PS3 wireless help

I currently get a very good speed up in the office (37mbps / 12ms ping) but my wireless connection to my PS3 isnt so good.
I do not use smart wireless as I found this caused drop-outs when playing online.
I alternate between channel 1 and 11 and sometimes I get up to 6mbps but most often around 1/2 mbps.
Any ways I can improve this?
thanks

  • Airport, Airport Express, iPhone & PS3 wireless network will this work?

Hi I need help with the above,
I've got an iMac 15" G4 800Mhz, it is fitted with a standard airport card, the G4 is connected to the internet via ethernet to a Zyxel P-600 Series ADSL modem. I have also been streaming itunes (using airtunes) to a seperate hi-fi amp in another room using an Airport Express Base Station, THIS ALL WORKS.
I have since bought an iPhone and a Playstaion3 (PS3) and want this all to work together but does not. It would seem that the Airport Express Base Station is the dominant part of this network and I want to change this priority. No matter how far I delve I cannot find the answer. Basically I want the following setup:
iMac G4 (with Airport Card) that is connected to the internet via ethernet to be the 'main Base Station' (not the Airport Express as is currently), I then want to continue streaming Airtunes to the Airport Express and also use this device as a booster for the wireless network. The reason for the new wireless setup is to enable the iPhone to connect to the Internet (the iphone currently sees the network but cannot connect to the internet because the Airport Express is NOT connected to the ADSL Modem), I also want the PS3 to connect to this network.
Am I asking too much of the Airport Card (The one in the G4)? or should I simply buy the new Airport Extreme Base Station and start again?
Any help would really be appreciated, Paul

sorry if i sound stupid but does that mean that if i'm using the AX to stream music (using Airtunes) I cannot simultaneously use it as a wi-fi extender?
    That situation is possible.
If so can I set up the AX to just stream music and then use an Airport Extreme Base Station hard wired to the ADSL Modem and the iMAc and connect the iPhone and PS3 to the internet via the AEBS wi-fi network. Essentially creating one wi-fi network for iPhone/ PS3 wireless connection and a seperate Airtunes network for wireless music streaming, or am I just dreaming, cheers for your help.
Sure you can do that. But then you will have to decide if you want to stream music OR you want to be on the internet. Your computers can't connect to both at the same time.
You probably want to do the above, but configure your AX to join the wireless network provided by the AEBS. Then you will only have a single wireless network and you can stream music, print, and surf the internet all at the same time.

  • PS3 Ports Help

I just bought an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station, now when i connect the ps3 wirelessly. It lags alot. I have to forward my ports on it. I have the numbers from Sony. Now in the Airport Utility I don't know where to put these numbers, because there is private and public TCP and UDP spots.
    UDP Ports 3478,3479,3658
    and 10070
    TCP Ports 80,443,5223
    and 10070-10080

Well thanks for the understanding so far. But I still need a bit more help. I was able to put the ports in but the ps3 is still slow. I am wondering if I put them in a wrong way. this is how I have it.
    Public UDP Ports: 3478,3479,3658 10070
    Public TCP Ports: 80,443,5223 10070-10080
    Private IP Address: 10.0.1.199
    Private UDP Ports: 3478,3479,3658 10070
    Private TCP Ports: 80,443,5223 10070-10080
Having it like this, I am able to click on the "Continue" Button. So I figured I did it properly. The problem is still the same. Slow online gaming. My internet is Cable 10mb/sec Speed. Which is fairly good. So there should be no reason for this. I am hoping I am just missing something, because I don't want to take my AEBS back to the store. I really like it. So it would be much appreciated if someone could help me with this problem. Thanks.

  • PS3 Wireless

I am really confused why i keep lagging on ps3 wireless for the past couple of weeks, before that it was fine. Laptop wireless is fine, getting speed very close to ip profile. PS3 on the speed test i can get about 14MB which is much more than enough for gaming, but i lag! Wired then i do not get lag. I am currently playing while using a bridged connection via my lapop, so my ps3 uses the internet coming to my laptop via connecting ethernet between my laptop and ps3 and then i also dont lag. I have tried multiply HH3's. Anyone have any idead what the problem is?
I have ordered homeplugs now but still want to know the problem

Download throughput doesent have much to do with lag, its your ping or latency that causes that.
I cant offer a solution, but you could try testing the ps3 wirelessly nearer to the HH if possible, even better if you can line of sight it without walls or obstruction. If the lag goes then the location is your problem.
Using the bridge method works because the wireless chip in the laptop is probaly better/ has better drivers.
Can you do ping test from the ps3 and its browser? that would tell you if your latency is good or bad.
Best BT india advice i have seen yet on these forums:
Q: Someone has hacked my wireless network
A: Try plugging router into your test socket.

I just got a linksys wrt160n v2 and ive been trying to connect it with my ps3 but when i do the connection test it says that their is a dns error and ive typed in a million different things and nothing seems to work. i've done that whole thing where you go to run then type in cmd and then type ipconfig/all and ive taken all that info and set it in put nothing seems to work. and it also says that my UPnP is not available. I really need someones help. i have a windows xp and my internet provider is comcast. any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I am not certain this will fix your problem but I suggest you assign the printer a static IP address.
Using the printer's front panel, select Menu > Network > WLAN > TCP/IP > Boot method, and change it to "static". Provide a static IP address that is on your LAN's subnet.
For example, if you are using an AirPort Extreme, you might give it an IP address of 10.0.1.100. If you are using a Netgear or Linksys router that defaults to issuing 192.168.x.x addresses, you might give it an address of 192.168.1.100. That way, the printer will always "reside at the same address" on your network. If your router has the ability, you should reserve that address so that the router does not attempt to assign it to another DHCP device.
Then, go to System Preferences > Print & Scan, and delete your existing printer with the "–" (minus) button. Add it again, using the "+" (plus) button. In the window that appears, select the IP pane, and from the Protocol menu select "Line Printer Daemon (LPD)". In the Address field type the IP address you gave your printer.
If all goes well the "Pring Using" field will detect the printer at that address and automatically select the appropriate driver. You will see something similar to the following screenshot ("name" can be whatever you decide, and "location" is optional):
Click Add, then you can close System Preferences.
There are other possible reasons your printer is "not responding" which could include wireless interference from competing wireless networks, but try this "static IP" method first. It should mitigate the problem.

  • PS3 Wireless Connection Problems: DNS error

I have a WRK54G wireless router, and I had my PS3 hooked up to it wirelessly, working fine, last night. Now, all of a sudden, there's a "DNS error" whenever I try to connect it. It can get the IP address fine, but it just can't actually connect to the internet. Help?

I enabled the DMZ, too, btw, and I set the adress to 192.168.1.20, and that's what I put in as the IP adress when I'm trying to hook the PS3 up with the internet... is that what I should be doing?

  • WRK54G and the PS3 wireless...

I am at a total loss when it comes to routers. I've got the PS3 plugged in with a cabel now and it works fine, but I would rather have it set up wirelessly. I have wep set up and put in the password etc when setting up the PS3 but it always fails. Sorry I don't know what else to add, but any help would be great.

well , if you have a wep security enabled on the wireless router , check whether the wep key that you are typing in is correct or not...the wep key should be the one that is in "key 1" and not the "passphrase"....
    forward ports 10070-10080 ( tcp ) and 6000 - 6999 ( udp )....

  • WRT400n and PS3 wireless issue

I have recently purchased a WRT400n and want to hook up my PS3.  I would not consider myself technologically inclines, but can figure things out, and I am at a loss.  Both computers in house (wireless laptops) work great.  The PS3 on the previous router, worked great.  When i set up the PS3, i am getting slow connection speeds, and cannot get full gaming experience if I am online for an extended period of time.  Cant hear me, lags, etc.... occur and I get an error on the PS3 of "Failed connection speed test".  Any thoughts as to how I can fix this situation would be great!!  Thanks for your help.

Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 80 and End box type in 80, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    2) On the second line in Application box type in DEF, in the start box type in 443 and End box type in 443, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    3) On the third line in Application box type in GHI, in the start box type in 5223 and End box type in 5223, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    4) On the fourth line in Application box type in JKL, in the start box type in 3478 and End box type in 3479, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    5) On the fifth line in Application box type in MNO, in the start box type in 3658 and End box type in 3658, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    6) On the sixth line in Application box type in PQR, in the start box type in 10070 and End box type in 10080, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box and click on Save Settings
    7) Now assign the given ip address on your PlayStation ip address :- 192.168.1.20, subnet mask :- 255.255.255.0, default gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    8) Also assign the dns addresses on the PlayStation Primary dns :- 4.2.2.2...Secondary dns :- 192.168.1.1
    9) Turn off your modem, router, and PlayStation...Wait for a minute...
    10) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the PlayStation and test it...
**Also disable UPnP and Change MTU on the router.

  • Another PS3 wireless to WRT54G question

Ok first off i have read tons of PS3 and WRT54G posts and i find nothing that is similar to my situation.
First off i have a PS3,PSP and a Squeezebox 3 that i am trying to get connected wireless to my WRT54G v6.I have WEP enabled on the router so for all three devices i manually assign an IP,WEP key,DNS and so on but they will not respond no matter what configuration i try.
The only way i can get these to work online is to connect them to a seperate wireless bridge like the WMB54G or the WET11.I configure those with my WEP keys and IP's and all is well.I have yet to connect them straight to the router hardwired but i am really looking to get these setup by having then use their own wireless configuration.
Since all three of these do not work on their own i find that it could be a router thing but then again they connect by a wireless bridge just fine.
Anyway's thanks for anyone that knows what it could be.

Well i finally just got connected to my PSP with WEp enabled. It looks like the PSP liked the KEY 1 but i had the default key of 4 asigned instead.I changed it to 1 and it is good. This is where i found my info.

  • New Photosmart Plus B209 a-m Will not connect wirelessly **HELP**

I just purchased this printer and i have tried every option I can think of and find online to get this printer to connect to my netgear router, I had a wireless canon printer that i had for a  while that quit so i went and bought this printer and now it wont connect i've never had this much trouble my canon connected right away. I changed my router settings and hit my WPS button for this printer and still nothing. When i click on the wireless option on the touchscreen menu on the printer it just says "No connection found" and the option on the solution center for USB to Wireless just runs and runs for hours. Any ideas?  Thanks a bunch in advance!!

    Hi- Cliff here.
I have the exact same printer. After I installed the software from the CD that came with the printer, I used the Wireless setup tab to configure my connection. You need to know about your network. Things like WEP, and most importantly- select the shared key if you use a 64 bit or 128 bit encryption. Mine would not work until I fixed the setup on the printer side of the wireless configuration. Type in your key (or passphrase) that's the same one you'd use on your laptop or desktop that is on the wireless network. Unless you have to- leave the settings to automatic on discovery of the IP address and DNS servers. You usually don't have to mess around with those on a home network. Make sure the printer is connected to the computer that you've installed the HP software on- with the USB cable when you start this process so the software can communicate with the printer. I used the "wizard" and after about 6 or 8 steps, I was able to remove the USB cable and put the printer downstairs. Then I simply used the Windows Vista "Add Device" for a printer on my network and Wahoo!!
I hope that helps. If not, write back to me and we can do a more detailed step by step overview.
I must say, once you get it all set up- it's a great printer and VERY inexpensive to operate. Ink is cheap and this printer is very fast over my network. I use my ACER Netbook all over the house and print from the garage and the front yard and the living room and even inside my RV!!
We will get it working.... Together....you are not alone in this.

  • Problem with macbook connecting to wireless: help please

    thanks for reading this thread.
i have a linksys WRT54G2 router connected straight from the ethernet port of a cable internet connection. it's been working fine for the past month or two for both me (using macbook 10.5.6), my flatmate (running vista pc) and my girlfriend also running a macbook.
but, the last few days i've been having problems getting connected. which are:
not connecting to wireless network automatically, and asking for password which is already remembered in keychain
getting connection timeout when trying to connect
getting invalid password, even though password is correct
websites taking around 2 mins to load when connection is eventually made
the internet is working fine on both my flatmates and girlfriends computers, but jut doesn't seem to like mine. heres what i've done already:
restored router to factory settings and updated with latest firmware
cleared all known wireless networks within network preferences
    tried both firefox and safari
accessed router using IP address and loaded pages instantly
works fine connected to router with an ethernet cable
the only thing i havn't tried is a different wireless network, which i'm going to try tomorrow when i go into university.
has anyone any idea what the problem may be? like i said, its been working fine for the past 2 months but has just decided it doesn't like my macbook.
any help or suggestions would be great, thanks alot

I had the same problem as you. It all started when all of a sudden my macbook wouldnt automatically join my home wifi that is usually does. I ignored this issue because it still worked, and this persisted for a few months. After a while, the situation got worse and after waking up from sleep, my wifi signal would go strong at first, then weaken until it kicks me off, and i no longer could reconnect as I would get a connection timeout error. I just went to the apple store and they replaced the airport card for free for me.
So basically your airport card is slowly dieing, replacement is inevitable.
