PS3 Voltage Question

So I just got a new PS3, The Uncharted 3 Bundle. I was wondering if anyone knows whether it would work with a voltage of 220V. That is outside USA and Canada. Any info would be much appreciated.

If you're getting normal network access through tethering, I'm not sure why this would not work.

  • Voltage question for Inspire 5200 5.1 Speakers

Hi, I'm new to the forum, so I'm not sure if this question has been answered in the past, but...
I just moved back States-side after living in Pakistan for about 6 months, and I brought my Pakistan-bought Inspire 5200 speakers. I don't know if I should buy a voltage converter or whatever.
On the AC adaptor, it says "PRL. :230V~50Hz 320 mA... SEC. : 2V ~ 4.2A". I read up a little on this stuff, and, unless I'm mistaken, in Pakistan, the voltage is 220V and 50Hz, while in the US, its 110V and 60Hz.
Is it safe to use the speakers here WITHOUT a voltage converter or a step-down transformer?
If it isn't safe, then what specific things do I need to pick up from Radioshack to make sure my speakers work and don't short-circuit or fry?
    Thanks.

If you use the right step down transformer than it's perfectly safe. The problem is, step down transformer worsen the sound a lot unless you use the very expensi've one. But if you can't hear the different than it's good then, trust your own ear anyway. I think the best way is to change the adaptor.

  • K9n platinum voltage question

    Hello everyone,
I'm new to the boards and I hope someone can help me out.
Let me throw my specs out first:
    mobo: msi k9n platinum 1.0 (bios 1.5)  (ms-7250-20)
cpu:   opteron 1212  (voltage should be 1.3/1.35)
    ram:   ocz 6400 platinum (5,5,5,15 2t) (2.1v)
    gfx:    evga 7800gt
    ps:     sunbeamtech 550w(+3.3v=28A, +5v=36A,+12v1=20A,+12v2=18A(30A/35*A))
This board does have the shut down problems, but I have done the work arounds and fixed 98% of them(memory timings were the most important to fix these)
My question is how do I set the volage for the cpu? I know go into the cell menu->cpu freq config->and change the voltage...but when I set it to 1.3~1.35, the cpu voltage in the H/W monitor & on the main cell menu page will show a .28 voltage increase. My cpu temps are also through the roof (35 idle/ 68+ load).
Right now I have my cpu voltage set at 1.25 and it seems mostly stable, but the cpu Vcore shows 1.528v in H/W monitor, and cell menu.
Also if I keep my voltage at 1.2 my temps are very low (20 idle/ 38 load)
When I use cpu-z it shows the voltage that I actually set.
Anyone have an answer or fix?
Thanks for any and all replies.

leave CPU vid to Auto, you no need to change CPU vcore. voltage moving -/+ 0.05 is normal.
take care about CPU temp... your CPU is overheating and become instable, 68C+ is very high... re seat CPU ensure its mounted well, aplly new thermal paste, but do not put too much!! here are few wrong examples:
your under load temp should not exceed 55C. you may need to get better CPU cooler if no change.

  • Sony LED TV w/Internet Features plus PS3, setup question (wireless vs. hardwire)

I connected a CAT6 cable from my Verizon router to the back of my TV for movie streaming etc, and was really amazed at how fast and consistent the hardwire connection was. I currently have my PS3 connected via wireless and although it does work, it's a bit slower and less reliable. My question is, can I use the same CAT6 Ethernet cable and split it at the end one side to the TV and one side to the PS3 so I can enjoy a more reliable connection when media streaming, etc.? I know I can get a second Ethernet cable but was wondering if it could be done with only one just so I don't have to worry about rewiring, etc.
One of my main goals is to achieve a faster connection on the PS3 so streaming sites give me a better quality picture. I played the same movie from Netflix via PS3 and Sony TV and the hardwire connection did give me better picture quality.
    Thanks so much in advanced.

Buy a 4 port switch and place it at your tv and plug the existing cat six into the switch. Depending on the switch you purchase, you can have as many ports as you wish. I have a 16port 10/100 and a 5 port gigabit switch connected to my router.
    2 choices.
    1. A second cable from the Verizon router
    2. Install an Ethernet switch at your TV.

  • New PS3 Slim Question

I just purchased a New 160GB PS3 from Best buy today. I looked at the all the boxes and they was a simple piece of tape on them instead of the circular seal on most ps3's and the controller on the inside was not wrapped in anything. It doesn't seem to have any damage on the system or controller but do you think its possible they put refurbished systems in there and tried to sell them for new? Since the there was no usual tape seal and the controller was not wrapped I am thinking about taking it back and buying it elsewhere.
    Any ideas?

Well, simplest way is to hook it up and see if it asks you to do setup.

  • P67-gd65 sata and voltage question

For starters, this board is updated to the newest bios I found in the download section. The sata question is that, no matter if I use IDE or AHCI, I can only see my SDD and HDD if I have them plugged in to the white ports. The normal black ports don't show anything.
The second thing is about voltage. Is there any way to stop my voltage from rising during heavy CPU usage? It's really annoying to set it at 1.33v and then it goes up to 1.37v. I have everything manually set in the bios and the vdroop is on low. Is there anything else i'm missing? Thanks.
Edit: Turbo Boost and EIST are also off as well.

As mentioned, as long as it doesn't fluctuate or exceed past 1.400v's, it should never be a problem as far as component lifespan & longeveity are concerned. It may be best to open a ticket with MSI Tech Support & ask them about why the voltage reacts as it does & is set up that way. http://support.msi.com/
    Quote
My SSD and HDD were in SATA 2 on the old motherboard, now this one will only work on SATA 3.
I would be suspicious of the Intel SATA II Controller being faulty within the chipset. Especially if no type of device, HDD or ODD works in those ports. Another thing to ask Tech Support about.
As a side note, it gets confusing sometimes when seeing the nomenclature SATA 2 & 3, as these are regarded as SATA connection ports on a mainboard.

  • X58 pro-e voltage question

    hello just got a x58 pro-e mobo
what to ask a few questions first b4 i start playing around what would you recomment max voltage for the following
    CPU PLL?
    QPI Voltage?
    NB Voltage?
    ICH Voltage?
atm im at 20x205 4,1ghz , qpi link 3698, uncore 3200, mems running at 1644 6-7-6-18 1N wanted to push the mems to 2000mhz but uncore and qpi would be in the 1:1 ratio so i was wondering if upping the voltage would make it stable so wanted to ask about max voltage first so i can play with it before i start lowering it to find stable voltage thanks

Since component specs change or are updated with new revisions from time to time, it would be best to look up each components current data sheet for the latest information on max. voltages.

  • FX5500-TD256 Voltage question

I just ordered a FX5500-TD256 and then noticed that my motherboard will onlt support a 1.1 Volt AGP card. Apparently it will damage the mobo if I use a higher voltage card. Can anyone tell me if the FX5500-TD256 is a 1.1 V card or not? I haven't been able to find any help elsewhere.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Actually, it's for a friend's computer, so I don't know the motherboard. However, I did some online research and found out that some of AGP's specifications were updated within the last couple years (the system was built in December of 2005) so that AGP 8x cards won't fit into a 4x slot anymore. So basically, as long as it's a new card, it simply won't fit unless the mobo can support it.
So to answer my own question: yes, the card works with the mobo. It already fired up and runs smoothly.
The only problem now is that it wasn't the card that needed to be replaced in the first place... argh    It turns out that the LCD monitor that he uses crapped out. Fortunately it's still under warranty and he's working on replacing it now.

  • X220 - voltage question

    Hi,
I would like to ask you a question about battery woltage, because I am unhappy with my X220's battery life. I looked into power manager and found out, that 6-cell (maybe others too) is designed to run in 11.10 V, but mine runs often in 12.15 V. I am not pro in these things, but - is it normal, that it runs in different than designed values?
Many thanks and have a nice day
    Skrble

    Hi Skrble,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
The design voltage is the minimum voltage the battery should be charged. Jin Li had already explained in this thread the difference between actual voltage and design voltage displayed in the power manager.
    Best regards,
    Mithun.

  • FX5700-VT2DR256 Voltage Question

I am interested in purchasing the MSI FX5700-VT2DR256 video
card, but my motherboard's (Asus P4P800-VM) AGP 8X slot
only supports 0.8v/1.5v rated video cards. I can't seem to
find the volt rating for the FX5700-VT2DR256 anywhere in
the card's online description/specifications. Could you
please tell me what the card's volt rating is for each mode?
If I'm reading my manual correctly, my motherboard supports 8X cards @ 0.8v and 4X cards @ 1.5v.  It warns specifically against using 3.3v cards.  Is 3.3v an older standard of card power useage?

    Deathstalker,
So when Asus tells me to make sure I don't plug a 3.3v AGP 4X video card into my P4P800-VM (mATX), they have no idea what they're talking about?  I'm playing better safe than sorry here.  My problem is that I haven't been able to find voltage info (general or specific) on anybody's video cards.
    Assaf,
I guess I'm looking in all the wrong places to learn about this stuff.  (Perhaps I should try my local library.)  Everyone seems to assume that people know what all these terms like VIVO (video in, video out?) mean, but I haven't been able to find a single place that says what that abbreviation means.  (I'm not complaining about your help, I'm just tired of not being able to quickly look up terms or have detailed questions answered. I have no doubt that you'll tell me what VIVO specifically stands for.  Then my mind says, "Great, so I've got VIVO!  Will that accomplish what I'm trying to do?  Will it do so optimally, in the best way I can afford?")
I've personally never worked with video capturing before.  I've done a lot of reading online, and checked out a lot of reviews, but there are still big holes in my knowledge and my experience with PC video capturing and editing is zero.  (I have a degree in Broadcast Media Production, so I'm no stranger to working with video.  I've simply fallen behind the times.  Now I'm really feeling my age.)
I'm just afraid that I'm going to get my parts and then realise that one of the things I wanted to do is not supported by my hardware/software combination, or that it won't meet with my expectations.
I'm working with a lot of considerations:
My chose case was the Antec Aria which leaves me with 1 x AGP 8X and 2 x PCI slots (my third PCI slot contains a vented fan).  I love the case, but I need to choose my video card and capture hardware wisely.
I should have made my complete needs clear beforehand.  Basically, you're saying that if I get the FX5900XT-VTD, a Firewire card, and a TV tuner (say the TV@nywhere Master) that I'll be set for
    - analog to digital video capture
    - TV capture
    - DV capture and editing
    - hardware encoding/decoding (I think this would be better than software, right?)
provided that I have the right software?  Sorry for going way beyond the scope of my original question here.

  • Dv7 charger voltage question

Just got a new HP Pavilion dv7-6b55dx and checked power supply adaptor to see if adaptors from my old HP Pavilion dv9930us would work.
First thing I noticed is the plug ends differ between the old and new adaptors.
I then found that the output of the adaptor for the older laptop is 19 volt / 4.74 amp / 90 watt, whereas the output of the adaptor for the new laptop is 18.5 volt / 3.5 amp / 65 watt.
    QUESTION:
Is the output voltage/amperage difference between the older adaptor and the new laptop an issue?
Would the old adaptor work on the new laptop - IF a dongle to adapt the old adaptor plug end to the new laptop receiver?

    Hi,
Sorry I don't know but I know on the market today there are few changers which can be used for many machines from different vendors such as this one. It has many different tips.

  • Msi 670 pe/oc and afterburner core voltage questions..

So recently I've been attempting to push my card further. From what I'm hearing these cards are locked with voltage. Max are anywhere from 1.175 - 1.215. I don't remember flashing my bios. So I tried pushing my card to 1202 which is the max I can get without adjusting msi voltage. Also I use heaven to test stability. I limit my frames to 63 since that is what I play bf3 at and it's my most demanding game. With 1202 clock even up to 1228 I can complete one run without crashing and stock voltage.
So I said what the hell I'll increase powerlimit to 114% and increase core voltage to +30( I don't even know how much this adds because there isn't a way to monitor... If anyone has an idea I'm all ears). What do you know to my surprise I was able to complete one benchmark run in heaven at 1254 without crashing. I tried 1254 without adjusting voltage and it crashed and I had to restart. Added +30 and it didn't crash. Also aux voltage was +30 maxed and still crashed without adding core voltage. So are these voltages really locked like Nvidia wanted? Or is there a problem with heaven benchmark.
Also my setting are 4xaa( I use 2x in bf3 with low post processing) !680x1050( native) resolution, tessellation is normal, af x 16. I've also heard about flashing with unlocked bios but as of now I don't want to try that.
My current gpu bios is 80.04.31.00.46(P2004-0005). Anyone know the values for this bios or where I can look it up? I'm also on the beta 310.71 drivers since the whql 310.71 drivers for some reason limited my oc.
Thanks for anyone who can help answer these questions.

A locked card will always max out at 1.175v no matter what is set. Using Afterbuner 2.2.4 possibly also later (2.2.5 and 2.3.0 are said to be not locked but I doubt that) will also max out at 1.175v no matter the vbios. Since the 670PE does not allow to monitor voltage with software it is hard to tell if overvoltage past 1.175v works or not. Could be progress is caused due to increasing aux voltage while gpu stays at 1.175v max. An unlocked card would do 1.2125v max.
It would require an unlocked mod bios for the unlocked overvoltage. There is a thread on overclock.net about unlocked GTX6xx vbios versions. There you could get an unlocked bios for GTX670 PE: http://www.overclock.net/t/1289489/gtx-680-670-unlocked-voltage-bios/510#post_17888629
So far nobody in the forum has tested that and using would be at your very own risk (as always when using mod bios).

  • P6N SLi platinum, Voltage questions for oc to 3Ghz

    Hello dear forumusers,
I have recently overclocked my cpu by a little (2.76 ghz instead of 2.67Ghz) however, my memory is a little bit slower because its voltage is on auto and I cannot get it on manual .
I can set the timings and speed ( 667Mhz) but it runs on 638Mhz, so I need to adjust the voltage but as said I cannot change it
Is this resolvable by updating to another bios or is it just impossible?
    Bios is v1.0
Edit, found already, page up page down does the trick

I've been experimenting a bit and now reached 2.98 Ghz with stock cooler, idle @ 25C, loaded @ 55C
The fsb:dram is 9:8 and mem is now running at 662Mhz, was 638 Mhz????
I cannot set the divider myself unfortunately, or me don't now how to (see specs for info)
One more question( you can put this post in the overclock forum if you like) I want to reach 3Ghz as a max, but as soon as I set fsb on 1500(now 1490) it will boot but within 10 to 30 min orthos will stop.
What do I have to do to get it stable, my mem is running on 1.85V as described by kingston and I raised the NB by .025V, now 1.275V and on 2980Mhz it's rocksolid, no errrors after 5 hours of orthos.
Do i have to raise the Vcore or something else, any comment is welkom
    Thanks in advance

  • Ps3 format question, and more..thanks

hi guys, i transferred a hd movie from my sony camera to my ps3 it plays great, when i copyed the movie from my ps3 to a external hdd, to edit with imov09, it wont play. the file is there, any ideas>
also i took a clip of it and converted it to mp4, and another to quick time, they played ok, however when i dragged across to edit in movie 09 ,it wont allow them in to be edited ?
where am i going wrong? any help would be great.
    thank you.

Here are ones that appleman posted -- they will work for imovie9 just use export quicktime movie
I did some experimentation based on a post by Dan Hawkins in the "Pro" forums. I experimented with his settings using the Quicktime Export option in iMovie 08 and they worked. His post is below.
    ============================================================
    from Dan Hawkins:
I am using a PS3 to preview HD video edited in FCE-3.5.1HD with the following QT-PRO export settings:
    1) export from FCE using Quicktime conversion
    2) select format MPEG-4
    3) select options:
    a) under file format select MP4 (not MP4 ISMA)
    b) under video tab select H.264
data rate in the range of about 10000 to 18000 kbits/sec depending on what filesize/quality you are shooting for
    image size---select 1280X720HD or 1920X1080HD
frame rate---select 29.97 or "current" if already on a editing timeline of that type
key frame---select either automatic or every 24 frames
video options---select "MAIN" profile and single pass encoding (when I use "MULTI-PASS" encoding I get a "FILE UNREADABLE" error message on my PS3)
    c) under audio tab select default AAC-LC
    d) under streaming tab select default "not enabled"
I transfer the resulting high definition .MP4 file to the PS3 by one of the following methods:
    ethernet network connection
    iPod/thumb drive
    SD-card
I have to hit the "alternate menu" under the PS3 video section and select "display all files" to see the video file and then save it to the local PS3 HDD (some dumb programming there!).
I have heard there might be an upper limit of 4Gb on the file size (if so, another dumb move), but have not come across that limitation yet (I just got the PS3 about a week ago and am working through some of the same issues you seem to be struggling with).
I think that some of the confusion regarding the PS3 relative to playing back HD from regular DVD-R is that the PS3 will hardware decode a properly encoded .MP4 HD video file from whatever media it is presented on and as such does not require a HD "authoring" container with menus and such. These so called "HD authoring tools" are currently in a pretty confused state at the moment and are the source of much incompatibility with many HD playback devices, but the PS3 bypasses all of that and plays the file directly through hardware decoding.
