PS4's official universal remote is heading to Europe

The PS4 is getting its first official universal remote. As spotted on Amazon and GameStop, peripheral developer PDP's universal remote is the first of its kind officially licensed by Sony. Priced at $29.99, it's slated for an autumn release in North America. When asked about a European release, a representative from PDP told Eurpgamer, "Currently this product is for the N.American market only. We are in the process of getting this product made available for Europe. We hope to be able to for Q4 this year but [it's] still to be confirmed. " The universal remote will offer complete control over all of the PS4's media playback functions via Bluetooth and it will control up to four devices. It even has a PS4 Home button, should you wish to switch between apps without turning on your DualShock 4. It will however require two AAA batteries. Source:Eurogamer

I love my PS3 remote. It works really well for the PS3 we've got set up for Netflix and iPlayer and stuff.

  • Ipad as Universal Remote

Hi, I just bought a 32gb Ipad and intend to use it also as a Universal Remote for my home theatre. Does someone know or recommend any good and trustworthy app or accessories for this mean?
    Thanks,
    Gus

Bobby Universal works only with PC platforms and the IR device is connected (USB) to a computer, so you have to have the computer in the room.
I have tried a couple of the others that have an IR device that plugs into my iPad, but their data base is very limited so they only work as a very limited universal remote. They are not suitable to control your home theatre. They can be programed to turn my AV receiver on and off and control the volume. You cannot not program them for any activities beyond that.
For example, a typical activity would be to watch TV. That means I need to turn on the TV and my satellite DVR and set my AV receiver to TV. This is easy with stand alone universal remotes. I have not found anything that actually works.
Has anyone had any better luck?

    Pair it.

  • Trying to install universal remote control

Logittech 1100 universal remote. .internet shuts down and won't let me process.  What to do??

Your old remote is not going to work with the x-fi gamer. You would need to by this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E68290204
or look for some 3rd party product.

Can you program a universal remote to a mac?

If you want to use a universal remote?
see > using a universal remote with an Apple computer - Google Search
If you have an Apple Remote?
see > Pairing your Apple Remote with your computer
Go to: Apple > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General > unlock the preference panel > click the Advanced... button and then the Pair... button.
FWIW the Apple Remote from my 2006 iMac works fine with my 2010 Mac Mini running 10.8.5.

  • Can appleTV be controlled with RF Universal Remote?

I know that universal remotes that use IR technology can be configured to work with appleTV. But does anyone know if it is possible to control appleTV with a universal remote that works via RF?

Actually...the reason I asked the original question is that I am moving my audio visual equipment into a closet off my living room. Because it will be behind a door, only universal remotes powered by RF will control the system. The only hitch is that the AppleTV seems to work only with IR remotes. If that is indeed the case, I thought I might simply replace the AppleTV with a MacMini that can be controlled through the closet door with wireless mouse/keyboard. Does anyone have any thoughts on that solution?

  • Pairing an ATV remote using a universal remote

I tried to ask this last week but maybe it was too confusing.
Can I pair an Apple TV remove using a universal remote. I've got two ATVs and would like to pair each remote then use a universal remote to control them individually.
    Think it will work?
    Thanks.

Hello - each Apple Remote issues unique commands by default. I won't go into the gory details, but if you looks at the Hex output of commands from two different remotes there are two digits that change as you issue the same command from different remotes.
By default the devices that use an Apple Remote accept codes from any remote (my guess is they ignore the unique hex codes). When you pair the remote you are telling the device to only listen to that specific remote by watching for the unique hex codes. Here is the thread from which I gleaned this info (I am not bright enough to figure this out on my own):

I am researching using a Universal Remote, Inc. brand MX-900 remote to control my Apple TV. I can use the learned codes to control it no problem for the basic features. The only thing I can't get working is the "fast scroll" through the library lists - it must be the rate at which the Apple Remote issues repeat commands vs how quickly my remote does.

  • Programming of Universal Remote Required ?

Right now I have the original Apple TV. Over the holiday season I received the latest model of Apple TV and I plan to hook it up over the weekend. My setup includes a Harmony 880 Universal Remote Control that I have been using for three years. I have nasty memories of programming it to recognize the  Apple TV back then and I sure would hate to go through that again. So the question is, will the Harmony 880 recognize the latest model of Apple TV or do I have to program the Harmony again?
    Cheers
    John

Thanks for the response but I am not clear on where this leaves me. Are you saying that I can install the new Apple TV without touching the Universal Remote and the UR will work just fine?
    Cheers
    John

  • I'm headed to Europe in a month with an iPad 2 w/ATT 3G. Will I be able to use the 3G without excess roaming fees?

I'm headed to Europe in a month with an iPad 2 w/ATT 3G. Will I be able to use the 3G without excess roaming fees?

I have just been back from Germany. Using GPRS/EDGE or 3G Roaming will certainly incur additional cost to you.  However, there are many service providers in Europe with different 3G using rates/KB and minimum KB usage per log-in.  Check price before you log-in to any network.
Recommend to check 1) your local mobile operator for Roaming promotion in Europe or 2) buy International SIM from your country with very lower cost of calling, receiving calls, and using data (I am not sure your country has these kind of service provider).

  • How to disconnect PS4 controller from Xperia remote play?

    Hi!
I connected my dualshock 4 controller yesterday to the Xperia to try out remote play. And now every time I press the ps4 button on the controller it starts up the xperia and not the ps4. This is a problem for me since I only have one controller.
How can I disable the connection between my DS4 and the Xperia?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Have you tried turning off Bluetooth or unpairing the device from Bluetooth options

    Hello!!
Question's on the title, i've seen that the best remote for Apple TV is this:
    LOGITECH HARMONY 700 REMOTE
Though all that said, i would have NO idea on how to set it up.
However, would it be also possible to link up the Bose Solo!? I know it's a long shot of asking, i just want to see if anyone here knows a thing or two about it!
    Thanks!

    without any problems

  • Any universal remotes for the zen tou

Looks like Creative won't budge on bringing back the FM wired remote or any new remotes for the Zen Touch. Pity- I think they would still make a profit. So does anyone else make wired remotes suitable for use with the Zen Touch 20GB?

  • HT3180 I purchased a universal remote and now my apple tv remote won't work and I can't get apple tv to work at all

    L

    Hi all,
I have tried all of the above.
    Unplugged for 10 -15 seconds
Reset per the instructions for this model of Apple TV via the remote
But all I see on the screen is "check signal cable"
This happened when I installed Google Chromecast.
Any other ideas? I really want my Apple TV working again.

  • Can Toshiba universal remote CT-90302 be used with Toshiba TV 32CV100U?

From what I see looking at the remote manual, this remote contains no code for this TV, but if anyone has information to the contrary, I'd appreciate it.

    apple make 1 remote
and that works for mac's appletv's and some iphone/ipod docks
