PS3 Wireless Connection is deathly slow (if it works at all..)

I bought a PS3 (fat 40GB version) today and have been trying to set it up, connect it to wifi, etc. so that I can download the games I've paid for using the Playstation Store on the PC. However, the connection is ridiculously slow.
I'm with Telstra and using a Technicolor TG797 modem. I have a few laptops connected, all getting a DL speed of 6mbps and upload of 500kbps.
I've tried port forwarding, enabling and disabling uPNP, entering 6 or 7 different DNS servers etc., nothing works so far. I had to try five or six times just to get it to log in to the PSN (it kept saying connection timed out or "DNS error" (no matter which DNS I had entered) and now it's been downloading the 54MB PS Store app for more than an hour, creeping up 1% every minute or so. The Internet settings speed test said I was getting a 3.5mbps connection, so the slowness is just ridiculous.
Anyone got any other suggestions as to how I can fix it?

The PS3 has a really outdated and slow wireless G nework so it's not that fast to start with,I would strongly recommend a wired connection. If you can't go wired because of distance to your router have a look online for power line network adaptors AKA homeplugs they give you the next best thing to a wired connection and certainly better than wireless.
Coupled with a Technicolor router formerly known as Thomson and Inventel they are well known for poor performance and reliability you will struggle to get a half decent speed over wireless.
Even my fairly decent speeds wireless v wired is a night and day difference.
Wired.
Wireless.

  • Guestconnect wireless connection is dead slow

After installing Certificate on NGS , Guestconnect wireless connection is dead slow. (takes more than 1 minute to load Splash page ,which is stalled on NGS)
We have another Anchore controller with NGS in DR site. Whenever we pointing WLC to DR Anchor controller ,no issue.
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sri

The certificate shouldn't cause this, unless there is an issue getting to the Internet to validate the certificate.
It could still be a duplex issue between the NGS and the Internet connection at the non-DR site.

I get wireless connection but my internet does not work on my ipad 2

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Wireless connections get very slow

Hi, I'm having a nightmare lately with my wireless connections, it's not the network I'm connecting to as I've checked that with other machines, it's a problem with the wireless card in my machine.
For a while it works OK, then it just slows right down, the only way to get it back upto speed is by rebooting. Anyone know of a solution?

Not sure if this will help but I was experiencing a similar issue (at least the symptoms) on my MacBook. Got a new router and setup it up as the previous one was (same SSID, WEP key, etc). For some reason the MacBook did not like the WEP implementation on this router and it would get slower and slower until no more network access. Rebooting would fix.
As soon as I changed the router to use WPA2 (or something like that) the issues were gone. Now it just works.
Note that from all other machines, NO issues were happening. Just on the MacBook.
After changing the encryption to use the newer thing, all is good now.
I would try changing that and/or playing with settings like channel, etc.

  • AEBS & PS3 wireless connection

Just brought a PS3 but having problems with wireless connectivity. PS3 recognizes the airport but will not connect. The AEBS is about 4 yrs old. I have 128 bit WEP and have tried putting in the passwords without success. Can't seem to get past the SSID on the PS3 screen. Tried the PS forum and have looked through Apple discussions without success. Can't directly connect airport and don't want to buy another router if I don't have to.
    Any suggestions out there?

  • HP Pavilion 23-p030na All-in-One Desktop PC - Wireless Connected - But Incredibly Slow

It's just under a year since i bought my  Pavilion 23-p030na and after much troubleshooting with HP, I've only now managed to actually get connected using the internal wireless card.  Prior to this i was forced to use a N wireless Dongle (Netgear) It completely refused to connect to my Virgin Superhub and I was advised to try another router by HP. Having invested in a router that cost shy of £200, I had high hopes.   Well, at least it connected using the 5g option on the NETGEAR R8000-100UKS R8000 Nighthawk X6 - AC3200 Tri-Band WiFi Wireless router.  But can I browse? Well no.  On occasion it lets me see a page for around 20 seconds and then it fails. I'm still connected wirelessly though - that's not the issue.  It takes (when it chooses to work) around 20 seconds to go to Google's Homepage.  It's not the router - all other devices work fine with the router as does this PC when I plug the dongle back in. HP though have the notion that because it actually connects, there is no issue.  That's not how I see it, nor I expect anyone else. I previously worked on Broadband Tech and have tried - along with various HP 'Tech' every trick in the book. None of them work. At what point will HP actually accept that their wireless card is no good?  'Cause I am all out of ideas now. And yes, I HAVE put the PC back to factory settings on several occasions and it makes not a jot of difference. And YES I've had HP remotely access and reinstall the Drivers and you name it I've done it. If only SOMEONE from HP would say "Do you know, I think your Wireless Card is broke" then we could move on.

    Hi
Can you explain me how can i install the new bluetooth driver on mi computer ,i unistall the other bluetooth device and install the new one( sp67447)and it says that there is another version of Broadcom bluetooth install and that it cant continue the installation ,can you please explain if possible step by step how to unistall the old bluetooth driver and then how to install the new one

  • Wireless Connection Sometimes Requires A Reboot To Work

I have had this going on for about two months. My wireless connection will work fine for a while and then suddenly slow down and eventually drop out completely. A reboot is the only thing that brings it back, but the cycle always starts over again. I've posted a few logs here, but if there is something more someone needs please let me know. The Arch system is the only device on my network that is experiencing this issue. I've also tried adding options ath9k nohwcrypt=1 to /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf. I thought this had worked until today when I booted up and eventually had the same issue. I am running the x86_x64 variant of Arch with kernel  3.18.4-1-ARCH #1. The position of all my equipment remains unchanged so I'm guessing either the card is dying or I have a bug. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

you don't need to reboot go into the GTTY prompt ( ie ctl alt F2 - F7 ) then systemctl STOP ( xx current desktop manager ie lightdm kdm gdm etc ) an it will kill all current processes run wifi-menu as root or sudo with normal user an then reestablish connection that way or look on the arch wiki for NETCTL an read that or search google

  • Wireless connection between computer and HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer.

I just bought an HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer - H711a.  I want to have a wireless connection between my computer and my printer in order to place the printer in a different room. The instructions say that I need to give the name of my wireless network. Do they mean that I need a wireless internet connection? I absolutely don't want to go wireless on the internet. How do I go about this?

Replacing your wireless router now try.

  • PS3 Wireless Connection Problems: DNS error

I have a WRK54G wireless router, and I had my PS3 hooked up to it wirelessly, working fine, last night. Now, all of a sudden, there's a "DNS error" whenever I try to connect it. It can get the IP address fine, but it just can't actually connect to the internet. Help?

I enabled the DMZ, too, btw, and I set the adress to 192.168.1.20, and that's what I put in as the IP adress when I'm trying to hook the PS3 up with the internet... is that what I should be doing?

  • No wireless connection - can't get it to work on Satellite Pro M40

Hi First Post So hope I get it right I have Sat Pro M40 A Desktop connected to Router via Ethernet Cable Laptop used in a different room with a wireless internet connection I guess this means I had a wireless network? Re-installed Win XP and Service Pack 2 as I couldn't find Toshiba Rescue Disc Now I have no wireless or sounhd on laptop Something is obviously missing Can't remember what I am meant to do Excuse ignorance but any help would be welcome Thanks I am using the ethernet cable temporarily to get internet access on Sat Pro Thanks Derek

    Hello Derek
If some hardware components in device manager are not preinstalled properly please visit Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads.
There you will find all necessary drivers (WLAN and sound driver). When the WLAN card is properly installed you will be able to configure WLAN connection.

  • IPod Touch 2G wouldn't connect to iTunes, now won't work at all.

After updating my iTunes to iTunes 10 and upgrading to iOS 4, my iTunes wouldn't recognize my iPod. I tried to put it in recovery mode in order to restore it, but whenever I go to restore it, it stops part way through with some random error. So now I have an essentially useless iPod. How can I make this work again?!

I have a 2 g nano and the only way I can get itunes to see it is to connect it to my pc, have iTunes open, and then restart the nano. On the touch you'd do this by pressing your Home & Sleep buttons both for about 10 secs.
Try that or [Unable to update or restore|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808] and see if it works. You will still need to restore it but maybe it will complete it this way.

  • Java is loading slow or not working at all -- how can I fix it?

    Hi there
I seem to be having problems using the Java on my iMac. When I and open Safari and go to a chat-room that I have went to for years
    http://chat.parachat.com/chat/login.html
My Java takes so long to load. This time it took about 15 minuets to load into the chat-room. But other times, Safari has just become none-responsibe and I have had to "force quit" Safari.
Can someone just check this for me please and see if other people are having the same issue with their Safari and Java when they try to go in the chat-room. Also can someone please tell me how to solve this problem.
I have reset Java, reset Safari, deleted all the Caches and everything I can think of and I am still having the same problem. If it was on Windows I would just reinstall Java -- Can I do that on Mac (I don't know) and if I can how can I do it, or is there another way to solve the problem: Or is it just something I have to live with.
    Thanks
    Jason
    PS:
Sorry about posting this here but I couldn't find a Java forum anywhere, so I thought this forum was the closest

Parachat must have made a fix. A few months ago, Parachat was almost unusable on my MacBook 13". Took very long to load in Safari, if at all.
Now, it runs very quickly on my new MacBook Air 11".
Our tech group asked Parachat to fix this. Now all is fine.
Is it working for anyone else now?
    Your replies are appreciated!

  • Very Slow Wireless Connection

I bought a while ago a WRT54G V6.0 and although the wired connection works pretty well, the wireless connection is very slow, I have trouble accessing web pages but once it enters a site i can navigate through it without a problem, but when I go to another website I struggle to enter. I have tried updating the router several times, changing the transmission channel and it seems nothing works. could someone please help?

try changing the MTU size on the router ui in the following order .... 1492 , 1452 , 1365 ... check whether it makes any difference ...

  • 1415 fnw printer wireless connection extremely slow or not working with OS X, works with windows

The wireless connection to the printer is either extremely slow or not working at all on OS X Yosemite.  It shows up in the list of printers in Bonjour in Safari, and I can connect to parts of the web interface if I wait a very long time.  However, I cannot add the printer as a new printer in System Preferences even though the printer shows up.
I have upgraded to the latest firmware.  The WiFi indicator on the printer is on, "green", and it has a reserved IP showing up in my router (ComCast).  It seems that Windows machines can printer to the printer wirelessly without a problem.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hello @sscotti,
I would like to assist you today with installing your wireless HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Printer on your Mac OS X 10.10 Computer. Now you indicate in your post that this printer works fine with Windows computers, and you are able to 'see' the Bonjour printer on your Mac. Therefore, the issue that you are experiencing is not network related. Rather, I do believe that you are experiencing a driver conflict on your Mac OS X 10.10 computer. Can I please have you run the steps below to resolve this issue.
Step 1: Uninstall Drivers and Software:
First, I'm going to have you 'clean up' your Mac OS X 10.10 computer to verify that any trace of your Laserjet printer is gone so we have a nice clean slate to work with. Please click here and when the website opens select the drop down for 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8, and OS X v10.9' as the steps are the same for Mac OS X 10.10. Run the appropriate uninstall steps for the method in which you originally tried to install your printer: Apple Updates, or the HP Driver download.
Once the uninstall is complete, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    Go to the Utilities Folder
    Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
    Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
Step 3: Check for Apple Updates:
    Go to Apple
    Select System Preferences
    Select Software Update
    Click Update Now
    Install your available updates
    Restart your computer
Step 4: Reinstall your Software and Drivers:
Please click here to download the appropriate Mac OS X 10.10 drivers for your HP Laserjet printer.
Once the website opens select the 'download' button on the top left
Once the download has completed, please follow the onscreen steps to reinstall your printer.
Once the reinstall is complete, test the print and scan functions to ensure that your printer is functioning as per normal.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Should you still be experiencing issues there are additional steps I can have you run through. I look forward to hearing from you. Good luck!

  • My wireless connection is slow

I've had my new apple for only a week or so, and the wireless connection is really slow, even when it shows it at full strength. My four year old HP laptop downloads files just as fast or faster than my apple and it shows that it's connection is very weak (almost not there). Any ideas why this would be?

Having read through the forums - and had problems on my machine - I think there are three different problems to do with Wireless on the new Intel Macs.
    1) Poor Bluetooth reception (Mac Pro only)
a handful of people seem to have the wrong antenna wire connected to the bluetooth module in the Mac Pro.
    2) Failure to auto-connect to a base station. Following Sleep etc.
OS X maintains a list of preferred WiFi base stations to auto-connect to. Something is broken with this feature, so the Mac fails to automatically re-connect. This can be corrected by removing the name and re-adding. (A more radical form of this solution seems to be deleting the prefs file from the system)
    3) Slow or very slow wifi connection speed. This seems to be affecting iMacs and Mac Pros fitted with the very new Draft 802.11N wifi boards made by
Broadcom. BCM94321MC. Which shows up in System Profiler as (0x14E4,0x87)
Macs with this problem show a number of issues:
    * Inconsistent ping times even to a local machine.
    * Low signal strengh indicator (even when next to the the transmitter). In my case I see 3 out of 4 bars in the menu indicator. And 5 out of 15 bars in Internet Connect.
    * Throughput that never gets better than 460Kbytes per second (3.6mbits) Note that this might be faster than your internet connection, and you might find this speed acceptible or not notice the problem. However the card should be able to deliver 54-27 Megabits across a local network - almost ten times the speed it manages at best.
I think this last problem could be a manufacturing defect, or something wrong with the firmware on the card. The card behaves identically when running under Windows. Which rules out the driver. Under Windows the signal strength appears full - but the throughput is still poor.
I am hoping a firmware update will resolve this issue. But if you need fast wireless in a hurry, a Wireless-Ethernet Bridge plugged into your ethernet port might be your best option.
I'd like to hear from anyone who has one of these cards and is getting more than 10megabits through it.
