PS3 gets lag spikes that vanish with AirPort Utility open

Having a rather strange issue. My setup includes an Airport Express, a PS3, Apple TV, an iPad and iPhone. I've shut down all other devices to simplify matters. When playing online games on the PS3 after a while I tend to experience in game latency issues. Not 100% of the time but usually after playing for a bit.
What has me puzzled is that opening the Airport Utility on my iPhone caused the problem to disappear for the duration of however long I kept the app open. When I closed the app, the lag came back. I left the app open on my phone for a half hour and had latency free gameplay the entire time.
Any ideas what the problem could be?

Hi. We are very new to Macs (2 weeks). Have a Mac Book and AEBS. Both work fine. Our HP printers, however, only work if connected directly to the Mac Book. I just upgraded to os 10.9.5. When I try to open iPhoto, I am told that the version I have(9.3), is not compatible with the os. But it came with it when I upgraded. What do I have to do to get an iPhoto that works with 10.9.5? TIA

I would recommend just about anything from either Bose or Audioengine that are self-powered and provide either analog or digital audio inputs. One example would be the Audioengine A2+ speakers.

Not necessarily. We use a product called Scannerz to test hard drives. They have a book on hard drive troubleshooting that you can download here:

Scroll to the bottom of the web page and download the Hard Drive Troubleshooting book. You won't want to read the whole thing, just the section describing your problem. Most of the stuff they describe in their "advanced" section requires unit disassembly, and the way that section is written I think they're assuming people know how to take units apart without any instructions - in other words it's not written "for the rest of us." Most of the resets they describe that you might need can be done by anyone.
If you end up buying Scannerz, I would NOT recommend Scannerz-Lite, I'd go with Scannerz with FSE-Lite. It costs about $14.00 more but they keep enhancing the product and adding more applications to it, all free if you own Scannerz w/FSE or FSE-Lite. I'd also avoid FSE all together unless you know a fair amount about the operating system, files, processes, Unix type path names, etc. etc.
If you're lucky that will end up being nothing more than a reset.

Printer problem with Airport Utility and Epson CX5500

Hi,
I recently bought an iMac '24 2.66 Computer and was able to set up my internet through an airport. When it came to hooking up a wireless Epson CX5500 printer, the airport recognized it, but when it came to print in the printing queue it simply wont print. I was able to find a very helpful post that would possibly be my next step in fixing it (probably just a program error or hook up)

The problem that i have is the step by step process of altering this or finding it. As i made the name of the shared printer EPSONStylusCX5500 but could not acess the printer name one to change it. The url link still shows the 20%. If someone could please take the time to explain on how to do it, then maybe just maybe, i would be able to print wirelessly. Any other ideas or even cheap printers that would work without a problem as i would simply go out and buy one instead. Thanks.

TC will not communicate with Airport Utility error -6753. Wireless, internet (unsecure), and backup work fine., ,

TC is not communicating with Airport Utility (error -6753). I do have a flashing amber light. The wireless (printer, TiVo), internet (unsecure), and backups to Time Capsule work fine. I have done many hard and soft Resets, but that has not helped. Airport utility show the TC as amber and but won't let me findout the status of what is causing the problem.

What mode is the TC running in, router or bridged? You can sometimes have issues if the TC is bridged and the network is getting IP in a different subnet.
I would recommend disconnecting the TC from the network and plugging it directly into the Mac via ethernet. You may also need to do a reset if the dhcp is off, as in bridge.
Also note are you pressing the reset for long enough that the led on front starts blinking rapidly.. hold it in for 15sec to be sure.

I am having the exact same problem. MacForums has been helping me, and I called Apple. After trying everyone's suggestions, and Apple's, no success.
My App Store app still says "incomplete or damaged." There is even a circle with a line through it on the icon. Apple said reinstall my Snow Leopard upgrade disc (not my original Leopard disc) and then run the Combo Update (like your suggestion). Did not work. I also updated the software from "Software Update". Rebooted.
I think this started after I replaced my hard drive with a SSD and moved the hard drive to where the DVD was. I wonder if the person above who had the same problem also installed a SSD?
Anyway, anymore ideas? Even Apple is stumped.
(In answer to the other post above, my Quicktime works fine.)

Just did some more reading. I was going by the icon in the dock. When I checked in Finder, there it was, fixed and brand new!! Thanks, anyway.

you probably have an incomplete/corrupt download.
to confirm check the file size against the expected file size.
then re-download perhaps with a different browser.

Correction on Question:
This is a web application and the users need to be able to load the editable .pdf form from the website, edit it and submit it back to the website from within Internet Explorer.
Users began getting the error message:
'The document could not be saved. This file is already open.'
last Friday after having no problems prior to this. Some users can edit the editable .pdf forms on the website and save the file with the same name to the website. Some get the error mentioned in the subject.
We really need help getting this resolved.

Time Capsule Connectivity Problem with Airport Utility and Mavericks

I have a Time Capsule from 2011 which worked perfectly with my IMac and Airport Utility 5.6.1 but since the upgrade to Mavericks, I cannot get it to work with Airport Utility. Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Time Capsule 4 gen. with iMac OS X Lion 3 Windows PC (XP OS, Vista OS, Seven OS) cable modem with TC as Wi-Fi. Time Machine on iMac found TC for backup easily. Have Wi-Fi access on PC XP with Airport utility but cannot create TC.

Installed today Time Capsule 4 gen. with iMac OS X Lion. I also have 3 Windows PC (XP OS, Vista OS, Seven OS). Internet Access is cable modem with TC as Wi-Fi. Time Machine on iMac found TC for backup easily. Have Wi-Fi access on PC XP with Airport utility but cannot create TC. Does the Airport utility under Windows is way to access backup capabilities with TC ?

The TC is really just an external networked hard disk plus router.. you can access the hard disk and place files on it from any computer. You can backup any computer to the TC but it will have to use a backup software in windows.. there are literally thousands available. The built in msbackup is horrible.. but you can download lots of different software and buy then online for not a lot. Macrium Reflect has a free disk image backup, and when you pay for it includes incremental. I think disk images are well worth it, as they recover much better.. and their is a proper method of recovery using a boot cd.
BTW the TC space is not endless. And it is designed to hold a large number of incremental backups.. so anything you do in backing up several machines will make the number of backups limited. Remember you can also use a usb hard disk plugged in as a Network accessible disk. But it has to be formatted HFS+ or Fat32.. the later being highly undesirable.

How do you archive a disk with AirPort Utility version 6?

Has anyone figured how to Archive Disks with AirPort utility version 6? I can see both drives but it refuses to do an Archive in version 6? (I don't even see a button to do so in the UI?)

Keep both 6.0 and 5.6 on your Mac (6.0 cannot be deleted).

MacBook Pro 15" resets when Airport Utility opens

My 2011 Macbook Pro randomly resets throughout the day.
This seems to be only when on the internet and every time the Airport Utility opens.
I've re-installed the software and switching the WiFi off will allow the computer to start.

Thanks, Tim. I will try your suggestions. I've been tinkering on my own with this problem, and a pattern may be emerging. I was asking myself, why DID I have internet access from the MacBook Pro the other evening and at no other time through a wireless connection since the 10.6 upgrade, save the fleeting moments when AirPort has just been turned on? Well, that seems to be the only time that the MacBook was connected to AirPort FIRST.
So, I turned AirPort off on this computer (the G5 tower that hasn't experienced problems) and toggled off and on AirPort on the problem machine. Internet access has again resumed on the laptop. After several hours of periodic usage, I turned AirPort back on on the G5, and both machines have been functioning well since.
I suspect tomorrow will be a different story, unless I repeat these steps (I don't typically shut down the desktop machine overnight). We'll see.
