread.

No connectivity or very slow connectiviy with iPad2
Just downloaded F-Secure Freedome onto a PC and an iPad2, (iOS 8.4). PC works fine (Windows7). Freedome version 2.3.1.2529 in the iPad app. When Freedome is on Safari will not connect. When I turn off Freedome on app nothing improves. When I turn off VPN in Settings Safari connects again. No change if I go Airplane mode on or off, the only thing that fix the issue for me is to turn off the VPN in settings, which makes the app kind of..... obsolete... on the iPad. Anyone who knows how to fix this issue?
I came up on your post, I too am experiencing the same thing. I got the new iPhone 5s on SAT and today I started having no connection issues but the phone would say I have 3 to 4 bars of signal. I ran speed test one minute I would have 67 ping and 12MB download then it would drop to .02MB and 100 ping in the same spot in the room. I can restart the device and it will run well for about 2 min then it craps out. I have the unlimited data package and my droid phone never had this problem Im thinking of taking this thing back.
