PS3 low upload speed

We were connected to a BT infinity package that told us we would be getting 38meg dowload and 8meg upload. These speeds are being delivered fine when i use a 20m cat6 cable to laptop computers (38 download and near 6 upload according to speed checks) but they seem to drop significantly when the cable is attached to my ps3. When no other devices are active on the network the ps3's own connection tester is showing around 22meg download and only around 2 up and if any other devices are on the network then the upload can drop to below 1 meg.
While i understand the ps3's connection speed tester may not be entirely accurate it seems surprising and slightly annoying to be getting such a low upload, especially when we upgraded to infinity mostly for the benefit of better internet gaming.
I have already used the port forwarding options available in the homehub3 (for call of duty) and put the ps3 onto a DMZ on the hub so im really out of other explanations for such a low upload of 1meg to 2meg when we were advised we would be getting up to 8.
Any help or advice would be appreciated as i cant think of anything else to try, especially when the problem doesnt seem to affect our other computers.

You'll get a good idea of your download speed tomorrow when the "escalation" map pack is available...my girl-friend has infinity and the "first strike" pack took about 10 mins....personally, iI would beleive the upstream from your router stats or a btspeedtester.com result...ignore the ps3's info...remember, its a game console...not a computer...

  • Very low Upload Speed. How can I increase this?

    Hi there, new to the forums with my post.
    I'm a frequent online gamer and have the Bt unlimited package as a result. However over the past month I've been experiencing high latency spikes or just high latency in general upward of 1000ms. Naturally this makes any form of gaming impossible. During this past month I've conducted many speed tests and only recently discovered that my upload speeds are ridiculously low, ranging from 0.02mbps to a maximum of 0.06mbps. I believe this is what is causing my lag issues.
    My question is. What can I do to resolve this and raise my upload speed to an acceptable standard?

    Ok, heres the latest. Been on the phone to BT for the past few days. Theyve done various line tests/resets and have recently sent us a new homehub3. However our problem is now worse? Heres the latest speedtest.

  • Very low upload speed on Skype?

    I had low download and upload speed on Skype for a while. I have fixed the download speed by resetting the settings. My upload speed is still very low. A speed test says I have 18 mbps download and 5 mbps upload. My download speed went from about 5 kbps to 150 kbps after the reset. My upload speed, however has stayed at about 5 kbps. Please help me.

    Yes, that doesn't look good.

  • Very Low Upload Speed

    I wonder if anyone can help, as the BT helpdesk have refused to acknowledge that I have a problem. My BT Infinity Download speed os very good, around 30 mbits/sec. My Upload speed is very very poor, if fluctuates between 0.3 and 0.5 mbits/sec. If I use wireshark to capture the packets used when the BT Wholesale test is running I can see that I have a high packet loss rate for outgoing packets. So something is wrong. I remotely control the PC in my office from my home PC and the performance of this is definitely a lot poorer than it was recently. Kids have also complained about Itunes and stuff. Loss of packets on the outgoing link will damage download performance as the TCP ACKs are not getting back to teh data sender. Any advice on howe I can get BT to accept I have some kind of fault and do something about it? Their recommendation was that I get Business Broadband!!!!

    Hi coullyhomeip

  • Very low upload speed or long response times

    Hi,
    Just connected my Airport Extreme. Unfortunately, the upload speed appears to be extremely slow. Checking my connection using Speedtest.net reveals that it takes very long for my workstation to connect to the Speedtest server via my APExt, before it starts uploading the testpackage. I've also tested the performance of my ADSL connection by directly plugging a workstation into the DSL modem and retesting the connection via Speedtest.net. This shows a normal response between the client and the server.
    How do I further diagnose this problem? I didn't have this problem before a replaced my Sitecom wireless router with the Airport Extreme.
    Thanks,
    J

    And all that took was a firmware upgrade to version 7.6

  • Very low upload speeds for several weeks

    I am long time FIOS user. Love it.
    I have been seeing reasonable good 30MB download speeds, but the upload whch should in in the 15MB
    range has been at 2 to 2.5 for several weeks.DNS also seems spotty, sometimes good, somestimes bad.
    I have done the following
    - Disconnected battery in ONT, and then its power to reset.
    - Powered off/recycled  Actiontec router
    - Removed all other ethernet wired connected devices from router
    - Shutdown wireless side of actiontec
    - Tested with mutltiple PCs. No firewalls in the stream, nor VPNs etc
    - Tested with virgin Windows 7, which doesn't need Fios Optimized tool
    - Tested with Linux base PC
    - Removed all STBs from cable to make sure wasnt getting MOCA related issue
    - Changed ehternet cable, so set up is 2 feet from PC to actiontek, 4 feet (coax) from actiontec to ONT
    - Tested speed using FIOS, DSLReports and other testing methods, all producing same result
    I'm fairly sure this is network based. Does anyone see similiar issue. I am based in Westchester NY.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    In general, you probably need to optimize
    But try to do the following, and send us the info so we can pour over it
    Test on a hardwired machine only
    Test at http://speedtest.verizon.net only

  • BB upload speed affecting SureSignal box

    I don't know if anyone can help me; we've recently began having problems with our Vodafone SureSignal box which are caused by the suddenly low upload speed on our BB, through our home hub? It started when we had trouble with a phone line outside our house and we've also purchased (through BT) a BB booster thing to attach to the line. We're at our wits end as we live in the middle of nowhere and the SureSignal is our lifeline for signal! Two of the family work from home and this is severely affecting their businesses......

    My download speed is around 36M and my upload speed on speed tests either fails to connect or I get around 0.5M. Pinging google leads to frequent none responses, probably on average 1 in ever 8 pings fails.
    I have rebooted the router, reset the router to factory settings and disconnected all devices apart from 1 clean CentOS desktop pc to do the speed test and still get the same results. Could someone please give me details so I can get this investigated properly and soon as it is effecting my work.

    Still experiencing unusable upload speeds, can someone please help me with this? Below is todays test.

  • What is the reason behind upload speeds lower than...

    Would anyone be able to explain it?

    Hi Jamesey162,
    There is no reason as such. Different providers have different packages. It just depends on what package your on.
    E.g, Infinity option 2 gives 20mb upload speed but infinity option 1 only gives up to 9.5mb upload speed.
    It basically varies with providers.
    Hope this helps,
    Dominic.

    Try to rule out the HomeHub.
    First, power it off and on again (NOT the white modem) and see if that helps.
    Then try a direct connection from the computer to the modem: a bit of a faffle I am afraid.
    - connect from the modem LAN1 (that is usually connected to the HomeHub/router), to the standard ethernet port on the PC/Mac (that is also usually connected to the router.) So the HomeHub is out of the picture.
    - Make a pppoe connection. On a PC it will be something like
    - 'network and Sharing Centre',
    - 'Set up a new connection',
    - 'Connect to the Internet, set up a broadband or dial-up connection'
    - 'Broadband PPPoE'
    - Then enter username '[email protected]' and password 'bt'.
    Detail may vary a little between different version of windows, and of course even more different on Mac or Linux.
    Repeat your speed tests and see how they go.
    That will help check out if the HomeHub is the problem.
    ~~~~
    Also do a test with firewall and antivirus turned (temporarily) off.
    They can cause off speed problems.
  • Solution to low download/upload speed on Linksys E900
    I lost almost 2 days and nights searching to solve this problem. I pay for a 50 Mbps connection using PPPoE. When i put the cable directly into the computer, i could reach speeds of 7.5 - 8.5 MBps download within the network. However, when plugged in the router, on LAN from router i would barely get 4.7 MBps and on wi-fi about 4. Not to moention that on www.speedtest.net i would have less then 30 Mbps upload speed, and when i put the cable directly into computer, i would get speeds aroung 70Mbps. The problem is not that this router cant handle PPPoE or such thing (explanation read on somewhere on this forum) or that the router cant handle those speeds or some another stupid (defending Linksys) explanation. The problem lies within the firmware of this router. I also tried the LiveSupport but to no avail, reflashing with the same version of flash, getting the same speeds. Lost one hour there. The solution is to upgrade to Tomato custom firmware from Shibby. Get the E900 version from here http://tomato.groov.pl/download/K26RT-N/build5x-115-EN/Linksys%20E-series/, and flash it from Administration>>Upgrade Firmware. Before and after the flash, do the so called 30-30-30 reset (just check for it on youtube). I configured the wireless on 40Mhz Channel Width and Short Preamble. And that's it. Now i get 7.5 - 8.5 MBps speeds from LAN router, and on wi fi i got speeds up to 7MB. Thats aproximately 40% gains in terms of speeds, so it definitely worths it. Plus you get some pretty options, especially on QoS. Linksys should spend more time offering a better support for firmware, rather then selling devices that the user cant take full advantage of their hardware properties. I hope this post helps everybody who got this problem
    Up higher in that post is some speed test results regarding a wireless N comparison between the TP-Link and EA3500. At those speeds I don't think the internet connection is the bottle neck. How do those wireless speed compare to your router Tomato speeds?
    Please remember to Kudo those that help you.
