Ps4 needing a minimum speed of 100 10 160 meg spee...

Will bt be able to deliver the speed for ps4 online gaming bettween 100 to 160 meg per second minimum with virgin going to do those speeds for the same price bt infinty 2 prices and for ultra hd film download bt need to resolve this very quickly before the 29/11/2013 and virgin are going to do fttp not this fttc bt do so when will bt deliver full fiber broadband not fiber to the cabinate fiber to the premise or customers home to me to be called fiber broadband say to me from exchange to your home not the cabinate witch is not good enough to me and a load of other like minded people

All the news sources I can see on the net talk about needing faster upload speeds.  Standard ADSL tops out at about 1M.
If the PS4 really needs 100M broadband to work (and I can't see any possible reason why it should) then it will be dead in the water on launch, as most people simply don't have that sort of speed and won't be able to get it.

  • What is the minimum speed Telstra guarantees ADSL 2+ to connect at?

What is the minimum speed Telstra guarantees ADSL 2+ to connect at? I asked a Telstra sales person what the minimum speed was they said the minimum was 8 Mb/s. I asked for that in writing but they could not find it, nor could they find the minimum speed in any documentation. Am I correct in thinking the minimum speed guaranteed by Telstra (for ADSL 2+) is 256 Kb/sec?

Hi jjobrien, Not since the 90s has anyone considered 0.33mbps to be a good speed, so I can understand your frustration with this.  What affects your ADSL speed The speed achieved on ADSL depends on a number of factors, the main one being the cable distance between your premises and the DSLAM. Whirlpool have an article that explains the relationship between distance and speed very well and you can view it here: http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/dslam_speeds There are also DSLAMs that are affected by high demand, and lowering the overall speed available to customers. We are working on upgrading these exchanges and as upgrades are planned, these can be viewed here: http://telstrawholesale.com.au/download/document/tw-report-backhaul-upgrade.xls The configuration of the equipment and internal wiring of your home can also have a big part to play in speed results. How to check your equipment It is possible that there is a fault within network (and not just a matter of cable length), but to confirm this we ask customers to perform an isolation test. We do this on every call as it can not only resolve or identify the issue sooner for customers, but also prevents an unnecessary technician visit and the possibility of an incorrect call out charge. You have already checked these when you called previously, but to make sure a simple fix hasn't been missed, please take a look at this link for the things we look for:  http://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/General-Internet-KB/How-to-perform-an-Isolation-Test/ta-p/5501... In some circumstances, applying a line profile can provide more stability on the network. This next link provides information on how this works and how customers can manage this setting.  This is mainly used for customers experiencing disconnections, however in some cases can also improve speed if the issue is caused by packet loss. https://go.telstra.com.au/helpandsupport/-/adsl-line-profiles [Note: after logging in, some customers will be redirected to My Account and need to perform the following steps to then select Account Services then My BigPond from the menu located at the top right of the page.] If you are connected to your modem via WiFi, then this is also an area where speed can be lost. This WiFi Troubleshooting link may be helpful: http://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/General-Internet-KB/WiFi-Troubleshooting/ta-p/107516     If you have confirmed that the above has been done, and you would like for us to assist you further, please provide your contact and account details via the online form that I will send via private message. Please allow up to 5 business days for a response as we respond to each one in the order that it was submitted. - Shelly  Wow. Thanks Shelly. I could all do that, but given I have been onto this issue for years on end, and Telstra have freely admitted that their infrastucture is inadequate of delivery their own quoted minimum speeds, I think you are being completely unreasonable.I can understand that getting cutomers to do your work for you is better for you economically, and that using your own staff and technichians would cut into your profits, reported to be 3.8 Billion last year, I get that, I'm in business too, but we have a contract, you and I, and I'm fulfilling my part of that contract and you are not.My part says that I will pay you. Your part says that you will deliver a service. So as I see it, and I'm not a comercial contract lawyer, perhaps you are, maybe "Ira" from billing is, who knows, but as I see it you have a responsibility to either A: upgrade the service - we both know that is not going to happen, because I have been informed by Telstra directly that no upgrade is scheduled, and I followed the link you sent me to report/backhaul-upgrade.xls to a blank document that I couldn't make sense of, or B: change the contract and charge me far less. I propose that you charge me on a pro rata basis. If you deliver 25% speed, I pay 25% fee. You must understand here, I'm not proposing that upgrade a DSLAM and/or that you dig a trench and lay a fancy new cable to my house just so that I cmay enjoy a first world luxury, Im not saying that. What I am saying is that we have a billing issue. How do you see it?John.

  • Minimum speed before Infinity can be ordered

Guys, my turn to ask a question on here now.
Does anyone know if there is a minimum speed that a customer needs to achieve before they are able to order infinity?
I have had an enquiry from a friend who seems to be unable to order infinity, their current line speed is 0.5Mb

The minimum speed estimate for which you can order an FTTC service is 2Mb; to sub-divide products, the minimum for BT Infinity is 15Mb, and the minimum for Faster Total Broadband Option 3 is 2Mb. Anything below 2Mb we can't place orders for and Openreach can't (or shouldn't) try to install service for.

  • Minimum speed on FC interface.

What minimum speed can be set on FC interface of MDS9216 switch?

Port rate limit can be set from 1-100% of port speed. The documentation mentions that port rate limiting can only be configured on Cisco MDS 9100 Series switches, Cisco MDS 9216i switches, and MPS-14/2 modules. The command is "switchport ingress-rate <1-100>" under the interface configuration.

I have a new downloaded OS X now my Iphoto version 8.2 needs upgrading I downloaded 9.3 but I cant use it as I need a minimum of 9.1 how do I do this ?

You can purchase the newest version of iPhoto on the Mac app store. Cost (in US dollars) is $14.99.
It sounds like you downloaded an iPhoto update to take version 9.1 up to 9.3. You can't use it with version 8.x.
    Best of luck.

  • Difference in speed btw 100 & 1000 ethernet

I'm considering wether to buy the Apple wifi 802.11n router. It has 100 ethernet ports only. How much slower is the speed btw 100 on the apple router and a Linksys 1000 router?

    Hi,
I spotted this thread, and thought it might be appropriate to ask my question here.
I know I must be a bit of a dunce, but are their any ways to make sure that the ethernet port on my PowerPC iMac are set to work at the correct speed?
I ask, because I am having a problem with my cable broadband connection with my iMac. I have a 20MB connection, and when I use my 4 year old Win XP system I can achieve great speeds up to around 15 - 17 MB downloads speeds.
But on my PowerPC iMac, I can hardly get above 2MB download speeds.
My service provider has confirmed that my connection is working fine, and they have replaced my five year old cable modem, but still this problem persists on my iMac.
My Service Provider suggests that I check that my Ethernet port is set to receive 100MB+
Can you advise, or anyone else put me in the picture.
I am using a an Ethernet cable connected directly to my cable modem, and the Ethernet socket on my iMac.
    Thanks

  • Need apps: BEST speed dialer favorite, BEST video viewer, BEST list maker..

Need apps: BEST speed dialer favorite (I have to turn on/off and reset hourly to get email so I can't keep favorites in my phone area), BEST video viewer (short form or longer form) AND BEST list maker that allows sync with online component (so I can keep a list on iPhone and/or online when not on iPhone).
    Thanks!

Ah yeah I know that. I am asking users on this board what they consider the "BEST" in a specific category. The app store is not very user friendly (too many clicks), plus the categories are vague and contain a mish-mosh of stuffs. I have downloaded several apps (free and paid) for other needs—but really would like suggestions on those I have yet to download.
BTW your response was rather lame and not very helpful.

  • Minimum speed

I'm just about to get Infinity but I'm more than a little concerned that even though the service is fairly new, the maximum speed I can receive is already down to 26 megs and can only get lower as more users get on line.  With ordinary broadband they boast 20Mb but could only deliver 2.5Mb (0.5Mb for a friend of mine) so is there a minimum speed below which we get compensated for the poor service?

You'll most likely find that you'll get more than the estimated speed. I believe that the speed quote is based on 85 or 90% cabinet fill. With VDSL, sync speeds do drop slightly the more customers on a cabinet due to cross talk.
The speed estimations for FTTC are more accurate than regular ADSL due to the fact there is only a short distance from the cab as opposed to the exchange.

  • Need COTS Analog Speed Signal from Encoder

Hello everyone, need some shopping help.
I have a customer who wants to get a scaled analog output corresponding to rotational speed from an encoder instead of doing traditional freq measurements.  We want a stand alone package that does the frequency measurement on board and just puts out a scaled analog output.
Need < 100 mS latency and ability to resolve 5 rpm to 1000 rpm.  Just don't know where to go to buy one.
Anyone know of such a device?
    Thanks

One example of many manufacturers of frequency to voltage converters:

Look at the detailed specs to make sure the unit's input voltage range is compatible with the encoder along with the response time.

  • How do I set ethernet speed to 100 Full?

Right now we connect at 100 half duplex. I need to change our Mac lab to 100 full but I can't find how to do it. We are running Imac G5's with Tiger. Please help. Thanks in advance

    System Preferences>Network>Show:>Ethernet>Ethernet Tab>Configure=Manually, Speed=100, Duplex=Full... Apply.

  • Do I need faster RAID speed?

I have a clip that contains 4 layers of 4K R3D files (2 layers of masks + 1 layer of rotoscope + original layer) that are dynamically linked to After  Effects.  The  footage was shot in Redcode 36.
When I turn off GPU acceleration (so, software only), the bar goes red in  the timeline.  I activate GPU acceleration, the bar goes yellow in the  timeline.  Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but that yellow line means the  clip is now GPU accelerated and it may be possible to play it back in real  time (at some resolution...maybe 1/16?).
I play the clip.  The audio plays fine, the video doesn't play at  all, no matter what the playback resolution is set at.  It just stops  cold on the first frame.
I check Activity Monitor.  The CPU is hitting around 40% (sometimes less, sometimes more).  The RAM has a few GB free.
I'm on a 5.1 (2010) quad Mac Pro (3.2 GHz) with 32 GB RAM, and PP 5.0.3 on OSX 10.6.5.
    QUESTIONS:
1  a) Is it possible that the bottle neck is the hard drive read and write speed?
I have an external Raid drive (4 x 2TB) connected with eSata.  I tested  it with AJA System Test.  The read and write speed are 125MB (read) and 105MB (write).  Right  now, it's limited by the eSata card I have which caps everything around  125MB.  If I get something like this:  http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer...gy/MXPCIE6GS2/
I can get sustained rates of 220 MB (read) and 180 (write) from my external RAID drive (according to LaCie's website).
    b)  If I'm editing 4 layers of 4K files at 36 MB each, in theory, I need  sustained read and write speeds of 144MB (4 x 36MB) minimum, correct?   Am I way off base here?
    2.  Another thing that's confusing me is how the playback resolution  factors into all this.  If I set it to 1/16, what sustained read and  write speeds do I need to play back the clip (all 4 layers) in real  time? 1/16 x 144 MB = 9 MB.  Do I only need 9MB of sustained read and  write speeds to play back the clip in real time?  Is that how it works?   If so, how come I can't get it to play back in real time?
    3)  Is there a software (for OSX 10.6.5) that can measure whether or not  the hard drive read and write speeds are peaking?  Apps like AJA System  Test don't measure the hard drive when in use.  I'd like to determine  if the hard drive read and write speeds are being strained/ pushed to  the max.
Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

I have a similar setup and use BM for I/O.
They have a great piece of software for testing drive i/os.
Tomorrow I may get on my system and get the exact figures of drive I/o that are required for what you need.
My internal array runs at around 210mbs bothways and I still get the
issue you described. So I guess if your thinking of uping your array to a similar speed
your issue may not be resolved. I did think that the yellow indicator meant it could play in RT.
I found on a Vid Tut. from Adobe TV (I couldn't find the link) I think it was "optimising your system"
It showed a yellow indicator on a timelione that could not play. They said this was due to the drives
not coping. Looking forward to a faster array when they are cheaper, I think around 300mbs should
    do the job.

  • Two elxl ethernet cards - need to hardcode speed/duplex on one but not the other

    Hello,
I am running Solaris 8 IA, and have two 3com Ethernet cards. One (elxl1) is a 10Base-T card that is used to connect to my cable modem, and the other (elxl0) is a 100Base-TX card that I use to connect to my internal network.
I had been using a crossover cable to connect elxl0 to my Windows machine (my Solaris box is running ipfilter for firewalling and NAT), and it worked perfectly. I purchased a Linksys switch, and get about 90% packet loss when the two machines are connected to it.
What I'm thinking is that I need to hardcode the speed and duplex settings of elxl0. Of course, I'd prefer to set it to 100/Full, but if I edit elxl.conf, the settings take effect for both cards, and causes elxl1 to not function, since it is not capable of running at 100/Full.
Is there a way to tell the OS that I want to set elxl0 to 100/Full without affecting elxl1?
A response here or via e-mail at [email protected] would be greatly appreciated.

maybe a driver configuration bug? Does modinfo show two instances of the driver??
Does man ndd offer any help?

  • BT Infinity installed with not the minimum speed

I had my BT Infinity installed a couple of days ago and the download speed that I am getting is only 8mb-10mb cabled and not 57.5mb which I was advised would get. The engineer told me the minimum acceptable speed was 15mb.
The engineer has told me that there is no problem with the wiring inside my house but that the fault is from outside to the cab. He mentioned that there is a D side fault (being a non tech this went over my head) We agreed to leave the equipment and not change back as he would report the fault and it would also save sending another engineer out just to do work he had just done. The enginner's diagnostic equipment did not work inside my house but did work at the cab.
I contacted customer services and they did a line test and said everything was fine and I needed to wait 10 days for the broadband to settle down.
I then contacted customer services and spoke to someone on the BT infinity desk and gave them my order number to see if the engineer had put in a fault log. The adviser confirmed that no fault log has been raised and the call was closed and that the engineer should not have left my address until the fault was sorted. But the engineer told me the problem was outside and he could not resolve that fault.
I seem to be going around in circles, can anyone help ?

@connectcctv:  Might be worth starting you own thread.  Standard information always needed for a question like this ....
Are you testing wireless or wired?
What is your profile?   To find the profile ....Either http://speedtester.bt.com/ and choose the ‘ADSL and Fibre diagnostics’ option or Tom’s BRAS checker http://windows.mouselike.org/be/?DoAction=BrasChecker which isn’t a speedtest but gives profile.

  • Minimum speed for Infinity

    Hi,
I had Infinity installed 10 days ago and the initial download speed of just under 20Mb and uoload speed of just under 1 Mb.
The BT Engineer informed me at the time of installation that the download speed needs to be above 15Mb or the installation is deemed as failed (or simmilar words).
I have been performing the BT Speed test over the last few days and now find that my Line has been provisioned at download 14mb with the actual dowload soeeds that I get being between 12 - 14Mb and upload provisioned at 2mb with me getting an actual upload speed of between 500 - 800Kb.
Could anybody please tell me if there's a minimum expected speed for Infinity and know the reason why BT would have reduced my line provisioned speed from 20Mb to 14Mb when I've not experienced any problems.
    Thanks
